as specified it should be 1280 x 720 pixels. screen shot taken by the phone is 838 x 471 pixels. chrome works at half of what specified 640 x 360 pixels. can someone explain what is going on? is there some kind of a setting at what resolution app / rom should work? is there a way to change it?

Real resolution is 1280x720
Depends on the application I think but how did you figure out that Chrome works on diffrent resolution?

i'm developing web page with media queries, that's how. and its pretty obvious that its not 1280x720...
is there a way to change it? I've just installed firefox and its the same 640x360.
Seems weird.. But I think that the webpage/application is doing this?

now way it could be possible. to make web page with plane html / css change resolution of the screen...
Well (this may sound stupid!)
A decent small monitor has a resolution of 1280x720.. So when your device sent out the kind of webpage is wants it should not be the 1280x720 one since that one is for computers..
I believe our device requests a diffrent/other/smaller resolution?
@sunnydyz
only use
@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
and this @media only screen and (min-width: 480px) and (max-width: 767px) {
Dont use pixels sizes, use Percentage(%) for widths.
Because all phones are based in the same layout, if are MDPI HDPI XHPI.
U can test on firefox using ctrl+shif+m, and use 320x480
Sorry for my english

I think you didn't understood what I was asking. I have a screen witch is capable of showing 720 x 1280 pixels. but the browser (chrome / firefox (from app store)) is operating/working with screen resolution of 360 x 640. I want that the browser take full advantages of what my phone is capable of! but thanks for that ctrl+shif+m in firefox, I didn't know it.

Catch the full story here.
Update: Its 4096p videos not 4000p.
they still look horrible compared to a normal hd movie; they really should have increased the bitrate instead of resolution
They are improving as of late though. I like their leanback feature too. http://www.youtube.com/leanback

Yeah have youtube leanback feature is also awesome : http://www.techit.in/youtube-launched-leanback/
Not sure about having a 25' screen for the 4000p But, googles leanback feature is very cool
Nice ladies galaxys!!
next time you better invite me
It isn't 4000p. The resolution is 4096*2304 at 24fps. Therefore, it is 2304p.
Its like calling 1080p video 1920p.

the logic doesn't apply to this resolution. youtube have come out with the resolution that is not yet properly defined. but it is progressive. if u make a good search, u'll find it's defined in 4096p and not taken the logic of height..
in fact, this resolution is completely different, its not wqhd, wfhd... no it's completely something else..
This resolution is called 4K (meaning you need 4 HDTV, each 1080p to watch this ). The area is 4 times larger as the sides are 2 times larger than full HD.
Personally I think it is BS. First of all you need expensive cameras like RED ONE to record videos. Second you need 4K display which are rare and also expensive. And most importantly the quality because of compression is not great.

Hi everyone,
Today I saw the preview video of Honeycomb, Android 3.0. I decided it would be a nice waste of time to re-create the wallpaper shown in the video. Check out the zip file for the result.
The .zip contains the following files:
wallpaper1920x1080.jpg
wallpaper1920x1080_text.jpg
wallpaper480x800.jpg
wallpaper800x480.jpg
wallpaper960x800.jpg
Thanks man the version without text looks great. Just what I was looking for.
I think the blue is actually better than the real one. Reminds me of G-Police
Nice! Thanks
Wow, I can't believe I actually found this through Google hahaha. Many many thanks!
Thanks muchly for this!
Awesome!
First off...thank you very much!!! Ive been searching everywhere to find this. Second, if i may, request on of these be made for a 1240 x 1240 resolution. That seems to be the best fit for my G Tablet which is what i am dying to put this on! Thank you again very much for your work!!

Hi there,
Thanks for the enthusiasm, the making of the wallpaper did take a lot of time
Because 1240 x 1240 sounds like a weird resolution to me, I did a little search on the G Tablet you're using. Do you perhaps mean 1024 x 1024?
Second: however the wallpaper started as a vector drawing, it isn't anymore. So upscaling wouldn't be very different than when you upscale it in your own picture-editing software (e.g. Photoshop).
Enjoy the wallpaper!
Ah, yes you are correct on the resolution. And thanks again for the info!

What is the screen resolution of the HD+ ? I've read in reviews that it's 1920x1280, but I see in our hardware spec on the root level that it's 1920x1200

It is native 1280. But since the navigation bar is usually always there, I think they advertise it has 1200 available. And I don't know what hardware spec on the root level means.

As for the navigation bar always being there, that could be considered an issue on landscape mode.
In portrait mode, those extra 80 pixels can be really handy for reading.
"root level" - The root forum for Nook HD+; essentially, what I'm showing in the screen capture.

I still don't know what you mean. What root forum for the HD+?
And as far as hiding the nav bar, it can be done. See my linked post here.

Thanks. That page only shows if you are using the XDA 2013 beta format in your browser, which I hate. I use XDA 2010 for it's simpler format.
And the authors of that page are just wrong. It is 1280.

Yup, there was some mention about its unusual 3:2 aspect ratio in reviews. Which means 1920x1280. Someone was probably "correcting" what they thought was a conflation of the more usual 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 resolutions.
so what do you guys do for wallpapers?
any 1920x1280 or 1920x1200 image? or soemthing else, since the screens slide horizontally and rotate and stuff.

You actually need something even bigger so your launcher screens can shift. There are some on the device too.
My friend, @Xicor Yagami , showed me the leaked photos of the Nexus 7 2nd version a few hours ago and like him, I also liked the wallpaper very much.

Although I do not know whether its a Simple Wallpaper or a Live Wallpaper, I decided to make a simple one and kind of cloned the wallpaper.
I made it in several sizes. So you can download the one matching your device the closest.
1920x1280 px
720x1280 px
720x320 px
640x480 px
240x320 px
Enjoy!
Here's the Photoshop template in case anyone wants to play around with this, make any other sizes, work on this more or whatever you wish, you can do with this.
Download here.
cool idea!
@EatHeat these are fantastic although I expect the shadows on the left and right in the original screenshot are because of the fact the android launcher applies a shadow to the wallpaper rather than a shadow being part of the wallpaper image itself... If that makes any sense whatsoever :silly: anyway I'm just nitpicking, thanks for these
sorry for cutting in like that, just want to share my versions

Hi. I had a question about the "493dpi" versions of some ROMs I've seen. Basically, what's to gain by using a 493 dpi ROM? I read one of the nexus phones has native 493, but the system sets it to 560 or so. Why would they do that? Is something similar going on with the xt1254? Basically if someone could give me a cliff notes version of what the heck this is about, if appreciate it. Thanks!

I think it's supposed to save battery at the cost of image quality. I'm not sure about that though. Why someone would want to do anything to mess up the Turbo's beautiful screen is beyond me, but to each their own.
Right? Granted I had some crummy phones in the past, but this display is something else! Anyways, I figured it has to have something to do with "pretty" vs. performance (what doesn't?), but I am operating from a position of ignorance.

We actually have 640 dpi for the Quark (Moto Turbo, Droid Turbo, Moto Maxx). Dots Per Inch, which is software based.

We have 565 ppi (Pixel Per Inch)-- which shows Steve Jobs LIED when he said the human eye couldn't see more than 300 ppi. But then he had an iPhone to sell which had a little more than 300 ppi. Funny how that works. Most of the media never called him on it except for Wired magazine who interviewed an optical research scientist who said Jobs was full of crap (but he said it in a scientific way). Proof is our phones.
You can change the DPI but not the PPI (baked into the hardware). But it will break some apps. I've done it before on other phones, but I wouldn't do it any more.
