[Q] clock widget non responsive - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

it all started with my galaxy s3. one day i noticed that the clock widget was not responding to any tap. it still worked for the time just fine. but when you clicked it, it did nothing. i started using another alarm app. so i could have a alarm. i have purchased a galaxy s5 now and after transferring all of my data, guess what? the clock is not responding to a tap. it will not pull up the alarm, stopwatch, timer menu. i can go into the actual clock app and it works fine. i have done a factory reset on both phones with no luck. it seems all my friends clock widgets operate properly. is there something i am missing?

Which clock widget?

You can try by giving restore clock widget.

It seems that all clock Widgets will not respond even the factory ones.

Clock/Weather Widget problem

Hey guys, i installed last night the Weather widget and set it up in my homescreen. So this morning when i wake up the phone is dead, pressing menu or holding down power button does nothing. Thank God when i pulled out the battery and put it back again the phone comes alive. So i noticed that if the widget is running, as soon the screen timeout kicks in, the phone dies. Right now i disabled the widget and the phone is working fine.
Anyone else had this problem ?

[Q] Widgets Will Not Update

Is anyone else having this issue? I use Beautiful Widgets to keep the current weather conditions on my phone. I've used it for years (and I've seen this problem from time to time before). The information on the widget just freezes after a day or so (sometimes less). The time is frozen, the weather and temperature are frozen. If I press on the widget, it launches the appropriate app which will display the correctly updated information. When I close the app, the widget is still frozen. I switched to Accuweather (to see if it was just Beautiful Widgets) and it did the same. I tried Google's News and Weather App/Widget. It does the same thing. Is it my phone? Is it a Lollipop bug? Any suggestions/solutions will be appreciated!

I'm having the same issue, and the OTA 5.1 update did nothing to fix it. Did you ever find a solution?
Further, this happens to me even with stock widgets like Google Calendar.
The 5.1 update seems to have helped this problem. I have noticed it once in the past couple weeks since I updated but not nearly as often as before the update.
I have been having this issue for a while now. Found a random thread that someone said to try disabling auto update of apps in the play store app and that did seem to work. But now it is has been happening even with that setting off. I use a Chronus flex widget that has time and weather, the time is fine but weather part of widget does not update. If I try another weather widget I get the same issue, it won't update even when I refresh the screen the widget brings up. The only thing that works is a reboot, and then eventually it stops updating again.
Any ideas on what is really causing this? Right now my Moto X is completely stock because I re-flashed the stock everything trying to get Android Pay to work.

Trouble with 3rd Party Alarm Apps and Custom Alarm Sounds in Marshmallow?

Anyone else encountering issues with custom alarm sounds?
It's already been confirmed by app developers that most (all?) 3rd party alarm apps no longer work because of Marshmallow's doze deep sleep feature (more on that later). However, in moving my alarms over to the stock Marshmallow Clock app (which does work), I can't seem to bring any of my custom alarm sounds over. With previous OS versions, I just copied custom Alarm sounds to the appropriate folder in either internal or external storage (it used to be under \media\audio\) under Alarms, Ringtones, and Notifications folders. Although those folders are still present on the Nexus 6, and do work for 3rd party apps as well as stock apps like Messenger, Calendar, Phone ringtones, etc., they don't work for the stock Clock -- the only alarms that are available are the original stock ones.
So I tried to move my custom Alarm sounds to the system partition and encountered an out of space error, so I deleted some of the stock alarms and replaced them with my own. That works, but won't work for waking up to music because the music files are just too big to go on the system partition.
With regard to the 3rd party alarm clock apps no longer working, I figured out a work-around that seems to be successful so far. What happens is the alarm clock apps can't wake up the phone when Marshmallow is in doze mode (which usually happens overnight). I tried setting the app's notifications as a priority, and I also set the app to not be battery optimized, but it didn't work and the apps' developers have confirmed the same. Anyway, my work-around is to set an alarm in the stock Clock app to go off a minute before the 3rd-party app alarm does. The alarm in the stock Clock app can even be silent. What I'm guessing is happening is that the stock Clock app alarm brings the phone out of doze and it takes longer than a minute to go back into doze, so the 3rd-party alarm will sound.
Anyway, any suggestions for getting the custom alarm folders working again would be appreciated, but it sounds like it might be a genuine bug in the OS.
I have no issues with Alarm plus. It works without fail and doze doesnt effect it.
All the app developers need to do is follow the guide lines
Standard AlarmManager alarms (including setExact() and setWindow()) are deferred to the next maintenance window.
If you need to set alarms that fire while in Doze, use setAndAllowWhileIdle() or setExactAndAllowWhileIdle().
Alarms set with setAlarmClock() continue to fire normally — the system exits Doze shortly before those alarms fire.

Are you referring to Alarm Clock Plus? I can't find any app named Alarm Plus. Reviewers running Marshmallow are claiming that Alarm Clock Plus alarms are no longer working. I'm using Alarm Clock Xtreme, and the alarms are definitely not working unless I use my work-around.

