Hello,
I'm considering to buy an HTC one , but the reviews on youtube on the battery life are holding me back, but I know there are custom kernels.
Can you guys tell me how good are your batteries and the kernel you use ?
Much appreciation.
It's all use cases.
If I only need to use mine for the phone then it can last days. If I use it with WiFi and a ton of screen time it can last 18 hours. Super heavy use would be less, but I'd have it plugged in anyway. I custom kernel and use macros like a mofo to keep it all in check. It's fine. I can burn through any phone!
I use elementalx, personally. Love it.

HTC One's battery isn't that bad mate, I had an HTC One X before and that phone had a really bad battery, couldn't hold a charge for a day with the tegra 3 chip. I charge my HTC One once a day (before going to bed) and usually there still around 40% battery left for a normal day of usage. It all depend the usage you will do. If you want to play games for hours then yes you'll have to charge the phone more than once a day.
My battery(phone) is 1 year old and I'm using stock dev edition rom/stock kernel with power saver mode when not playing games.
Custom kernel will allow you to save more battery by undervolting/underclocking the cpu. You can also use Tasker to create power saver profile if you need to save more battery.
yea I guess I'll go for the one, because the z1 and lg g2 both have 3000mAH batteries, but I like the design and the overall feel of the htc one.
more opinions are also appreciated

Title says it, my G1 battery is at the end of its life. I tried my cousins battery in my phone and it works fine so I'm sure its the battery.
I was looking at this one
http://www.buy.com/prod/2200mah-li-...s/q/listingid/73345430/loc/111/210924168.html
Is it any good, or are there better options?
Personally I went with a seidio 2600mah. With all the mods, apps, widgets these days. Its always nice to have a little more. But yeah 2600mah. You can go easy a couple days with heavy usage without having to recharge. Just search seidio on google.
Hope this helped a bit

Hi to everyone! I have a g1 and I decided to use it again. I replaced the battery for a new one (I bought it few days ago). When I used after charging it all night it just lasted 3 hours. Then I googled for solutions and I did all what I found (charge it full and reset battery stats and let it drain all, charge it with the phone off, etc) without results. Then I tried one Barry with more capacity (the ones that you need to change the cover) that a friend have and was the same. After more or less three hours, the phone turned off. I had cyanogenmod 7 installed with the latest radio and spl. Today I tried with stock room, unrooted with the same results.
If someone knows a solution, please let me know. Thanks
It may be your ROM, but this is very new to me, even those big ones? Try another ROM:FroyoByLazslo is my favourite and fastest
I'm checking with the stock rom, but I'm going to give a try. Thanks!
Hi,
maybe you overclocked it very much; this can use very much battery. If you want to save energy, you should undervolt it...
Hardy
Hmmm, I don't think is that. I tried with the stock room (1.6) and was the same. And this morning I tried to use the phone, but I had decided last night to turn it off to save battery and was dead! Maybe the phone has something... today I flashed the room froyo by laslo, looks good and is fast! I'm going to underclock it and see what happen. Also I read something about a draining problem when you connect it in the laptop through usb, might it is the cause of all this?
Only with some kernels, if your drain problem is due to software then flash a different kernel

Yeah, may didn't wipe during a ROM change?
PS: You're welcome!
HI, after checking all that you say. I wipe all and after I charged the battery, y wip e the stats and now is working better! With the normal one, I get 6 hours on standby and with normal use, 4..... I tried with 2200mhA and I get 12 hours with medium use, but I with this one the phone is bulky..... BUt well now is my gps!
Thanks!
No prob dude we are here to help the guys who need help, that's why it's a forum XD
TC, you must understand that all G1 batteries are quite old now. They were made betwixt 2008-2010, batteries begin losing their max charge right after they are made in the factories. It's only natural for your battery life to be poor, batteries can be damaged heavily by heat sources, my notebook's battery life became 5 Minutes b/c the wear level was extremely high. I assume your G1's battery is in "bad" condition cell wise. Either calibrate or buy an OEM battery(3rd batteries are tricky). If you calibrate try one of these...

Also if you need battery you should honestly stick with cupcake, donut. Anything past that is already sluggish and pushes the G1, which means the CPU is always at max which leads to shorter battery. And lets not forget the post donut versions have more services and what not.

What's wrong with 3rd party batteries? In my experience I've had two different ones bought off eBay and each worked better than my new OEM battery.
Anyone has any opinion about this? A friend asked me to trade phones (One X for the Optimus 4X) cause he likes more the LG. I also like more he LG but the 1800mAh battery of the One X scares me, although I've read that it performs better than the battery on the LG.
Which phone has a better all around battery usage?
I ve used root freezer and froze many system apps, possibly that helps. With wi-fi constantly on for example today (although no browsing) just notifications from Facebook, I have 60% battery left ~14h on battery.
What makes me say WOW, is that I see 2% battery used on the display (41minutes on) and when I see similar screenshots of the One X the screen is 60% while the standby is at is 20%. Does the screen of the One X consume that much battery??

