I have both the XT1053 and XT1058, both running 100% stock, neither can update CloudPrint from the Playstore due to: "Package file was not signed correctly."
Do anyone have this issue. Is it an issue caused by Google side or is it a problem with the Moto X specifically?
Keep trying - I saw that message when trying to setup my girlfriend's X but got it installed in the end. Works fine on both our Xs. I think switching from WiFi to mobile data resolved it for me (or a reboot - all a bit of a blur tbh).
I'm having this problem as well. Can't uninstall without root, so I gave up. I'd also like yo know if there is a way to update.

It's a known issue on Moto X and Moto G, it will be solved with the next OTA update (as stated in the official Motorola support forum)
I too have been having this issue. Kind of annoying.
Also, does anyone know how to setup Cloud Print through your home network? My printer is actually a separate device on my network.

If you're talking about printing to the printer via Cloud Print without the need for a PC on the same network as the printer, the printer must support Cloud Print directly. I have three printers connected to my network as standalone network devices, but only one supports Cloud Print. Network connectivity by itself is not enough.

No, I mean that I can't update the print services app. I kind of figured that I couldn't print if the printer wasn't compatible.

If you have chrome, you can publish any printer configured on your computer as a cloud printer using your Google credentials. I have a USB printer, pdf printer, and about 3 other printer definitions available for cloud print.
Speciality printers are not required, just chrome, Google account, and a running computer.

He said he can't update the app on his phone....
I had the same problem last night. Only way that I got mine to work was by uninstalling the old version with titanium backup, restarting, then reinstalling it on the play store. My wife's Moto X on 4.4 didn't have this problem, I'm on 4.4.2. So maybe it's a 4.4.2 problem?

So, I figured that I would post a confirmation that states that while using my NC and PrinterShare from the market I can print documents over my WiFi connection at home!
I was not sure if this would work, and it took the NC a bit to see the WiFi printer, but it works. I am going to purchase the full version now that I know that it works.
This NC gets cooler and cooler, day after day!
I am wondering if something can develop a way to auto-print documents that have been waiting in a queue. For example if I am at work, select 4 documents that need printing, and then the NC would send them to the printer once I connect to my home WiFi?
There is a hack that can send documents from any device to any online printer.
It's not too complicated - as long as both are linked to the same Dropbox account. You would just need to install a script in your Dropbox, then any documents you want to print would be uploaded to that folder.
I don't have the link (sorry) but I'll look for it... I'll post it when I find it .-)
Ok - found it... I think it might be windows only.
(These are just links that I've found... All credit goes to the original author)
First, you need a dropbox account. You would need to have it linked to your Nook and your computer with a printer.
If you don't already have one, feel free to use my link: http://db.tt/1lAXHf7
(There's all sorts of other things you can do with Dropbox, but this is one of the better ones for the Nook... as far as I can tell)
Here's the link to show you how to install the script:
http://www.labnol.org/internet/print-from-mobile-phones/17827/
I attached the zip file with the script, hope it helps!
This works (dropbox option). Just printed a document. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, the application works for me, I opted for the wrz version.
The dropbox version works for mac and linux too, you just need the script. I can not find the link now but I Googled dropbox printing and found a page that links to the mac and linux scripts. I tried the linux one.
thanks for the dropbox method it worked.
u can find the mac script here http://www.labnol.org/tech/print-files-on-remote-mac/17838/. and the linux script here http://www.labnol.org/software/print-files-on-linux/17841/

I was wondering if you or anyone could help me troubleshoot my setup. I have a brother mfc-j270w that is listed as a supported device on the printershare home page. I also have a rooted nc with no overclock and only modified location service files. It will see the printer and even show that the printing has been spooled and completed. The printer shows receiving the job, feeds the paper, but prints nothing.
I would assume that the printer firmware isn't compatible with the printershare drivers, but I've ran the same test from my Droid 2 and it works like a charm.
Any ideas?

