Is anybody disappointed of rumors of the "premium" Galaxy S5 Prime rumored to come out in June just a few short months after the "regular" S5?
My gf and I both have the S5 on the Next plan, so we are locked in for a year. I don't know what to think.
Thoughts?

Nope, because I realize it's just more unfounded rumors. A "prime" S5 is not coming out. Either way, none of the rumored specs intrigue me one bit. I'm quite happy with my S5 as is.

With the next plan you can pay off the phone at any time that you feel like it, if you'd rather make credit card payments for the phone and want to cancel a line you can do so. My mother payed off and cancelled her line a few days ago, and she's had the phone since day 1.

I'm willing to bet this is a tremendous amount of smoke with no fire. If there really is a Prime, then either Samsung would have to be able to charge a so far unachievable price for the device, or the S5 would get the fastest price markdown since the original iPhone.
Not
Gonna
Happen
I'm betting the G-906 is just yet another variation of gadget spam, just like the S4 had.

TIZEN
I actually wonder if these rumors have to do with TIZEN OS devices - to go with the watches -
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/smar...un-android-and-release-tizen-phones-this-year
Maybe thats why - Samsung going to make the JUMP with a HIGHER quality model for their OS devices - to make it more of an option then just the popular android version?
I mean think about it - if u had your choice with tizen or andorid on the same hardware - wouldn't you just stay with android?
I would be pissed if they did release a prime version. I bought the s5 at launch, because Samsung said there was nothing to those rumors. If one does come out, then they should have said something, and I would have waited to upgrade.
I am disappointed.

seriously? ICS was laggy as hell.
It depends on a screen size (and free funds to spend of course ). If the screen size is 5" or bigger I will consider N4 of HTC One.

My upgrade is in September so I still have some time to go. If Google comes out with a vastly improved nexus without a recycled design from another device. By vastly improved I'm talking about Camera quality, LTE, full HD screen and battery life. Sure I'll go for the nexus 5 but if they don't improve all those than I'm going to contemplate jumping ship.

Hmmmm...Nexus 5. If you'll note, the current nexus lineup are all named according to the display size. For Google to add a 4th nexus device to the lineup is unlikely (to much to manage), so the best guess is a refresh of the nexus 4, possibly by another manufacturer, and probably later in the year. What we can expect for I/O is a refresh on the nexus 7 (with the same name), and possibly a non-nexus device from Motorola that runs stock Android.

I think we could expect a new phone as well. Considering that key lime pie is a major update, there is bound to be new features for phones not just tablets. So they will be probably need another device to show off the new features of the new build. I'm doubting they will use a nexus 4 as a demo device, its already fairly old news.

I saw this article yesterday but didn't know if it was true or not. Would you sell/trade you're current Nexus 4 for the Google Edition Samsung Galaxy S4? Will the Samsung Galaxy S4 be the exact same as the Nexus from a software perspective since it's pure Android?
I'm not a big fan of the Samsung build quality (ie plastic) but know there are a lot of nexus 4 owners that would like 32GB and a removable battery.

It doesn't matter if it's true or not. The Galaxy S4 supports AOSP. Those who want AOSP know what to do. That's just how I see it.
If it's unlocked and reasonably priced (maybe... like $400 for a 16gb model) I would absolutely jump ship for the S4. To me, a changeable battery and microSD card are killer features.
However, I don't anticipate it being much cheaper than a standard unlocked S4, so I probably won't be buying it.

Well, not sure what to think of a google s4 version priced at $649 available at the google playstore soon.
If it becomes successful, that would definitely have a negative effect on the cheaper nexus devices.
Google I/O confirms this.
June 26, $649, 16GB only, ATT/TMobile with LTE support.
It's official just heard it on Google I/O 2013, 16GB with expandable storage, LTE, unlocked bootloader (works on AT&T and T-Mobile) and updates from Google for $649 on Google Play starting late June 26th. So who is getting it?

Their goal is to obviously get people to use and be entrenched in the Touchwiz ecosystem.

What kind of insurance are you talking about? Insurance through a carrier, third party insurance like Square Trade, or something like renter's insurance? Whichever it is, it seems pretty dodgy. My experience with insurance providers is that they can do/not do whatever they feel like. If it isn't something huge like a house or a car, I don't usually buy insurance for just that reason.

If they can't replace it, then they should simply cut you a check to buy it again (minus the deduction). The S4 is more similar then the S3.
Tell them you want an S4 or $350.
The S3 is similar to the Galaxy Nexus (last gen).
I love the Nexus Line, but with the S4 being AOSP now, I wouldn't mind picking up the S4.

Lucky bastard.
I bought an Active on 8/9, and by 8/13 I was in an AT&T store replacing it with a new Active. That Active only lasted until 8/16. Worst part was that I was on vacation the whole time and unable to use my phone during a 17 hour drive home from Florida. The memory card still works but I'm done with Samsung's poor quality control. This isn't the first poorly made Samsung I've owned or had issues with, but it will be my last.

Just because this phone isn't popular doesn't mean Samsung won't update it. Hell they send updates out for the rugby and the other oddball Samsung phones that att has. I am thinking we will at least get 4.3 when the original s4 does which is slated for next month.

sure but my point is why worry about something that doesn't have an available update yet? Usually leaks happen before updates are even released OTA. I would wait until we have a 4.3 update to see if we can get it somehow or if there is an odin flash or what. I am sure we will have a way soon... just hold on you may not be able to upgrade the MF3 but probably other releases.

Samsung's official statement on the matter says that
"Samsung designed and tested the Galaxy S 4 Active to adhere to IP67 standards for water resistance (1 meter for 30 minutes). If your Galaxy S 4 Active has been damaged due to water exposure, bring it back to an AT&T retail store as soon as possible for a one-time exchange for another Galaxy S 4 Active."

This.
I'd also trade for a new AR15. Hey, it's a "device". You didn't say it had to be a cellular device.
I'd pick a T-Mo Note3.
Nothing has come out in recent months that's made me wish I had something else - I just wish we had an unlocked bootloader like T-Mo people.
The OLED screen is IMO a must-have, I really think they look better than LCDs - and of course, it's gotta be full HD, and >5 inches. That right there cuts out most of the options!
And it's gotta have a micro SD card slot as well, otherwise I can't carry my music around (and cloud music doesn't work in subway/etc - not to mention that music is something too important to trust to the cloud).
Only thing I wish it had was IP67 dust+water resistance - and it sounds like that's going to be in Sammy's galaxy line now, based on what we saw with S5 announcement.
I can honestly say there is no other device out there that I would want. My AT&T Note 3 suits me just fine.
Planning to get the new HTC One when it's released, in large part because of the unlocked bootloader and the original was my favorite device other than the N3. I just hated the camera.
