Wondering. Does Tizen increase battery life on the GG1.
Update. Question was asked and answered on Sammobile - YES!
Anyone know for WatchStyler faces can be used with the Tizen update?

Does it look like the update will come through gear manager or will it be a kies flash required?

They are figuring ecerything out to let you flash through kies... Cause now you have to seperate programs. 1 to change the bootloader for Android to Tizen and the normal Odin to flash the ROM itself.. As this is to difficult for normal users. They figuring our how to do thia through Kies

Thanks for the heads up, nice leaked info! however, android for life! hehehe
Now they just need to port Android to the Gear 2!

Latest version of watchstyler (v1.2) has support for gear 2, so you'd assume the answer is yes
This is too bad. Seems like getting 4.4 and Android Wear are out the window at this point unless someone can compile AOSP for the Gear.
Or a dedicated and talented developer ports android wear to our gear, just like they do with cell phones. Hopefully our gear are not hardware limited to run wear in the future.

I'm surprised there's not more talk about getting android wear on the original gear. It's far exceeds the hardware requirements of android wear and already comes with android. Not only that, but it uses the components from some flagship Samsung mobile phones. CPU-GPU included, oh and if anyone says it's because it's not possible make a new android version run an old android device. Look at the original galaxy s with jelly bean.

i think that the problem of android wear is that there are no real sources, you have the test build images, but no clean sources to start a new rom from scratch like for aosp
Am I correct in assuming that upgrading to tizen will break connectivity with non touch wizz phones? I'm pairing my original galaxy note with aokp to my gear with great results. I would love to have the battery savings that tizen offers but it would be useless if I can't connect to my phone..
Also does anyone know if tizen is open source? Meaning that somebody talented would be able to make it work with unsupported phones..

actually not, it seems that guys with gear 2 are connecting theirs too with non touchwizz phones ! I'm not sure but I think they managed even notifications.
Can anyone confirm that you can flash the bootloader back from Tizen to android?
No more apps from Google Play, goodbye Tasker! goodbye gear
if someone can leak the version of tizen that's doing the rounds at Samsung atm then we could theoreticly flash to and back from tizen and android
atm according to rumour there is a version getting testing but in involves manual flashing ,in 2 parts, the bootloader and the system
if this is the case ,then its possible to flash back from tizen ,
but also according to rumour, they don't want to release any firmwares that's not easy enough to do in kies or odin to a "average user"
I would love the tizen available now just to test it
come on leak it

Hello,
It seems that Galaxy Gear will be update with"Tizen".What do you think about this?: Confus:http://www.androidpit.fr/samsung-galaxy-gear-tizen-mise-a-jour
If I want Tizen but I dont I will make a move to Gear 2, so in my case I will stay with my beautiful and good GG + null_, perfect combination!
it may be greatest thing ever or i may stay on Android for awhile. curious to see what fomey will do with it.
cool thing is that i just read an article where there is already a 1 CLICK port of Android apk's to run on Tizen so with this thrown into the mix it may be i update sooner than i expect.

here is the link.
i doubt it will take others long to duplicate this process. when/if Tizen grows that price tag will disappear but good to know it already exist.
If you can port Android to Tizen for $5000 ....
Is it not just wrapping the app in a virtual machine, there be a lot of over head.
Some apps many apps have very small audience nobody pay $5000 to port them.

There are lots of current models on store shelves. They might sell a few more if buyers knew about an update, especially if it delivers longer battery life.
I don't think so.
if you can shoehorn in the Null Rom now on the hardware you should be able to do it even if Samsung rolls out Tizen. If it works on the hardware now it will work on the hardware later.
My question is, can we get Android on the Gear 2 or Gear Neo?

This article does imply that galaxy gear will remain a separate, isolated, product.
I'm guessing if a Tizen update is offered, it will be well after the gear2 is released. And apps that utilize the heart rate sensor or remote control of the newer gears, will need to be modified, or filtered out for the gg.