Ok, so I think I've figured it out. It had to have been an IP address conflict. I set the printer to a static IP address and it seems to be working fine now. Also, the setup I'm striving for involves networking through wireless tether on my Droid 2. I have to make sure that I connect the nc immediately after starting the wireless tether app so that su is still active. For some reason, the su permissions seem to time out after a bit, but it never causes any interruption in wifi service. I can also get it to refresh the su permission and allow the nc to connect just by turning the screen back on. Is this normal?

The fact that the su privilege seems to come back when the screen is turned back on makes me think it may have something to do with the Superuser app being cached/inactive by Android (after some inactivity)?
You could check the Superuser Log and see if it shows another "allowed" entry after waking the screen?
Just throwing out ideas.

I would have to re-install the program. Everytime I open Tor Browser, and use IP Addres Locator it tels me the IP addres is in Iran, I haven't been lucky enough to have an IP addres from the US when I start up.
Did you have any instructions on how to use Tor in order to manage a US IP Address?

If you've got this far, you'll be fine now. The only time Google checks your location (as far as Music is concerned) is during sign-up and when you try and purchase music. For browsing and playing from your library online, and for playing your library on your device, there are no location checks.

I'm in Canada as well.
Months ago, I used a simple Chrome extension called "Stealthy" to spoof my IP. Basically, a click or two and I was done. And, as someone else mentioned, after you've signed up there's no more ip checks so I have that extension disabled.
Of course, you won't get the "My Music" tab if you visit Play from your PC. But, no problems if you go to the music url directly.
Hi, my Google Music Manager has stopped working over the last few days, the program won't open or get past a screen that says it cannot get an internet connection. I wondered if any other UK users had the same issue ?. I've tried disabling anything on my setup that might be blocking it, and haven't changed anything before this happened. It's frustrating because I was loving using it on my Nexus 7. Any advice would be appreciated as I'm baffled. Thanks.
Same problem here my Google Music Manger wouldn't connect to internet...
Any Solution.......
I'm still stuck, I've been talking to an english technology journalist who says he is still uploading okay, have spent many late nights this week on this, but totally baffled. It can't be a widespread problem else the forums would be full of chatter about this.
I've gotten round this by installing Ubuntu alongside my Windows XP installation and installing the Linux version of Google Music Manager - and it works !. If you look in the log file for Windows Google Music Manager mine is moaning about Root Ca Certificates and being unable to find an iTunes folder (well it's wasting it's time looking for that one). At least my Nexus 7 is slowly filling with music now.
Same problem with me too. It just says to check internet connection. :|
Then I tried it in Ubuntu but no luck there too.

You can't purchase music outside of the US. The steps required to use Play Music only give you the cloud service. You'll have to buy your music elsewhere for now.

You need a valid US address (hint: find one on a real estate site ). Then you must set this as your default address and billing address (with your normal credit card).. Then you can buy music. I've bought a few albums much cheaper than Aussie music sites. Oh, you also need to be on a US VPN to actually purchase music too.
Google have now fixed this. Just uninstall the program from your pc and redownload it from Google Music, the new version is working perfectly for me.
Hi,
I have created a small html5 app that allows playing of local media on Google Chrome with playlist support. The Chrome tab can then be cast to Chromecast. This helps me play the huge collection of YouTube videos I have in my computer, on Chromecast. Just thought I'll put it on here for anybody that might find it useful.
Steps to use:
1. Open Google Chrome and go to sidscast . com
2. Browse for folder or files (Audio/Video) to add to playlist.
3. Play
4. Cast tab to Chromecast
Audio/Video Formats suppported: MP4, MP3, Wav, WebM and Ogg
Playlist support: Yes
Thanks!
Sid
Sounds promising! I'll try it when have a chance.

Thanks so much for this, works really great for streaming my local MP3 files.
Question, would it be possible in a future update to support:
1) displaying embedded album art from the streaming song
-or-
2) specifying a directory of images that can be cast to display while the mp3 is streaming.
Would be great if it can cast photos.
Amazing, the first thing I tried worked. But I'm curious why this can't be run locally, couldn't you make a browser app? They have them, but none work. Not even Videostream (They say it's my network when I have no AV, no firewall, the ports forwarded in my router, and friends who can't get it to work more often than whenever the hell it wants).
You don't mention anywhere, so I'm curious just what info gets passed back and forth between me and your server while I'm using this.

