There is no direct way to move your apps to SD card.
You need to be rooted in order to move apps to SD. Use Folder mount or similar apps to move apps to SD
Hi
Im rooted and I know about FolderMount, but that doesnt move the app. How can I really move apps to external sd?
Thank you

first you should root your phone,i recommend using towelroot.
once you gain root access you should partition your sdcard and add a second primary partiton with ext4 format(set your device's usb mode to mass storage mode and connect it to pc,using minitool partiton wizard is recommended.this way you wont lose data on your sdcard)
i have created a 4gb partiton on my 32gb microsd but you can choose the right partition size according to how much data you want to move(detailed info about the process described in the Link2SD thread)
then you can install Link2SD (free) from the link below, this app can move application file,dalvik-cache and library files.internal data such as downloaded game data can be moved but you need to buy the pro version(it's better to use FolderMount for moving internal data to avoid running out of free space in your microsd's second partiton).

hello, I appreciate this, but something goes wrong with my xperia zr, I made the partition, then reboot, and start the Link2SD again, then it seems to work because it asked me to select the partition, the menu to select was like ext2, ext3, ext4, fat32, etc, then I choosed ext4.
immediately it asked to reboot, but now I have a constantly loop... do you know how can I fix this? thanks so much.

Remove the microsd card and turn on your phone.go to settings>about phone tap several times on Build Number until it says You're a developer now.then go back to the settings>developer options and enable USB Debugging .
now in your pc go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...b-definitive-root-remount-reboot-fix-t2317432
Download the windows installer, connect your phone to pc extract the zip file, run the installer and follow the on screen instructions.after finishing the install you can turn off your phone and insert your microsd card and turn off developer options in settings.

you're welcome our xperia zr does not support the Move to SD feature so when you tap an application in Link2SD and select Move to SD card you see errors.
so this is how you move apps to the second partition of your sdcard:
In Link2SD tap the application you want to move. then at the bottom of screen there is a Create Link button, tap it.
now you can choose the application items to move.you can check all of the available checkboxes or you can choose the ones you wish to move.
when you're finished click OK and Link2SD will link (or in other words move) the application files to sdcard.
if you want to unlink an application from sdcard, select Remove link in application page and Link2SD moves back the application files to internal storage of the phone.
you can always see the free space on the sdcard's second partition by taping Storage info in main window of Link2SD.
thank you bro but I don't have a PayPal account :highfive: let me know if you have any other questions
I just select all the apps and then choose "create link" when the process finished my Xperia ZR just fly! I get the speed back.
I tried to unlock other features buying the app, but it didn't unlock, I try rebooting but the app stills the same.
Thanks again for your big help ?

Hey guys I have read several posts were people are having issues with some Roms with sense 3.0,etc.
This guide should help those experiencing the following issues:
1) Have apps on your sd card and icons for those apps on one of your home screens but when you reboot your phone the icons disappear or change to the green standard app icon. icon may or may not still open the app.
2) Mount SD card to a PC while the phone is on. After disconnecting it, the phone shows a message on the screen for preparing SD and afterward, the SD card can be browsed. However, apps that have been moved to SD do not show up in the app tray until the phone is restarted.
Important before doing any of this please note this process can render your SD card useless if you make a mistake. Please follow all steps completely and know that I am not responsible if you mess up your sd card
This process is done from your pc not phone! Things you will need:
1) your Incredible
2) Your micro SD card
3) A micro SD to SD card adapter - this if your dont know=