@raiu
I think because it is not even older as 5 month of the release ? And Samsung often supports the products until 2 years it think.
the accu will be improved, so it is better i dont like to charge my gear ever 3-4 day :/

So I bought a Neo and played around with it on my work Note 3. It has fair amount of apps. Well today I bought a S5 Active. I moved my Neo over to it (requires reseting it.) and got gear manager installed. Surprise to me... It seems even though things like the clock face is an app that runs on the phone if the developer doesn't select that it works with a phone you can't use it. Which should be a simple change for most things however it doesn't seem that developers update their Samsung store apps. For the S5 active there are only a handful of apps even though I am sure 99% all the apps would work if the dev would click the "it works with an s5 active"
After dealing with Samsung support (or the lack of it) I tried to get on the Samsung app store webpage. It seems they are having server errors so it was been working like crap. I was kind of able to get contacts for a couple of the app dev's to ask that they update their app to work with the S5 active. Samsung app store doesn't provide contact information unless the dev adds it. One of the devs linked to his google+ page. Which showed he is working to get the same app with improvements to work on android wear.
This got me thinking. Who is going to mess with this crappy half baked Samsung store with Google coming out with Wear? I'd guess we won't see anyone making new Apps for the tizen watches, they don't even update it to work with new phones it will run on with no changes...
I just got the Neo and I am on the fence of returning it. I figured I could get by with apps I had on the Note 3 until someone got a Wear rom for it. With the lack of apps when paired with the s5 I am not impressed at all and after my research today I am liking it less. I got it over the wear because it was only 150bucks vs 225, it has a speaker and IR blaster and Android wear is lacking in features (sure to change in 6 months to a year). I figured by the time wear got up to speed there would be a rom. Thinking about it some I am doubtful, I think the speaker and IR blaster (camera if it is a gear 2) will prevent it from ever happening. None of the wear watches have these so I'd guess there isn't low level support.
I guess I need to return it and wait for the 360 come out.
I had the same problem with my active. I modified the build prop to identify my device as a regular s5 and have all the apps again.

A simple answer would have been more beneficial instead of what ever that is you regurgitated from whatever mind you have. I tried Google and had no success. I assumed the best forum out there would get me an accurate answer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQlxE8FE5cw this is gear 1 running tizen if your gear don't look like this then is running android simple at that
I understand you frustration. I too couldn't find anywhere exactly how to check the OS on the gear. Then I found the website for the stock roms and learnt. If your gear is running Software version V700XXUBNC1 or older, it is running Android 4.2.2. If your Software version is V700XXUCNE9 or V700XXECNF1 or V700XXUCNK1, then its running Tizen OS. Hope this helps.
Thanks both of you. I'm android.
So NA9 is android? And witch one is better I just got this a day or so ago and lost on it.

Hi, does the above bolded sentence mean Android Wear, or actually full Android?
I am asking because I have a Gear S (Tizen) and came to find out if anyone managed to put full Android on the Gear S.
My second option would be to get a Gear 1, which , from what I read, can be flashed with android, but, again, not sure if that means Android Wear or Android.
I am missing a few apps I'd like to use in stand-alone mode without a phone, that are not available on Tizen, so that's why I am looking to get either a second Gear if I can flash full Android on it, or flash my current one to Android when I upgrade it, of that's possible, of course.
Thanks!
It is not android wear. It is also not full android. But you can get full android if you flash with the null rom. However, the Gear S is Tizen. The above post is for the first Gear watch.
Mine is V700XXUBNA6. Tizen or Android? I just got a gear manager update yesterday. My phone is 100% stock. If my watch is Android why is it Android. I thought Samsung pushed Tizen? Thanks
... and why not ?
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-V700
Sorry but I don't follow links to sites I don't know. What are you saying? I'm not looking for tizen if that is what you thought. Just asking why it wasn't pushed to my phone.

Oh hey, so they finally went somewhere with that project! I used to keep track of the many developers who have tried over the years, good to see that someone was finally able to pull it off.
How do you like it so far?
Is it worth the transition and side effects?
The side effects are not that bad you have to force a weather card to keep the open gl driver running so that the faces work

That's not to bad, but what about the no mic thing? Since android wear is big on "Ok Google" has that caused any limitations??
I scanned through the thread and so far it looks amazing!! That's my only concern, I really want to try this, but I have custom roms on my other samsung devices that made the IR blaster useless as well lol and I currently don't own a remote for my room.

does anyone have a link or some direction on the where to get the windows drivers for this. i have flashed stuff and used odin for years and i cant get windows to read this in download mode no matter what. i tried tizen and android sdk, installed samsung phone drivers, installed and uninstalled kies. im at a loss. im am using vm on mac but never had an issue with any samsung products. might be a tizen thing.
So, does this mean I can have full use of my neo without the need for a TW rom? I detest TouchWiz
The answer is yes!
Can this be used on other devices as well? I'm going to be moving from a note 3 to a moto x at upgrade and would like to be able to use the neo 2 with it.
