Nook HD running CM 10.2. With HDMI adapter connected nook will not see game controllers as it usually does with USBHost Switcher running. Sure it has to do with the nook not being able to input and output at the same time or something of that sort but, has anyone used both together successfully?

Hey,
I don't have yet a Nook to try it myself, but I'd like to know before I get one.. if I use a USB adapter, can I then connected a regular USB keyboard or mouse to the Nook?
I know that with CM7 I can get Bluetooth, but I'm more interested in using the devices I already have instead of buying a Bluetooth keyboard. But I do intend to get CM7 on it, so the question applies for a Nook with CM7.
Thank you.
I would say yes, at least in my experience. I use a Logitech MK320 combination full-sized keyboard & mouse with my Nook at home. Both operate off a single USB dongle connected to the Nook (with adapter). Seems to work just fine. Even some of the special-function keys work. (nightly 155)

This might be an idiot question but which adapter did you use? Thanks.

Not an idiot question at all! I use a USB A Female to Micro USB 5 Pin Male Adapter by Generic I got for less than $2 on Amazon.com. Shipping was twice the cost of the adapter!
Be careful to get one with a "Micro" male B end. Not a "Mini", as some of those referenced previously are.

Hi,
I have reading the forum and i was not able to find a right answer, so i decided to ask.
Is it possible to have USB OTG (USB HOST) on the Nook HD + without any special hardware.
I mean, do i need to make a cable myself or can i buy the cable on amazon to make this work?
What kind of USB devices can be used on the Nook HD+ with 10.1?
Thanks
With CM10.1, hardware-wise you just need a USB female-female gender bender and the standard charge lead.
I wish I knew what devices can be used though. It works with USB memory sticks I tried, plus a microsd USB adaptor and various microsd cards, but it doesn't work with my cheap old 7-in-1 multi-format memory card adaptor, or my new super fast PixelFlash CF card adaptor.
I haven't found an way to access my SLR CF cards, which is what I want to use USB host for.

I bought a Female/Female Adapter at Frys. Ask where they are if you go there because they have USB crap all over the store. They're a dollar or two. Easy to find online.
I run a Nook HD+ with CyanogenMod 10.1 from 07/19. Here's what I've used...
Plugable USB 2.0 Hub (power optional)
Logitech Keyboard (direct and through hub)
NoName USB Keyboard -- looks like Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (direct and through hub)
Logitech Basic Laser Mouse (through hub)
Logitech G9 Laser Gaming Mouse (through hub, powered only)
Mediasonic USB 3.0 Enclosure for 2.5'' SATA w/500GB HDD installed (through hub, powered).
The Keyboard(s) and basic Mouse work with the Hub powered or unpowered. Probably burns less battery if you have it powered.
The Gaming Mouse required the Hub to be powered in order to work.
The Mediasonic USB 3.0 required the Hub to be powered, and worked when the keyboard and mouse were plugged in at the same time.
I formatted a Hitachi 500GB SATA drive as exFAT, and the Nook had no problems both reading and writing to it (/storage/usb0).
I was really impressed with the HDD working, and with a 500GB drive at that! The enclosure cost $14.99.

Does the Nook charge while functioning as a USB host and plugged into the powered hub? If not, is there another way to make it charge and host at the same time?
Hello, I didn't see anyone post anything on this yet from either device (HD, HD+) but I haven't been able to connect a controller when on the 7/8 build of CM 10.1 or Carbon 7/7. I'm not sure if is an isolated problem or if there is known issues with bluetooth. I was able to get it working on Stock + root but much prefer Carbon or CM (Great Roms!!). If anyone has found a workaround I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions! :fingers-crossed:

Several of us have tried sixaxis to no avail. We can only hop this will get fixed at some point. I personally would love to see BT and the PS3 controller work rather than using USB. Time will tell.

Thanks for the reply. How did you get USB to work with the proprietary cable connection of the B&N devices?