well, if u are familier with custom kernels, ull understand that they provide more performance ans battery. and also custom roms make a huge difference. for hox users, overnight drain is within 2 percent, amd most of the time 0 percent drain. and usually battery life is arouns 20 hours standby with 3 hours screenon. and that includes over half an hour gaming, calls, texts, and tapatalk. heck, i even tango for half an hour
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
..it's very easy to set up the lg 4x to draw around 7-8% a day on standby/sms couple of e-mail checks/some wifi-streaming use (turn off 3g, etc.). I had nowhere near that on the onex I tried when using the same settings. Basically you need to wipe the rom clean of extraware before you're going to see acceptable level of idle-activity.
Not sure where the entire thing about battery life comes from. Had the 4x last 4 hours of Max Payne. That's.. more than any other phone with the same hardware. By a good margin. As in 1-2 hours longer.. So ..
Honestly would have sold the 4x and gone back to my symbian phone if I had to charge the thing every day.
i dont have One X.. but maybe that one is better in battery life..
because LGO4X's battery drains quickly here
Hello,
I know people have talked again and again about this problem. But I have to ask again because until now I did not found any solution. I have a N7000 and a 7000mah battery (I had in the past a 5000mah battery). My mobile phone looks like a old TV but guess what, the battery holds maximum one day! I have had the problem with all my mobiles in the past (HTC HD2, HTC sensation). I have tried to find the problem by using betterbatterystate with no success. I always turn off bluetooth, GPS and so on. I have installed juice defender ultimate for a long time on my mobile, it makes everything worst. I have really tried too many things, but they all did not help. Is there something that I am missing??? Or is it android?? Is iphone better than that? I am a heavy user but maximum one day with 7000mah?? With the original battery I have to laugh when I look at my battery consumption.
Please give me some new tips. Something that really works. What is wrong with me????
It depends on how you use it....
Most smartphone should have no problem with 48+hrs "standby time"
But in most cases, the only thing that consume the most energy is the display.
I always keep it at the lowest. (only turn on auto while using under sunlight)
I turn off gps, mobile data, wifi. (only turn them on when I need them)
I get around 5 hours (max) with the stock battery. (Screen on time)
But if you are gaming, well you will be lucky if you even get 3 hours.
For games, its depends on how its being code. I have 2D games (Kairosoft games eg. Game Dev Story) which has a greater impact on battery life than a 3D game.
*There are a lot of fake batteries out there, falsely labelling their battery with higher mah. Good battery usually cost $50+.
a 7000mAh should be around $80 (exclude shipping)
Also, a 7000 mAh battery would be three times the size of the original. I honestly believe that the announced 7000 mAh batteries are no where near their announced capacity.
My suggestion would be to buy an original samsung battery. That is what I did and the battery lasts for a day, or for 6-8 hrs with heavy usage.

I dont play any games with the phone. I use it mostly to call or chat or browse. Regarding the fake battery you are may be right. It costs only about 15 $. I have switched back to the original battery but still, it does not look good. I still dont know what is wrong with my n7000

I have checked the healthy of the original battery with some apps and they show all "good healthy". Should I still buy another one? How long is the life time of the original battery?

never trust an app to tell you how your battery are doing.
I would recommend you to buy an original Samsung battery. They have a life span of several years, but should be changed after one year as the capacity deteriorates.

buy a new battery, your battery maybe dying
make sure you get the real thing though.
Do some digging before making any purchase.
Hi everyone.
When I bought this phone, the battery would last all day, sometimes even going for 2 days with a single charge. Using the stock rom, I can only get around 14 hours with very light usage now. Using a custom rom gives me even less. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to beef up the battery life?

It would really help to know what rom you're using, not all of them (personally) have I got great battery life..
Not sure if you're a aosp guy, or like sense.. but if you're using a sense rom, WCX roms have got me the best battery life I've seen on the vivid.. and the vivid isn't too great with battery at all.

I hate to say it this way...
But leave the screen off...
I get between .5 and .7 % drain per hour with the screen off... And up to 30% per hour with the screen on...

Then you have wakelocks.... Use Better Battery Stats to find the offending program... The either delete it... Or greenify it... Or use one of the receiver kill programs (autostarts/system tuner) to kill it

You must be a lucky one, since my HTC Vivid has horrendous battery life, as did my old Samsung Galaxy S1. I've heard the garbage from AT&T, HTC and Samsung where it's just everyone's imagination, the batteries have great life and Never overheat. I have my Vivid for a year and a half and have gone thru 5 batteries, each one lasting less than 5 ones. The Galaxy had the body replaced 3 times and had the same battery issues.
Yes, they are both 4+ inches in screen size and they will not get smaller for smartphones/mini-computers. I don't know which rom it's running, but the kernel is 3.0.16-gf59f9ce 7-25-2012, Android 4.0.3, HTC Sense 3.6. Can someone please give an answer that has some possible real-time solutions? Thanks!

It all depends how my vivid is liking me that day or not, I have days where I ran through 5 battery in a single day..
and Sometimes it gets hot on me, are you on stock rom? did you unlock your bootloader? I recommend a WCX rom if you're using 4.0.3 and like sense.. google wcx illuminati you'll find it.. (WildChild asks not to direct link to his site) and follow his instructions.
If you need more help, PM me, and we can set up a gtalk or something and help you get settled.

The battery on my vivid is the same, i use juice defender but still if i start to use my data plan it will die within an hour and a half, it also heats up if i start to use several apps at a time. I have already replaced the battey once.
