Stuck on Red M logo - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking for a bit of help/advise RE being stuck on the Red M logo.
My battery died the other day and now when i try to boot the fone all i see is the Red M logo. I can access the fastboot menu (power button + vol dwn) but if i try any of the optons in there (recovery/factory etc) all that happens is the fone reboots to the red M logo.
Does anyone know what may have caused the problem and more importantly how i mite be able to fix it?
Thanks for any help.
*********Solved*********
Just an update to the original post to say i solved the problem thanks to Hashmutz and 5m00v3 's help.
For future reference incase anyone else lands here with the same problem what i did was followed this guide to re-flash the stock rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176753.
which i got from the link 5m00v3 provided later on the post but for easy ref i found mine here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=13
Also, i didnt need to unlock the bootloader to do this which made my life a lot easier.
!!! And I'm also told DONT DOWNGRADE FROM 4.1.2 to 4.0.4 !!! or you will brick the fone so dont do that!!
And again Massive thanks Hashmutz and 5m00v3 for all the help.

Does it happen only because you previously ran out of battery?
If yes, do you use the Motorola charger?
I'm asking this because I once had some problem charging my Razr i using a old charger (a less powerful one).
I couldn't boot and could charge the device. It only happened when battery is very low.
This is maybe your issue...
Otherwise, if you didn't unlocked your bootloader you may ask the Moto support for an advice.
You battery may be defective.

I once had this same problem while flashing a Rom and the battery died and solved it by flashing Stock Rom (Recovery) in RSD (try doing the same).

Thanks for the response guys.
The battery seems to be fine. when its powered off you can see the battery charge status and its charging fully.
With regards to using RSD to flash the stock rom. I was looking at a few threads on this and wondering if it would work but do you know if i need to unlock the boot loaded to do this? And if so can this be done if i can only access the fastboot and stock recovery menu's?

You need unlocked bootloader in order to use RSD because it will flash partitions. I believe you can only unlock bootloader in fastboot and you'll only need adb on your computer to do that (Search for a tutorial if you don't know how to).

you DONT need to unlock bootloader to flash stock firmware with RSD Lite !!!
You only need Original Firmware: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=13
+ RSD Lite 6.1.5
!!! AND DONT DOWNGRADE FROM 4.1.2 to 4.0.4 !!! or you will brick

IT WORKED!!!!!
Massive thanks Hashmutz and 5m00v3 for all the help. Really appreciate it. Also, thanks ciberbeb for adding your voice to the conversation too. Reallly glad to have the fone working again.
For future reference i'll add my solution to the original post incase anyone else comes along with the same problem but what i did was followed this guide to re-flash the stock rom:

As 5m00v3 said i didnt need to unlock the bootloader to do this so made my life a lot easier.
Again big thanks for all the help guys.

Thank you very much !
Your instructions saved my life and my phone!
Thank you !

[Q] [HELP] [SOLVED & HOW TO] Xperia X8 Seriously "Bricked"

EDIT: SOLVED THANKS TO damir87
Ok guys, after a lot of research and messing up I ended up needing to ask for help.
I started trying to install cyanogen mod 9 (Android 4.0.3) where everything was going fine, but when I flashed the kernel with the "Custom Gingerbread kernel nAa-11" and installed the cyanogen 9 ROM with xRecovery, but when I started the phone (And it's still like this ATM) after the Sony Ericson logo, it appears the XPERIA logo with the lighting animation, it does the animation about 3 - 4 times and freezes after that and stays there, sometimes it does the animation 3 times, disappears and appears the logo again and then freezes.
I realized this happened because I didn't unlock bootloader. I can actually check the bootloader and I get the message that says it's locked but you can unlock it but to unlock it I have to have it turned on with USB debugging on.
Also, sometimes when I try to flash it again, after connecting it and the green light turning on it says I have plugged the device in flash mode, then it says I unplugged it and tells me that an error occurred, then the phone boots up by it-self.
BTW I'm a bit newbie in the section of "flashing" and the kernel and the baseband stuff, I'm not sure if with flashing, you flash the kernel, the baseband, or the ROM it-self, or even if you can install a ROM with the flashtool with the phone on flashmode.
BTW I can't access xRecovery.
- SEUS Says my phone is already up to date and all I can do is click finish.
- PCC Says there's not software available for my phone.
WHAT WOULD BE PERFECT TO FIX THIS:
A way to change the ROM to the android 2.1.1.C.0.0 without booting the phone(in flash mode).
HOW I SOLVED IT
-I simply downloaded this stock ROM (2.1.1.C.0.0): http://www.mediafire.com/?eca0sualnao4c4c
-Then just used flashtool V0.2.9.1 (I think it's important that you use that exact version): https://rapidshare.com/#!download|5...|62602|R~5490459C5764641D4665C046409A620A|0|0
(Sorry for rapid**** host, couldn't get any better)
After that it took the phone about 5~ mins to start up after the 2nd SE logo.
Again thanks to damir87!
I was newbie too , but reading threads helped , use SEUS Sony PC Companion to restore to stock.