No prob. I live on 3 hours of sleep a night so i need a reliable alarm clock. This one has never failed me.
Unfortunately it turns out that even Alarms Plus Millenium isn't currently working with Marshmallow. The developer replied to my email and said that he's working on an update but that until then you have to have the phone plugged in and charging for the alarms to sound. This is because Google said that the dose mode is not activated when the phone is plugged in or moving.
I still bought the app though and will be switching to using it because he's the first alarm clock developer who actually responded to me with at least some knowledge of how to fix his app to be compatible with Marshmallow. The rest of them all seemed to have no idea and no ETA on an update to fix their apps.

That would make since as I charge my device over night as I sleep. Never occurred to me that if I didn't charge it that way it wouldn't go off.

You're still better off with Alarm Plus Millennium over any of the other alarm clock apps, IMHO. I've contacted four or five of the most popular ones, and their respective devs have no idea how, when, or if they'll be able to fix their app. The Alarm Plus Millennium dev says he's about 3 days out from releasing a new version that will work. So, thanks again for recommending Alarm Plus Millennium. It didn't show up in any of my searches on the Play Store for alarm clock apps, so I would've never found it otherwise.

Yeah he is really good about that. I worked with him to kill a bug about 4 months ago. Was very responsive and willing to help. Glad you found an app that works for you.
FYI, Caynax Alarm Clock (free and pro versions) works in Marshmallow now.

Daylight Saving Time Weather Widger

Last night we switched to DST (East coast US), now the standard Samsung Weather widget shows the wrong time. Phone system time is correctly auto - updated.
Anyone has an idea how to get correct time in weather widget?

I'm having the same problem on both my Note 8 & my S8+. Both are running beta releases of Oreo.
What version of android are you on?
delete widget and then readd it. and or click on the small arrow circle logo to update it. mine is ok now.
My wife's S8 and my Note 8 are doing the same. I assume it's a bug on Samsung's end.....

I tried this before and just tried again and it's still incorrect.
Same here sh***y app design.

Of course I tried all delete-reinstall-update-etc possibilities, no dice..
Guess it will remain this way until Europe switches to DST in two weeks...
I have the same exact problem on my Note 8. It shows the correct updated time though, on the bottom right corner of the widget, but not the big clock. Also when I tried reinserting the widget, it's showing correct clock on the widget preview. But when I apply it, still shows an hour begind.

I tend to agree but on the the other hand, at the core this wouldn't be an issue if the stupid and unnecessary time change would be a thing of the past already. it causes more headaches and issues than it acctualy solves. less than 40% of the countries world wide use DST. it is a testament that it is useless and the world keeps on spinning without it.
its 2018. can we all act like it?
Hahaha I was just having the same issue and this is the first thread I see, gotta love XDA. It's weird because if you clear data/cache the time will be the correct time but if you add your current city it throws it back 1 hour, very odd. Also rebooting the device doesn't help. I said screw it and just started using the 2x3 weather widget instead of the 5x1 weather and clock.

ye ah screw it. Try FU weather
40 hours later and it seems to be fixed. Too many close calls today looking at it and thinking that's the time.
Proper way to fix this is to long press the app widget and go into app info. Force stop. Then Tap storage and clear cache and data. Close everything and do this one more time. Come back and you'll be good to go after you tap the widget to set your city. If you only do this one time it seems to remember something in the cache somewhere.

Pie: Alarm widgets show 5 minutes delayed

Does anyone know why my alarm widgets (ie. either Chronus or HD Widgets or Elixir) show up as 5 minutes delayed? The alarms work well and activate correctly, but they're shown 5 minutes delayed on the widgets (for ex. 12:00noon alarm shows on the widget as 11:55, or 6:00pm alarm shows as 5:55pm). Been since I upgraded to Pie.
I see the same happening on the pie beta 3 on my s8.
It happens using the weather timeline widget and the stock Samsung alarm.
However when I use a different alarm app such as sleep as Android it is displayed correctly.

Ditto... Same thing..
Whoa, thought it was only in mine, as I've searched google and here, and found no one report on it. Is this a Pie issue? Should be in the Samsung forums, if so.
The issue still persists in the official pie rollout on s8 unfortunately. I've no idea how to solve this
Someone post the solution
This is driving me crazy.
Any progress regarding this issue?

I had a similar issue where widgets, and other apps, were not updating or giving notifications correctly.
The problem was with app optimization- I had to un-optimize these apps in order for them to work properly.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) special access > optimize battery usage
You can also search directly for 'Optimize battery usage'
The default display "Apps not optimized" only shows apps that have not been optimized. You will want to change this to "all apps". Then you will be able to de-optimize apps that you want instant notifications or updates from.
If the app you want to use needs data access as well in order to function (weather widgets) then you can go a step further and go to..
Settings > apps > *APP YOU WANT TO MODIFY* > mobile data
Then allow "allow background data usage" and "allow app while data saver is on". The former is more important, but the later insures the app will receive updates no matter what. Hope this helps.
That dosent fix the behavoir.

go to an alternate apk downloading site and get the previous version of the app. Seems to be a recurring issue across several phones when running the newest version of chronus on pie.
Sorry man but when did we start to talk about chronus? Don't know the App even don't have it installed.
