[Q] 24A Baseband Flash - No 4G - Verizon LG G2

Everyone - In preparing to flash tp xdabbeb's ROM, I wound up inadvertently wiping not only the cache but the system files on my vzw LG G2 as well. The only thing left was twrp 2.7.
Thanks to ADB I was able to sideload xdabbeb's ROM as well as the vs980_1xx_to_24a_twrp ROM. Everything is back now, however the phone is only using 3G for signal and not 4G. Could this be related to flashing the 24a ROM on a clean phone (no 11a or 12b existed). Or, is this an anomaly that should take care of itself?
Any help most appreciated.
Thanks.

Wild guess is you're still on old radios, what's your baseband version in Settings, About Phone?

I had this problem flashing 24a flex Rom. I restarted phone after installing the baseband and all was well

[Q] catching up on VZW G2 and radio/modem questions

Hey guys,
Just picked up my LG G2 and I'm trying to get caught up on everything going on with development. I got it rooted and flashed TWRP 2.7 and LiquidSmooth, but I don't really understand the radios/modem flashing. I'm currently on 11a. I flashed 12b a couple days ago but started having major issues with just hangouts not receiving messages while the phone was sleeping which was a little weird. I flashed it back to 11a and works fine now. Any ideas what would cause this? Any major issues with any of the radios? Can we just flash them, test them out, then flash back?
Thanks!

I'm fairly certain you can test it out as long as you backed up the efs beforehand http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451390 but I'm also experiencing weird problems with the radio I think its that my rom uses T-mobile LTE and Verizon for everything else. :/

Radios only seem to control WiFi, data, and rotation.
When I was on 11a I flash the 12b radio and didn't notice any gain, or issues from it. If you're not having an issue with LTE or WiFi hand offs or anything, then there is really no reason to mess with flashing radios.
Its possible that's why you're having issues with your MMS. They send via data. I'm on liquid and haven't noticed the problem myself, but with some Roms I've had to turn off WiFi to get MMS to work. Not sure if you're on WiFi or not.
Not sure if you did it, but if you choose to flash radios, make a backup of your efs. In the radio thread he links his other thread where he has a flashible zip that backs up your efs so you can email it to yourself or put it on a PC.
Radios can screw up your efs, and if it does you're screwed. If contains your imei number it each phone had their own. There's no way to get it back.
Also you might know but other people might not
Modem, radio, and baseband, are all the same thing. People just call them what they choose.

VZW KK APN Settings

Somehow during my update to the 24A baseband, I lost my APN settings (there are no entries), and therefore have no mobile data ("Mobile Network State: Disconnected"). Where can I find the APN settings for my vzw g2? I found a site that claimed to have the correct VZW apn settings (can't post links yet, just google "buzzmobile verizon apn" and it's the top result) but for some reason, whenever I try and set the MNC to 012, the entire APN entry disappears from the menu. Entering all the other settings and leaving the MNC at its default (I think it was 004) didn't resolve my internet connection. Any ideas? I was thinking I could probably revert to stock KK using the kdz method, but since that'd be rather time consuming, if there's any way I could just flash a quick fix or something I'd prefer that.
I'm running Mahdi 6-28 build, V6 patch, 4.4.4 PA mini gapps, 24A baseband
After several hours of searching and troubleshooting I found a fix. Trying to make APN entries didn't lead anywhere, and editing the apn-conf.xml also did nothing. I had flashed 4 or 5 different 4.4.4 roms (some stock, some AOSP) and still nothing, but for whatever reason, doing a wipe and flashing XDABBEB's VS98024A v1.2.1 ROM (can't post link sorry) fixed my mobile data. I then did a system/cache/dalvik/data wipe and reinstalled Mahdi 6-28 and boom I have Mahdi with working LTE. Sorry for the spam I guess, but maybe this will help anyone having similar issues.

Ran into the same exact issue on a friend's phone. Going to try this out. Regardless if it works, thanks for the post!
UPDATE: It worked. The 24a bootstack includes the new modem and properly formats relevant partitions. I flashed XDABBEB's ROM just to replicate your exact procedure but this shouldn't be necessary. The bootstack is all that is needed when coming from a 12b rom.

