HTC Sync Manager and CyanogenMod issues - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First off, I know that I need Sense for my HTC One to be compatible with HTC Sync Manager. That's not the issue. The issue is that I backed everything up with HTC Sync and now there is no way to get all that stuff back onto my HTC One without having Sense. Furthermore, I had to reinstall HTC Sync Manager several times to get it to work and in the process it had erased my back up and I tried doing a system restore, but the drive that my back up was on was set to not save restore points. I downloaded a recovery program and was able to recover 80-90% of the files. The issue is that I still have no way, to my understanding, of putting them back on my phone or even opening them as they are all encrypted. Or whatever it is that HTC Sync Manager does to files when it backs them up. So you can see the predicament I'm in and it's not a favorable one.
Lastly, I'm beginning to regret doing this and it's making me feel terrible.
Please, if anyone can help I would be so relieved.

Galaxy Tab P100-cant delete prior owner info

Ive searched and havent been able to find a solution to this, although Ive seen it asked before.
Galaxy Tab P100 bought from a pawn shop. It still has the prior owners (unknown) gmail info minus p/w. I cannot remove the account, or access market because of this. Everytime I tried to data reset (both via Privacy settings and also CWM), add a new rom, or add apps - after I reboot it goes back to the prior owner settings and apks.
I have Odin'd/Heimdall with different roms but they dont stick. Different kernels install though. Ive added two different CWMs. Superuser breaks after every reset - I gain, then lose, root. Ive rooted/added root explorer and deleted accounts.db and user.db - they go back after. Ive spoken with Sprint and we tried everything they had, as well as a ##786# and MSL number (resetting phone activation I think?). Their response was take it in to send back. I want to fix it myself.
It seems to me that this prior info is overriding and reinstalling every reboot, preventing any new flashing/etc from taking place.
Here is my question. I took it apart this morning and disconnected the battery (thinking maybe it will wipe any memory). But does it have a CMOS-type battery? I noticed there is a small round battery-looking connection soldered into the mainboard (see here - step 7/8 http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-Teardown/4103/1)
Does anyone know what this is? I dont really have anything to lose, but Im not great with a soldering iron, but will try. Im thinking this might be for the memory, and disconnecting/reconnecting this would erase any permanent user information, freeing it up for me to add mine.
Or if anyone has any new ideas I would appreciate it.
Thanks for the time. Ed

It is not a battery backed memory, it is a NAND chip.
Sounds like the chip gone bad.

Just an update.
I did not do anything with the round battery thing, as priyana stated the memory is stored on a nand chip. I put the tab back together.
I rooted again, and found the ea24 firmware and loaded it via odin. It took, but the prior user info was still there, and everything (I mean a crapload of apps) began force closing. I did confirm that ea24 was on it. I then flashed back to ef17.
I contacted Sprint repair store again, and they told me that they probably cant fix it, and its something they have to send back. They said that I have done all that they would do in-store.
I dont understand what could be wrong, as I found the prior owner and spoke with her. She had no issues with it. It worked fine prior to her getting rid of it. And it works fine, I just cant get rid of any prior info. I googled it and it seems like there are people out there who have the same problem, but no one has an answer, including sprint or samsung.
So much for my venting. Ill keep trying to find an answer.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for posting something that won't really help, but I recognize this from somewhere else. On some devices, there's some kind of file (that you can delete via the adb prompt when you're root) that on every bootup checks to see if the installed ROM matches stock, and if not, restores to stock. This sounds exactly what you're experiencing when you mention that no ROMs "stick".
I think you should try to look into if there's some files that need to be erased in order for a ROM to be cleanly installed that you haven't gotten rid of. It might also be some kind of feature that the previous user enabled, so maybe it's somewhere around in the settings that you can disable it, who knows.
It definitely does not sound like a memory issue because I don't see how a memory issue could make the stock ROM suddenly appear again after you've installed a custom ROM through CWM (assuming CWM gives no errors or anything and the custom ROM has actually been wiped).
Maybe you can do a more thorough wipe of the device memory manually with some guidance from someone who knows more about how these tablets work :fingers-crossed:
I agree with you about some type of file and bootup. Thats why I went with maybe it being a cmos/nand issue. I couldnt understand that I wiped everything, and information was still coming back. It makes me think that somewhere, something is being stored separate from the main drive.
Ive used the factory restore, CWM (2 different versions - 3 and 5 I believe), and wiped data (factory reset), cache and Davlik three times each before I flashed the CM ROMs. And I have not had any errors or problems installing any of the CWMs.
I spoke with the previous user, and she did nothing above turning it on/off, and using it. I am not on the Sprint network with it, and the wi-fi doesnt turn on until I set it up, so I cant see it being something that contacts Sprint and OTAs from them.
Can anyone tell me if, using ADB, there is a more thorough wipe I can perform ? More than the normal one done through CWM or Android factory restore?
Something similar to the reformatting of a hard drive?
Thanks
Ed
I have the same problem. Did you find any solution?
I believe the previous owner info is stored on sprint servers. When you reboot, it downloads all the crap.
The long time required to reboot explains the slow transfer of data - wireless.
These wireless service providers are pretty sneaky.
Thanks
Hi,
Have you tried formatting both internal and external Sd via Windows? (connecting via USB)
You can also try CM10, it has a different memory map which will write your device completely.

recover delete pictures

I accidently delete some pictures on my HTC one, I tried a couple of programs to recover my pictures.
But non of the program seem to be able to finde my HTC, ever though its in debugging mode.
What program will you recommend for recover delete pictures.?
I'm on stock and are not rooted.
its hard to recover stuff using your computer because the HTC One is detected as an MTP device. Go to the playstore and search photo recovery and try some of the apps that come up. I remember using one that seemed to work really well just dont remember its name.

