sony camara give picture with much compression, and its affect a quality and definition
i found a program camara, that can give a picture with a 100% quality a think
in play store "vignette"
BEFORE TAKE A PICTURE
IMPORTANT!!
configuration! vignette
resolution 13 megapixeles
quality
superfine

no efects
and important
Auto save = 2 seconds
and the pictures now are excelentys

Isn't there settings for the stock camera? Like quality and size and stuff like that? Can't find it in the camera app, and I don't get what the HQ, HDR and HDR+ do, and also, it doesn't stay until the next time I use the camera.

Ye I also dislike that the state of the camera app resets back to defaults. For quality and size, you select the 4:3 (3480x4640 = 16.1 Megapixels), 16:9 (2610x4640, 12.1MP) and 1:1 (3488x3488 = 12.2MP).
For advanced users, you have the manual mode.
HDR = High Dynamic Resolution
HDRa = auto-High Dynamic Resolution.
HQ = High Quality
For HDR you can easily google it.
The HQ mode I think tries to use multiple images to get best exposure results (better low-light results?).
HDR should be High Dynamic Range, and is in fact what you describe with multiple exposure.
Then, what should then Auto be in this story, and still, HQ in what way?

Hello,
I'm on the latest OTA update and I can't use these apps.
Filmic pro does not allow me to use 24fps (always goes to 30fps). When I choose the Force FPS option it does 24fps (but this is experimental). My videos shot in 4K are worse in quality than 1080p in native camera app. I talked with the support and they said that i'm the only one with P20 Pro with such a problem. Did any of you use this app and had such problems? Can you share a sample video?
Here is my sample from filmic pro (1080p and 4k video): https://we.tl/s-q5TPnIuzJg
In Cinema 4K it never records in 24fps, and the app crashes every time I try to use flat color profile.
Is my device broken?
b u m p
filmic is not using camera SDK for huawei ( or something like that)
you cannot use 3x zoom camera only main one and if you compare 4k filmic and 4k native (other camera app) 100% crop filmic looks like upscaled 1080p- quality is much worse.
i am using open camera app - at least i can use zoom camera and bitrate is decent 80mbit (max what p20 pro supports).
but whend testing the phone and shooting grass while walking (lot af moving objects) biterate is around 100mbit, when shooting static picture with some pans bitrate is 40-60mbit. i was using 150mbit hevc on galaxy s7 and it is always 150mbit in the dark when recording fast scenes or static objects. with huawei i want high bitrate in night scenes to reduce compression artefacts because of high iso and phone lowers it actualy which is dissapointing.
this phone is very bad for video. old galaxy s7 was much better and has ois.
for photography it is okif you use raw/ bw camera bud also here compression is too high. but actually i think it's only phonefor now that can bring output quality bit closer to nokia 808 output.
Thanks for the reply - that's sad that "the best camera phone" is that hard to use.
I know this is an old phone and the new xperia 1 is far better. However, old but not obsolete :highfive: As an owner for almost half a year. I have been using (testing actually as I am not quite sure about the camera) the camera from time to time and here are my thoughts and the settings that creat tge best overall picture quality.
Ratio : 4:3
As choosing 4:3 can have more accurate autofocus then 16:9 and better sharpness sometimes.
Megapixels : 12mp for daily use (19mp for landscape and or objects far away)
From my testing, using 12mp can actually have less blurry pictures(Taking picture handheld). As according to sony tgat reading out a 19mp picture takes the sensor 1/120 seconds, a 12mp picture might be less than that. And since people may argue that 19mp have better detail to the picture while technically it is true. However the sensor is too small and the benefit is negligible on most of the shots.(But you still can see the difference) Night shot will get less noise too. (Its a noisy mess nonetheless )
Edit : Digital zooming in 19mp mode get much better detail than 12mp
Predictive Capture : Off for image quality (Auto if you have a shaky hands)
This is an interesting one. As sony won't tell you that turning this on can reduce chances of taking blurry pictures because the prediction analyze the viewfinder in real time(taking pictures with the dram time to time) which reduce the time of focusing and reading out picture when you press the button. (But pictures taken with it turned off sometimes have better details)
Object Tracking : On
It detects motion and counter any handshake(e.g. When taking photos on a car)
Its great to track slowly moving cars and buses too.
Also, it applies Scene Detection when you focus manually (e.g. Food mode or Tripod mode) which turnning it off and focus manually with a Blue Circle will not.
Auto-capturing : don't bother as it does not affect image quality
Lens correction : image quality
Edit : (offtopic) Steadyshot on actually fix the distortion on camcorder while taking videos.
Buttom line : The xz3 have a great sensor. That's what I can say (not lens, not software )
Offtopic : It will be great if Raw noise reduction comes to xz3 :highfive:
If you have any ways of getting better pictures, I would like to hear from you!! Correct me if I am wrong:highfive:
On Android 9 with software 52.0.A.8.131 no root
Edit : Predictive Capture on may cause ghosting on moving image. Better turn it off for better image quality.
I found that using screen recording while using samsung camera app in photo mode makes the field of view wider compared to video. And dynamic range is better also.(forget 4k). But good for social media sharing.. but the only problem is the zoom toggle in the way. Is there any way to remove that toggles.. maybe a modded apk or something???...
I think it's because when the camera is in photo mode, the app uses the whole sensor. This means that it is recording with a resolution of 3000x4000 pixels (3:4 aspect ratio). But when you record 4K, the camera app uses only a portion of the sensor equal to 2160x3840 pixels (16:9 ratio). That is the reason you see a wider view in the photo mode and not in the video mode. The only solution right now, might be to use OpenCamera to record video but you have to select the 3:4 ratio in the video settings. If you do that though, OpenCamera will only film with a resolution of 1440x1080 so the video will not be that sharp. I admit, I would love to see a mod or a toggle from Samsung that lets you record in 3:4 though.
Thanks. But what about the hdr.. i mean i have tested it and the hdr performance with ultrawide camera in screen recording is great compared to normal video capture. Even in low light the screen recording looks way too wider and brighter and had great dynamic range. (I have also tested shoooting in 1:1 in video). Kindly test it out and see it yourself. But don't pixel peep it's obviously less crisp than 4k. But great for social media.
I see what you mean. Video from screen recorder is a bit different from video mode. However I do not know why this happens. I suspect that maybe screen recorder is not able to capture the whole color gamut of the HDR preview.
When selecting HDR10+ in 4K the resulting video only has 35MBit/s which is way too low for reasonable quality.
The sky is not rendered with a smooth gradient and the amount of details is very low.
If someone selects these type of video good quality is expected. To get this at least 80-120MBit/s are required.
