So I have an AT&T Vivid (S-ON; HTCDev unlocked; no SIM) that I managed to soft brick (recovery won't start even with reflash :banghead: ). I do not have access to a Windows PC and therefore cannot run the RUU exe files. I figured that was fine because I can just obtain a PH39IMG.zip (like my EVO and EVO 3D before) and relock the bootloader. The problem is that everywhere I look refers to old uploads that don't exist anymore. Can anyone provide a functional zip?

Phone rooted ok.
I'm assuming that's a rooted stock rom that obviously wont unlock the bootloader. but it installs like an official update?
Yeah... What is this?

It's unlockable via the htcdev website. Doesn't come unlocked.

do i use S710d (China Telecom) 3.06.1401.0 or will it automaticly detect my phone and still be able to do the unlock even though my specific phone is not on the green list?

No need to flash anything, just follow the instructions on the htcdev site.

Same thing here.
hmmm...
The zip tried to load twice from hboot.
I tried the recovery option and rec'd the red triangle.
Ended up with correct time on home widget, but 4 hrs ahead in upper right menu.
So I flashed the Cingular ruu and back to normal.
I notice the img file is about 11 MB smaller than the ruu.
I attempted on Tuesday and again today to unlock bootloader, getting the same message as others above.
Here is the whole message you receive.
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.

We have to wait. It took almost a month I think for the Amazed 4G.
Just long enough so that the people who got it on day-one are out of the return/exchange period

Still downloading, but does this zip make any changes to the hboot? If so, has someone tried to do the htcdev unlock after running this?
Just wondering out loud, but even if hboot is updated...not sure if that would change the identifier token...
tried flashing through CWM just to see what happens! FAIL
My HTC Velocity is unlocked, s-off and has lived a good life of forever shifting ROM's however a mandate has come down from above that they are rolling out a new antivirus package at work that detects all these shenanigans and reports it back, is there any way, now that I have s-off to relock the boot-loader without it saying "re-locked" and just saying locked like it did originally?
I'm not sure if that would actually be detected I have a feeling it only really detects rooting, however but it would be a nicety to get it back to totally stock.
Difficult answer to find with the associated keywords, sorry if this is a repost I did attempt to search for it.
I could be wrong, but as far as I know you should just have to relock your bootloader with the file you should have saved somewhere that let you originally unlock it and then run the RUU that's floating around here somewhere. Just make sure you download the correct RUU for what you want (the official ICS one is like 400 something MBs I think).

OP does not want the boot loader to say re-locked.
AFAIK there is no way to do this. I have re-locked mine a few times and it always says re-locked.
Thanks, as above I have relocked many times, bummer can't get rid of re-lock

Hey guys long time to talk (long time since I have had internet)
So here is the situation, two weeks ago I bought the HTC Desire C and I rooted it, and of course unlocked my bootloader.
Problem is, I want to return this phone and exchange it for the LG Optimus Regard
Can anyone tell me the steps I need to take so the store reps wont know I fiddled with my device? (I read somewhere that they can tell how many times you flashed it, so I need to reset said counter if it exists) I really want to do this tonight.
Thanks,
Tlasch
You should be able to do a full unroot from the options in supersu also you can relock the bootloader but it will say relocked not locked like it used to and there's nothing you can do about that. But its unlikely they'd check that before they take it back anyway.

Well in superuser, I have no options, will this RUU undo the root for me?
It says its the Europe version, will that mess my phone up? (NVM it doesnt look like it will work, it keeps telling me my battery is less than 30% which is not true)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710312
Yes flashing a ruu will unroot your phone but you need to make sure its the right when for where you live so if you dont live in Europe don't flash a Europe one also I think you need to relock the bootloader before flashing a ruu.

run update in your htc software and
click on repair
done
I bought a used phone. After booting in bootloader, it reads tempered and relocked.
Then i selected the option "recovery"... It showed some stock recovery type animation for a few seconds.... And when the phone booted, the phone was like factory reset.... Not even the sd card files were there... Completely wiped.
Is it normal?
Also how to check if it is rooted or not? And steps more needed to flash custom recovery?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Well that just means that they unlocked the bootloader and then relocked it again
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Well, it sounds like the person relocked the phone and wiped all of their data before he sold it. What you describe sounds normal. You could download root checker to see if it's still rooted, but I highly doubt it is. Search these forums for instructions on unlocking and rerooting.

Did something happen?? I just switched over from my atrix hd it's been rooted and unlocked bootloader for over a year. Well my wife thought if I did the same to get atrix she could get more money out of it. Rooting and unlocking the bootloader on hers was one of the most time consuming unlock I've done. I had to use ubuntu and etc etc...wow did she get an update that made it so complicated from when i did mine??

If she was on 4.1.x a few months ago, then yeah...
AFAIK The Ubuntu Root method wasn't so bad though. After one or two tries it goes through easy.
The bootloader unlock was rather easy as well.
At least you managed to root & unlock it so it all worked out right? ?

@needleyepoke Myth Tools, which uses motopocalypse to unlock the bootloader and motochopper to root. Takes about a minute each. Or you can download each tool seperately

Is there a newer method for unlocking your bootloader? for system version 98.4.20? Because motoapacolypse will not unlock my bootloader and several pages claim it still works. I need a method compaitble with windows 7 and complete instructions please.

I just wanna install cyanogenmod i rooted and kept the stock rom cus i wanted to keep using smartactions but after having tons of problems i switched to juice defender ultimate and i see no reason to stay on stock firmware with its bad battery life and excessively high ram usage
