Yes, I've seen some descriptions that say it is, in fact a USB host.
It would be very cool if that is indeed the case. I only wonder what's taking Samsung so long to release a simple dongle?
+1 I want this NOW! Plan to buy a 1.8" 250GB Samsung HDD and fill with movies etc for going on holiday etc.

Any idea when this is coming?
Really looking forward to it.
Awesome, just picked up a Galaxy Tab off Craigslist.
Question? Do you think we could use with say a Sprint 3G USB dongle?

No but you could get a myfi or something like this.

But why not get a plan for it? What carrier is it?
Well it's a Sprint one. But I have a data card already and a Smartphone with a plan as well. Trying to see of I could use a dongle or somehow tether with Bluetooth. I may eventually get a pan with it.
I love it so far, very awesome in deed. Was my first experience with Android also. Beein using a Windows Treo Pro.

Well I meant a Sprint USB 3G dongle.
Has anyone tried anyhting like this?
Anyone got any news on this?

Okay, the baove is mentioning the Hardware but i want to ask about the software since i couldn't recognize that there is anything in the setting related to enabling USB to GO
I dont think this will be available for the 7" first gen Galaxy tabs.
I use a Mogo mouse (Bluetooth) with my Tab - works fine. It charges in the expresscard slot in my laptop. I just ordered a USB-to-expresscard adapter...
My goal is to tap that Tab slot and make an adapter to power the expresscard adapter, thus enabling me to charge the Mogo mouse.

If you try to connect a USB-dongel it would need drivers, and I don't think there is any android drivers for those.

Hi Guys,
Got a new HDMI cable and plugged it in today to two 1080P tv's and both don't work.
When I go into the HDMI settings on the phone, every resolution says "TV does not support this resolution", but like I said they are both 1080P tv's.
Is there anything else you're supposed to do to get this working?
Thanks.
Sry to say that but i got no problems with hdmi. I would suggest to make a nandroid backup and flash another rom to test it with this one.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
Thanks what ROM are you running?
I use Fear Edition and tested it a second ago and everything worked fine. independent from Auto or a selected resolution. Seems like its not a rom problem.
No need to set up anything.
EDIT: I tried it on an LG (1080p), on a Panasonic and a Grundig (both 720p). Everything worked except for 1080p on the last two devices of course.

Thanks for that mate, yeh I am on Fear as well :-/
So it must be my cable :-(
Plugged in HDMI cable to evo and VIZIO 1080 HD TV . And nothing,I am running CM7 Supersonic. Is the custom rom the reason why this isn't working.

Should´t you ask this question in the evo forum and not lg 2x?
I dont know. I have asked for a replacement hdmi cable so i know exactly what the problem is.

As far as i'm aware CM7 doesn't support HDMI mirroring yet. It doesn't on the O2x anyway
Just installed HDMI Mirroring free, rebooted, and presto, works great. I got info from a post that explained how to use evo as a desktop.

Need help!
Well, recently I have bought this baby, have been using it for over 2 weeks' plus.
Lovin' every part of it.
BUT, issue came out when I tried to connect my O2X to my Sharp LCD TV via the provided HDMI cable.
It went well at the first place.
I tried browsing the web.
Then executed few videos.
Tried few of the games too. As I was having fun playing with the games with gyros.
Suddenly the LCD went blank. So i was thinking that maybe the cable gone loose or whatsoever.
I unplugged it then plug it back in. Nothing happens.
So i tried HDMI 2 on my LCD, it works for a while, not over 5 or 10 minutes the LCD went blank again!
I plugged it back to HDMI 1, nothing happens.
Is this a faulty HDMI cable or it's my LCD? Or my O2X? I'm using stock rom btw.
If there's no other solution then does the warranty cover HDMI cable?
Need some advices~ Thanks in advance!
I know there has been plenty said about the Nexus 7 and using a USB OTG cable for extra storage but I thought I'd mention my success of hooking up my Nikon D300. I had ordered a USB OTG cable from ebay (r.ebay.com/zf1p7D) before my Nexus arrived. Tonight I plugged the three things together and as soon as I turned the camera on the gallery appeared, all ready for the photos to be imported.
Fantastic, basic photo processing on the go, still can't match Lightroom but I can take this solution with me
Hmmm i wonder if my D3100 can do this Thanks for the heads up!

