I'm planning on getting this and a slickwrap skin, since the bumper does nothing to protect the metal surface.
Red and Gold
Heres the red and the gold on gunmetal. If the red looks a little pinkish its because it is. I didn't see it on OP's photos because he doesn't have a picture from that particular angle but mine are from LoveMei and has the words on the left side of the frame. It feels like the lettering is debossed so I think it might be acid etched. Kinda tacky and might be an issue with some of you.
How do these bumpers feel in the hand? Does it feel grippier or more slick?
What would you say are the protective qualities of the case? Or is it purely aesthetic?

Its anodized aluminum, so it feels like about the same grippiness as stock. To me it feels like its mostly aesthetic, the only thing i see it protecting is the machined edge between the sides and the screen, which i probably put a few scratches in to while putting the bumper on so...mostly aesthetic.

It shouldn't effect it at all. The "metal" bumper just surrounds more metal where it wouldn't receive those signals anyway.

Hi,
Does anyone know if this kind of metal bumper would protect the phone from drops ? From what i see on the pictures it is really thin, when the phone it put on a table does the back of the phone has a contact with it or only the bumper ?
For example i saw that the metal bumper from DevilCase for the HTC One seems to protect from drops based on how it was built (in case of a drop, the back of the phone shouldn't have a contact with the floor, only the bumper would) : http://www.amazon.com/DevilCase-HTC-M7-Aluminum-Protective/dp/B00D6OGPU6
Btw the devilcase bumper should be release for HTC One M8 on June.
Mainly the side. If your phone drops and lands flat on its back, it would still get scratched. There is not much protection to the back and some on the front glass. You should with a full case if that's what you need. The side of my phone got scratched pretty easily when I dropped it one time. I didnt go with a full case because that would defeat the purpose of having an all aluminum body.
The slide of your phone got scratched even with or without the bumper ?
Yes that's also my point, i'm trying to see if there is a case that would allow to keep the all aluminium body and also provide some protection too, hard choice ...
Side protection is pretty good. The case fits snug. I'm not worried about that at all.
How does the edge feel? I'm thinking of getting one like this just because I'm starting to dislike the rounded, soft edges of the phone when it's naked. Is it a nice corner ala iphone 5 or is it about as round as stock?
Also does it interfere much with the volume rocker?
i used the devil bumper case !
it needs 4 screws so i kinda feel secure,
but the case im using barely have any kind of protection to the device although it increases its beauty
If you sand the tapered sides of bumper case it will look more premium, I did it with my M7's bumper case.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I think the aluminium case gives good screen protection, but although it is reasonably low profile the few millimetres each side do seem to make the Note 2 feel much bigger. I personally don't think it's the most elegant case, they look OK from the front, but the back doesn't seem to follow the flow of the stock battery case too well.
Don't get me wrong, the phone fits in perfectly without any movement but not my cup of tea. I lose one bar on the phone signal when the case is on, NFC is fine.
Possibly a like or hate accessory!
Thanks for all the replies. That was my main concern. I wanted a metal bumper case that has a slight rise to protect the camera lens. I'm going to buy a ballistic 3 layer protection case since GN2 can be easily damage even at waist height drop.
Why ballistic? Because its relatively cheap, unlike otterbox and offers awesome drop protection. Had one for E4GT and money worth spending.
Thanks again.

i use that one. slight raises on the front and back to protect the camera. It adds a little weight to the phone but its not unbearable. I actually like it. I also got the armror suit military shield screen and back protector. Screen protector was not compatible with the case, cause when I removed the phone from the case, the sliding portion of the front peeled the screen protector off. and the added thickness of the armorsuit full body protector makes it very snug in the case. probably the reason why it the screen protector peeled off as I was trying to remove it.

If theres any UK users in this thread that wants a black aluminium bumper for free then let me know and PM me your address. I'd buy one, but I live in an area where I get 2-3 bars. That case would put me into permanent roam.
I don't think it is much different than the gs2 model, as it's just a simple 2-piece frame. Somebody - who ridiculously tries to assemble it with one hand, while shooting the video with the other - posted a Youtube video. I cannot paste the link as I'm a new member.

doesnt really look like a good design.
the holes around the headphone jack and the microusb port seem to be smaller than the holes in my ebay bumper case. given that my ebay bumper case stops me from using a lot of headphone cables and microUSB cables, i would assume this case would be downright silly for the price.
I don't like it....
.I bought this case for s II and note...but design for note 2 is failed
Metal bumpers for Note 2 are terrible designed because Note 2 is too curvy compare to other phones and the bumpers usually does not fill in the gaps of the curve back, and usually at the same level without raised edges to protect the back from scratching too.
A no no for me since I tried with a cheap bumper case from eBay

Sorry guys, maybe I don't get this, but wouldn't any metal bumper case be only for looks and not protection? Edges of the phone, when dropped, are the most vulnerable points, and slapping on it a tight fitting metal will just transfer the shock instead of absorbing it to protect the phone. Am I missing something? These bumpers don't look like hollow metal tube with a "crumble zone" and inner soft lining. It looks awesome as hell, original for sure!!! But with additional weight to our phablet and what seems to be like a slick grip-less sides - wouldn't you worry that phone will be even more vulnerable to drop out of your hand/pocket with a higher chance of damage? Of course, I'm looking more from a practical point of view, while missing the whole pimping aspect of it lol!!!