Having the same issue and flashing the 24a bootstack without the ROM does nothing. About to return this phone, it seems like nothing works correctly unless you are on the POS bloated stock ROM. What a shame, such potential on this device. Oh well.

Return it to stock, let it take the KK OTA, root it, autorec for recovery, flash your 24A based rom of choice, that always works for me.
I had Carbon running fine on mine til I got bit by the black line issue. I haven't put AOSP on the replacement, probably will soon..

Trying this now, returning to 11a robbed me of my LTE for some reason though... doesn't even show up in the network info screen that shows the 3g/1x/LTE signal strength... weird...

Haha I should have clarified. I meant that flashing the 24a bootstack and THEN flashing a 24a-based rom should do the trick. Flashing the 24a bootstack, XDABBEB's rom, and then (clean) flashing another 24a-based rom is redundant.
Thanks, doesn't matter now. Phone fell 1 foot and cracked to hell and touchscreen no longer works.

Most recent ROM even tho I am on T-Mobile now (VS980)

Recently I moved from Verizon service to T-Mobile for my Verizon LG G2 (VS980). It is currently running 24A, rooted, debloated with custom recovery but I want to go back to stock and get up to the most recent stock ROM, rooted, debloated with custom recovery so I can back it up and then move forward with Cloudy G3. What is the best way to accomplish this since an OTA is out of the question at this point? Is there a 'back to stock' version of the most recent that I can use and then root, debloat and get custom recovery? Is there a version I can install that meets all my requirements?
I'd go with this rom, follow the instructions, there are steps to update your baseband to 26A.

Thanks for the reply. I installed the one you recommended and didn't really care for the ROM. I also installed Paranoid Android and CloudyG3. I end up with CloudyG3 being the new one for me as of right now. Everything works with the exception of tethering (tablet will connect but not get out to the internet) and T-Mobile App (it states it doesn't see a T-Mobile SIM but there is one in the phone). ROM seems responsive and very clean so far. Unfortunately it is 24a Baseband, which I can live with I guess. Hopefully CloudyG3 will get a Lollipop update soon as word is the G3's will be getting Lollipop within the next couple weeks. If anyone knows how to get tethering to work with a Verizon LG G2 on T-Mobile with CloudyG3 I would love to know the secret.

switching roms
somewhat of a noob here...I am on verizon 26a modem, running xdabebb's G3 rom that was ported to the G2. Can i just flash this over top? Or do I need to work about Kernel issues? Also, does knock on/off work?

You'll need to flash the modem I have posted. And yes, knock-on/knock-off work! Enjoy!
Attempted to flash
Flashed 12b radio, but then got this error after I started to flash ROM. It started then after it flashed supersu I got the following:
unmount of /system failed; no such volume
assert failed: run_program("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0
Can you help?
What recovery are you using? Also, did you do a clean install and in the order I posted?
beanstalk L is amazing...BUT!
I love the setup of this ROM..plenty of options plenty of customizations HOWEVER I've had two issues that are rather aggravating.. While using Pandora it will intermittently stop playing music to the point of having to reset the app...(might try uninstall and reinstall?) Also I'm having an issue that started while using Pandora and now happens every 15 mins it would seem (have not timed it) but its rather regular that my phone will reset randomly..tried wiping cache and dalvik and fixing permissions and it still does it! Any ideas??
did you do a clean install?
Doing well
yes i did, infact i flashed over to another 5.0 version just like the beanstalk build and it was nice but i wasnt satisfied with the overall layout like i was with beanstalk so i flashed back to beanstalk and ever since ive had 0 issues, its turned into my daily driver and i enjoy it throughly, thanks for posting this one up m8!
Quick question here. Does this have the ability to bypass VZW for the tethering/hotspot?
Great work
the best lollipop rom with no bugs and lot of options with great battery life for my vs980
I have a rooted lg g2 verizon with 24a, Can I flash this rom downloading to 12b without any problem ??
@mrlugo88
- If I understand what you are asking, yes. Tethering/Hotspot is enabled without the need to pay for the service from VZW!
@ycruzb
- You shouldn't have a problem. I've gone from 24A to 12B to 27A, etc without any issues.
No Cellular or Wifi
I ran into such a headache installing due to my own blunder, but now I have it working. I have to add, I LOVE the boot animation. Had to get past the Setup Wizard and reflash the 12B Radio to get signal on WiFi, but I cannot get data signal over LTE?
Baseband: 12B-M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190050
Network: NAM1
Mobile Network Type: CDMA -eHRPD [this is odd, as I have STRONG LTE signal]
Roaming: Roaming [I'm aware this is known?]
Edit: Flashed back to stock 11A. No signal. took OTA to 12B, gained 4G LTE signal. Then future OTA's granted me signal as well.
Any idea what I might have done?
rom issues
Hi guys, I have a Verizon LG G2 (vs980) with a 24a radio. The rom not works for me, the flashing process gives me an error then I have flashed the 12b radio via twrp (2.8.4.0 version) and now my device is not booting on my stock rom (the verizon logo is showing up but anything else is going on ...). I know that I can flash the 24a radio to restore my previous radio but I didn't copied the zip of the 24a radio to the phone, so my question is how to copy the zip of the 24a radio to the phone via adb for flash it with the twrp ??
I hope you can help me, please !!!
I had to flash back to 11A via a .tot file, then upgrade all the way to 27A via OTA. I then did stump brute-force for root, flashed TWRP Recovery, then flashed to this ROM. It is working incredibly.

