Greenify, other than that, nothing, just disable all the garbage that effectively kills your deep sleep.

Juicedefender, but can't do miracles :cyclops:

Juice defender is waaaayyyy out of date. Not supported for over a year.
Greenpower is way better solution.
Im using Greenpower + Greenify. I reccomend both.

Captivate should be online 3G all day?

In my location has not WiFi, i intend to turn on 3G all day for my Cap, should i?
Depends on how you plan on using your phone. If you are just texting and making calls you could just use edge. If you plan on surfing 3g consumed a little less battery than hspda
No reason not to. 3G doesn't consume that much battery. Unless your worried about running over your plan, in which case you want to make sure not many things are setup to run on 3G, perhaps only gmail etc.
I would suggest trying it for a day, and seeing how long it lasts.

it's all dependent on how you use your phone. What all do you do on your phone throughout the day? Also what apps do you have syncing throughout the day like fb and gmail?
Also are you running stock or custom rom?
And honestly, its much easier for you to test the phone for a day with 3G on, and see the battery drain yourself. It seems battery use is very subjective based on how you use your phone. Because of this, it could have little effect on the way I use my phone, but drain your battery badly because of the way you use your phone. It's hard to say, and just better to test by yourself.
As jivy26 said, if 3G drains too much, you might want to try just using EDGE instead.
3g is a huge battery drain for me. I can get 2x the battery life if it is off

Thanks all, May be turn 3G off, it's not necessary to my job, just want to sync all data evey time
I use Juice defender to automatically turn off Data and reconnect every 15 min to sync, this doubles my battery life.
wifi uses more power than 3g at standby, 3g doesn't actually really drain power unless you are sending/receiving data so there is nothing to worry about. i saw someone argue in a thread that with the small change in how much power 3g/edge on uses you might as well never touch the power option to deactivate data.

[Q] What is "Base System" and how do I throttle it?

So I've been getting not awesome battery life on my thrill, roughly fifteen hours per charge with light to moderate usage, and have taken steps to increase battery life, such as supercharging aggressive, and installing watchdog lite. I set my threshold to 20% on watchdog, and have gotten countless notifications that "Android System" and "Base System" have been going over my threshold. Android system is of course top on the battery burninating scale. Any way I can fix this?
Tl;dr

You get 15 hrs??? I wish I could get that! Anyway, there is no way to fix that as of now, and it's actually normal to see on the thrill. It's most likely related to a froyo problem that causes it to have a hard time entering deep sleep.
As for battery life, try a bigger battery (they're crazy cheap) and juice defender.

Ugh, well I am sloooowwwllly but surely working on stuff to try and relieve battery woes but, been busy past few days so nothing is really getting anywhere. Also I just don't see the point of hurrying up to release yet another stock based rom. You can only do so much with stock based until finally it is nothing but theming. I may release a barebones stock based rom in hopes to get rid of some battery vampires in the system.
Battery Vampires... I like it, last night I came up with my new band name... Steam Engine Time Train... we're gonna be famous...
If 15 hours is high comparatively, I should just stop *****ing until GB comes out, yeah?
I have an extended battery on its way, and will see what my battery life turns out to be.
Gotta understand though, I have light to medium usage, I'm in school or work 8+ hours a day, and not touching my phone during those hours.
Is that the norm(or better?) for that type of usage?
That's really good. My coworker has a thrill for her company device, and it will almost die in her purse before her shift is over, and she never touches it.

That's your sync and internet usage, Juice Defender did the trick for me. I hit "advanced" and left it at default settings. Sync pings every 15 minutes, juice defender shuts off internet outside of that ping and the screen being on so your phone isn't running rampant in "partial wake" status. Also without Juice Defender all that keeps your phone from sleeping and your "suspend" is probably winding up trying to put it to sleep while all this is going on. Juice Defender will do wonders for all this.
EDIT:

I will get this Juice Defender and post results after tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys!

extend battery life with One Power Guard V2.8?

Have any of you tried One Power Guard V2.8, found here on XDA and Google Play? It looks pretty awesome for extending the battery of a phone.
It needs to run at root level, so it's not for everyone.
Has anyone tried it with the HTC One to see if it helps?
No one has tried One Power Guard V2.8?
I just use Green Power or Juice Defender (depending on how I'm feeling), and actually the power saver that comes with the stock ROM isn't terrible.
I purchased juice defender a few years back and it actually uses more power than it saves, don't believe me, check for yourself, enable juice defender and install better battery stats which you can get on the Play store and leave your phone on standby overnight and the next day the biggest wakelock on better battery stats by far will be juice defender.
These "battery saving apps" are generally a waste of time.