Thanks, i will look around
If you come up with the name of the app, please let me know.
edit:
I just tried 10 different apps, 8 was adware not doing anything.
Only app "worked" and let you recover 3 pictures, you don't get to choose which one, and i couldn't find the three pictures afterwards.
I'm a little lost now.
still lost
I have tried several apps, but still no dice.
I have tried dr. fon and remo. but they both can't recognize my htc one.
dr. fon just keep booting my phone.
It looks like it wanna install a driver, but which one i don't know.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Recovrering photos aftet factory reset. HTC ONE M7 4.4.3 Kitkat. HELP!!!

I accidentally did a factory reset and forgot to backup photos. I don't want to lose the photos as they are very precious to me. I have tried various software that claim to recover photos however I have had no luck as they are not able to detect phone (I tried developer mode).
I'm willing to pay money to get help on this one.
First you have wrong the thread. This is Nexus One not HTC One. Second, you must install the correct phone drivers from HTC support website. Then you can use a dedicated recovery software like Recuva, Undelete 360, Paragon or what I recommend File Scavenger. Some are free some not. Good luck!. Take care and donĀ“t install anything on phone because if you overwrite the data the recovery chances decrease.

[Q] Help... Please. HTC One M7 not connecting to computer after wipe

I know this is not really what this website is designed for but I could really do with your help as the Pros!
Okay, so I wiped my HTC One M7 because I wanted to put a different custom ROM on there, no big deal, done it a 100 times right? Well I guess I must have done it wrong this time (Maybe I ticked too many boxes?) because this time it completely formatted my phone, I mean, including the TWRP back up restore points and all the ROM zips I had in their own little folders on my internal SD card. Anyway, no big deal I just plug it into the same computer I always use (this was actually the 3rd time I had wiped and put a new ROM on today as I am just trying new ones :good: so I know the PC is fine) and it comes up with "Installing driver" but instead if it being called "HTC One M7" or whatever it usually says it just says "Android". At this point I am starting to panic a tiny bit... Anyway after about 3 min it fails and "Android" has changed to "htc MTP Device" and I cant get on to it put a ROM on there to give it a OS.
So! Troubleshoot mode activate!!!!! I start Googling, try a few different solutions, couple of Cab file installs and the like but nothing! So I un-install everything HTC related: the HTC Sync Manager and the HTC Driver Manger and even the APKs I had... Everything! An then unplug my phone and start installing them again, plug in the phone and..... NOTHING!! Exact same thing happens. I even tried using a different computer, then installed all the HTC driver stuff on it and it still didn't work. So I start to cry a little bit but then I remembered something I did for a few Salesmen that worked for the company I work for a few years ago! They wanted to get data off a USB stick and onto their Samsung tablets, I bought them a USB Female to Samsung port and it saw it as another data drive, will I have to do that with a USB Female to OEM cable? Will that even work? As it is still sorta seen as a HTC so at least it knows what it is, I refuse to think that it is done for!... Is it?

looks like a driver issue. uninstall everything and install HTC drivers manually. See FAQ #2 of nkk71's guide (linked in my signature). Once your drivers are fixed, flash latest twrp version 2.8.6.0 (assuming you have the M7 GSM). Boot in twrp 2.8.6.0 main menu, you'll be able to see your phone storage from your computer like if it was a usb stick. Drag and drop your rom.zip or your nandroid backup and flash it or restore it (as applicable).

Okay I have fixed it!!!! I had to plug it in at the TWRP stage and then I had to change its driver setting to a "General USB Storage Device" then it activated and renamed itself to "One" and dropped down into the USB Controllers menu. Now I can browse it and put a ROM on it!
Thanks for your help!

Help with HTC 510, blue screen.

Hi all, new here
I have a HTC desire that was updating and lost all power, then when it switched back on it would go to the HTC logo, then to a blue screen then reboot.
I have read various things about how to reinstall the software etc, but none of them seem to work.
I have installed the HYC Sync and when the phone is attached the drivers start to install then fail, I've also tried using the fast boot option that shows the fast out USB option when I connect the USB, but still won't be recognised by anything.
I've also tried to install the drivers manually and nothing seems to work.
Some people say I have to have the software preloaded onto an ascaris, and some say I can navigate to the software within Windows, but I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly.
Could anybody please point me in the right direction to get this phone back up and running?
Many thanks in advance

You will need to find the correct RUU file or other means of reverting to stock. Have a hunt around in the above section and hopefully you will find what you need.
Thank you, will have a look and see if I can figure it out ?
