As of new update CyanogenMod 11.0 20140510, my phone will no longer play m4a files, nor am I able to take screen shots, with the former being the more annoying issue. As I don't have the 10+ post requirement to post in the Dev forums, I wonder if this is just me or if anyone else has this issue.
Did you do clan install
If not do it
Also try downloading again and
Install it
Using the thank button it not
So herd gest press it
Did a clean install, and just found out the m4a issue is an CM issue, but haven't heard anything about the screen shot issue.

I am having issues with the gallery in CM6 RC1. The gallery opens, but will only display pictures taken witht he camera since I installed this ROM. Is there a way to specify filepaths for the gallery to look in to find all of my other images? I have searched quite a bit for a solution, haven't seen this topic come up for anyone else. I'm not a dev, but can follow directions pretty well. Any help would be appreciated.
Just reboot the phone, that's what I did.
I've rebooted several times, also wiped the phone and reflashed everything. I installed a 2d version of the gallery, with the same result. Some of my albums also fail to show up in any music player...I can play them through file explorer, but can't even see them in the players. When I flash back to DD2.7 or 2.8, the files show back up where they should be.
try going into dev tools and start the media scanner... worth a shot
The media scanner didn't help, I had run that a few times already. Thanks though.
Try finding another program to edit photos, open and save them. I had a simular problem with my music, and went through all the songs with an mp3 tag editor doing that, and it all came back normal

So basically when using any of the Jelly Bean roms, my music and pictures on my internal storage are not being scanned to show up in their appropriate apps. I have tried all the solutions I have found on other threads but none of them have worked. I know a few people have this problem and I would appreciate it if someone could help as this is the only problem I am having using the Jelly Bean roms.
Solutions I have tried:
Clearing storage media data
Installing other JB roms
Installing different kernals
Mounting SD and emmc in recovery
Factory/Data reset (all JB roms)
Fix Permissions
I usually don't have any problems I can't fix on my own with my experience with Android over the years, but this is the only problem I can't seem to fix.
Help.

This happens in ICS Roms as well (if you perform a clean install), my guess is that you'll just have to wait it out. The Media Scanner should have started automatically once you've finished setting up your phone. Give it a good 30 minutes to scan your stuff and it should show up. Otherwise, try downloading one of the media scanning apps from market (e.g. "Rescan Media") and see if it does the trick.
I know, it is pretty frustrating.
What I noticed is that picasa/google photos sync fine. Those are the only photo albums that show up in my gallery.
But if you take a picture with the camera that picture will show up. Weirdly enough, downloading a photo from the browser doesn't show up.
I have had no luck with any music. Even adding new music via USB doesn't seem to show up either.
It is the only real thing that's keeping me from using Jelly Bean as my daily. If a month or so passes by and Jelly Bean is still not on the Nexus S, I might just do a full wipe and start from scratch. But fingers crossed that Google can step up and get Jelly Bean working as well as on the Galaxy Nexus.
Those who are having issues - does the media process also eat 100% CPU?
Starting to seem like a common problem across all devices with JB...
While mediascanner going nuts is a long standing problem dating back to at least Froyo - it seems FAR more common in JB.
Turns out Google made some significant changes to mediascanner... It no longer caches a bunch of stuff, which kills performance when scanning.
Even if a directory has no actual media files, or has a .nomedia file, it'll scan the entire goddamned directory. One example is that if you have Parallel Kingdom installed, it will sit on the PK directory for 10-20 minutes!
up... any news? This is the only problem JB gives me...!
i had the same issue and i did backup of all my data to my computer after i format sd partition and now it works normal
See my thread about Media Scanner:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801378
There is definitely something amiss with Media Scanner on JB.
Having exactly the same problem with Elite JB..
is there any solution out there? (I read something about .nomedia file, but I don't really know how to do it)

This is the solution I found. I think from ics apps doesn't get turned off even though you press back button. Thus what's happening is that after rescan media is turned on initially, it scans media. After scan is done app doesn't get shut down thus reopening app just opens the app to its previous state wheb scan was complete.
So what you have to do is hit multitask button, close rescan media app by dragging then re open rescan media. It will open fresh and will scan media.
X-Bean ROM scans my media without problems.

Just a wild guess here....
I have a sensation with the newest CM10 JB beta build. I too was having trouble with seeing images in my gallery. Turned out that their is a problem with ROM Manager....so after i deleted it, ALLLLLL the imaged started popping up in my gallery.
Just something to try......
Follow this guide, it works for me; http://ishan-thecholeric.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/solve-media-scanner-problem-on-your.html?m=1
Install QuickPic to view all the images the gallery doesn't pick up.

Has anyone tried the fix I linked above yet?
It works perfectly for me. It keeps media storage running as normal. It only disables the media scanner service that the problem is coming from. Then simply use 3rd party apps like QuickPic to view all the media instead.
I had the same problem but since I installed JRO03L 4.1.1 BETA 9R2 my problem was solved. I haven't had any problem since then. You can try install this ROM...
follow this :good:
The same for my SGS with CM10 latest nightly.
Pics and music do not show up in stock gallery and music player.
Media scanning service keeps restarting.
I aslo tried every solution in the first post but no effect at all.
3rd party app like QuickPic does the job for me, though I have not found some app to play music...
Other than the problem above and lag caused by google search, Jelly Bean is quite smooth on my phone.
Hope someone find the solution...
A temporary fix:
1. Get Nextapp's FX file explorer.
2. Go to the folders with media in it.
3. Tools, rescan media.
The issue with my phone was camera360. Once I froze all 360 files my media scan worked normally.