Been a few days and wondering if anyone found a workaround or fix for this.
you get a small usb hub, and a female to female gender changer.
hookup nook usb cable to gender changer, plug that into usb hub pc connector end, plug ps3 controller
into it via usb cable. then change it to force usb host or vice versa. It's explained in the other Nook forum here:

I hate it, but it does work.
hoping for a blue-tooth working fix as well...

Still a lil confused but I'll check out that link. thank you very much
Recognizing my controllers
I'm using a ps2 controller with a generic USB adaptor. I set up CM 10.1 (awesome awesome awesome) and have a gender changer but no USB hub. When I do forced USB host, the controller lights up when I press the Analog button on the controller so I don't think I need a USB hub. How do I get the Nook to recognize it as an input method? I have done lots of research and tried the USB/BT joy center app and still my controller is not recognized. I also got a generic SNES controller and same issue. Is this because they are generic and there are no drivers for Android to recognize these devices, or do I just need a USB hub? How can I get an emulator to recognize these? Thanks for taking a look.

Wow yeah I have no clue. It would be much easier to just have sixaxis working. Otherwise I got to buy a bunch of stuff to get it working and carrying a bunch of wires around kinda ruins the portability factor of having a tablet in the first place lol
Was wondering is there any update on this issue as i would like to try out one of these roms but this is putting me of doing so
any updates? im yet to get mine going =/
you need to lean on the developers of sixaxis app.
It appears to be the only one not working.
I got tired of waiting and just got a cheap 20 dollar blue-tooth controller from gamestop (red samurai controller)
works great.

Not sure if this would be the right forum, but I'll try anyway.
I've rooted my Nook HD+ and now I'm running CyanogenMod 10.2.1. and managed to connect some USB devices(a mouse for instance), which work fine. However, I want to use a keyboard and since, at the moment, I don't have a USB one, I tried connecting a PS2 keyboard, using a USB to PS2 converter. The lights on the keyboard turn on, but the keyboard itself isn't working. I tried a PS2 Mouse as well. Again, it lights up, meaning that it is receiving power from the tablet, but you can't actually use it! So, what exactly is the problem here? When I did have the chance to use a USB mouse and keyboard, they worked fine. It's not an Android thing either. Apparently you can connect a PS2 keyboard and mouse to a Nexus 7, running Android 4.2 and they'll work just fine. I don't think it's because of the Nook's hardware, considering that the devices do turn on, when you plug them in. The USB to PS2 converter also isn't the problem, because the keyboard and mouse work fine, when I plug them into the PC. I suppose CyanogenMod doesn't have drivers for PS2 devices? If that's the case, is there any way I could find and install some? If an older version of Android could handle them, I don't see why this OS shouldn't.
Thanks.
I have been a Nook HD+ owner for about 1.5 years and have been avidly following the nook+ forums. I am currently running amaces UNOFFICIAL CM12.1 for Nook HD/HD+ [2015-10-18] with prior experience on 10, 11 versions. With the current 12.1 version, I am attempting to run it as a media center connected to tv running kodi, netflix, amazon, watchespn, slingtv and hdhomerun, with a wireless mouse/keyboard. All of these apps currently run great displaying to the nook+ screen, but the problems come with connecting to the tv and running mouse thru hdmi adapter in usb host mode.
I get a picture but the resolution is incorrect for the tv, stays at nook display resolution. An old forum post Nook HD+ HDMI adapter suggests that the original nook+ firmware connected to the tv fine, with auto switching of the resolution and turning nook+ screen off. @amaces will this be addressed in your 12.1 and 13 roms?
The other issue is usb host thru hdmi adapter, it is not passed thru the adapter with any versions of the roms. But, a previous post suggests that it is possible with a powered hub, "Edit #2: What that last sentences means, I think, is that USB host mode with the HDTV/HDMI adapter may work without modification, if the Nook USB cable is connected to a powered hub." Has anyone verified this.
If these issues were addressed, the nook+ could be a great little android tv box vs. collecting dust.
