Hi, I really love this tablet lineup alot. I have the tf300t and it has alot of Developer Support. I love this brand specifically because it allows me to type up school related documents when I need to and has an awesome battery life. I wanted to get the TF701, but it seems completely empty on the developer support. Why is this? Is it a crappy tablet? Does no one care about this tablet anymore?
If this isn't a suggested tablet, what is a suggested one that has a keyboard with it?

This tablet is good. It may not be the best but people complain about everything even though ALIENS MADE IT!
Just look at all the complaints below this thread. They killed it. End of story.
No I dont know really. I think the developement is has been quite good so far. It might not be busy here but that could change.

Hey man, I seriously am so appreciative for all you work man. I used CROMI-X all the time on my tf300t. Your Rom and the AOSP roms motivated me to stay with the tf300t. You have done an awesome job and I appreciate all your time with your ROMS.
I guess I have gotten spoiled with having the opportunity of tasting all the different Roms Available for devices like the the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4 and the TF300t.
I was just curious if the lack of developers on this tablet made me think there was a serious issue with the tablet.
Now doing some research, even the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet doesn't have much developer support either even after being so popular.

And that's exactly it: The TF701 and the Z2 may just be so good on stock that there is very little demand for development. Any market is ruled by demand and supply - even free one's [emoji189]

I agree, that TF701 performs pretty darn well with the stock rom. While the TF700 begged for custom roms (to solve issues like the need to turn off FSYNC), it took me a lot longer to unlock the device and install the customized sbdags version. His version is awesome, but I agree that the need is not as apparent as it was on previous devices, presumably because the hardware is better.
That being said, it also seems like the user base for the TF701 is not quite there either....
Maybe cause the 701T just came out recently?

I wonder if it might be also because the tegra 3 has been around since the tf300? along with the nexus 7. So they had something to work from. I dont know if that has anything to do with it though.
Stock when rooted is just so good, for me at least. I would hate to lose the productivity apps built into the stock Rom if I change it.

Theres sbdags App installer remover as well. Cant recall what apps could be installed and working for cm.

Sbdags is a God, there is no question about it. His efforts and those of the other developers are the reasons Android is so great.
I wonder if the custom rooms have this feature present in the stock Rom where I could just bring up floating apps by just clicking the button on the left.
P.S. Don't know why the attached screenshot is blurry. It is clear when viewed through the gallery.

So while at my PC yesterday playing/customizing/worshiping my Gnome3 desktop I had this idea:
What if I could make a Gnome3 launcher for Android? I think the whole minimal style of Gnome3 would be appropriate for a mobile device, and being open source maybe makes it easier. The sad part is that I'm just a graphic designer and I cannot code a single line.
What do you guys think?
Could that be interesting/useful?
Is any coder interested?
I made this mock up for you:

For those of you who are unfamiliar to the new Gnome3 desktop environment go to gnome3.org to get a taste:
That app drawer is rather pretty/ perfect.
Sadly, I do not know any coding either, and am purely on the design side of things. (nor do I know the Gnome3 UI)
I think if you take a look at gnome3.org you will find many great ideas, for a phone UI and even better for a tablet.
I'm not sure though if all these could be somehow be ported to android.
Would that be a home replacement? A total new custom ROM like MIUI?
I have no idea, but I think it could be really interesting!
I think that a gnome 3 launcher for android could be nice
If is like the screenshots, i think that its interesting

but I have to say... this is a really good idea.
I shall begin work shortly. >
I'll post a market link once I'm done.
Look a bit like webOS... But webOS looks amazing. So why not?
...hmm
I right about now wish I could code and make this a whole new ROM. I have dabbled in HTML and Javascript and took some C++ before but I am not a coder by any means. I would like to see this turn to a full blow ROM though. Launcher or even a theme would be cool though.
yes a good idea. im all for this project
I'm really glad you guys like it! My initial idea was indeed a full blown ROM based on Gnome3 but I thought it would be extremely difficult so I thought a launcher would be easier.
Of course, with the news of ubuntu on android and the inclusion of android back in the linux kernel 3.3 maybe makes it a little easier, but that would be a whole new beast!
Anyway, if you need help or want to work together on this, I'm all yours!
Thank you all for your interest!