Thanks for the reply, but Sony PC Companion needs the phone to be ON and on debug mode, actually I can't fully boot the phone and SEUS gets stuck on "checking connection to the phone" or something like that.
Also PCC says there's no available updates for the phone. <.<

With this you say it'll do everything?
Even the rooting while on flashmode? and instal xRecovery?
Remember I can't access the phone.
BRB In 3 hours with the ****ty 30kb/s, gonna practice shuffle.
This file is stock 2.1 for x8 so when you flash this your phone will not be rooted and will not have recovery installed, thats you gonna do after flashing stock rom! btw B.Jay is write nice and detailed tutorial so you can follow these steps to make your phone work!

You had already updated to JB?
Even with an unlocked Bootloader you can't downgrade to ICS with RSD easily.
You have to remove the line gpt.bin & motoboot to flash an ICS Fastboot without an Brick. If you don't do that your Bootloader will be messed up and your Phone is dead.

My phone can enter fastboot
My phone can enter fastboot,“flash motoboot failed” with RSD, what can I do?I see motoboot the SBF inside. .Sorry, my English is poor
The beginning of time, the RSD can not read the phone, and then I try to use fastboot command Brush, brush into the boot file, brush system prompt bl file is too large, failed, and then I replace the computer, reinstall the system, RSD connected to the phone brushofficial SBF to the third step flash motoboot failed.I want to brush the official 4.1 GB was originally 4.0GB.How should I do it now?
What Firmware are you trying and what Firmware where you running, before you messed up?
I hope for you that you're not on your way to flash ICS over JB.

I notice that a lot of the bricks posted in these threads (and PMing me) have often less than 10 posts. This suggests people sign up here, download firmwares, flash without reading anything and BOOM. That's clearly a serious cause of a lot of this.
There appears to be different kinds of bootloader problems, I'm not totally sure if some of these are dead or repairable.

[Q] Stuck on Motorola logo help please

Complete newb here, i haven't done any development work or even tried rooting or flashing my phone. Over the last couple of days, apps have started crashing as soon as i open them, and then yesterday i rebooted the device and it won't go past the Motorola logo. I've searched through a few threads and there isn't a simple enough answer or procedure to follow to get this working. Also most similar issues have USB debugging on etc, whereas i have no developer settings on at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated
You didn't search enough for an answer i see. But okey for the lazy i will help you, no offense
Can u access (AP)fastboot and can u boot into recovery from fastboot? Have a look at the link in my signature on how to get in fastboot and then in recovery.

Literally my first post mate, how about you cut me some slack. I spent about 4/5 hours searching last night and even took the phone apart. If there is an answer please point me in the direction of it. There are countless threads where the issue is the user has loaded their own ROM or flashed the device already or something like that, which caused the system files to become corrupted. But as i mentioned i have done nothing to the device except for a data wipe a few months back, and there doesn't seem to be any threads where this just happened out of nowhere. I have booted into fastboot, recovery and done the partition cache & data wipe and rebooted, that was my first step.

