I have rooted Verizon G2 running with custom recovery. The other way, I accidentally updated it through OTA and it kept going into recovery loop.
I fixed that issue with help from this forum and reverted back to stock (4.4.2) using KDZ method. However, the OTA notification keep coming back up.
My question here is if I hard reset my phone, would it go back to the original factory setting? I just want to reset the whole thing and go back to the original factory setting and then update it through OTA. What is the best way to do this?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Thanks for your advice. So I guess, I can't just hard reset the rooted phone and go back to the original factory setting?

No... a "hard reset" will wipe out data, cache, and dalvik, root is stored in /system which is not touched in FDR.

Use the software to get back to ZV8, get the OTA ZV9 upgrade, and you're set.

Hi all. I've got two VZW LG G2s that are rooted, and the current KitKat update continues to download and fail. Is there any way to force the update?
VZW support suggests a factory reset and I dont' want to do that for sure.

Do you still have the stock recovery? You need it for this update to take.

Thanks for the reply. So I guess I'd have to do a factory reset, or is there a way to unroot?

If you need the stock recovery back, easiest thing to do is wipe the phone back to stock using the flashtool then let it take the OTA, you can re-root with ioroot25 afterwards and if you need TWRP, re-install it with AutoRec.

Most of it's listed in there. Use AutoRec to install TWRP, you can find it in the regular G2 Dev section.
Hi folks.
I bought an Xperia Z a few months ago. The guy I bought i off told me that he had done a factory reset. However, it wouldn't seems so as I found some photos and other bits still on the device. (Nothing worth sharing if you are wondering :silly
Anyhow, last night, having avoided doing a software update for a long time I ended up running it. This was because Media Go was not transferring all my music. So I thought maybe the software update might fix that. It didn't.
Amongst some other minor things it has split the drop-down menu into two sections: Notifications & Quick Settings. This is really annoying and I preferred the older menu. So I figured: FULL RESET. Surely this would revert it to the former state.
Not a chance. It seems to load now with the latest version of all the software and apps. Is there a way of amending this, surely it should revert to factory settings ?
Do factory reset YOURSELF!
And about the update, nothing to worry about

This doesn't answer my question.
Surely a factory reset should reset the phone so that i has the original firmware on it ????????

A factory reset sets your phone settings and deletes your data. It can't change the system. If you want to go back to 4.3 or lower you have to manually flash a ftf file via flashtool

1. What ROM were you running before you went back to stock?
2. How, exactly, step by step, did you flash back to stock?
3. Did you do a factory reset after flashing back to stock?
4. If not, did you do any sort of wipe after flashing back to stock?

I'm not familiar with that method, but if you didn't wipe data (factory reset) afterwards, that's probably what messed things up. It's always recommended to wipe your data after going between roms, especially roms as different as CM and the stock rom. Backup your data and try a factory reset.

You did a factory reset that quickly? Hmm. Well if you want to flash stock as cleanly as possible, and really start from scratch, follow section 0 of this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-install-t3292684. If that doesn't fix your phone, I don't have any other ideas.

Hi bro no luck still the same
In fastboot use command "fastboot oem config fsg-id verizon_gsm" or "fastboot oem config fsg-id verizon" for CDMA, after that your stock ROM will see baseband and you must to uninstall motorola sensor services, after that bootloader will see baseband version too.
Hi All,
If I already rooted, but using an official Samsung rom, what is the best way to reset to factory defaults? I am afraid that if I do it from within the menu to factory reset, I might break things. Is there anything special I have to do? I don't mind if I will lose root. Thanks!

You can also google/download the SamFirm tool or use the updato.com website to get the latest firmware for your device...both are free and they are also faster than sammobile.
