I have a MotoX on KK 4.4 rooted.
Recently (since it started bugging about the 4.4.2 OTA update) I notice that occasionally and seemingly randomly, the device with make the animation for switching apps. The active app (even the home screen) fill fade out, then back in again. it almost appears as if the App is switching to something else that is NOT displayed, then back again.
Apps react to this as if the app was suspended and reactivated (Games pause, emails and websites refresh, etc).
I thought it may be something I added from rooting, i.e. Xposed, but I uninstalled all root apps and the behavior persists.
Any advice?
I never had that, I have an rooted and bootloader unlocked Moto X, Gravity Box and other frameworks enabled, I thing the best you could do is to reset your phone, and maybe re-do de update.
Bumping thread.
Update: I tried resetting my phone back, and it went away, but as soon as it started trying to push the 4.4.2 update (which fails to install anyway) the problem returned.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Sometimes when there is modified system files, the OTA update will fail. And to restore this files, maybe the best option is returning to your Stock Android (the same version you are using at the moment), guide here, works flawlessly: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-moto-x-return-to-100-stock-using-t2446515)
And then trying to do the OTA update, remember that soon we'll get 4.4.3, so maybe this bug could be fixed.

Since I manually upgraded from EPE54B to FRF85B to FRF91, my phone has been freezing a lot. I don't really see a pattern to it as far as which apps are open when it freezes. It has happened on Handcent, browsing, Gmail, and probably a couple other apps. Anybody know what could be causing this?
yes u are right, its freezing.
Try this, from lostinbeta:
Yes, boot into recovery (turn off the device, then hold down the trackball while powering on the device)... then follow the instructions to navigate to the recovery window)... I believe when you get to recovery you get an android with an exclamation point.... press volume up, volume down, and power button all at the same time to access the submenus. Wipe should be in there. Works for non-rooted and locked phones. It's the same way I did my manual 2.2 update.
Wouldn't that wipe all the data on my phone?
Select the wipe cache option first and see if that fixes the issue. That only clears the cache partition and not the phone data.
If it doesnt then you might want/have to do a factory wipe which will delete all ur info (so back them up first).
I wiped the cache, but that didn't help. I decided to try disabling some applications to see if one of them was causing the problem. I think I may have found it. I disabled some of the options on LauncherPro that said they could cause instability, and I haven't had a problem since.
I'm having problems with the phone freezing as well.
i had a problem freezing too and i jus did a factory reset/data wipe in recovery and everything came out good no freezes, did manual updates too
I ended up doing a factory reset/wipe as well, and that fixed the problem for me.
Go to the market and grab Process Manager Full. Kill some of the apps running in the background like mail, browser, music or stuff that isn't a service. Free up some memory and see it that temporarily fixes freezing. We all deal with this and for myself, closing apps always unfreezes the phone.
Is there a way to solve this problem without factory wipe? Mine freezes 5 times a day....
On FRF91

I was going through this as well. If I fell back to the original ERD PASSIMG and then updated to ERE27 and stayed there things were fine.
As soon as FRF91 got pushed to my phone it would begin running hotter and lock up / restart many times per day. Yesterday alone I counted five lock-ups in 45 minutes while out shopping with my wife.
I finally got frustrated and last night I rooted my phone and did the hack needed to block the 2.2 OTA. I am currently running rooted 2.1 ERE27 (otherwise stock) and my phone is behaving nicely.
I haven't had a single lock-up/reboot since I rooted. There are some things I miss from FroYo now (like properly working hands-free Bluetooth) but I can live without if it means my phone is behaving properly.
Your still going to get the OTA, I restored one of my nandriod backups FRF85, and the OTA was waiting for me after bootup. You can't flash it though if you have custom recovery. They have rooted stock FROYO, try it out maybe you'll like. I would never go back to 2.1 that's insane.

Has anyone heard of an issue that results in apps randomly exiting without any error messages?
It seems that since upgrading to jelly bean (although this could be a coincidence) apps randomly drop me to the home page without any errors. On relaunching the app it starts from scratch so it isn't an accidental home button press issue.
Just want to see if anyone has experienced anything like it and whether it is likely a hardware (need to get it fixed) or software (wait for update or risk installing a custom rom) issue.
Cheers

I never had this kind of problem when i was in stock rom [v10 or v20]. But i had this problem when i'm going back from cm to stock. I restored my stock nandroid backup i created using cwm. I did clear chache/dalvik/format system, but still my apps randomly fc or exit without error msg. I manage to go back to stock rom by flasing using original kdz file. And everything perfect again.
My suggestion, try to factory reset your rom, if it's still the same, try to reflash to stock rom from .kdz file.
Currently Trying Tapatalk 4 beta from my TF101
I've tried searching, but didn't seem to get anything on this one.
I've been trying to install the OTA Update to 4.3 for a minute, now... Currently, I've got the update downloaded, but it won't continue b/c it's saying the battery is too low. The thing is, the battery is at 100%. It is also plugged into a charger... Tried it with and without.
Here's info on my phone:
MJ5
Rooted via Kingo
Xposed Installer installed (very few modules installed - nothing hardcore)
RootCloak [1.4] installed in order to hide root status from the OTA update service
I have a bit of bloat uninstalled by Titanium Backup... But, that was all AT&T stuff like Navigator - I left the OTA service in place. I froze some Samsung bloat, but didn't uninstall it.
Any ideas on why I'm getting this error?
You have to be unrooted. At least that what I hear . When I got the update I did a factory reset and downloaded the update and installed with no issues.

