Telcel on Sprint HTC One - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi, i just traded an iPhone for this great piece of equipment, I was on android but decided to give iOS a try (no thanks).
I got this and I got data working, but I feel that the 3G is very slow, it shows a GSM icon for data. Is it just me?
Its on stock rooted 4.1.2 sprint ROM.
Thanks!

I am with the same issue... Have you fixed it?

If your One is from Sprint you are in very bad luck.
Those cant be used on 3G on America (Telcel) since those dont have 850MHz Band for 3G. Is not a matter of software is a matter of hardware, this cant be hacked or dampered. They are locked by Sprint only for 1900/2100 bands.
Only the ones from AT&T or TMobile can be used on those frecuencies.
You only can use M7 from Sprint for make phone calls and SMS along wifi.....for data you will get just 2G - EDGE
Sorry.

[Q] Nexus 1 stuck on Edge signal

I just purchased a rooted Nexus 1 from eBay. It came with Cyanogen 6.0 RC3. 5.08 radio. I noticed it was always displaying an E for edge signal. I went into the phone menu (*#*#4636#*#*) to set it to WCDMA Only. It then would not get a signal at all. I set signal back (WCDMA perfered) and Flashed Cyanogen ROM again with 4.06 Radio. I still get only EDGE. I have another Nexus 1 and it goes between H and 3G (HSPA is active in my area). Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix?
One is AT&T band and another is T-Mobile band, perhaps?
No they r for T-Mobile. The problem is it only shows edge and never 3g like it should.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Try flashing back to stock to see if it keeps doing that.
Did you check settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks "use only 2g networks" unchecked. I assume you did since you know the (*#*#4636#*#*) method, but maybe someone else will read this who needs it. If that doesn't work I would test an ATT sim card to clear my curiosity.

Yes I did check this. What will testing phone with ATT sim card do? Phone is advertised as unlocked and rooted. What am I missing?
For 3g, T-Mobile USA exclusively uses the AWS 1700/2100 MHz frequency-band, and ATT uses the 850/2100 MHz band, so a special batch of N1's were made for ATT with different hardware. If a friend's ATT sim card picks up a 3G signal, it means you can't pick up T-mobile usa.
You said the phone was advertised as unlocked and rooted. The thing to check would be to ask if the phone is compatible with ATT's 3G bands or T-mobile's 3g bands. "Unlocked for all GMS carriers" for example, only tells you that it works on all EDGE networks. I haven't seen a Nexus One that can run both 3G networks, but they may exist. (Was there anything in the ad specifically about the 3g bands?)
The ATT Nexus One is more rare, you may be able to sell or trade with someone in the marketplace here on xda or on the internet somewhere.
Sanity check: shut down the phone, take off your battery cover, remove the battery and tell us the FCC ID. It's in the second of three lines of text below where the barcodes are.
My AWS (T-Mobile) Nexus One says:
FCC ID: NM8PB99100
If you have the AT&T version it should say:
FCC ID: NM8PB99110
Note the single-digit difference. If you have the AT&T version you'll want to trade it with someone else who has the T-Mobile version in order to get 3G. If this is the case, you're in luck, because the AT&T version is discontinued and lots of people would be very happy to obtain one from you.

Thanks for the information. You hit the nail on the head! The phone is marked as one of the early AT&T Unlocked models. I also had one of my friends put his AT&T card in the phone and it picked up 3g just fine. I spoke to seller of this phone on ebay and he said he would take item back. IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM SO THAT PHONE WILL WORK ON T-MOBILE?

hmm...I don't think so.
Take it back to the seller or trade with someone
As many already stated in the thread (starting with me), you have AT&T Nexus, and there is NO WAY to make it work with T-Mobile. But, as also stated, you're lucky - lot of people will probably be happy to trade with you or buy it from you.
I just got a flawless AT&T Nexus One for next to nada $150 from a guy that heads up the IT department at a hospital, he had bought over a dozen f them and I mistakenly thought that since they were Google Nexus devices and since I had a "android data plan" and because I could make and receive calls and get on the web that all was good! What I didn't realize is that I'd be stuck on EDGE for good, they only real downside is that I cannot be on a call and surf the web at the same time, I'm just glad I got a pristine phone that's outta warranty, and running 2.3.6 (stock) and for only $150! Also I've always been a physical keyboard guy, so darn I get EDGE... I run the fastest web on my WEP encrypted network at home and hop on the VPN network at school, and now that the bastards at TMOB don't offer (unlimited) I really don't use alot of data anyways cause I don't goto social networking sites neways!
Any one wanting to trade a TMOB NEXUS ONE for a ATT NEXUS ONE??