4) computer im using windows xp
Here is what you should try:
1) Download Link2sd from the android market. Don't open it just yet your phone is not ready.
2) From your pc download Minitool partition wizard for your appropriate system. Install the wizard by following the instructions that appear when you download it. At the end it will ask to create a desktop icon check yes so you can find it easy.
3)Turn off your incredible and remove the micro SD card and place it in the adapter. Plug it into your PC.
4) create a new folder on your desktop and name it "sdbackup" or whatever you would like just remember were it is. Copy the entire contents of your micro sd card to the sdbackup folder you just created. This may take a while depending on the amount of files you have.
5) after backing up your sd card. Open the minitool partition wizard. You should see your sd card. Caution do not do anything with your c drive or any other drives listed under disk 1 Mine is under disk 2 labeled D:E1292
6) click on your sd card. In the left pane of the wizard choose format partition. choose FAT32 as your file system and leave cluster size and label blank. click ok.
7) click your sd card. In the left pane again of the wizard choose move/resize partition. On the window that pops up click partition size. uncheck the use extended data protection mode. type in the amount of megabytes or gigabytes you want your sd card regular storage area to be. In this guide im using a 1gb sd card. I typed in 700 to create a 700 mb regular area. Leave all other boxes alone. So if you have say an 8gb card i would type 7000 to give you roughly 7gb main. click ok. you should now see your main sd card and another one below it now with a *as its name.
first
second
third new partition created
8) ok almost there: Now on the new unallocated partition we just created ( one with the star as its name) click on it. At the top of the wizard click create. You will get a message saying the new created partition cannot be used in windows...... just click yes to continue. In the window that pops up pay attention click create as and select primary! click file system and select Ext3! Leave all other boxes etc alone. You will see the partition size that will be created. click ok.
message you will get:
Creating the partition:
9) Ok here we go.... In the top left of the wizard you should see a check mark that says apply..... Click it! You will get a message saying apply pending changes, disable power savers etc... click yes to continue.. do not let screen saver come on after this and do not allow computer to "sleep". Let the wizard do its thing. This can take some time depending on your system, sizes, etc. You get a dialog box to let you know whats going on. When the wizard finishes you will get a message saying apply all pending changes successful. Click ok...
You can exit the wizard now.
The wizard dialog box when you click the check mark..
10) place all your files back on your sd card. Find the folder you created with your sd backup in it. Select all files and copy them back to your sd card. Dont worry about the second partition as windows will only see the first FAT32 one.
Thats the partition link2sd needs now to set up link2sd:
1) place your SD card back in your incredible and reboot.
2) find your link2sd app you downloaded and open it. The program will load. A box will appear that instructs you to select the file system type of your second partition. Select Ext3!
3) Link2sd will do a few things and ask for superuser permissions.. When this box pops up click remember on superuser permissions!
4) Link2sd will tell you the scipt to mount the second partition was flashed (installed),etc.
5) it will then tell you to restart your phone to mount the second partition. Just do a normal reboot!
6) once the phone has rebooted go back and open link2sd again. You should get a whats new box with the changes to link2sd.
7) to check just to make sure it worked click menu/storage info it should look something like this.
Now you can use link2sd!
Enjoy please say thanks if I helped. I will try to answer any questions you have. This may be possible to do while the sd card is in the phone with it attached to computer but I did not chance this so wont be able to help in that area.
Yay!

Your welcome just trying to do my part lol.
Not to be thick, but I believe I have run Partition Magic on other drives (for other than Android use). Can't you repartition the card on the fly (using the PC) without a complete reformat?
May be possible with this wizard. Skip the format step and everything else should go normal. One would start from the move/resise step. After editing what you want I however can't recall if this particular widget will format both when you apply changes. I'll look into it when I get some free time.
I put the backup and format step in just to make sure things go smooth. It should work without that first format tho...
Lost \emmc mount to PC
Eraste -
I found your guide tremendously helpful and was able to set up the ext3 partition without a problem.
Thing is, I cannot mount \emmc to PC, and I used to be able to.
I didn't lose it after doing this; I lost it on a prior ROM (Nils Business Gingersense 2.1/3.0 v3.0) after flashing a new kernel. After that, nothing I did, old nandroids, reflashing, restored it.
Now I'm on McSense 2.4 which is fairly close to stock OTA Gingerbread for the Incredible, and I have Links2SD running fine, and I have SD card mount, but I still don't seem to be able to get emmc to mount.
Any suggestions?
EDIT - Okay, it's 19 days later, I've wiped the system several times, installed two other ROM's ran Jermaine's/Tiny's ext4 mod which moves \data\data to ext4 and just plugged my Incredible back into the PC for the first time on this particular combination of ROM's and mods and, lookit that, mount to emmc has spontaneously returned. I'll never figure this one out. (Except that ext3 is still there, but Link2SD doesn't have anything linked at all right now, because I don't need the space without a 150mb limitation on \data\data on a Sense 1.0 ROM.

try the "ext2" format option.. as all devices are compatible with it
hope that helps!!
you should decrease the size of the 2nd part because file store in there is so little, the main is half full
now that i have 2nd partition and link2sd, where should i start? i mean where should my app stored before creating link? and there are 3 files to be link, wich to be link?
thankss bro this very usefull ......nice:highfive:
Thanks for the guide, although i have trouble installing. Once I open link2sd (ext3 partition created n all) i select ext3 as secondary partition and i get "script cannot be installed" error, mount:mounting/dev//block/vold/179:2 on data/sdext2 failed: Device or resource busy
Any suggestions please?
Edit:solved by wiping and reformatting ext partition on pc
is there a way to manually do what link2sd does
like via shell
BM first.. will try it later after i buy 16GB SD.. thanks
Big thanks!! wonderful guide!
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to change roms and for some reason the recovery says that the sdcard cannot be mounted.
I have tried using darkyrom ressurection and it works, but after i try flashing slimbean it flashes the kernel and then stops recognizing the sdcard.
I don't know if this is a physical problem (sdcard broken or something), or a software problem.
If anyone knows how this can be fixed I would be very gratefull.
If you can mount it on your computer, see what format it is in. Fat or Fat32 ?

