I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about the Nexus One ROMs out there. I've been doing some research and I've discovered a few projects for the Nexus One, here's what I found.
Texasice has Evervolv projects for:
Android 4.0, Android 4.1, and Android 4.2
vijendrahs has Cyanogenmod projects for:
10.0 and 10.1
I don't know too much about each ROM as I'm still deciding (and learning) on which ROM to use since I don't want to keep flashing new ones.
Texasice's projects seem to have a lot of backing but I've read that they have some bugs with core functionality of the phone such as the camera and even videos of the ROM seem a bit laggy.
vijendrahs Cyanogenmod projects seem interesting to me because videos show them to be very smooth with the UI but, I've only discovered these ROMs as of recently and don't know too much about them.
I'm still on stock Gingerbread (2.3.6) on my Nexus One and I'm looking to flash one of these custom ROMs in the near future. I really just need one that's fairly stable and has most if not all core features as I'm not too crazy about specialized features like wifi tethering and such. Just let me know which you think is best and why and I'll be thankful for your insight.
I haven't flashed TexasIce's Roms but I understand there are a lot of shared code from Evervolv (Kernel, etc) which were ported alongwith CM 10 by vijendrahs.
Evervolv takes the stock AOSP flavors of JB and gives users the vanilla JB interface whereas VJ's Roms offer that little extra in customization from the CM end. I had initially flashed CM 10 ( 4.1.2 VJ) which I felt was slightly buggy as I got some FCs and such. I recently flashed CM 10.1 (4.2.1) and I've gotta say, its much smoother than any ROM i've used so far (even GB).
However, the only flaw here w.r.t core working of the phone is the video recording feature. Its choppy and not slick as in a GB ROM. Photos are still good, but Video recording is a big nono. I for one, can live with that as I rarely record videos and it's a small sacrifice to pay for JB to run on my N1
Hope this gives you a fair idea.
vijendrahs 4.2.2 is functioning well too.

Low Internal Storage space on Nexus one
Hi,
I have flashed my Nexus One with new VJ CM10.1 | Jelly Bean 4.2.2 - v5.0 it's working very smooth. Thanks to Vijendrahs.
Only problem is my device is saying Low internal memory even after doing A2sd install. The apps are getting installed in phone memory whereas i have a ext2 partition for apps in sd card. I'm using 8gb class 4 card.
How to set the default memory in use to sd card? I checked all settings didn't find it. Please help.

'a2sd install' should be the first thing you run when you boot the phone after flashing the ROM. Don't go through the initial setup of setting up your Google accounts and wifi. You can do all that later. It would be good if you do this without a SIM card (or while data is turned off). Running 'a2sd install' works but it doesn't really allow you to install many apps. A better solution would be to run 'a2sd xdata'. This will move all your app data to the sd-ext partition you create before flashing the ROM. This however requires you to have a faster memory card (a Sandisk Ultra Class 10 for example).
Hope it helps.

The problem is that your apps are getting synced even when you install a2sd. This is the reason why you run out of space. Turn off your data, install a2sd , then sync apps. You should be good to go

Hi,
Thank you for the response, I followed your instructions and didn't go through initial setup after flashing the ROM and did a2sd install and rebooted phone. Still the Apps data is in internal memory only. And i cannot see my sd card partition of 1 gb in storage space. I'm able to install only around 6-8 apps, it says insufficient memory space after that. What to do now?

Should'nt you be having an ext-4 partition? Try using 4EXT Recovery to format and partition your SD card (create an ext-4 partition)
I would suggest using mounts2sd in reverse mode over a2sd if you're going to be installing more than a few apps anyway.

Hi, Thank you for your responses. I finally started from scratch and used mounts2sd and it worked well for me. Now i have extra 1GB internal memory to store apps data. Vijendrahs new 4.2.2 is working great.

Cool, will try it out. Thanks sphinx.
Fastest rom with no bugs so for is Slim VJ Jelly Bean 4.1.2 v1.0. Trust me, I've tried like thousands of them.

Hi bharath144.
I just installed the VJ CM10.1 - Jelly Bean 4.2.2 - v6.0 ROM on my Nexus One but when I try to execute a2sd script, the result is:
Code:
# a2sd install
found block device: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
I've ignored this and I went on with the execution (with a Y-Y-Y).
At the reboot I tried to execute
Code:
# a2sd xdata
but nothing to do, always the warning
Code:
found block device: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Any ideas to resolve this issue?