Can this device the 4G one work on tmobile Hugh speed network?

Probably not. T-Mobile's and ATTs 3g bands were different frequencies (1700mhz vs 850/1900). However, in some places T-mobile has started to use 1900mhz and unlocked ATT devices will work. This seems to be random right now and even T-mobile support may not be able to tell you where.
Or you can do what I did, and get nrvate's CM10 build for the i957 (I'm a noob so no links for me yet) then flash this radio: Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip (Google it). I get full HSPA+ and have clocked DL speeds up to 19000kbs. Of course YMMV, and no guarantees that it will work for you, won't brick your tab or kill your pets.

can you PM me a link how to do this. I have my tab rooted, but no roms installed yet. Do you have the links for the roms? What recovery are you using to flash?
Thanks!

Yeah it works well with the only problem being the power usage is rather high, and drains faster in idle. After looking at logcat I think this radio doesn't go into idle mode properly so keeps sucking power when not in use. Running it's a little less usage (maybe 30 min less) but on idle it drains in 24 hrs. Turning off 3g helps but for me I can live with this to get 20mb down. When ICS for the i957 finally shows up it should be possible to see a better radio get put in CM10 (which is still in early development, but that's what the ROM below is based on).
I'm using TWRP for recovery. After Clockwork being kind of wonky I have seen the light and use TWRP on all my devices. It just works.
The ROM is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867579 and go to post#2. There are some issues but it runs remarkably well for being like 3 weeks old.
This is the radio I used from a Galaxy SII. Google Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip and get it from Dev Host. I found out about it looking at radios for similar hardware and found that the Note is close so I took a chace and did it. So far so good!

This is great to hear. I am going to hold off for now, as I would have to open a TMobile account, and I really dont NEED to have this until I start traveling in a few months.
Now what would be AMAZING, is if somehow this tablet could work on verizon. I have a huge corporate account with them and it would cost me next to nothing to add the tablet to the account, assuming it would work. I didn't think it was possible, but then again, I didn't think TMobile high speed connection was possible either.
Any idea if there is a way to get this working on verizon? Or if anyone is even trying?

I can tell you that is impossible. T-Mobile uses GSM and Verizon uses CDMA. You can only put a SIM card device on GSM carriers (TMO and ATT).

I could not tell you as T-Mobile doesn't have LTE yet. TMO will use a band that the i957 can support, but it will probably take another radio (if any) to work. I've seen 21mb down from HSPA+ so even if I never see LTE I can't be too disappointed

Yes it is. The device was locked at ATT and AFAIK there is no other way other than going through a unlock service. I used cellunlocker.net. $25 and your IMEI gets you a code in a few hours.

As I said that is impossible because the carriers use incompatible setups. SIM card carriers (GSM) will only work with other SIM card carriers. Verizon uses CDMA with no SIM cards. The networks themselves are completely different and hardware cannot be hacked to work. Most of the world uses GSM with SIM cards and if you travel overseas, you'll need a GSM device to use unlocked devices on any networks. Blame Verizon for picking a standard that 80% of the world doesn't use
Has anyone tried flashing the tmobile high speed radio but on the current rooted stock ICS rom instead of the cm10 rom?
In other words, i have a stock rooted sgh-i957 on samsungs ICS rom and i want to be able to use tmobile high speed network (HSPA+). Does anyone know if thats possible?