Hey iandr0idos,
I'm very interested in one particular thought. Given you tidy up/complete the launcher, will it be able to scale so that tablets can use it too? I could install nookbuntu but I like ICS better lol. And that was actually the other thing... would it be cross-compatible between GB and ICS? My Nook runs ICS but my phone runs Harmonia GB. I really enjoy thinking outside of the box and I thank the OP for thinking of this idea before me. This is a really interesting and frankly groundbreaking concept. ESPECIALLY for tablets. I find very few UIs more smooth and simplistic than Gnome 3. Currently I've been playing with Launcher7 (Metro UI-like launcher) and I like that but nothing hits home like Gnome 3. You and the OP should work together. You're the code wiz and he is the artist. I hope we get to taste a little Gnome 3 on our mobiles.
I love it, hope you can get it done.

I think what really differentiates these ROMs is the customization. If it's still just stock Touchwiz, I doubt we'd notice any difference.
But good job. Maybe when you have a custom theme or post some screenshots

Sweet. Another 1 star vote. I should just have this thread deleted. Thanks to everyone for supporting me and telling me what to fix. /sarcasm. Maybe I should give up developing since nobody seems to like my ROMs.
Dude you dont need to be pissed off these people, actually the development of the tab roms is getting slow and you are the only one who posted the last two roms, a great job just by posting these thread to keep the development ongoing, probably the one that rated your rom 1 star is 10 year old kid mostly just trolling around.

Alright, I'm sure some people will get a little crazy about this subject but I'm just wondering what others think...
We all love our Android devices and how open and free they feel but some of us like the "quality" of an iPhone..
I've been debating whether to stick to android or try out iOS. Now I know how great android is and how limited iOS can be but I haven't been able to find anything where someone talks about rooted android devices vs JB'd iPhones.. we all the android is better than an iPhone when they are both not hacked or rooted but what do you guys think is the better device for development and features after its been hacked?
I've seen some pretty cool stuff on iPhone but I also love how we can replace our stock apps to have different themes or better functions, etc.
I basically just want to know what everyone's thoughts our about this.

Android OS is superior regardless if it is Rooted or iOS is Jailbroke or not. From what I hear JBing an iDevice makes it slow and unstable, whereas rooting and Android device can only improve its performance. Jailbreaking doesn't get you out of the garden, it only puts a hole in the wall you can look out. Now if you were to say you would like to carry both I can understand, but just trading from Android to iOS is a bad idea development wise.
Edit: I am Android biased of course, but long story short you can see from my sig I do have some value for iOS. If I had to choose only one it would be Android, easy choice. But I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy owning both. Although I think an iPhone over an Android phone would be a huge mistake for anybody except older people that are unfamiliar with tech.

OP...I'm not seeing the need to get an iPhone other than buying into the hype about Apple products. You know darn well that Android devices can do the same and more. If you want the iPhone look, use a MIUI rom.
There's tons of threads in this forum alone comparing Apple vs. Android and the consensus most of the time is Android devices are better.

True but this time it's not the OP's fault. This thread came from a different forum.
I had the chance to use both of them and prefer android devices for a long list of reasons. I bought an ipad because well everyone on teh interwebs said it was best and that android tablets were not ready yet. after 2months i sold it, i wouldve sold it earlier but i wanted to wait for the ipad 2 jailbreak in case it improved anything. indeed it could add some features at the cost of stability and speed. at tnis time i already had an android phone and knew that android was moar capable especially when rooted, and so i sold my ipad to get a galaxy tab plus, and i would never switch back.
reasons for idevices were the higher density of high quality apps, which by now isnt true anymore. spontaneously i would say, unless you really really need that one app which is ios only, dont get an idevice.

