Yeah but there isn't any xposed module that can do this so far...and in gravity box is only possible to enable the function that switch off the screen when you double tap the status bar

Why do you care, for what he needs this?
It's possible on some devices. Special kernel for this feature. Dont know if its true, but people was saying, its specially optimized for Snapdragon 800, on other devices there was some battery drain. Maybe something changes untill now.
I hope they're will be some progress about this feature, on our Xperia line phones
[My apologizes for my bad english]
that would be great, to save the HW buttons life
You can use Wake up touch (legacy), it works fine for me but it used to waste about the 20% of my battery charge. It's avaliable in the Google play store.

I know that it can't be done because the chipset of Xperia T doesn't support wake2tap.

It would most likely cause serious battery drain, even if it would actually work.
Our CPU architecture does not have that one battery saving core that is responsible for this feature on other phones.
I doubt that implementing the feature would be impossible, but if a lower battery life is the price, I'm not willing to pay it. ^^

Yes this is true. The newer chipsets have the ability to listen to voice like "okay google" and human interaction like tap to wake or whatever, while the processor is sleeping. Our devices do not have that feature so it will result in no deep sleep at all. This is going to be a significant hit on battery life.
The double tap2wake is related to a kernel and I think the doomlord is working on this feature in his new kernel!!!

I tried porting DT2W to our phone (TX) once. It works...but really buggy. Touchscreen misbehaves after some time. So I no longer maintain this thing... If someone wants to try/help, look at my GitHub : https://github.com/updateing/android_kernel_sony_msm8960/tree/dt2w
The kernel source is for OmniROM, not stock 4.3. Keep that in mind if you try this on stock 4.3, something bad may happen...

I'm using Gravity Screen (can't post link :\ )
- I can swipe over the proximity sensor to wake up the screen.
- If it has not been long since the phone was awake (10 mins by default)
then just picking it up will turn the screen on.
- Keeps the screen on if its senses that it's been held in hands (minor tremors).
- Turns phone off when upside down, as I put it in your pocket.

Thanks so much for this app!
That's exactly what i was looking for!
ProximityScreenOff is similar but has less options and thus uses probably less battery.
I'm using it for about a week now and it works flawlessly. I just have to remember not to use the power button.
Slide2wake across the screen to wake the phone would be even better like I had with my S2 but it required a custom kernel.
It`s strage that nobody hasn`t made port from Tablet Z yet! I mean double tap to wake up. Is this really so hard to do ?

It's not so hard to do but it'll kill our battery.
I noticed great battery life on Sony ROM, stock ROM with no change at all but as soon as I change few things, MOD few apps or apply few MODs (notification bar...) battery life is seriously damaged.
You can only imagine what battery life would we have on custom kernel with lossy optimised "knock" function?!
I'm sure, if there's way and need for this feature - Sony will add it in the first place.
They realised battery life wouldn't be good enough and that's the reason they skip that - they obviously know how to do that

On the hox+ there is a swipe to wake feature if you flash the right kernel...
And with that it is hard to notice any battery drain at all...

With a right kernel I'm sure it won't.
I just said it's probably problem with battery consumption and that's why Sony skipped that.
When you have quead core device with big screen you must pay attention to all apps and details because one by one (app of feature) and you will quickly have device that drains too much power.
I would like to believe that was the reason
But I would surely like to have that, that's awesome feature...

Indeed is my favorite feature on my tablet Z.
I am only speculating but a lot of people don't want to invest time on those ports. Takes time and then you have to support it

It should be kernel supposed so someone should port kernel from different device - even it's Sony and it's from Z series - it's not that easy to do that.
But I can't understand why Sony don't want to include that feature in Z1 firmware/kernel?!
If it's working good on Z tables can't see a reason not to add that to Z1?!
Maybe Sony suprise us with Touch to wake in KitKat...
HTC just announced that they will release Kitkat for One in the next 30 days so maybe Sony really skip 4.3 and release 4.4 right away...

Guys i have this double tap to wake on my unlocked BL XZ! Working pretty great and awesome.. It is kernel related.i can't see any reasons why this can't be ported to Z1.might as well ask Doomlord for this..he is really good at things like these..
really would like this feature on my z1!!
i would love to have this in Z1 too, i love the function on my Tablet Z
Would love this :good:
Is there any way that we can get this feature from the G2 on the Z1? Basically what it does is when your screen is off you knock twice on the screen and it turns on/off.