[Q] HTC First on T-Mobile 3g

Hi all!
I recently purchased an HTC First in hopes of running it on T-Mobile's $30/unlimited plan. Rather than doing my due diligence in researching radio bands, I bought the First and ended up stuck on T-Mobile Edge (2g) network.
This is because T-Mobile 3g/~4g uses the 1700MHz+2100MHz spectrum, while the First is set for AT&T 3g: 1900MHz+2100MHz.
Through more research I found that the Samsung Note II had the same problem, but by modifying the radio they could get it to use the 1700MHz spectrum as it is only disabled.
I hope to keep researching if this is possible, but does anyone have any information to help/completely demolish any hopes for this?
Thanks!

T-Mobile AWS (1700 3g) *might* be there. *IF* it's there, you might be able to flash the baseband of the HTC One Mini when it comes out (and *IF* it has AWS). Haha, yeah, a lot of ifs and mights. As far as I know, I don't know of any other HTC first variants (even though the HTC website lists others for other regions)
However, I wouldn't worry too much. The AT&T version will work on T-Mobile's refarmed 1900 MHz 3G and T-Mobile's LTE.

Haha yikes. Thanks for the informative reply!
I ended up selling my First to a friend on AT&T who wanted to get away from iOS, and bought a used HTC Incredible 4G which I'll continue to use on my unlimited Verizon plan. Going to give the T-Mobile sim to my girlfriend who has a Nexus 4 and wants to leave AT&T. I've switched phones 3 times in the past week but finally ended on something to temporarily replace my aging Galaxy Nexus. I'll reevaluate after the X phone comes out this fall!
Haha, yeah, I've been looking for phones since my Sensation died and want to move on from the Fusion 2 I've been using on T-Mobile.
It looks like the X phone, HTC One Mini, and the Xperia SP are all very similar with only camera and battery differences. I'm stuck trying to justify spending more than double with any of those over the HTC first for a better camera, gpu, and/or battery.

Thanks for chiming in on that. So its 4G and not their "LTE?"
I'm really leaning on picking up a new/leftover HTC First on ebay or something to fiddle with. I've heard its a pretty solid device with great build quality; only downfall is no expandable memory.

Yeah I haven't found lte yet but it is supposed to be near me. The 4g or HSDPA+is fast though. I get 4-9 Mb/s down on it. I may drive through a lte area tomorrow. Currently I'm only using a $30 pre paid to try out t mobile in the areas I generally go.

[Q] Nexus 6 Not getting LTE AT ALL

Hi, I'm using my nexus 6 which I bought in Asia (as far as I know, there's is no different variant that supports different bands when it comes to the nexus 6) in America with T-Mobile as my provider. I'm getting good signals, however I have never gotten LTE. I thought it was my APN problem, so I changed my APN according to T-Mo's website but still nothing. I then wiped my phone, flashed a new rom and flashed two different radios with clean wipes in between (MDM9625_104651.11.05.17R and MDM9625_104649.09.05.14R), nothing. I then changed my sim with my brothers sim which is getting LTE on the Nexus 5 (we live in the same apartment and run the same data plan), still the same.
Under phone testing, (*#*#4636*#*#), it shows I have HSPAP, but when I change to LTE Only, I get no service AT ALL. It turns into only emergency calls.
Does anyone know what I can do to diagnose or check?
Any answer is appreciated. Thank you!

Unlocked sprint note 4 sm-910p on tmobile

Wondering if there are any tmobile roms that work on a unlocked sprint version. I'm using a sprint rom now and it works ok. Just want to be the most compatible with tmobile as possible. I am a noob to using unlocked phones. I was with sprint for 10 + years and just switch to tmobile last week. Thanks in advance
Update- i flashed the the tmobile maximum ovrdrive n5 rom and its working great! Came from a sprint hybrid note 5 rom. Wiped and did a clean install and everything works great. Still no lte but my 4g has gotten better speeds. My new question is im still on my sprint ok1 modem should i try a tmobile modem or stay with it the way i have it?
I don't believe you can use a sprint phone on tmobile. Different network. And as for the rom. I don't think there are. I could be corrected but sprint phones are only good on sprints network and that's it.