Hoho, okey, my words have offended you and I am sorry for that.
I can't simply give u an answer if you only said that it doesn't boot and u looked for something to fix it. There are many fixes for many sorts of problems. Also if I knew u have tried to wipe the cache and data I would give u a totally different answer. But u had not mentioned anything about what u had done to try to fix it.
For now, if even a data/factory reset from recovery didn't work I suggest u need to try to reflash the whole stock firmware. See in my signature the link to an index thread about the phone. U can find there the ways to reflash to your stock firmware and hopefully fix your issue.
If u need some more help to flash stock firmware, don't hesitate to ask here.

So, this is all brand new to me. I'm using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974568
The firmware is from here - http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=13
- I chose the 4.1.2 UK Retail as i purchased the phone through Virgin Mobile (UK)
Drivers and RSD 6.1.6 are now installed so will try now
Is everything right so far?
Seems to have worked, but it seems a bit different and some apps like hangouts are unavailable now, even though i had them before. The firmware i chose was UK Retail, however i am not 100% that this is the one to use as i bought it through Virgin Mobile (UK).
Hangouts should work just fine. Strange.

Hi, I saw above post and happy to read that your problem is solved so I writting with my problem on your post, just getting hope that mine will work too.

My issue is; my Moto Razr i is just stuck on '' Android is upgrading '' than shows ''Starting Apps'' thn nothing happen n same things repeats ... couple of hours back it was saying ''finishing boot'' also but now it is just giving this error '' Android is upgrading '' than shows ''Starting Apps'' thn nothing happen n same things repeats
Please I want to request if you are about to guide anything in tough language please consider that I am completely unknown to all the setups and stuff... just if you can help sharing step by step process and also post specific link/software to download (if needed) and how to download and other details in simple guidance plz plz plz.
One more point I tried to chat with Motorola chat service and they suggested me to power off it first but i m pressing vol- and vol + and power button but phone is quickly restarting on its own... i m even unable to go on boot as they suggested me to do so.
Thanks a lot to ''my upcoming angel'' in advance

Im having the same issue described on this thread.
My phone doesnt start, it stays at the logo screen. I've tried to recover, factory reset and nothing worked. I have access to the (AP)fastboot screen.
Later then i saw this thread, i've did everything as described at your tutorial, tried all the versions of the RSD Lite (6.1.4, 6.1.5, 6.1.6), it cant detect my phone.
I've tried in two different PCs, tons of different USB ports, running as administrator, compatibility mode...the PC tells me that the USB is connected, but the RSD Lite doesnt recognise it.
I've tried using these two options of motorola drivers:
- motohelper_2.1.40_driver_5.5.0.exe (that i found at your post)
- MotorolaDeviceManager_2.4.5.exe (found another similar tutorial on the internet)
Am i missing something?
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Yep. Thats exactly what i did.
I tried only using Windows 8.1. Is it compatible?
I will test on a win7 PC later.
UPDATE:
Worked RSD Lite on Win7, it found my phone. I belive RSD Lite doesnt work on Win 8.1 (at least on my PC and notebook).
I believe my firmware version is this one:
Android 4.1.2 Blur_Version.982.50.29002.XT890.Vivo.en.BR Vivo Brasil 537.6 MiB
Can i use the Retail version without problems? (this one: Android 4.1.2 Blur_Version.982.50.29.XT890.Brasil.en.BR Retail Brasil 532.8 MiB)
Thanks!
Finally got my phone working again!
I got it running RSD Lite 6.1.6 on Win 7 and used the same Firmware version that i had (in my case: Android 4.1.2 Blur_Version.982.50.29002.XT890.Vivo.en.BR Vivo Brasil 537.6 MiB), not the Retail one.
Also used the MotorolaDeviceManager_2.4.5.exe that i got from Motorola website.
My phone now is up and running like charm, no apps or configs lost, everything seems perfect (and also a little bit faster). Not sure what caused my issue, did nothing but normal use.
I hope everyone with the same problem can find this easy solution and follow the right steps (and maybe avoid Win8 to do the process).
Thank you guys for all the information :good:!
Good it is solved. It can happen to anyone. Just a small coruption or miss configuration can take out the android system. Luckily this almost never happens and u were just unfortunate.
