First, yes, my phone is rooted.
Now, I uninstalled the stock messaging app a few weeks ago, and was using GO SMS (I had been using Handcent but it stopped letting me open attachments months ago). It was working great at first, even after I uninstalled the stock app, no problems, now when my boyfriend sends me a text I don't get it, and the texts I do get come in in a pop up window and it doesn't notify me I have a new text (it just shows up when I turn the screen on). Also when I go into GO SMS the new messages aren't there, they have disappeared into thin air. The ones I send are there, but the ones I receive aren't there. I tried to update GO this morning and it totally uninstalled it (I did not tell it to unistall). Now when I try to install GO or Handcent the installation fails.
I'm running CM6, if that matters.
OK, rebooted and got GO SMS to install again. I was able to send, but still don't know if I can get them. Either my boyfriend didn't respond, which is likely since he's at work, or he did and I didn't get it... LOL

I seem to remember the stock SMS application was needed for both handcent and gosms to work properly. That would be why your incoming are not showing a notification or showing up in the app. Use a computer to open up the zip of the rom your using and take the stock SMS app from it and put it back on your phone.

If only it was that easy... I can't get my computer to recognize my phone when I have it plugged in. This is one of the reasons I wanted a new phone, but once again Sprint screwed me.
OK, got my computer to recognize my phone (my USB cable is wonky and doesn't work most of the time). While I'm not computer illiterate by any means, I am fairly smart phone illiterate and I'm not sure how to find the ROM. I found the clockwork mod, but can't find the ROM.

Open up the zip file of the ROM (aka the one you downloaded off this website and flashed), grab the stock SMS app (I think MMS.apk?), and ADB push it back to /system/app. Can't post too much from my phone, but search the board/Hero CDMA Wiki/etc, there are instructions on how to use ADB if you don't already know.

This is the right track. Take the zip for your rom, put it on your computer... open the zip and navigate to /system/app and copy the MMS.apk to your sd card on the phone, you should just be able to click the apk from something like astro or estrongs and it will install, if not, you may have to download the android SDK and push it to your phone. If your not familiar with that process, the alternative is to reflash your rom over what you have. You can do so without a wipe if your flashing the same rom.

If you don't have adb installed you should take a look in the dev section and look for my thread on how to install adb. It takes like 15 to 20 min tops. And it might help with your pc not recognizing your phone. Sometimes those htc drivers get outta wack. Hope it helps good luck.

Thanks everyone... going to try to fix the problem tomorrow, now that I finally get a day off where I don't need to have my cell phone operational and can take the time to do it.

Let us know how it goes!
I have a rooted HTC One, though the root checker says it is not currently rooted.
I am trying to get my phone back to factory settings.
When I tried to attach the phone to the computer I get error messages that say that there are not any drivers. There is another message that says that there is not Hardware ID detected.
I cant seem to find any fix when I google this. I hope I can get some direction here to fix this.
I am not a developer, just an guy who likes to play with my toys.
I have tried the basics, removing the HTC software and re installing.
I tried turning the usb debugging off and back on several times.
Thanks

We have no way of knowing what you have done to the phone already to make it invisible to windows ... can you describe what you have already done to the phone with links to the files you used.
no hardware id
I used the instructions from the following web site of QBKING77 (I could not put the link in here because I am too new, just google "QBKING77 root htc one"
Per his instructions I used the file attached and I also loaded TWRP 2.6
I have attached the file I used.
First off, I know that I need Sense for my HTC One to be compatible with HTC Sync Manager. That's not the issue. The issue is that I backed everything up with HTC Sync and now there is no way to get all that stuff back onto my HTC One without having Sense. Furthermore, I had to reinstall HTC Sync Manager several times to get it to work and in the process it had erased my back up and I tried doing a system restore, but the drive that my back up was on was set to not save restore points. I downloaded a recovery program and was able to recover 80-90% of the files. The issue is that I still have no way, to my understanding, of putting them back on my phone or even opening them as they are all encrypted. Or whatever it is that HTC Sync Manager does to files when it backs them up. So you can see the predicament I'm in and it's not a favorable one.
Lastly, I'm beginning to regret doing this and it's making me feel terrible.
Please, if anyone can help I would be so relieved.
Same problem

Hi there, my first post ever so lets hope I get good results.
I forgot to backup my photos before doing a factory reset so there goes my daughter's photos when she was born - if my wife finds out I'm dead.
I Started downloading all these android recovery software such as Dr Android and few others however when it comes to detecting phone the software says it is unable to? What the? I can see the drive in my computer however it only comes up as a media drive.. I also tried deverloper mode and enabled usb debugging with no luck.
Any ideas guys I'm really stressing out about this and I need to figure something out asap.
I'm running Windows 8.1 on my PC and 4.4.3 on my phone (stock).

You can recover back all the photos if it was saved on the SD card, here's how it's done - http://youtu.be/JthS9Q3iMqI
The same app can be used to recover data from your SD cards...

sorry it won't work because the phone will not show up as a drive in the software their showing, It has to do with the phone being in MTP mode
Hi all, new here
I have a HTC desire that was updating and lost all power, then when it switched back on it would go to the HTC logo, then to a blue screen then reboot.
I have read various things about how to reinstall the software etc, but none of them seem to work.
I have installed the HYC Sync and when the phone is attached the drivers start to install then fail, I've also tried using the fast boot option that shows the fast out USB option when I connect the USB, but still won't be recognised by anything.
I've also tried to install the drivers manually and nothing seems to work.
Some people say I have to have the software preloaded onto an ascaris, and some say I can navigate to the software within Windows, but I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly.
Could anybody please point me in the right direction to get this phone back up and running?
Many thanks in advance

You will need to find the correct RUU file or other means of reverting to stock. Have a hunt around in the above section and hopefully you will find what you need.
Thank you, will have a look and see if I can figure it out ?
