Hey guys,
I was looking at buying this phone for myself and saw a faulty one that randomly restarts. Could this be a easy fix for me or could it possible be hardware related?
Appreciate all help

Could be many things... hard to say without any information.
Imagine if you call a car mechanics and you tell him ''I want to buy a car with an engine that randomly stops, could this be easy to fix or not?''
Then, he would probably ask you:
What you (or last owner) did with the car (phone) before it broke?
What car (phone variant) is it exactly? (fastboot getvar all)
What engine model inside that car (what rom)?
Any modification on the car (phone)? Root, unlocked booltoader, s-off, kernel?
And why would you want to buy a defective car (phone)?

So what your saying is that it's a gamble or a shot in the dark... I'll ask the seller a few of the questions and see what the reply is. If it's software, could I fix it myself or would I need to send it to HTC (wouldn't buy the phone then).
Thanks for the help though :good:

Yes this is a shot in the dark. Most software issue can be solved. There are some exceptions. Better to stay away from that device. If it would be an easy fix, that guy would probably have fixed it himself instead of selling it.

I did get a message back, just start to happen randomly in the morning, never been rooted, had a ROM flashed, s-off or tampered with...
They have said that they doesn't have the knowledge to install "new software" to the phone. I don't think they do know a great deal then?
What would be a good offer (In pounds)? I am looking for a new phone anyway but if it isn't a fixer upper then I'll re-sell it.

Sounds like your easy to con,
I could put you in touch with quite a few people, they have loads of stuff they want to get rid off..
Seriously, we hear this in XDA forums all the time..
" I bought it new, never touched it and somehow its suddenly found itself rooted. Help I've got to get it back to stock for warranty ". Tell him you will try it out for a few hours.
So before you get it. Install HTC sync, then uninstall it. The drivers will remain. Download adb and fastboot. Put them all in a folder on your desktop. In the mean time read all the guides on HTC but mostly Q&As. By the time you get it, you may be able to sort it out all by yourself.

It is around 7 months old though (forgot to include that) Also, I still haven't bought it yet as I am still thinking whether to or not as it could indeed be a con or unfixable....

Does anyone have any knowledge of working QPST? I bricked (yes I take full blame) my g/f's Vivid while trying to update to ICS. Just like various others on here it appears everything has been deleted from the phone....including the bootloader. But after a couple of days of working with it I have finally been able to get windows to recognize and install the qualcomm drivers. I have installed the latest copy of QPST and it recognizes the phone on com6 in download mode.
Does anyone have ANY IDEAS?? The sad thing for me is I traded my g/f's iPhone to get her this Vivid....so there is no way to exchange it under warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

QPST is for very very low level nand access, it can even change the partition tables, if i were u i would be EXTREMELY carefull using it.
I understand the dangers of using QPST......but being the phone is already bricked and there doesn't seem to be any way to resolve the issue without sending the phone back to HTC, I am willing to try. So, I ask again, does anyone know how to use QPST??
RIFF box is the only option!! I guess
I am online checking out the RIFF box....have you already ordered one?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
No i dont , But I have a friend who does, else I wil just take it to Local HTC , im sure they can fix it !!!
Riffbox doesnt support our chipset.
You need to find the hex files for download mode in QPST and go from there.
OK. Do you have ANY idea where those can be found?

PMed.
To anyone looking for answers towards the QPST route:
Start googleing, I haven't the slightest clue where you'll come across the .hex files for our phone.
For anyone hoping that Riffbox will soon support our chipset:
I wouldn't hold my breath, HTC has started to implement "JTAG fuses" (Kinda like on the Xbox) so even if it was supported, your chance of JTAG access is very unlikely.

In otherwords, we don't have the phone firmware required (.hex and .mbn files which I neglected to put in my previous post). The Sensation, on the other hand, does.
Sensation firmware =/= Vivid firmware
Hi Travis , can we be atleast sure that HTC can fix it !!! I hope its not beyond REPAIR LOL
Bring the whole phone back to AT&T (at one of their warranty centers), you should at least have a one year warranty. Tell them that one day it just stopped working.
Even though your warranty may be voided, they won't be able to find that out if it's bricked. If they want to find out, they'd have to unbrick it first.
So, one of two things may happen:
1) They will not ask any questions and replace the phone.
2) They will put it under a deeper inspection, unbrick it, and say that they can't go any further because of the unlocked bootloader (but, the phone will not be bricked anymore and they'll just give it back to you).
This is only a theory haha, don't quote me and say it didn't work.
hope a fix can be found soon, I have one too