Hi! You should be able to use adb in TWRP. Which version TWRP are you running? You can also enable MTP in TWRP and then copy right from your PC. Also, did you did a clean install?
Thanks!
longtime lurker, firstime post--just wanted to say thanks for posting a solid rom and then following up with an update!
SIM card not recognized
Hi everyone, I have flashed this rom (5.0025) and it's amazing but doesn't recognize the sim card. I have a Verizon LG G2 (vs980 with 24a, downloaded to 12b with the flashing process) mobile on GSM. Some help please !!!!! I love lollipop and this rom.
I'm coming from a 27a build, I wanted to try lollipop, so I tried to flash this but i received an error
E:error executing updater binary in zip. '/sdcard/download/beanstalk-
I received error flashing both builds.
I'm on twrp v2.8.1.1
Dwnld via mega
Thanks for any help
I can't seem to get init.d working. Can anyone confirm that this is working for them, and if so, did it work on a clean flash, or did you need to workaround?

Help can't flash back to kitkat

Hello everyone, I have a VS980, I was running crdroid 4.4.2 rom and in order to flash CM12, I flashed the 12b modem, everything went well with CM12, After that one I flashed a Lollipop Resurection rom, then I flashed another Lollipop based rom, Bliss to be exact.
on that last rom I flashed Render Kernel which I didn't know was Bumped (I don't know how to go about Bump! so I was trying to stay away from it). the thing is that now I'm trying to flash back to a cloudy G3 rom (Kitkat based ) and i always end up in a bootloop (the phone reboots straight to TWRP recovery on its own). I have already tried flashing the 24a bootstack from xdabbeb's thread. and also tried flashing the Kitkat modem and I still can't flash back to cloudy. Luckily I still can flash back to Bliss Lollipop Rom, which is the one I'm running right now.
Sorry for the long explanation. Could anyone please Help me?
PS: Any insight as to how does BUMP! work (or at least a FAQ about using it vs loki based zips would be great).
Hello, anyone?
Since you are on a Verizon VS980, I would recommend using the G3 rom specifically for our phones. Cloudy G3 rom doesn't work with the Stock Messaging app, along with Visual VM and several others. The radio keeps flipping to GSM WorldWide mode and roams.
I recommend this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g2/development/xdabbeb-s-vs982-5-v1-0-0-t2975551
It also uses the BUMPed recovery... so you should be able to just wipe and flash with ease. Just flash the Bootstack update first, wipe, rom, celebrate.
I actually came from Cloudy G3 directly. It feels like the CloudyG3 rom except it is custom tailored for our Verizon phones specifically so everything works better.