Hey man, Videostream guy here. Is it just never playing the video?
The difference is how this uses the Cast Extensions tab casting method (WebRTC) instead. All you need to do, to do the same thing without this app, is drag and drop the video in to Chrome.
Our app needs TCP port access to your computer, in order to send the raw video data to your Chromecast.
Now, there's no reason why you should have been left hanging like this. If you like you can forward me your emails and I can look into why our support f'd up so hard. This is an easy fix. I can also do a remote desktop with you whenever you like and we can get this solved, asap.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I've been getting replies, for sure (The replies come from freshdesk, signed Rahul Kayaith), but pretty much been given the idea that it's my problem, when I can reset literally every device on my network and it still not work (I even went so far as to open the ports in my router since he made it seem like the traffic needs to pass between their servers and my computer). I'm using literally no antivirus or firewall, just Windows Defender, I've added Chrome as an exception to Defender's scans, and my network is private/home. The app hasn't worked for me at all for a couple weeks now, when previously it worked intermittently. The port fix tool has never worked, not once since I got the Chromecast. (Before it quit working altogether, it would work seemingly whenever it felt like it. Nothing that I did on purpose seemed to work)
My friend has 3 Chromecasts, uses antivirus and spyware software, a different router/modem, and a different computer. The only thing we have in common is Windows 8.1, Chrome, the Videostream app. He says it also works only intermittently. I just don't see that the problem is on either his network or mine!
I did figure out that I could "save" the SidsCast page locally and run it and it works, so I don't need to worry about what's being sent to his server, and it's working with most types of video, but not all, so I have to be careful what I "acquire," but still more reliable than Videostream has been!

Yeah those are the generic fixes we give to people, Rahul is our local support guy we have working with us as an intern . Your router really shouldn't have anything to do with this.
What you could do is check (Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall\Customize Settings) , or in your "Windows Firewall" settings go to "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" on the left, and make sure "block all incoming connections" is NOT checked on Public or Private.

My firewall is set to "off." I never use it, nor any third party firewall or AV. I've run through all of this with Rahul, at least since some time in March. And opening the ports in my router was just, let's say, a last-ditch effort to figure out the problem, since nothing else has worked.

Oh joy! I didn't think people were using it and finding it useful! Well, although I know this is a very late reply, but I'll answer anyway. There is no server. It's all client side. The only thing that it needs a connection to the internet for, is the ads at the side. So you can very well just have it work without an internet connection after the initial load. There's no data collection or anything of that sort.
I posted in the ROM thread, but maybe I will get more visibility here, I have 2 CCs and neither will load any apps when my DNS is set to use Unlocator. I've tried the usual tricks and nothing is working. It all worked fine before this latest build

Can you be more specific? Are you using the static route method to block Google DNS, or are you redirecting Google DNS with iptables commands? Which apps specifically are having problems? What firmware version is your Chromecast on?

Sorry, realized I was less specific here. I'm running the latest build of Eureka. I've verified they are up to date, even manually reflashed. I have the DNS set to Unlocator using the Web UI that is included with the rom, and that has always worked just fine before. It mainly affects my android devices. I can usually get things to cast from my laptop. I've verified that both the casting device/chromecast are connected using the same DNS servers. I've flushed the data/cache for the chromecast app as well as google play services, reinstalled affected apps. I don't really know where else to go.

Sorry, realized I was less specific here. I'm running the latest build of Eureka. I've verified they are up to date, even manually reflashed. Both Netflix and Google have been pusing out rapid updates over the last few weeks that seem to be designed to prevent the use of an alternative DNS to bypass region restrictions. I've managed to get it running again a couple of times with last resort measures, but I'm at the point of giving up, at least until things stabilize.
Yea, if nobody figures this out I may have to look into alternate devices.

