Hello guys,
I have my i9070 S advance running on stock android JB. I want to install LightJB v1.2.
I have some questions running in my mind , please clear them :-
1) There is a thread named - [ GUIDE From stock GB to JB ]. I have finished the STEP A of this guide to get in to JB.
Can I proceed to STEP B in order to flash my LightJB ?
2) After completing STEP B , can I download LightJB v1.2 and transfer it to my SD card & then flash it straight away from TWRP ?
3) Before flashing from TWRP, is it necessary to Wipe Cache, Factory Reset and Wipe Dalvik Cache ?
4) What is LightJB exactly ? Does it improve perfomance ? Is it better than stock JB ? Any bugs or issues ?

If you want stock based JB ROM i suggest you one of those:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342314
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2499534
You need to install CoCore kernel (I suggest CWM, not TWRP) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597
Download, unzip, put on sd card, install Universal kernel flasher and some root explorer (es file explorer for example), install kernel.bin.md5 (from CoCore zip) boot to recovery, install ROM zip, wipe cache, dalvik cache and do factory reset.

Just to make sure that I dont brick my note.
Im currently on costume ics rom. Ive tried several but they are very unstable and I have a feeling its bcuz Im flashing non wipe over other ics roms.
I would like to install a ics costume rom but do full wipe first.
Is it correct that if I flash my kernel to abyss 4.2, then I can do full wipe and install an ics costume rom without messing my note?
Ps: sorry if its been answered before...
1st way :
1. Flash Abyss note 4.2 Kernel
2. reboot into recovery | DO NOT REBOOT SYSTEM
3. Do the 3 Wipes | Data, Cache and Dalvik
4. Install your ics rom... follow the exact instructions.
2nd Way .
1. Use PC ODIN to flash a GB ROM
2. r00t it
3. 3 wipes in the GB CWM
4. Install your ICS ROM following the exact instructions.
Cheers
i am currently on rocket rom v3 lpy

The safest way is to flash abyss then do full wipes.then install.criselko and after that go with speedmod.

oookies...
i mo thing...can i install cm9 the same way?? :?
I am new to andriod
currently my N7000 is on GB, rooted and using GB Rocket Rom V23 for LC1 with Speedmod.
Am thinking of flashing to Rocket Rom ICS V7 or Criskelo's V8 ICS Rom.
How should I go about doing it safely?
Read a few threads that has the similiar steps stated above
1) flash abyss kernel
2) boot into recovery and do full wipes
3) flash criselko
4) flash speedmod (if want to)
Is that enough to flash from a GB Rocket Rom to ICS rocket or Criskelo Rom?
Or do I need to flash to a stock ICS rom 1st? If so, how should I go about doing that?
Appreciate your help. Thank you.
Here I have some doubts too and hope someone can clear the sky for me..
here the questions :
i have galaxy note just upgraded to ics from samsung. now running ics v4.0,3. already rooted. i would love to have criskelo v8 and would like to go over the steps to ensure it wont brick my note :
1. Copy AbyssNotekernel42CW final TouchOriginalLogo to sd card
2. Copy criskelo ics rom v8 to sd card
3. Reboot to recovery
4. Flash Abyss Kernel
5. Reboot to recovery (does it have an option in cwm to just reboot to recovery?)
6. Wipe data / cache / dalvik
7. Flash Criskelo ROM
8. Reboot
9. finish
i need clarification on step 5 as i dont quite understand the statement.
thank you.

yes, there is such an option in cwm. you'll need to go to advance then select the first option - reboot recovery. rest of your steps are right.. :good:
What about from a Rocket GB V23 Rom to a Rocket Rom ICS V7 or Criskelo's V8 ICS Rom?