I don't see why not, I did nothing to get my D300 to work apart from plugging everything together and turning it on. Your D3100 is newer than mine too.

Does USB OTG work on the nexus 7 without root?
EDIT: Just read up on this, so apparently Nexus 7 does not support USB OTG, but it will support USB Host. Does this mean I won't be able to plug in SD-Cards with the USB OTG cable but I will be able to connect keyboards, mouse, or even cameras like your Nikon?

Would you need root to use it as USB HOST? I am planning on plugging in my camera using the cable to see if it would show up on my N7(haven't received N7 yet).
I ordered the following cable:

I don't think you need root to use USB HOST. All you need is the adapter cable. Only if you want to use the N7 to open up storage devices, you will need to have root.
All that I've done getting the contents of my D300 in the gallery was done on a fresh out of the box Nexus 7. No rooting.

OK this is what I was doing. My original idea of buying the USB OTG cable was for controlling the camera from the tablet. So last night I visited the play store and installed a free version of the application (search for Nikon in the store). Once I had cabled everything together and before I had started the application I turned the camera on. When I did the the Nexus sprang into life, opening the gallery. I thought it was something I knocked so I backed out from the gallery and turned the camera off to try again. I did it again and realized it wasn't me. At first a new folder for the cameras photos didn't appear but I did notice that the access light on the camera was flashing like crazy. Then after a few seconds a new folder appeared showing all my cameras photos ready to be imported. I thought it might have been something to do with the application I had installed so I uninstalled that and everything still worked.
Hope this helps.
Edit: my kids got ahold my nexus again.

How'd that work? I have a Nexus 7 and a T2i i'd love to tether.
Does the DSLR Controller app work on Nikons?
I know it works for my canon. And it's awesome. You get all the controls on your nexus screen, and you can see basically what the output will be before taking a picture.

Haha damn, too bad my 5D cant do any of that. Full frame fun makes up for it though >.>
Just wondering, when you plugged in your D300, what mode was it set to? Theres usually a setting on the camera for what to do with USB (act as storage device or connect to printer). Might be why your D300 worked so easily while the other guy's D3100 didnt work at all.
I'm glad you bumped this thread. I finally got my otg cable and am happy/plesently surprised that my d3100 does work with my n7 tablet. I shoot in raw format so I use a special app to view the photos. The stock gallery app does show the camera and a download icon but because of the format it is unable to do it.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the time you put in to show off all these cool features. I'm still waiting on Verizon to release the Note 2 unfortunetly. OK, tried it, but whenever you watch video it full-screens the video to the external display (it is still split screen on the device and you can interact with the other window, but I don't think that is what you were after?).

is it possible to connect MHL adapter to USB hub (using a converter from 11pin microUSB to USB, if such thing does exists) so we can use HDTV mirroring and USB OTG simultaneously?

Oh that actually sounds pretty nice being able to stream video(hopefully Netflix) to the TV, and still browse on the phone. I was actually kinda hoping there would be a way to do exactly what you said it does. Thanks for trying that out, the days till they release it on Verizon are slowing down even more now.

So I do have a question, unless you are on Wifi with the chromecast or hotspot with your phone can you do anything without the two options I just listed?
Wait, you said you hit the video input on your head unit. Don't you just hit the aux input, or am I missing something here? I want to try this on a stock GM 2015 Intellink unit just to see if it works or not. It would be epic if it did. I remember on my old 3300BT Pioneer that I did have a menu item to get video from the aux, instead of the rear cam, did you have to change that setting? If so, my project is DOA since I can't do that.