Copy everything off of it. Then do a full format (non quick). Could take 30min. Then flash to stock 2.3.x with Odin using 512 pit. Then flash a kernel through Odin, and flash the Rom you want from there.

I know my question isn`t exactly about mounting the sd card, but since it involves memory, I believe this thread could be useful.
I updated my Galaxy S to Nightly`s CM10 4.1.2 and since then have been having major issues with storage.
I have a 32gb sd card which to me appears totally unused, because I try to take pictures on the camera, and it simply won`t allow me `cause it says I do not have any space available, but this is what my phone shows me:
Internal Storage
Total Space 1.48GB
Apps 361MB
Available 1.15GB
USB Storage
Total Space 5.78GB
Apps 182MB
Pictures Video 2.14GB
Downloads 432MB
Available 2.41MB
SD Card
Total Space 29.87GB
Available 28.62GB
I`ve only been having these problems after updating to CM10, before I had a stock android 2.3!
To be very honest I do not know what the USB storage stands for, but I think my phone could cleverly use the 32GB I left free for my stuff!
Any help please on how to have available space on my phone again so I can continue taking pictures and download normally?
Many thanks

i9000 has 8 GB internal SD which is divided into Internal Storage and USB storage. SD Card is your external SD.
Seems that the most space of your USB storage is used to store Pictures and Videos.
There is no option to change camera target storage in CM10, but could you just move your pics to SD card?
I hope that the option of choosing camera storage will be there in the future - I think they had it on CM9.
Did you update with wipe, wipe dalvik and wipe cache?
Thanks a lot for the explanation!
I believe I didn't do the wipe dalvik cache, should I try doing it?
I tried transferring my pics to the SD but couldn't there is no option, I'll try doing it via file explorer!

Gladly the SD card is readable and I just plugged the phone to the computer and copied the dcim folder to the SD card, the only problem is that I cannot see this "album" on the image gallery. Any hints?
Problem solved, just changed the folder name and it became visible. Just didn`t like it because I had to do it manually, is there a way to make my pictures and apps to be honest, go directly to the sd card other than the internal storage? I bought and class 10 sd card so that it would have fast access and I wouldn`t have to worry about backing up stuff from the internal to the external all the time.

There's no option in cm10 to choose picture target save location. Maybe It'll be available in later releases.
hello, I have also a problem with the external SD card - it can be somewhat connected with this.
A while ago I didn't have a CD rom or an USB to install windows on my PC and I thought I could use the SD card while it's in the phone as an USB device to install windows from it. During the format process, it gave an error and now it says it's broken when trying to acces from the phone. I don't have a SD converter, to put it directly in the PC, but I tried to format it from the phone and from Windows (while in the phone), but nothing works.
Can I do something or it's broken forever?
Is the Read-only switch on your SD off?

Alright, so I've rooted and flashed CWM but when doing backups in
Nandroid and Titanium both stored in on my internal memory, while I want it on my SD card.
SD card: 32GB, FAT32(one partition), tried to make two FAT32 partitions but the second was not detected by both Windows pc and phone.
Phone sees my internal storage as "sdcard0" while it sees my sd card as "extSDCard"
1)Should I use App2SD(they changed it's name to App MIGR) or Link2SD to move apps to SD?
I've got most things covered for Link2SD but I still don't understand the init.d support; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087497
2)While the Nandroid backup is pretty much organised, Titanium backup has like dozens of files, which am I supposed to choose if I wanted to restore my Titanium backup ?( I did the Backup new user+system apps & newer versions batch only.)(Nandroid didn't even detect my SD card while backing up.)
In cwm choose "backup and restore" / "backup to external sdcard" and your backups will be put in clockworkmod-folder on external sd.
For titanium backup you have to set location for backups to be on your external.
Have a look in titanium settings to change the default path.
I use derectorybind to bind the whole android folder to external.
Works great!

Both faria and benzrom (including drom) have init.d support. Just follow the guide to setup ext4 partition and Linux swap partition and link2sd should run fine.

