I just upgraded to the HTC one m8, from the Evo4GLTE used to be able to browse the web and use the phone, we all know this, can we create a thread or a petition to revert to the old signal until the VoLTE IS available
You can if you want, Lol. It won't change how the M8 you have handles signal though.
Sent from my Sprint M8 Running the latest Viper
You would need a different phone to make that happen.
I miss that feature more than anything too :/ I won't buy any upgrade phone again unless it has this option... Ill go back to an EvoLTE In that case hahaha

There is no "reverting back to the old signal," this is a hardware limitation. They did starting with the M7 to combat RF fade.

Knowing Sprint we won't get this update for 6 months after it is officially released internationally. Android handset manufacturers need to take a cue from Apple and tell them that they have no say in updates other than makeing sure they are compatible with the radios on a particular device for their network. If Apple can do it so can they, or does apple hold a patent on that.

Yeah because "knowing" sprint is the thing to say when they have been the fastest US carrier to release updates... Damn you sprint for being semi quick about it.

Htc evo lte got 4.1.2 way before the at&t one X. I still don't know if it got it. Sprint has been pretty good with the htc updates.

My point is that the carriers hold up updates period. Doesn't matter which carrier it is. Sprint may be faster than other carriers I won't deny that, but they still delay them for what ever reason. I am not hating on sprint alone, they are all guilty of it. I realize they need to test the software on their particular network but that doesn't always justify the length of delay. But thanks for playing.

Just a heads up I downloaded the android revolution 4.2.2 that was released in the International ONE forum and it has a sprint folder in it with sprint libs, etc so you guys may want to check it out. It also has t-mobile and at&t folder too so i guess he's for one fully compatible zip. Dev is a beast. Also the zip is about 1 GB...all the separate carrier stuff bumped it up a bit.
Try at your own risk.....
EDIT...I checked out his install script and he got the right partition numbers for flashing on the sprint one.
I wouldn't say the carriers "hold" the updates. Lots of testing is needed to insure a good product on their network.

Keep in mind several factors:
A. HTC might not even push their updates to American carriers until they're done with international versions, due to customizations carriers require here.
B. Different modems and signal bands require additional development and testing time.
C. The testing of a device is actually quite lengthy, because the last thing a carrier (and HTC) wants is some incompatibility causing interference with towers or something. This is why the FCC checks these devices btw.
My friend on T-Mobile is getting the update OTA right now as I type this... c'mon Sprint!

I was wondering this because I have somebody that wants to trade there ONE for my Nexus 4. Is there a way to make this the Google edition by flashing a rom? Also can't I just flash T-mobile radio's to get it to work on T-mobile if it doesn't?

There are plenty of threads that go into in depth discussion about this. Search for them. As of now, the answer seems to be no. You can get LTE and 3g but not HSPA+ I believe? I'm not sure of the details...

FML I finally find somebody willing to trade straight across and it's not worth it x.x
If it is worth your while to trade I would look into the possibility of flashing compatible radios, which in many cases is quite feasible. On another note the HTC One is an excellent device which only took minutes for me to transform into a Google Play Edition on not only an AT&T GSM variant, but a Sprint CDMA version as well. These ROMS even allow OTA updates, so as I said before if its worth your while there should be a solution. Please come to me with any issues or concerns you may have, I have been working with the HTC One for some time now and have become quite familiar with the device.

First, sorry if this has been asked to death. I did some searching and checked recommended posts and FAQs but nothing quite covered this...
I came from a Telus (Canada) ROM and flashed Android Revolution. Now, on Telus I'm pretty much always in 4G no matter what, never changes. Occasionally I'll skip up to LTE; at least according to the icons.
Anyway on this new ROM it's skipping all over from 3G to H to H+ to occasionally LTE. I heard rumblings that 4G is usually a buzzword companies use incorrectly due to a loophole, so is that what I am seeing here? Telus using 4G icon for the signal levels of 3G, H and H+?
Ideally I would like to change my icon set back to what it was, if that's not too difficult (I was hoping for something like taking them from the other ROM and pasting them into the new one, but i have a feeling it won't be that easy). If it's a pain, the knowledge of what's going on will help me just deal with it.
Thanks in advance you guys!
If its anything like AT&T this is exactly what happened. Your new ROM is reporting data connection correctly, your stock ROM only showed 4g.
Are you s-off?
And during installation did it ask you to pick a carrier?
What did you select?

I am currently not S-OFF as I haven't had any reason to drop the security yet.
When I installed it, it did ask what version of the HTC One I had; I chose HTC (Canada) from the list.

OK, try flashing an AT&T signal mod. I'm not sure if it will work, but they seem to report the signal the same way. I've seen a few floating around the mods section.

Just in case it doesn't work, in terms of increasing signal capabilities its 3G, H, H+ and then LTE correct?
im gonna be joining your forum in a few days (long awaited) and i was wondering if there was a specific criteria i should match to ensure i get the best buy possible. The best is the international unlocked HTC One single SIM. All Ones can be S-OFF easily, unless you have certain carrier locked Ones
I'd go with one that has a camera sensor newer than December, or try to get one that has the omni sensor, to help avoid the purple tint problems in low light.

Or if your going to be using T-Mobile make sure to buy one from them as it has different band hardware then the ATT, Google Play or International versions.

Sprint One is not compatible with a few roms. Better to avoid CDMA
Thanks for the heads up so sprint is definitely out but couldn't I s off super Cid and then take and AT&T ruu and make it as tho from AT&T or is the hardware different or something?
????
Sprint and ATT are different hardware wise.
If you want an ATT one buy an ATT one or a Google Play edition one.

I have gone back and forth from the one to the note2 twice now and am thinking about a m8 when it's here. As far as radios I know the lte symbol is on my note 2 more but when it comes to performance I really notice little to no difference. I think it all has to do with your local signal. My bud on tmob has HTC one and his is always on lte he pulls like 30 mbps download constantly where as I get lucky to pull 10

Could you try and link it for us? I think the RF performance problem is multiplied greatly for us Sprint customers. Our 3g is very weak and our LTE in most cities is not dense yet. For Verizon and atnt users it may not be that big of a deal.