I would rather suggest you go first flashing a pre rooted GB rom via PC odin and then think about custom ICS roms.
Can anyone tell that whether the Ultimate jb 4.1.2 v5 is safe for n7000 and how to install it ?
It is safe if you follow the ""How to flash:"" in the original thread and a How to Flash Video

1) Flash a safe kernel, if you are not on a safe kernel already
2) Go to CWM recovery & take a nandroid
3) full wipe/factory reset
4) Clear cache/dalvik cache
5) Go to mounts & storage> format /system, /data & /preload
6) flash Ultimate jb 4.1.2 v5 stored in ur internal/external memory..
Hey!
So I have decided I can't wait any more and want to put the JB ROM on my device :victory:.
Currently I have Cocore 4.1 kernel + stock GB ROM.
I want to upgrade to the latest LQ4 from this thread.
What would be the right order to upgrade:
1) Install new kernel for JB (Does it matter if it has CWM or TWRP? Since the LQ4 on this thread is said to only be update-able with CWM, and I actually like TWRP better)
2) Enter recovery --> Full wipe / factory reset
3) Install ROM
Or
1) Enter recovery --> Full wipe / factory reset
2) Install ROM (remember I am currently using CoCore 4.1 for GB with TWRP)
3) Flash new Kernel for JB
If a full wipe / factory reset isn't needed, which wipes are needed?
Thanks again!

1. That thread is just for deodexing your JB ROM. It is not a ROM. There are just deodexed files from system/app and system/framework.
2. Non of above are the way of upgrading from GB to JB.
3. Use this.
4. Do factory reset after.
Thanks again shut_down! :good:

Oh, I thought the official JB ROM is already deodexed, no?
As for the wiping whats the difference between factory reset, cache wipe and dalvik wipe?

Every stock is odexed. You deodex it to get posibilities of using more modified stuff.
Factory reset wipes all your apps, that you installed with Play store (or any other way), and all your data. Making your phone like it was when you bought it. Cache and dalvik chache do not touch any data, but sometimes when you change something it is suggested that you do it (like change some system app or somethig like that).
So you better backup your installed apps with Titanium Backup, backup your phonebook and things like that. Before you do factory reset, that you can restore it on JB later.
Thanks!
By using ODIN to upgrade, does it also wipe my current kernel to the stock one?
Meaning I can later put TZ, CoCore or watever I want the usual DD flash way (after rooting off course)?

Yes, Odin and stock JB firmware will overwrite old 2.3.6. kernel, and install new 3.x.x. And you can install any JB custom kernel with DD later when you root.
Thanks again mate!
Hi, I need some help - I want to flash my Note to Liquid Smooth 2.2 rom, so please tell me if I'm thinking properly.
1) My note have stock 4.1.2 rom XXLSA, so I need to flash letest Philz kernel from stock recovery, with is "PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSA-DBT-3.99-signed"
2) Do full backup, and flash latest CM10.1 kernel ("Kernel_CM10.1_Official_20130403_n7000_N8Mali"), reboot recovery into CM cwm
3) Full wipe - wipe data, cache, dalvik-cache
4) install rom zip and next gapps, reboot
Is everything as it should be? And what is N8Mali in cm10.1 name? There are a lot of kernel, so I don't know if this will be ok for me. Thanks for help, and sory for my stupid questions... but I really like to know if I'm doing everything in good way.
You don't need to flash the cm kernel after you flashed the philz kernel.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I have read somwhere that It is safer to flash from cm kernel, because flashing from philz sometimes goes wrong. But thanks for answer, thats easier without it
So I have another stupid question - If I want to go back to stock android in future, can I just reboot to cm recovery and restore backup of stock rom? Or I have to firstly flash philz kernel to restore?

Restoring backup in CWM (CM version) will be just fine. Thou, you can flash philz kernel first...but it is not necessary.
So first of all you are on XXLSA and want to flash Liquid smooth 2.2 so here are the steps :
1. download philz kernel for xxlsa .tar from here http://www.mediafire.com/file/wxqlp64nu6s7v66/PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSA-DBT-3.99.tar.md5
2. download odin from here and extract it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539
3. open odin and click on PDA and insert the .tar Philz Kernel in
4. Go in to download mode with pressing Home+Volume Down+Power
5. Connect your phone with your Computer now odin should say "Added" and click START
6. after flashing the kernel disconnect your phone and let your phone boot it will take some mins
NOW YOU GOT ROOT AND CWM
7. the next step is that you put the liquid smooth 2.2 file and the gapps file in your phone storage
8. open CWM = volume up+home+power
9. Wipe everything
10. go to install zip from sd card after that from internal storage
11. now go to the liquid smooth file and flash it
12. after the liquid smooth file flash the gapps file
13. now reboot !
YOU ARE DONE !!!
i have one suggestion