Hi,
Same problem with me too.
I was using version5.0 and mounts2sd was working well.
Now that i flashed v6.0 i'm getting this error "The sd-ext device /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 is already in use by another script!".
Does this mean that i have to start all the way from scratch to flash the new rom? like from partitioning internal memory and stuff.
Plz help.
S2E

Try using S2E. That's what i used when I was using using CM10.1.
ICS
If anyone wants a relatively stable and fast ICS rom on their Nexus One, try Spaze Dog CM10.
Is it possible to have a memory swap in our device? I do have a GT-i9305T flashed the latest sentinelROM 5.0 and tried all those memory swap (internal storage to external storage) that I've google but without a luck none of them is working and all I've searched were for s3 devices but still no luck. Anyone here already done this thing since I wanted to install many HD games as 16gb is not enough? Hope someone knew the answer as I badly need this one, been searching for a couple of hours now :-/. TIA
I use an app called "FolderMount" to move the files from an app to the external sd card. You only need root, I didn't use any memory swap mode. Try this app, it works fine on my s3 i9300 4.3 omega rom

great thank you for pointing it out, will note this one as I've already switch back to a stock rom just to try out @mattiadj memory swapping solution and it works great. Anyways thank you for taking your time answering my query as I've appreciated it a lot but still I'm open with any further solution with this problem if anyone knows. Thanks again
Hell all ,
I am new to this wonderful forum and a newbie to Android.
I am using my Xperia ZR with stock rom 4.4.2 , very good device except battery issue.
My question is well known .......is there any Custom ROM available for XZR which support APP to SD feature?
with only 4.5GB of usable internal memory it very difficult to keep this device lag free while installing many apps and games.
At least if there is an option to swap internal memory with external sd card , it would be very helpful
I have rooted my phone , and checked almost every app which claims app to sd , but none of these works.
Any help ?
Thanks.
I don't see any of the custom roms with that option for now. I tried almost everything.
Dear All ,
I have searched XDA , there is some information on Link2SD here and there , but no specific thread about Link2Sd and Lollipop 5.0.2 on Xperia Z/ZR/ZL , so decided to open one.
I have Xperia ZR (C5502) , Stock Lollipop 5.0.2 rooted with Locked Bootloader.
Busybox Installed , SuperSU installed and everything works fine. But unable to use Link2SD , the same issue ..........bootloop after creating a double partion in SD Card (1st ----- exfat 2nd------ext4) then creation of Link2SD script , then reboot , then bootloop.
Also tried initd , univarsal initd , but problem remains.
Before that I have successfully installed and used Link2SD on stock Kitkat 4.4.4 rooted.
So if anyone can give some guidance, I think same will be applied on Z/ZL also
I have same problem, same configuration.
In my case the bootloop apears when a had made the second partition with ext4 (2GB) and I try to reboot. Only without this partition my XZR boots normaly.
Nut is making a dualrecovery with a remount bootfix included. But its not finished right now. Maybe this could be a solution.
Lp has move to SD.....no need for L2SD, plus that app destroys cards
With Move to SD I have only 600 MB spare space on internal memory. Need more, cause I need the apps.
thanks to all
i am waiting for nut dual recovery then
and yes Lollipop has native App2SD , but that does not as complete as Link2SD
Native App2SD can not move an application completely (incl dex file , obb , cache etc) External SD which Link2SD can
Stock Lollipop Have App2SD Feature But I Cant See It In My Phone How Can I Do That
Tried the old remount reboot fix, but it seems not to work on lollipop.
I am now on about 600 MB free space in internal and after a while my XZR warns me of low memory. But need the apps I have installed.
Everything is transfert to sd with app2sd thats integrated, but it is not enough. With Kitkat I dont had this problems, but wont go back.

Thats what I have said..........we need Link2SD for this XZR Lollipop 5.0.2 , its a must have.
Anyone knows NUT latest news about dual recovery and remountrebootfix for Lollipop 5.0.2 ?
Thanks
New version of NUT dual recovery has been released , any chance to get a new version of Remountrebootfix so that we can use Link2SD again on XZR Lollipop 5.0.2
thanks.

In the patchenotes stay something about that. Normally it should work now. Maybe you can try it and post success here
The fix should be integrated in the new version I think.

Thanks , my problem solved
How big is your partition for link2sd?
Mine is actually 2 GB but thinking about making it bigger. Hope it will work.