did you send the phone to them? did you got it back? did you had to pay anything?
Okay, obviously I was rooted. Everything was great. I went into CWM, when I was going to flash a simple script mod (which every phone can use) well I accidently clicked off into my SGII files (which of course was stupid of me) and it installed fluxii kernel for SGH-i777. (intern flashes a custom recovery for the xx tweaker that that particular kernel uses. Of course, I didn't even realize I had done it, just went to Reboot Now. Now, I've got no Download mode, no bootloader, no anything, just blackness, I feel as if there is a simple key process or way to somehow get it fixed so I can flash it back via ODIN, but with all the confusing button combo's and ideas I've found so far, and all the ' types of bricks ' I dont know the best route about doing this, whomever helps me get my phone unbricked/unsoftbricked/superbricked/cute bricked, which ever version (assuming its possible) I swear on my life I will mail them a 32GB HP touchpad.
(I have 3 and only need 2) so, I hope this in some way will get me an answer soon.
I cantbelieve I pulled a n00b. No more not moving data from SD cards for me ever again...
Thanks, and the sooner the better.
Mail me here, or gmail me ( [email protected]) or heck text me if you want (i have my SGII still) just message me priavtely for the number. Thanks you guys you're the best.

I would rccomend trying to use Odin to see if it recognizes your phone? You may have to get a USB jig to force it into download mode and you may be able to save it that way I'm pretty sure a jig would work

Yeah thats Kinda my thinking as well unfortunately, Why the hell cant they sell them at like, I derno, the "rooted developer" store? hell Samsung should just include them in the box with as easy as root is. lmao What I don't get, is why the hell someone can't make a ' USB JIG ' out of their computer, or you know, something to tickle that little ports happy spot lmfao

why cant they sell these damn jigs on craigslist for immediate satisfaction? oh well some idiot just offered to trade me one of my 3 SGII's I own for a note and 50 bucks haha "I WANT IT UNROOTED AND NORMAL" was his email. hahaha

IN TRUE NERD FASHION: any devices you'd be willing to part with for one or two of them, I have 10 16gb the day I remember telling mom "MOM LET ME BORROW 2000 dollars I swear it will pay off take it out of my savings anything" haha...
but cash isnt whats important to me, just technology really..idk, hell they're going for ridiculous onebay right now. and err, lets just say mine dont run CM9, or MIUI, hell I have my own recovery, Webos is all i knew for a while. I was always scared to post here, for the number of n00b post haters. I just stopped caring about those haha. I also have 2 Palm pre 2's running Android via a glitch in the Launcher/Wallpaper, and a Pre 3 Running ICS hybrided with basically the apps running in the 'recent windows ' version of ICS....
I really dunno man right now is I NEED TO GET THIS NOTE FIXED ASAP anyone know like a local place to go get it fixed temporarily they've gone to before. hell XDA should buy like shipments of them. we're the only ones that buy the damn things anyway.
also one more idea i found is this: idk if it just doesnt make sense to me, but if someone can make sense of it for me, and tell me its worth a shot...by all means..explain. http://samsunggalaxyreview2.blogspot.com/2011/07/one-click-unbrick-tool-for-samsung.html

It might be worth a go man. I would reccomend having it plugged into a computer and keep trying to turn it on even if the screen doesn't turn on and see if Odin picks anything up. Its not going to hurt your device anymore :/ you could always go to a hardware store and buy a mini USB and a 300k resistor and trying to make a jig yourself if that unbrick doesn't work (which I don't think it will)

Well what do I have to lose? Potentially (with better instructions of course and a noob friendly UI) if it works on my note, ill try it on my original galaxy...who knows few tweaks and maybe all these folks suffering from bricked Notes/SII/SIII's will have an easy way to fix it. (hey guys, just let me be optimistic here.. at least unti somebody else comes up with a bright idea haha

it involves a paperclip, and a hidden compartment behind somewhere where most would never dare stick anything, its rather a hidden reset button or something I wouldnt recommend it to anyone however...if someone finds themself in a bind id gladly help, but its that way or shipping it back if done wrong basically I just got lucky.

Hi guys, this is first time posting in the HTC Incredible S forum as I usually stay on my own X8. However, my dad is pissed off with htc and I offered to help.
Ok so here's what happened. My dad upgraded to the 4.0.X official ROM software. But somehow or another the games first started crashing, then one day he woke up with an error message saying that his applications used up more battery than his charging. Then his whole phone went dead.
So anw he sent it to HTC for repair but it costs $300+ and i'm quite poor so please can anyone help me?
BTW, it's not boot looping. It's totally screwed and can't be turned on.
Here's the weird part (i've never encountered this before). He didn't even root it or modify it in anyway (not even using a different launcher or wallpaper other than stock HTC ones).
So could somebody tell me what's wrong? Cos I'm a sony user and i've no idea what are you guys talking about S-ON thingy and whatever.
And could someone tell me how to fix his phone?
Please?

try taking the battery out and putting it back in. otherwise take out the battery and plug the usb cable in and see if the phone boots up. if it does then either the battery is either screwed or something is wrong with motherboard or something like that. if its completely stock run a RUU that you can get from the development page which will put the phone back to stock. EDIT- here is a ruu http://d-h.st/AYt
$300+ to repair an HTC, what is it made of solid gold? Another thing, why are you paying for your dads fone to be repaired???