Got both external options to work for now.
Did u mean u bind the whole RAM or just the internal storage. Does it warn you when some apps i.e. widgets can't be moved(before it's broken) or doesn't it have that limit like Link2SD ? (Am still hestitating to use it;
-App2SD has this note:"Move apps function may not work on your devcie as manufacture removes the function of moving apps to SD from Android system" don't know whether we have that.
-Link2SD has sort of difficult requirements before install.
-DirectoryBind; Because many issues where posted by members.

Directorybind has nothing to do with ram. You just symlink appdata from "/sdcard/android" to your external to get more internal space
Never had any problems with it and im using it on three different devices.

Got confused; I meant system ROM, since I just saw ~260MB left, but I suppose I made a mistake cause the system saves data to my internal storage too, am I right... o.0 ?
What are the differences between DirectoryBind, App MGR and Link2SD anyways?

How much space for;
FAT32 partition
Ext4 partition
Swap partition
and why on a 32GB SD card, the values.
The fat32 can be any size, this is your normal sd card data that you can use on your pc (music, videos, pics etc).
Ext4 should be however many apps sizes you want. Like if you have a lot of play store downloaded then set this as big as you think you need but save some space for linux swap.
Linux swap should be minimum 300mb (according to the guide), this is like a bit of extra ram incase your system ram gets full. Mine works fine with 800mb.
If you're looking for an example of what you could set, here :
Fat32 : 15gb
Ext4 : 15gb
Linux swap : 1gb
They could work fine is not very complicated unless I'm wrong. Study the guide well and read other people's posts on there too.

Got confused; I meant system ROM, since I just saw ~260MB left, but I suppose I made a mistake cause the system saves data to my internal storage too, am I right... o.0 ?
What are the differences between DirectoryBind, App MGR and Link2SD anyways?
How much space for;
FAT32 partition
Ext4 partition
Swap partition
and why on a 32GB SD card, the values.

Yes 260mb is left on your system partition.
Installed apps goes to "/data" = internal storage.
Does our phone/kernel support Ext4 ?

sure it does....if u succeed in installing the Link2Sd the first option is to select ext 2,ext 3 or ext 4 to link it.....this might help on the init.d support...pretty easy actually...

I paid for Link2SD Pro but I've had some problems with it. When I contact the developer, Bulant, he sometimes responds but other times I get no reply.
Have you tried using both? What do you think of AppMgr? What about Link2SD?
I got my Sony Xperia ZR and was unable to move any of my apps to SD card. My SD card is currently working fine.THE only problem I am getting is that I the "move to sd card" button is not there. My ZR is updated into 4.4 kitkat and is rooted already. I downloaded the AppMgr III and it still doesn't work.I also tried foldermount and I can transfer apps data to sd card but after then my apps stop working and show an error message.please help if anyone knows how to fix it.
On foldermount make sure to "pin" the apps, the ?pin should be green like the screenshot:

It's an app called Foldermount, you can use it to "redirect" internal folders to your external SD card so you can have more space: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=es_419 It requires root

Make sure you gave the app root access. Try re-installing it from playstore.
It's Not working!tell me can I move apps to sd if I install custom rom in my phone or can I change the instalation direction

Try the following and then use Foldermount. It will fix the issue. :good:

Thanks a lot.my phone's rebooting problem has been fixed but the moving apps to sd card didn't fix Yet.can you please tell me how to do that?
As far as I understand, the Xperia ZR does not support this. Period. Something to do with the fact that it's internal storage is actually an external that's built into the phone and emulated to act as the internal. It might even be a limitation of KitKat, but I don't think that's likely. Your best bet is Link2SD (preferrably pro) for regular apps and games, and FolderMount for apps with obb files like Injustice, Gameloft games, etc. Link2SD can be somewhat confusing though, though it's a little easier if you have some basic experience with Linux or partitioning hard disks. I understand that there are some apps that do what Link2SD does, but automates everything and keeps it simple (I think simple2ext might be an example of this, not sure though). Native app2sd and AppsMgrIII and the like are out of the question, though.

Check the following tutorial. I am using Folder mount to move obb files to Sd card. Working fine in all stock firmware.

It does support it, at least for me. Maybe because I have installed the "KitKat SD Card Full Access" module on Xposed? that and foldermount makes a great combo.
Really? Damn. Partitioned my SD card for nothing. I'm not really sure what Xposed is; I guess I'm going to go find a tutorial for it now. Thanks for the heads up.
P.S. Why would you need foldermount if you have native apps2sd? Doesn't the native move obb files?