I believe it requires kernel level changes. Unfortunately due to the camera breaking upon bootloader unlock there hasn't been a whole lot of custom kernel or AOSP ROM development. Once Sony fixes the bootloader issue I would expect more kernels coming out and wouldn't be surprised to see one with this feature.
Can't wait
Edit: the closest I've seen is a mod to allow the camera button to unlock the screen. Is on this forum somewhere, though definitely not as cool as the double screen tap

First we won't get kitkat and in March our 18 months are over and Sony has yet made it to get itself out of having to give us kitkat...
Now 4.3. I don't know I expected more. SP got the gloves mode for example and I don't know whether it is just the Vodafone version why aren't we getting an update center?
The cam looks good but lacks of functionality, for example the tap to focus and make picture is gone and the auto mode being chosen every time I open the app is not really optimal.
The lockscreen is a bit rudimentary but we all knew that before yes we got widgets but honestly what do they offer if I have to watch out not opening Walkman or when swiping left and right. Better optional app buttons and to have them on the lower screen half.
Then the Docomo status bar better than what we had before but definitely many steps behind other uis in that case.
Worst for me is that the buttons for navigation are almost third of the screen... Would it kill Sony to make that customizable?
My main parts I'm not yet updating and waiting for the modders to do their best
My Impression
It snappy ,looks nice ram usages is poor I don't know about battery life yet , sound quality seems to be enhanced :louder ,deeper bass, higher treble all round improvement P.S. for those who don't know first start up will be a tad laggy
Rep
It feels much faster than 4.1.2. I love the lockscreen and the design

Stamina mode and camera
- Stamina mode looks like its 2 versions back. It lacks of customization which is in SP and Z series. Besides the (inaccurate) timer there is nothing new. That mode was previously in 4.1.2 just now it looks better.
- Camera - first impression is that it makes better pictures in low light conditions but I cant find settings in menu for resolution and quality - itll be nice if someone tell me where it is.

I passionately hate the current Xperia lock screen. While I like using other lockscreens, sometimes the default lock screen over-rides it anyway, I think when memory is low. I know I can use a pin, pattern, etc, but I want to be able to look at my phone for a very few short seconds without all the fiddling. Worst Xperia lock screen yet. Even the X10 lock screen was better.

Hello Xda'ns,
If you are not living under a rock since from the last week, you know that Android L has been started to boot up on our Nexus 4. Most of us (Okey at least me) is using it as daily drive. Since this is stock, and not much framework based mods / xposed available i would like to share some must have apps for Android L.
On a first look i missed these following features which i can't live without :
* Volume rocker wake up
* Battery % in status icon
In my view these two are very basic and must have features in daily life. Volume rocker may be not a big deal if you have good power key. But not for me. So i started searching for solutions found few. But none of them satisfies me completely. Any way i am sharing what i found here.
For Battery % in status icon use this application. Works perfectly : Battery percent for KitKat
For Volume rocker wake up : Okey. I can't find anything I found one But it gives wakelock.
Please share your views, findings to get a good user experience like we had in custom ROMs. I am looking for something like a network activity indicator now...
Cant find anything for network indicator

I got the ROM Toolbox by JRummy back when I first got into this stuff and I still use it to this day for the shortcut widget for rebooting.
And it is working just fine on L.
Well there are a few of my favorite apps that aren't working with Android L right now. But some I recommend are:
Gallery KK (stock gallery, I don't use G+)
Greenify
Lars Team's App Ops
Light Flow
The Talon app updated for L is really gorgeous

Replacing power button yourself is super easy. It slides right in and cost less than $10 shipped. I just did mine 2 weeks ago spent $8 and I also have an extra vol button now too

It's a common feature for people to use with gravitybox, but since xposed isn't available yet you would need something standalone to replace it. I love having a speed indicator in my statusbar, and I'd really miss it if I switched for good without xposed. This and a few more features, and I'll be all set to take the dive to daily driver.

Hi
I just moved from LG-G3 to N6, and like it for the most part. There are a couple of things I liked, which I believe I can achieve by rooting my N6
- Notification light
- Knock Code.
The rub is, that my corporate requires me to use AirWatch agent which doesn't work on Rooted devices. Is it possible for me to Root, install the notification light/knock code changes and then unRoot again (and retain these modifications)?
I hope the answer is yes
BTW, my Android version: 6.0.1, Build MMB29K
Probably not. Almost definite not for the light as it requires writing to the kernel's virtual file system to turn the light on or off... But maybe someone can correct me with some other way.
no. once you unroot, your mods won't work anymore. anyways.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/attention-questions-t3228454
Well the tap thing is xposed right? Never tried but I have heard since xposed installs its own framework to run its programs that you can unroot and things may still work. Though I think a lot of things that look for root look for xposed too, so your still likely out of luck.
Thanks a lot for all your help. Next time I will post to the right (Q&A) sub-forum
Sad, that the notification light is in the HW, but not enabled in Nexus
