Have any of you tried One Power Guard V2.8, found here on XDA and Google Play? It looks pretty awesome for extending the battery of a phone.
It needs to run at root level, so it's not for everyone.
Has anyone tried it with the HTC One to see if it helps?
No one has tried One Power Guard V2.8?
I just use Green Power or Juice Defender (depending on how I'm feeling), and actually the power saver that comes with the stock ROM isn't terrible.
I purchased juice defender a few years back and it actually uses more power than it saves, don't believe me, check for yourself, enable juice defender and install better battery stats which you can get on the Play store and leave your phone on standby overnight and the next day the biggest wakelock on better battery stats by far will be juice defender.
These "battery saving apps" are generally a waste of time.

Does juice defender really work to save you battery life? I got my normal battery backup on and was wondering if it was worth the download. How much of a difference do you really see?
It hasn't seemed to help at all for me, in fact I think it sucked more juice than it saved. I found that using SetCPU with Adrynalyne's kernel saves a lot by setting a profile the throttles the CPU to 245mhz max when screen is off.
I had the same experience on my OG Droid, installed and saw better battery life.
Thrown by Zeus himself
It most definitely makes a HUGE difference in my battery life.
A lot of the reason you see one person say no it doesnt and some saying yes is because there are so many settings to change it can vary greatly from one person to the next.
I prefer green power from the market... Data comes on faster with screen on/unlock and uses a much simpler approach to turning off mobile data and has more customization out of the box for free vs juice defender

How bad is the battery life? How about the camera?
You cant remove the extra "add screen" feature.
Battery life is decent.
Goto your apps and look for SmartActions and enable Battery extender. It helps a whole lot.
Juice Defender works very well on this phone.

Battery is acceptable. It gets through the day using it pretty heavy. SmartActions Battery Extender works well. Combine with Juice defender and I can last a day and a half with no charge.
Camera is a little weak. It's about the same as the Atrix 2.
The screen makes the pictures look great, then they look washed on the PC.

How is your device set up to save battery life? Since the battery isn't the greatest in the Atrix HD I'd like to know what other people are doing to save battery using Smart Actions. Even though I'm planning on putting the EB40 battery into my Atrix I'd still like to save as much battery life as possible as I do a lot of heavy usage.

on the home screen, I have the ICS widget where you can disable wifi/bluetooth/gps/sync/screen
I do it manually but with the MAXX battery, the screen is now at it's highest setting.
by the way, I had a 3GS before and the battery wasn't better/worst than on the AHD

How is your battery life going with the EB40 battery? Would you say using Smart Actions diminishes the battery life? I'd think it'd cause a lot of wakelocks especially with screen off profiles.

to be fair, I would say that using the EB40 battery, I don't even think about it. I goes 3 days without recharge with my light-to-medium usage.
so super-optimizing the power consumption is a non-issue.
I enabled some smart actions to extend battery life. Under heavy usage phone is dead in 4 hours. Light usage can get me thru the day.

I've got an interesting setup going that worked really well on ICS. A reverse battery extender profile that activated on screen off that changes timeout to 15 seconds and disables GPS and background sync and a light and dark profile that adjusts the brightness according to the time of day and raises the timeout to 10 minutes so I'm not worried about the screen shutting off when I'm doing something on the phone. The new background sync thing with jellybean only enables syncing when you're using an app that requires it. Saved me loads of battery life in the long run allowing me to use my phone heavily all day without worrying about it dying on me. I'm hardly ever home so going a full day without a charge is a must for me.

Greenify, other than that, nothing, just disable all the garbage that effectively kills your deep sleep.
Juicedefender, but can't do miracles :cyclops:
Juice defender is waaaayyyy out of date. Not supported for over a year.
Greenpower is way better solution.
Im using Greenpower + Greenify. I reccomend both.
Since juice defender doesn't toggle data on lollipop, are there any alternatives ? All I'm looking for is to toggle WiFi when leaving and coming home and disbaling data when the screen is off.
Llama, tasker?
Flip phone and a tablet

I'm using this app:

With Tasker I then toggle data on and off in a few different scenarios.
Can I ask why you'd want tondo this?

Data drains battery, simple as that. I only turn on data for certain apps and a minute every half-hour. Does wonders for my battery.
You can charge up your phone in 1/2 an hour, why cripple your phone to gain at best 1 hour extra?
Well, I see it as me taking control over what my phone is doing... Everything still functions like it should, but only when I want it to.
And to be honest I haven't tried it on my N6 yet (as it hasn't arrived), but on my old phone it means the difference between my phone lasting all day or only until lunch.
None of that is really needed. Data doesn't drain your battery unless you're your cellular signal is horrible. I leave my phone with lte on and it doesn't drain.
Look into using a custom kernel such as Franco which can give you additional battery life. It's much more significant doing that than to use a app to control your phone.
No point in crippling your phone. It's a phone, use it as a phone.

I think the word drain is used far too often. Battery drain is not synonymous with battery use.
