Kindle Fire Black Wallpaper quick fix - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok so this isnt a fix actually just got your attention. it is a work around by just an app. not alot know of vire launcher and if you just install vire launcher your wallpaper works instantly. there are also a couple others out there but i forgot their name offhand.

If it's not a fix question it don't belong here.

Well whatever the vire launcher does and another launch or two is what needs to be looked into. Works with then but not good ol apex or adw? So whatever makes it work with them is the fix

@stunts513 does your wallpaper fix work on the Soho?

Last I checked it does, still sometimes has random glitchyness that I cannot pinpoint why. Do you know if xposed framework works with amazon os? I may not know java to be make a plugin but it seems to me an easier fix would be to override the boolean with a xposed module, though I would be a bit jealous if someone did considering the work I put into making that fix work safely.

Not sure if it works on Amazon OS but it does on CM on a Kindle although I don't use it on the Kindle.

Xposed framework does work with kindle 3rd gen KFSOWI. I am not sure what to do with it though lol. I did have a game that closed out once opening and I changed the resolution and set it to force auto rotation and it works now

Last I checked there's not a wallpaper fix for xposed framework. I would create one but I don''t know java. Probably would work better than my current fix but Idk since the idea has never been tested. Though I am playing with a cool idea to safely install 2nd bootloader and twrp on 1st gen HD's in a much more cool and automated method using an apk, might even be easier than fireflash. Depends on if I need to edit some c code or not of something that exists already.

Hulu plus for thunderbolt cm7?

Hulu plus just added official support for the thunderbolt but upon running it I was immediatly hit with a device not supported error
I'm running Cm7 rc 1.2 any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat. Any input would be appreciated.

Ditto
Same as well. Latest CM7 on latest OTA radio.
I can't provide much help here... Running CM7 RC 1.2, latest radio. I'm not having any issue.
Same issue here
I am having the same issue, Hulu plus says the device is not supported. I found a different flash.apk from another forum that said it would get hulu to work, but no dice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
it probably doesnt detect CM7 as being a thunderbolt. sorta like we had to trick the netflix app also. it runs on mine running BAMF sense 3.0 RC5 but force closes. I am thinking some hack will be needed to run netflix and hulu+ both.
Wow what BS! I want to try it out to see if I can just ditch Netflix since they are screwing everyone!!!
Idea: What about modifying the build.prop to make the device name match what it says stock?

I will try it and let you guys know I just don't know what the device name is out of the box. Was it Thunderbolt without the capital B or was it the AD600blahblah lol?
now sure lol
It's ADR6400L I'm going to try now.
Nope still says unsupported device.
Anybody know what had to be done to allow the netflix app to work on CM7?

I know this is hulu. Just seemed like its having the same problems running as netflix did at first. Thought it might be the same kind of device check feature that had to be bypassed.

Yeah hopefully someone can figure it out so we can rock some Hulu!
Its because we are blocking ad and modifying the hosts file.
you need to have adfree installed and hit revert to repair the hosts file.
Working now for me!

"This app is compatible with your device" When browsing Play Store?

On all my other Android devices I can install apps from my laptop via the Play website. Can I not do that on my Fire HD even though it tells me I can, or am I missing something?
I am curious as well if there is a way to tweak the kfhd to download more apps from the playstore...like lie to it that ot is some other ics device

Ummmm. No, as far as I know. I don't see how or why this would work until the KF2 gets a real OS on it. Once it down, I do not see why it shouldn't. For now though, I don't know of any ways it's possible. Back to browsing on the device for you! [EDIT] I was wrong! The app is on my device. It was sitting in front of me for an hour or so when I turned it on to do stuff and found the app I pushed on it there! So it does work in theory, it may be slow for you, or some other issue, but it should work it seems!

Yes, this IS possible. I will look into it and post. It's a file you have to tweak, I did it before on tablets I just am completely blanking out since it's been a year or two. You will probably need something like RomToolbox. That's what I bought ages ago and use on every device I hack, just a personal preference but you will need a "build.prop editor".
Here use this app it will switch you device to make it look like a different device and allows you to download more apps.