[Q] juice defender alternative

Since juice defender doesn't toggle data on lollipop, are there any alternatives ? All I'm looking for is to toggle WiFi when leaving and coming home and disbaling data when the screen is off.
Llama, tasker?
Flip phone and a tablet

I'm using this app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-toggle-data-5-0-widget-to-toggle-t2937936
With Tasker I then toggle data on and off in a few different scenarios.
Can I ask why you'd want tondo this?

Data drains battery, simple as that. I only turn on data for certain apps and a minute every half-hour. Does wonders for my battery.
You can charge up your phone in 1/2 an hour, why cripple your phone to gain at best 1 hour extra?
Well, I see it as me taking control over what my phone is doing... Everything still functions like it should, but only when I want it to.
And to be honest I haven't tried it on my N6 yet (as it hasn't arrived), but on my old phone it means the difference between my phone lasting all day or only until lunch.
None of that is really needed. Data doesn't drain your battery unless you're your cellular signal is horrible. I leave my phone with lte on and it doesn't drain.
Look into using a custom kernel such as Franco which can give you additional battery life. It's much more significant doing that than to use a app to control your phone.
No point in crippling your phone. It's a phone, use it as a phone.

I think the word drain is used far too often. Battery drain is not synonymous with battery use.

Battery Life

So I've been pretty unimpressed by battery life so far. Barely getting 3.5 hours
Anyone else getting better?

Gonna need more info than that. You talking screen on time? or total? under what settings? full screen brightness?
Yeah screen on time with auto screen brightness. Pretty much on LTE all day. Only disabled bloat apps.
Full day with it, unplugged at 3am and at 8:38pm cst, I am still at 48%. Now I don't use facebook or Tweeter so that helps my battery life. Wifi at work weak and slow so I am on LTE most of the time.

Same here. Only around 4 hrs with regular use. This device needs root.
Easily getting through a day with the phone. Most of the bloat disabled, moderate usage, Bluetooth/NFC/Wi-Fi always on, though mostly on LTE. I certainly don't expect this thing to last like my Note 4, but I'm pleased with the battery life. I get home with time to spare, and plug it in every night like any other phone, so its all good.

Root doesn't mean better battery life. My nexus 5 had about the same battery and got about the same battery life as my s6. And that's rooted, stock, slimrom, and cataclysm. My G3 has about 500 more mAh than the s6 and I get about 5 hours of screen time. Stock battery was better than cyanogen battery.
It's not 2012 anymore. Root is almost obsolete. It's good for app removal, rooted app functionality, and customization. Even if underclocked and undervolted it doesn't change dramatically. If u want a better battery, buy a phone with a bigger battery. MOST people don't look at their phone for 25% of their awake hours (if avg sleep is 8 hrs.) The s6 will give u 3.5-4hrs of screen time on 14-15 hours of use. That is plenty for MOST users

We badly need root. Rooting my phone has always improved the battery life and performance of your phone.
Battery life today was better I think. Screen-on time didn't even show up in the battery usage list, so i'm not sure how much it used. 20.5hrs since unplugging with 14% left.
This will definitely be a phone I'll have to get rid of after a year. With constant charging and a sealed battery, this device really doesn't have a long life. That's my main concern.
Someone in another thread turned off Enhanced LTE (Voice over LTE) under network settings and saw a much better battery life (or lack of drain).
I am experiencing insane WiFi battery drain. I am foregoing the use of WiFi in the mean time. Seems to help.

Same. I tested mine and the drain is far less with WiFi off all together. No WiFi and I can get 6-7+ sot.

I updated mine plus turned off Wi-Fi and the hotspots setting in advanced Wi-Fi and battery life has improved. I still see screen as being one of the lowest factors for battery consumption. Our gs6 must have a very battery efficient display. Android os is now my top battery drain. I'm hoping an update to android 5.1 improves the system battery usage. I know it did on my nexus 6.

if you heavily use it well.. thats pretty normal.. mine can last a day if i don't use it for browsing just sms.. but for calling it would mean smaller life

I was getting horrible battery life like you because of cell standby but I disabled enhanced lte and did a cache delete in recovery and now I'm getting almost 5.5 hours of screen on time with brightness set at 25%-50% on WiFi/lte. If you want I have screenshot.

I can vouch for this myself. I was getting pretty bad drain to the point where I was about to return the phone.
The cache wipe seemed to work wonders. Along with deleting and reinstalling google play services (I searched google play services in chrome, clicked the link and jninstalled reinstalled uodates , then did cache wipe)