Hi Saschwatch,
I'm looking into this, just wanted to let you know - I'm experiencing the same issues now.
I can't put my finger on what the defining cause is as of yet, it's not the new OTA (I experienced the issue with a chromecast on an old OTA), I've got friends/family using them fine too.
Could be unlocator, could be a play services update or something odd that has broken it :|
Can anyone else comment on what they're seeing?
Kind regards,
Kyonz

One theory here (I don't use unlocator so it's a pure guess)
Is it all apps or just some apps?
Is it possible that Google has made all Client servers deny traffic from Unlocator addresses? Then it really wouldn't matter what version of CCast you had any request to send a receiver app would be ignored by the server that would send it.
They could use IPSec to ban their IP traffic.
Another idea is this seemed to start right around the time of the Raid in Sweden, Perhaps some of unlocator hardware was seized in error as well?
I know that it's something with android or the way cc handles android requests. My laptop casts fine DNS switched or not. The second I change DNS on my phone/tablet they act all funky. Android "sees" both my cc but the app never makes it to the TV screen after hitting cast. DNS set to normal and all loads fine.

Any updates on this?

I'm not sure if Google is doing this, but Netflix started to region block users using VPN by getting ther geolocation or GMT differences.

Google seems to be up to something. All of my apps cast from my phone fine when no DNS/VPN service is used. Turn anything on and the Chromecast won't open any of the apps it worked perfect with before.

Already fixed your problem?
I don't have an unlocator account. But dnsflix.com works for me. (it's my own little project)
I am able to switch from Dutch, to American netflix.
Don't forget to also change the dns serverd on your phone.. I use override dns for Android. It's for rooted phones only. If you still have problems, downgrade android netflix app. The .apk is also on my website. If you have apple, sorry I don't know anything about apple ;p

I posted in the ROM thread, but maybe I will get more visibility here, I have 2 CCs and neither will load any apps when my DNS is set to use Unlocator. I've tried the usual tricks and nothing is working. It all worked fine before this latest build

Hey All,
Sorry I lost track of this thread, it appears to be an issue specific to Unlocator.
When unlocator is in use there is an SSL handshaking error that appears when you communicate to the chromecast - I've switched over to overplay for the moment and it is running fine. I've got a ticket open with Overplay and am working with one of their developers on this.
Will update once I have more information - but for the moment try another provider
Kind regards,
Kyonz
Any new update on this ?
** UPDATE **
To be more specific, I'm not having issue with Android Device Manager, I'm having issue with the message "You don't have any devices" in Google Play Store.
I've looked it up in lots of places but seems like no one has a concrete answer.
Any further direction would be appreciated!

Hello,
I've installed all of the required apps to run Google Play store and have installed apps without issue. I'm having a couple of issues:
1) When I tap on Google Account Settings, it doesn't load anything, just closes the app
2) When I log in to Google Play on my browser, it says that I have no devices connected to the account, even thought I'm downloading apps just fine with that very same account in Google Play app. I'd like to remotely add and delete apps from my tablets as they are for the kids and I don't always have the tablets by my side to install / delete things.
Please help, thanks!

It's been like this since I got everything set up 3 weeks ago. It's never recognized that the tablet is associated to the account.

Another poster (perhaps a few) described a similar situation along with the steps taken to remediate. If I stumble across that I will repost here. As I recall it involved deleting and readding Google account(s) on the device side (reboot between) plus a tweak or two from the web version of Android Device Manager.

Problem appears to be widespread with no generic solution. See (one of many similar posts):

Might be something you just have to live with.

While there are quite a few you might want to start with AirDroid. Generally well regarded albeit sometimes a bit schizophrenic. You should be able to accomplish basic app/device management with the free version. Can also look at some of the more focused tools once you decide which features are most important.

Yes - did you look at AirDroid? Claims to have that capability. Also note there are various workarounds (eg: create a second account) for the original issue you reported. None work 100% which is why I didn't elaborate. You are going to have to do a little research to get what you want.

I've looked it up in lots of places but haven't found anything concrete for solution. Is it because I'm using a Fire Tablet and it's not supported on Google Play?

Answered the last question in a previous post (below). As for remote install a tool like AirDroid can get the job done but you will need to get creative with the approach. In the end it may not be worth the effort, especially if the target devices are physically accessible albeit with a little inconvenience wrestling it away from the kid.