Xposed Framework Is really useful and can be a really great complement in some roms (like the Stock one); It let you change the behavior of the system and apps without touching any APKs; so for example, I use it to force Inmersive Mode on apps that doesn't have this feature (I use it for games mostly, so I play at full screen ) and also I have the module named Kitkat SD Card full acces, that itself doesn't let me move apps to the SD, but if I understand correctly, this one let non-system apps gain acces to the SD Card (sdcard1).
I still can't move apps to the SD with that (from settings, also tried App2SD and link2sd and said that there was a problem because storage is being emulated) That's why I need to use FoulderMount and it's simple. select the source folder to mount (from Emulated/0 or sdcard0) and then thee destination folder (sdcard1/[whateverthenameofthefolderis]/) and that's it. there are tutorials (better explained) on how to use it too.

If you're happy using Foldermount, then I suggest you don't bother with Link2SD. Partitioning an SD card is annoying and often messy. Also, it's not very flexible. You can't use any free space in the second partition for storage, which is just wasteful. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant app, and a very clever workaround for the problem, but it's not a perfect solution.

Oh, I see. So there's no way to get the native, Android inbuilt app2sd? Bummer.
The Xposed framework looks very interesting, to say the least. After taking a look, I've decided to go back to stock and just use this for my tweaks and such. How long I'll keep it like that, I don't know, but I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks for explaining it to me.
Hi All,
I currently am using a stock D415 LG L90 (Running Lollipop). I have no intention of rooting anytime soon, but my internal memory keeps getting full from multiple apps I have downloaded. I have a 32GB SD Card which is only using half of its capacity. I currently have it set to save all images and video captured to be stored onto the SD Card.
In my previous phones, I was easily able to dedicate my SD card as my primary source of storage, thus never having to run into the issue of having no memory and what not. Are there any solutions like these available?
I am open to rooting, I am kind of picky of not voiding the warranty as I have only had the phone for 10 months, but if rooting is my only option, I am willing to go ahead and do so.
Thanks All!
Uh, 94 views and no response? I am assuming I am the only person here with this issue?
Unfortunately the only way is to root and use Link2SD which is a paid application. You'll also have to partition your microSD card to have a second ext2/ext3 partition.
You probably have apps such as Whatsapp that refuses to store media files in external SD, I suggest you to backup the media folders to your external SD regularly.
I was facing the same problem with some apps, e.g. I have OALD and this app downloads a huge 450MB database file and stores in the internal SD that cannot be moved to external SD, I had to use Link2SD to move this kind of files to my ext3 partition in the external storage.
Since Android 4.3 we have this limitation, some apps cannot save data in the external storage. In v10 (kitkat) we had an option to switch the internal SD to external SD but it was a very intrusive modification with exposed framework and required unlock bootloader and root.

That is a real bummer, and big question mark as to why this kind of functionality is not open for the user to decide how to allocate memory... Are there specific ROM's that allow this instead?
I have downloaded Link2SD, are there proper tutorials on here on how to get root access on this phone?
It's for security reasons why android don't let some type of data to be saved on external microSD - fat32 doesn't support Unix file permissions, also, some apps such as Whatsapp was designed this way (they propably could save data in external SD, but somewhy they decided to not). In phones with 32 and 64GB this isn't really a problem, but even 16GB can be problematic for heavy users that likes to carry massive data in the phone.
To root, If Purpledrake (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000) don't work, your only hope is KingRoot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461). If you use the latter one, I suggest to immediately switch KingUser to SuperSU.

I went over and tried KingRoot, it ended up working. My question is - Which one is better? If I used KingRoot, what things should I be aware of dealing with this specific root method?
Otherwise, my phone is now rooted. I am going to try and partition my MicroSD card and see if I can see some success with the entire Link2SD method.
Use KingRoot, then replace with supersu: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html
I unlocked my 410hn bootloader so I root directly from supersu flashable zip from twrp.
Today I noticed something interesting, do you use gmail app? I don't mean the google email account, I mean the app. If yes, take a look into your account settings configured in the app, it's set to sync all e-mails and attachments from the last 30 days, for this reason gmail was eating over 1GB of my internal memory, I configured to NOT sync anything (it's like saving stuff for offline read) and NOT download/load images automatically.
I went from 400MB of free space to almost 3GB. Had to clear app data first to make a clean start in the app and quick turn off those settings or it's going to download all over again, do you ever wonder why in the first run gmail takes a lot of time to sync? That's the reason, it's downloading your stuff from the last 30 days from every email account.
Yes I too have noticed that but when I try to open my gmail Google Play services force closes any idea on a solution to the problem