After u delete all the 360 files, your media scan worked normally even for music? Not just photos?

Media is media, no matter how small.
I have just opened a bug for Android about video play subsystem failure on Nexus 4! None of my previous Android devices had this problem and this is really bothering me! Anybody else having the same problem?
Android Bug report Link (Please star this if you want it fixed):
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=50814&thanks=50814&ts=1361480369
Problem Description:
I have downloaded a video file to my Nexus 4, opened it in stock Gallery application tried to play it with stock video player and the Gallery Application hanged and crashed! After that, you can't play any video files with the device, not even video files recorded with the device camera. The problem persists until the device is rebooted.
Sometimes, when I open an application that fetches thumbnails of videos (like VidTrim), then without even trying to play the unsupported video file the video play capabilities of the device are completely gone!
You can download a video file that causes this problem from here:

Yes, that is why I'm asking if it's just MKV files.

I don't know if happens only for MKV files. I have other MKV files that does not cause this problem. But this specific file causes the problem %100 on my stock 4.2.2 device.
Can some people with Stock Android 4.2.2 and Nexus 4, try to play the file that I shared and see if the problem occurs?
If the problem occurs, after playing that file, you shouldn't be able to even play videos recorded with your Nexus 4.
Please use the stock video player only for testing.
Wow. Finally! I've got the same problem. Maybe because N4 has minimum codec? I wish 4.3 can solved this.
Edit: In my case, even I can't play YouTube when it happened.

Good to see other people having the issue. It's very annoying.
Can you please "star" the issue so that Google gets notified and fixes it. You can also write a comment under the issue:

By the way, YouTube does not work for me too after trying to play that video file.
Yep, i've noticed it in the last month or so, some of the transcoded movies off my plex server cause it and the phone then requires a reboot before it will play anything at all, good to see it hasn't gone unnoticed by others.

Considering "MKV" is really just a container for other codecs, have you tried seeing what the video and audio are encoded in for this file as well as a file you are not having issues with?

Well, I don't know what that will be helpful for? I'm not the one to fix this problem. Google engineers should do that.
Regardless of the video format and codecs, if the format is not supported then it should not cause all the videos subsystem to break down. It should just say its not supported.
By the way, Android 4.3 improved a little bit. Now the problem is not so easily reproducible like in 4.2.2.

Hi people, I have a question which I am sure may stump you, looked thru some other threads but unable to find anything except the thread on google music id tags. Anyway the problem: Google music does not play any more since I flashed Liquid Smooth Rom v3.2 LS-KK-v3.2-2014-10-29. and GAPPS The music starts for a split second then mutes, then comes on again around 30 secs later. When viewing the volume icons in settings the music, video, games & other media is locked to mute with no way to raise it. Also when I try to unlock the phone, it mutes again when playing. The internet did not offer much help and what it did offer I have tried with turning off voice activation for google now. It plays thru Apollo now but did not this afternoon. Went into v4a settings and enabled what I think should be able to get it working even uninstalling the driver and rebooting also downloading the zip file (android forums told me about) and tried to install but super SU told me that "there was another version running with a different signature". I am running nova launcher but went back to liquid launcher to see if any different, still same problem. Drop a line if you may know how to fix it. I am thinking it is something simple but buggered if I know what it may be. I will start to move my music from google cloud back onto my SD card then move it to Apollo player.
Cheers for any help given.
Dan Albress.
I have a couple Lumia Windows Phones 8.1 that I enjoy using strictly as an MP3/Music Player. The reason I like LumiaWP is that XboxMusic is the only App I know of which can shuffle thousands of songs without repeating any. I wish I could play videos through XboxMusic too!
currently I am stuck with using the XboxVideo App for playing videos, but the problem is that XboxVideo will only play 1 video at a time (i cant find any auto-play). Everytime a video ends the phone goes back to the menu instead of continuously playing the next video, forcing me to manually select play for each video. This is really annoying and defeats the purpose of why I like this phone
A few months ago I tried installing VLCplayer on my LumiaWP but it didnt work, and now I heard the Windows Store has been shutdown Im trying to figure out how to install the App manually? I found a guide to install XAP files, but it seems that guide no longer works without the actual Store... does anybody know how I can install VLC on my LumiaWP? or any other video player? I tried downloading the VLC .APPX files (i think?) and put them on my SD card but it doesnt seem like anything happened, seems like most sites link to the windows store which obviously doesnt work
Please tell me there is a way to setup a Video Playlist without having to buy a new phone?
Thanks!
You can install appx directly from device. You just put file in storage and tap "Install" at File Explorer.

I feel like such a newb for not having these things installed before I cant believe my win8 phone doesnt have a file manager lolz
I had an older Lumia Windows Phone for many years and I purchased 2 newer last year, and I unfortunately didnt hear about the Windows Store shutting down until just recently!
I really like these as media players, and luckily one of my newer ones works with Win10, but I still want to try and setup the other one I have (which is still on 8.1) I dont think I can update my older one to Win10, but thats not a big deal if I can find another way to install the File Explorer
Will setting up interlope help me get files installed? I never hacked a phone before, but I'm certainly going to try! Hopefully I can find the time to read more into the instructions later this weekend :good: or... is it not possible without the file app? its a lumia925
Thanks