Hi,
your answer is here!. Seems to be a hardware short circuit.
maybe putting your open device close to a warm source to dry it will give you 15.031969% to save it...
Else, I fear you need Samsung service..
I don't mean to be rude but why did you open a thread here on XDA about this?
This site is for mobile phone/tablet development.
You have bought a faulty device, it happens.
You need to take it back for a replacement, simple.
I hope you get it sorted! It's never nice buying something and it not working properly.

i believe it got something to do with calibration or something related to software
as phone was flashed earlier and it might be something to do with flashing
i was thinking of writing NV calibration data from another phone to see if that may help, but thought of getting more ideas first.

Oh right, fair enough then. I thought it was brand new and you'd just taken it out of the box.

as good as new, only a few days used, sending it back would be costly
so i thought to get some ideas if it could be calibration data or something, as i have already flashed it but it didn't yield any result..
Hi guys,
After a couple of weeks trying to solve my problem, I couldn't help but submit it to you all. What a shame!
I received an old HTC one m7 by a friend who is so rich he can afford to give away such a smartphone he gave up using it since he has a problem a few months since he bought it. The phone stopped working, so he asked a friend to repair it so he could use it again. Well, the guy who modded the phone (I don't know who he is) said the phone could not be reset, and he should have modded it with a cooked ROM.
And here we are. He flashed a ROM I still can't identify, with an improbable CWM recovery in Thai language. This ROM is jelly bean based, it's widely bugged and speakers don't work. Since my friend couldn't use the phone to make calls anymore, he switched to an iPhone (heart attack!) and abandoned this amazing phone.
Now I have the phone, and I'm going crazy trying to find a solution to bring the phone back to it's old glory. Since I'm a poor owner of Sony devices, I have no idea of how to mod an HTC, and unfortunately many guides on the internet expect that every single person on this planet knows what they're talking about.
Here are my troubles: I don't know how to check if the phone is S-off (and I have no idea of what it means) or what is its CID (what's that?!). I can't flash a twrp recovery, and I can't speak Thai, so I can't use the current recovery. I don't know if the phone is branded. Bootloader is different from the ones whom I find the screenshots on the internet.
Can anyone solve this enigma?
Here are some screenshots.

everyone on here is going to ask you this question, and so am I, we need your fastboot getvar all without the IEMI and serial number, but as you probably don't know how to use that, then do this for now:
hold down the power button and select restart, whilst the phone is shutting down, hold down the volume down button, don't let go until the phone comes back on, should come back on to what is known as the bootloader screen, please take a picture of this and post it.

everyone on here is going to ask you this question, and so am I, we need your fastboot getvar all without the IEMI and serial number, but as you probably don't know how to use that, then do this for now:
hold down the power button and select restart, whilst the phone is shutting down, hold down the volume down button, don't let go until the phone comes back on, should come back on to what is known as the bootloader screen, please take a picture of this and post it.

Also tell us what your phone's original Model ID is. It will be written on the back end, at the lower side.
That way we will get the idea of your query from which region the phone was made to work and on which network.
Because seems like it's firmware was converted.
Here it is! Does anyone know Thai? Or Chinese? Or whatever the hell is this?
Model PN07100
Does it sound legit?
I'm gonna try to obtain the getvar thing by googling some guides.

That's Chinese. And does not look like the HTC One M7 bootloader screen. The ROM also did not look like stock Sense 5 (bits of it did, but that might just be HTC apps installed from the Play Store). Get the fastboot getvar all results, but for now my suspicion is that it might be a very nice looking clone.

Guys I'm amazed! :'D
Well, it's probably a clone. I've just found this on the internet, I've checked the battery and... It's 1600MAh!!
Damn, those Chinese guys take cloning pretty seriously!!
Enigma solved!
I'm wondering if there is any chance either to flash a ROM or to update it, because speakers and Bluetooth don't work.
It's an HDC clone.

Yep sorry to tell you but this is a fake HTC One No software or firmware for HTC One will work with this device.
I wonder if the rich guy bought a clone or the friend who tried to "repair" it swapped it for a clone LOL
