Hi, I got a Samsung Galaxy SIII that one of my relatives had and I put in my sim, everything was working... except for 4G LTE, I can get HSPA+ but not LTE. I Put in another sim card and LTE showed up fine? Is it a problem with my sim card? Is there a solution besides from going to an AT&T store and requesting another one?
-Thanks in Advance
You need to exchange you current sim card for a 4G sim card from your provider. That's all it is, funny l did that just a few days ago

hi,
will my euro galaxy s work in japan (where I am going on vacation)?
Thanks,
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
It will work (roaming) but it probably will not work with a japanese sim card

Like zombrex said.
It will work, but I had problems calling and receiving calls from japanese cell phones. Apart from that everything worked for me.

3rd confirmation. I could use roaming in Japan. The European model is identical to the international model.
Just got back from holidaying in Japan. I can confirm that the Galaxy was fine there although I didnt make any calls (expensive!), mostly used data services to retrieve and send emails using UK sim card. Used wi-fi points and skype/tango where possible.
Thank you guys for the info, I'm glad my beloved galaxy will work in
Japan.
Are prepaid data or/and voice sim cards available in .jp to avoid
horrendous roaming charges?
What is the wifi hotspot situation in hotels and cities in general? Are
they mostly free?
I think there are no prepaid cards in japan like you know them.
Can't remember using free wifi hotspots except in the hotel. But once there was a free hotspot in a club. That was the only one i found^^
Hi !
I have the same kind of question.
I will go in Japan for 1 year, and as I saw that they sell Galaxy S in Japan, I was wondering if I could use my Galaxy S with a Japanese Sim card.
Do I need a Japanese rom ? Or any configuration ?
Thanks
Up !
No one can help me ?
If your phone is unlocked you'll be able to use a japanese sim
it wordks, japan user the different sim card size(smaller),you can buy the sim card cover to fix it.
Thank you DrFredPhD and eim886 !
The Rom doesn't matter ?

I looked for a sim card cover, but I only found a sim card adapter for micro-sim.
Where could I find a sim card adapter to use a japanese sim card on my phone ?
EDIT :
I found there is only 3 sizes for sim card : standard, mini-sim, and micro-sim.
But which one is used in Japan ?
hey trynium, did you find an answer to your question?
I have a North American version (Canada Bell) i9000 and really don't want to buy a new phone when I have a perfectly good one right here. Would the sim adapter work? Which network did you use and how did you go about it?
I was wondering if the North American version phone can run on Japan's network... if anybody out there could help, it'd be much appreciated

I went in Japan later than I expected.
I took a prepaid phone, so I could not really test with my SGS (no internet connection, lot of restrictions... for prepaid phone).
But the good point was that the sim card was a standard one. So sim adapter seems useless in this case.
The harder in Japan, is to buy a sim card without a phone. From what I know, there is not much problem than that !
By the way, sorry for the (very) late answer...
Going to pickup a galaxy note on one of my family plan upgrades. Going to have my number transfered to the note sim which is LTE. What happens to my old sim card in the thrill if I don't give it to them? I am keeping the thrill also, and the upgrade # will still be used on my son's non smart phone. If they deactivate the thrill sim, will a LTE sim work in the thrill?
I may just give the thrill to my other son if I can't swap the sim back and forth. Have never had a problem with this phone and really don't want to give it up but, after some hands on time with the note, I just can not see not getting one. It's a beast of a phone and with my big hands it is the perfectly size.
LOL, I digress. Anyone have any insights to the sim questions?

They just turn it off. I got a new sim for my thrill from at&t and they gave me my old sim back. I guess it just doesn't work anymore. But I've never checked it.
Newer sim cards will always be backwards compatible. (In fact, leave the Note IMEI on your line so you have all compatible data gateways as well.)
Infusion Core-A Home Base.
If it's an LTE device, they'll have to give you a new SIM card for it

Yes, was aware of that. The question I had was lte sim being compatible with the thrill. Someone did answer that above. Thank you though.
Hey everyone, just had a quick question. If I were to purchase an I957 off contract, would I be able to use my SIM card from my unlimited dataplan in my tablet to browse the internet on 3G+/LTE ? I believe I have a standard size sim card in my Atrix.
Thanks!

It definitely has to be a LTE sim or it wont work.
I havent tested the tab with a phone LTE sim though so i cant talk about that.
I previously used T-Mobile, and I found out that my C6603 was not compatible to TMOBILE's frequency for 3G and 4G network. And later I switched to AT&T, now I can get a H+ speed, but never LTE, I checked my APN setting, it's correct, and my mobile network preference is LTE (preferred). Anyone has similar question before and found a solution? Currently I updated to 5.0.2 lollipop, still no LTE.
Please let me know if you need more information of my phone like build number, kernel version etc.
Thanks!
Same here, never had 4G, I have C6603 , any ideas?
You need to have SIM card that support LTE, sometimes called USIM.
I had that problem with Orange after I got my first LTE phone(Samsung) and its turn out that I need new sim card.
Here in Europe(Spain, Poland, German) changing your current SIM card to new is free, you just need to go to operator sign one document and wait for new card.
I waited 5 days for it, but at least It was nanoSIM with adapter to micro and mini

I think my sim card support LTE, because I got it in September last year, and I think LTE is quite popular at that time, and ATT will give customers SIM card that support LTE without special request

I bought it from Amazon it was factory unlocked, and Xperia Z has 2 versions C6602 does not have LTE but C6603 does.

Thank you very much!

Welcome to cheapsterville, enjoy your stay. That's a premium feature. (Stock) Nokia 6.1 does the same and a1 did the same.

So there is no possibility for voLTE or similar on them is what you're saying?
I can use H (3G) while in calls but no LTE while in calls(voLTE).
But I may have to change my sim card to suport voLTE, since its an old AF sim card. I assume its my sim that is the issue since a friend of mine that has an iphone X (supports voLTE) had to ask for a new sim card to get it working.

Ask your carrier for a new sim card.
You sure your carrier supports it? (Don't know if it can be a carrier side thing)
