So I picked up a Gear about a week ago to pair with my HTC One. I thought if I couldn't get it to work I could give it to my wife to use with her S4 or I would pick up a Samsung phone. I would like to say I am very new with flashing roms or doing anything of the sort. So I started with doing a lot of searching on this site and reading up with how to flash the rom on the Gear to something that I could pair with the HTC One. I installed TWRP and got that working correctly when I boot the Gear into Recovery mode. What took awhile was getting the Null_23 Rom onto the Gear where I could install it. After trying to do it with ABD (and failing) I found a video that used Wonder Share. I went with this system. I paired the device with my wife's Samsung so I could enable Debugging mode, was able to pair the Gear with WonderShare and push the Null 23 Rom to it.
Went into recover, did a full wipe, then installed the Null 23 rom, rebooted unit, it ask if I want to use Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher, and a 3rd option that I can not remember at the moment. But The Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher icons are in the programs menu, I can use them at any time and change the layout of the home screen.
So after installing this Rom I am able to pair the Gear with my HTC One. Now on the Gear, I can answer a phone call, the caller ID works, I can sent the call to my phone to answer but I can not dial out to make a call from the Gear,Contact do not show up, Notifications do not work for text messaging, The seconds on the clock are correct but it will not link up in the correct time zone for the hours. Calender does not work. I can connect the Gear to the internet with pdaNET and the web browser will work. The Google Play Store ask me to log into or make a new account, but when I try to do either it stops working.
I have starting working on the notifications first, but haven't been able to get them to work correctly.

For notifications you should go with ATN Notifier, there are many threads on this issue.
For dialing out, it worked for me after syncing my Google contacts. Have you logged into your Google account? That should help, I guess. Same with Calendar sync, but this will use Internet access to be up to date and therefore drains your battery pretty quick.
I would also recommend to install Gear Manager (1.6XX) to use gear apps like runtastic, turn by turn navigation and so on. Check out Brendans Folder!

So not to derail the watch gear faces thread, I brought up a problem in there were I wasn't able to get some of the watchfaces to appear correctly, Missing day of week, ect... and it was suggested to me to rather not apply them with Watchstyler but to just do within Gear Manager. Well at this point, this is were I figured out Gear manager wasn't wanting to change the selected watch face so I proceeded to try to disconnect and re-connect in gear manager and had all sorts of problems. I managed to finally get reconnected to Gear manager but it wouldn't complete the "Restore from backup" so I ended up partially wiping my Gear somehow in the process of reconnecting. I'm able to get Gmail, Handcent, ect.. alerts in the "Extra Notifications" selections but I have stopped getting regular email alerts now for some reason.
Also, the watchstyler problem persists were I download a given watch theme per that thread and go through the exact instructions of creating a theme then deleting it's dir contents and copying over the newly unzipped one and am able to get most functions as replicated in the given theme but missing parts like digital stuff, day of week, ect...
Help! :silly:
PS: I'm running Null Rom 21 w/ Apex launcher.
Update: Ok, I resolved my Watch theme problem by updating the Watch Styler program on my phone through Gear Manager - Samsung Apps. Didn't realize I had downloaded an old version along the line externally somewhere.
My lack of getting email alerts to the Gear still persists however.
Running 4.4.2 on a rooted LGG2. After reading on the forums, I have my (completely stock) GG connecting to my G2 and it seems to work, BUT I don't get any notifications, music player doesn't work... facebook app doesn't seem to work and I get an error saying
"Samsung apps not installed"
My path so far has been to install an older version of watchmanager 1.6.132701, along with the apps.
The watch connected after that.
I then installed the updated watch manager 1.7.031004
My watch then updated itself, and rebooted twice.
I have since installed several apps (ebay and facebook) from the forum, but they don't seem to communicate with the watch properly.
So my next step is installing a custom ROM on the watch?
Will bluetooth conversations on the watch ever work?
If I could get ebay, mail, and text notifications working I'd probably be satisfied.

null rom is about the only one available atm

check the themes and apps section for notification options
check other device threads in gear forum to see how they achieved best setup

I always used to be able to read any short gmail message in my gear 1. Now it just says Gmail but nothing else...no body nor even who it is from. I still get complete messages from samsung note 3 stock email app. Outlook app also only notifies how many messages I have. Does anybody know why I don't get complete gmail messages in gear 1 any more? I am on latest version of gear manager.

In the latest versions of Gear Manager, Samsung disabled the option to view full notifications for several apps (the apps you have installed onto your phone, not the ones already implemented onto the Gear itself).

Only "problem" is that it keeps nagging, after you are back to old version, to update Gear Manager.
Just ignore those nagging messages untill a newer version is out which enables full notifications again.
It wouldn't work. Perhaps because I'm not rooted? I uninstalled everything. I believe it was 5 different apps. I shut off watch. Shut off bt and data. Installation went fine. It showed my watch as paired but would not allow me to change any settings until it scanned for device....so I let it scan but watch off so it found nothing but finally shut itself off. Next I turned on watch and scanned several times (scanning from gm automatically turns on bt). It could never connect to watch. Watch on, bt on but it just could.not find watch even though it was already listed as paired. I tried resetting watch and restarting phone but nothing helped. Finally I turned on data and I could not cancel the forced update.
Are you on Tizen or Null ?
Watch doesn't has to be rooted, I performed same procedure both on my rooted S5 as well as on my non-rooted S4.
Both have older version now with full notifications.
I'm on Null and not Tizen

Maybe I'm going mad but I'm sure when I first used my Urbane there was a Google Maps app. However now Maps isn't in the app list. The only way I can get it up is to trigger a set of directions thorough "OK Google" . Does anyone have maps show in the list? (I.e next to Weather, Alarm, Settings, Google, Play Music etc)

Same here, but here's how I fixed it.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Google Maps. Then I resynced apps on my Android Wear app. I appeared as an option a min later!
I had to do the same thing with Google Music

I'm also missing other apps (I think) does Whatsapp, Ubur or Shasam have apps for wear? Hard to tell if I missing them or they just don't have a way to launch on the watch....
You need the latest version of maps and android wear. I removed the watch from android wear, reset the watch, paired them again, it worked. Also got an update that up to now it had been saying did not exist and a few other oddities fixed. I'm not sure why I didn't do this before, I suppose because I'm used to it being a bit of a chore to reset a rom on the phone and I need to recalibrate my thinking for the watch/android wear. It only takes a minute to get the reset going, check back in about 15 minutes to pair with phone, check back in after a while and its done. Knowing what I know now I'll likely do this every so often just to see what new apps will be pushed to the watch and if it will pick up an update.
Hi all, I have my Watch 3 the very first day. Do you use SmartThings application? It does not work on my device (it did on my previous Gear S3 Classic). It claims it cannot read data. Does anyone use this app? Or is there any better remote TV application? Can't find any at Galaxy Store.

Every time I try to use smartthings it tells me that I need to log into smartthings with Bixby. When I go on my phone it pulls up the Bixby modules and when I tap on smartthings it tells me all the wonderful things I can do but none of those things work with no where to sign in. On Samsung's website it says that if you are using the Samsung account (aka have migrated from the smartthings account) then it should automatically work, but it doesnt. Seems like a bug to me but it doesn't make sense as it seems like all the hooks are there for it to work.
Have to wait.
If someone did not know, the appropriate version of the application has not yet been prepared for Tizen 5.
After updating to version 1.5.18, the Smartthings application works fine.