Blargh. I unrooted via Kingo, rebooted and I am still getting the same low battery error.
I really don't want to have to do a factory reset...... Are there any other options?
Ah, great. Now Kingo won't re-root the phone. Looks like factory reset is what I'll be spending my evening doing.
Great. Did a factory reset, and went to update. It failed; said the installation was interrupted.
I tried two more times... Same results. This is getting pretty frustrating...

Unfortunately nothing will work except restoring back to stock. I had to do that for the last 2 updates we've received. I just did it to get the last update and I am staying stock until Kitkat arrives then will look for a root solution. I know, it sucks.

If you didn't uninstall the Xposed modules the uninstall Xposed that could be your issue right there. Try uninstalling everything root then try again.

Well, at this point, I have done a factory reset several times. No root, nothing installed.
Knox keeps giving me a notification that it's blocking a process... I can download the update and start the install process. Once the phone reboots and the AT&T splash screen comes up, the progress bar will start and get to about 20%, then the phone will restart, then boot normally. Once booted, it will go to the Update page and then say that the installation was interrupted.
What... the... heck... I thought a factory reset restored the phone to like how it was from the factory? I notice my keyboard is the old version, too. When I bought the phone, I had the updated keyboard with punctuation for long-key presses.
Any insights?

Factory reset just wipes your data and cache. It will not reinstall the system files. When you rooted you directly modified some of your system files via root access. Simple solution however. Follow these steps as mentioned before by theorioles33 using Odin and Heimdall. Takes about 10 mins (maybe 30 if its ur first time) Follow every step to the T and when ur back to stock try the OTA. Good Luck!
Is anyone having the same issue as me with one note? It crashes when I try and login every time. I am rooted and have adaway installed as well. Does this affect that app?
I am having this same issue. Just tried it on CleanRom 1.0.
I disabled Adaway and it didn't seem to do anything.
EDIT: This looks to be a bug in the new version. When I opened the new version on my old phone (android 4.4.3) it worked fine since it was already sync'd up. I uninstalled then reinstalled the app and it crashes whenever I try to login.
Hi, I was having this problem with OneNote and other apps with my Samsung s5 unrooted. I had disabled and unistalled the AT&T bloatware I was allowed to and had also encrypted the phone. I had so many issues on this unrooted phone, I finally had to do a factory reset. However, I suggest, trying to reinstall and enable this bloatware again and decrypt your phone first if these are options before a factory reset. These issues were present before and after the latest 298 MB update issued for that phone which is on 5.0. I am now able to use the latest version of OneNote. I did not disable/uninstall any AT&T bloatware this time. I just hid them. I will encrypt the contents of my phone again. I will see if this issues resurfaces AFTER I make a backup. Many of my other issues seem to be resolved to. For example, some of my settings were not changing. The only thing I use my SD card for is to store pictures and videos. However, a few bugs persists. Malware bytes keeps crashing even on a clean install. Hope that helps.

There's an update to OneNote available today, which lets me get a little farther but still crashes when trying to download my notebooks.

I don't think the bloatware is an issue at this point. The application opens, it just crashes when it tries to access information from the cloud.
EDIT: Just tried opening it a few times after doing an uninstall/reinstall and it finally works.. When all else fails, just keep retrying lol.

I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app too, but unfortunately it did not work for me . I am glad it worked for you as that is much easier ! I notice there is an update today. I am hesitant to install it because mine seems to be working now. Maybe their servers were down or something???
I have had this happen to me after a restore of the app. I've solved in by going in and clearing the cache/data for the app and relaunching.
I've done all of that and still no luck. Back to using Google keep for now
Finally got it working ! I tried logging in with another account and it froze up but I opened it back up and it loaded. Then I switched accounts back to the one I wanted to use and it worked! Weird
I'm finding that the Recent Apps screen tends to lose it's memory and show "No Recent Apps" constantly. It clears up for a few hours if I reboot, but typically, within a day it's back to "No Recent Apps". has anyone else experienced this?
I am on the latest Firmware (32.2.A.0.253-US) and it was an OTA update, (as have been all of my updates). The phone is unrooted and bootloader locked and always has been. And I'm using the Xperia Home launcher, but the issue exists in the Google Now launcher as well.

Hello,
I suggest that you flash the strock rom via flashtool (yo can do this procedure without unlock your bootloader)