You're far too nice
I know there are other post like this but they haven't helped me in any way...yea I would love to carry both devices...if I could then I wouldn't have created this thread..I had an itouch before and I enjoyed it for a very long time...but when your look at iOS it seems more complete. Yea I love android and if I were to switch it would be difficult...another reason, look at the support for jb'd idevices...with android phones if u want good development then your selection of phones is really slimmed down.....for example, at Verizon they have a lot of cool phones, one of the best out now is the razr, but there's crappy development because of a locked bootloader...so its like if you don't get a nexus( or similar device) then your basically s.o.l. when it comes to development.. I think most people can agree that it sucks that u can't get the phone that you really want because you know there isn't great support behind it

Hey all.
Basically i just want to hear all your thoughts on your current devices, and what you think of the next device in that product family.
My thoughts.
My first android device was the Motorola defy which really sold android for me, the fact i could treat a phone horribly by accident and it not care was a really solid selling point. The developer community for it was really quite strong too, it even receiving CM10 before my current S2.
The original transformer isn't the prettiest, lightest and fastest tablet anymore (not that it was ever lightest SO MUCH GLASS) but it was and is my first tablet and still works amazingly today. Good job Asus.
My current phone is the Samsung Galaxy S 2 which i bought outright after everyone that had one giving raving reviews and a quick view of the forum showed a very active community. Little did i know the issues the developers faced to get the aosp roms working properly, it is not pretty and it is entirely the fault of Samsung and their hardware partners (I am looking at you, yamaha). I know this and love the developers for supporting my S2 so well, especially codeworkx whom has been moving devices lately.
I love the idea of getting the S3, but i would only be going for the larger screen and if all i want is the larger screen why not go even larger and get the Note 2? Especially after its drop test video. It is a tank of a phone.
The One X+ Kind of interests me with unlocked bootloaders etc. But the fact i have to flash the kernel separately to the ROM every time (or at least that is my understanding) would really annoy me.
After the defy i would rush to a unlocked bootloader on a Motorola. That and screen size were the only issues i had with my defy.
But my current plan runs out in December which is only a few months away and i would love some ideas on devices coming into Christmas season.
Currently i am thinking Note 2, but i don't want to have half baked aosp roms because of hardware support. Ideas?
And yes doing a BYO 6 month plan with my local carrier is an option.
How bout this one?

I have the SGSIII and the One X. In the case of the One X (not the One X+ but it's basically a refresh of the One X) yes, you do have to extract and flash the boot.img via your pc using fastboot and the flash the modules via recovery...not as bad as it sounds. It's a great phone.
The SGSIII not only has a bigger screen but a higher resolution than the SGSII. There are many ROMs for it and in the case of the US variants I've flashed ROMs made for the AT&T variant on my T-Mobile one. (The international version also has great development.)

Thanks Babydoll one of my friends has the one x which i rooted/cm10ed for him the other day, it was an interesting look into HTC custom roms and i must say it is not overly difficult or anything. And i did see the scripts Tommy was talking about, they would be nice in easing the transition. How do you find the one x build quality? I heard it was hit and miss between users.

I'm interested in MIUI, MIUI is pretty but I probably won't run it for long before I switch back, maybe 3 weeks max.

how about 'you funny'
Bah, i m also looking forward to it!
People here usualy poo-poo MIUI, although they will claim anywhere else that Android=choice... Don't worry too much about this logic issue
OP, if you look at the MIUI forums, they have launched beta builds for Gnex and believe me there are a lot of bugs now. Once, it passes onto stable, someone or I might port it for mako.
Miui is always lagging way far behind Google on Android versions. And the version that they are on is usually very bug ridden. I like it but I hate dealing with major bugs, little bugs don't bother me to much.

Well, I ve tried V5 on the i9000, and it s simply so slow it cannot be used.
I also tried on the i9300, and it is quite nice over there, so there's hope.
But I agree, it is not as fast as a nice aosp/cm 10.1/AOKP ^^.
I like how different it looks, and weither I ll use it for a long time or not, well, let's see!
I d give a spin to iOS if it were ported, just for the sake of running it on the N4, ahha

You should look into the reason they are poo-pooed....they are a china development house and do alot of shady things. But you seem to have the logic part down so you'll not need to Google or anything.
I cannot wait to try MIUI on my Nexus 4. I been waiting for it since I bought my phone.

Yeah, i know what they say, with the spying and the stealing and the burning of houses...
Anyway..I understand what you mean, didn t want to start a thing here. I just like it, no matter the valid reasons ^^
When talking about logic, I was refering to people saying , 'it looks too much like iPhone, blah'... Which isn t the point I think
Can't wait to run it although I always end up switching to vanilla like 2 days later haha