Stock launcher KFHD 7"

Sadly mine became corrupted, I use adw constantly, however whenever I need to show my device off to a customer I need to use stock launcher. Anyone have it able to extract the apk for me? For some odd reason mine only shows a blank greyish screen when I try to use it.
Thanks in advance...

Dang did not solve my issue, thanks so much for your effort... maybe it could be the xposed framework, that is only thing I installed since last time I had to get in there and show it off... oh well looks like I am going to go without stock launcher, would rather not lose the resizing capabilities it provides, works wonderfully for resizing only a few apps, and not overall appearance of device.

uh... well (from softpedia)
"Owners of unlocked Google Nexus 4 smartphones out there can now get a taste of a new Linux OS for their devices, as a Fedora 19 installer is now available for download for them.
The software enables them to easily install Fedora 19 for ARM on this Google phone, though it should be noted that this is not an official Fedora Linux project.
As phoronix notes, the installer comes from Rob Clark, who has been working on enriching the Freedreno Gallium3D graphics driver, and who used the Qualcomm A320 graphics in Nexus 4 for that.
The Fedora 19 installer that he wrote in the process is now available for download on GitHub as freedreno/nexus4-fedora, but might not receive support moving forth.
For enthusiasts, however, it might prove an interesting software to take for a spin on a Nexus 4, that’s for sure."
So, if you know Ubuntu touch preview - you know what this is

can't get read-write on device, have root and can mount rootfs as rw in explorer but can' get it in adb shell
This is really interesting. I'm a long term Fedora user, and I've just bought a Nexus 4 with the intent of installing cyanmod on it. But for various reasons I would like to run a full Linux distro.
So my first question is this: Is there a phone app and a sms app available for any Linux distro? The closest thing I could find is gnokii, but it isn't for on the phone its self (at least that is my understanding). Would I have to write the phone app myself?
My second question is: Does it run well? (I mean Fedora on the Nexus 4) Or do need to find that out myself?
Thank you,
Christopher
PS. I've been searching the internet all day to try and answer these questions.
Doesn't chroot/ loop device not work on 4.3?

From what I gather from reading the README on github. This is NOT a ROM (not even close). This is absolutely not something to use instead of cyanogenmod, stock android, etc. And although I don't know positively (have not googled), I would guess no, there is not a phone or sms app for a desktop that is going to work. Not to mention how many other key components needed to make this a working android substitute.
What it is, is a kernel (a Fedora based kernel instead of an Android kernel). And you don't even flash the kernel... you load it and run it temporarily through adb. And then the installer will download and run an x11 display server (instead of the android surface_flinger server), and a Gnome desktop and other parts of Fedora.
It's not something that's ready for use as a phone OS. Far from it. It is just the beginnings of a start (though mad props are in order).
If you've tried the latest Ubuntu touch preview... and seen all of what's NOT ready in that project... then understand that this Fedora project is not even close to that stage of development yet.
Hi,
has anyone tried it recently?
It did not boot for me and got stuck at the "Google" logo.
ADB was working, but without wifi it is useless.

Anyone tried to use the Google enhanced launcher? From N5?

I have a nexus 5, and love the newer KK launcher. I have my tf701 ordered and shipped but not delivered yet. Just wondering if anybody tried using the launcher?

Looks like it works with other tablets and phones too. It adds a Google now screen if you swipe all the way to the left and makes the bottom bar through. I don't it would hurt anything seeing as it is just an APK. Shouldn't need root or anything like that.

I thought it needed KitKat to work?
I think it will work on anything with jelly bean or newer. I'm not a hundred percent sure though. When I get my tablet in I will install it and give it a try.
Here's another thread about it.

I think a lot of it had to do with the Google Play services that were provided now. If you update completely Google now Google Voice, I think the google it. Launcher installed with just one apk.

I'm still on version 0.9.6.886092 because i can't update the google now launcher, probably because the TF701 doesn't has 4.4 yet. But it works fine =)
Edit: I've tried it again and now I'm running the latest version of the Google now launcher.