Since the aluminium bumper is mainly one solid piece with a smaller one on top it acts like a strong exoskeleton taking all the force. For me the importamt thing is to have big enough cushion inside in order to avoid getting the phone in direct contact with the metal and also big enough lips to protect the front amd back.

Had a chance to use the DualPro Shine case on the HTC One M8. I like the fact it still gives the M8 that gunmetal metallic look even when covered. Its not the exact same color but its not bad. It gives the M8 a better grip then the actual phone itself. It can take a bit trying to pry the cover off. I did a full review on it if you want to check the link as well.

I have this just not the shine but same thing, just plastic i guess? Actually only complaint i have is there is hardly any grip to it and i have the plastic. If this backing is smoother as it looks in pics i would think the grip would be bad as well if not worse. I'm saying when your hands are sweaty/wet there's no grip, gotta hold on tight with this case!

I just bought this case, and I love it and dislike it. Great quality but if you are looking for complete anti-slip form the OEM design of the phone, this is not the case. It has slipped out of my hand due to the metal twice. I was hoping this wouldn't be the case, but im giving it a week . Overall look and protection is great though.

I had the same case, except in black and gray, not the shine version, but otherwise the same case. Really good protection and fit, phone feels solid in there. But the black one had about zero grip to it as well. It's sort of soft touch coating, but more plastic feeling than rubbery. Also had a slight texture to it. After a week, returned it to the store... Was also considering the shine, but seems like it's just as slippery if not more so. :/
hi everyone,
if anyone has a spare Incipio dual pro shine to get rid of, I'd be glad to exchange it with one of my UAG cases (I can give away both black or transparent versions). Good condition, no trace of use.
PM me if you're interested. Thanks!
I saw earlier that this case I recently got looks very similar to the SUPCASE hybrid bumper case posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706539
Thought I'd post some pictures then and a quick review, since this case is a few bucks cheaper than the SUPCASE after shipping costs and everything, so you guys can get a deal on a preeeeeetty good case. All the cut-outs are where they need to be, the bumper TPU looks glossier than most TPU that are matte, and the HTC One's back looks slick as ever in the clear back window. Can't ask for much more in a case under ten bucks.

Just got this case. So far my favorite case. I have the Hyperion, the cimo, the dot view but so far this is my favorite.
I got this case as well, in black. The top and bottom lips are loose like someone mentioned and quite a bit of dust gets under it . Overall the case looks pretty sleek and the clear back definitely shows off the nice metallic look. However, I feel that the case adds quite a bit of weight to the phone. Maybe I'm just used to the cruzerlite bugdroid cases as I've had on my older phones. Does anyone have both the exact prism and the cruzerlite cases and able to comment on their thoughts?
Ah, thanks for the review. I have the Supcase one and it also has the problem with the top and bottom lips being a little loose. I wonder if these are all the same cases with just different logos slapped on the back? I dunno... I also ordered the amCase deal, on it's way. Curious to see if that one's any better.

I don't think anyone will be better than the other.. If you ask me they are probably all made in the same plant(or few plants) just some are stamped with the individual company logo and some are not. There are also a bunch of the same type of case on ebay with no brand name. I mean a lot of these cases that these companies brand are just generic cases from China.

My cheapo amCase came in today... It's basically the same design as all the others, but the back is a matte frosted plastic which actually makes the phone more awkward to hold, it's a little slippery. Basically the same exact tpu bumper, but mine has slightly more sag at the top and bottom lips. I like the way the glossy Supcase feels... will keep the amCase as a $2 spare, lol.
Just picked one up... Definitely like how it shows off my Amber Gold while protecting my device. I don't like how hard it is to get the phone in and out of the case.

I have this same case in the same color. My only issue with this case is the volume control buttons are a little stiff. I hope that will fix itself when the case gets broken-in. I love how this case shows off the body of the M8 through the clear back.
I like the quality of the side's. Would love an all matte case. All I've found have a matte back with glossy sides.

I've seen one by Griffin, has the matte sides, but a glossy back, lol. Saw it at an unofficial Verizon store, was $24.99, which is obviously a lot for a case like this. The sales guy opened it up for me, the matte sides were actually kind of slippery, no grip to them.
Nice review, thanks. Just worried as people seem to complain about the gap on the top and bottom. Luckily they're cheap so no big loss if I didnt like it
In your opinion, this the best clear case out there?
I can't really say, as I haven't tried all the cases. However, evidence points to this case being generic and is identical to clear cases from other brands. The Exact Prism case is at a good price though, so I would wholly recommend it, despite the looser fit.
Anyone have the white/clear one? I was wondering if the white stains
So I picked this case up a week ago and put it through it's paces so I thought I would share my my experience with it.
Pros:
- Very slim. Adds almost no thickness to the phone
- Offers good scratch protection for the back and the lens of the phone
- Crystal clear
- Offers a bit more grip.
Cons:
- The fit is a little off. When the case is on, there's a little bit of play up and down and every once in a while, you can feel the sides of the case give when you're gripping the phone suggesting that the fitment on the side is a little off.
- Rough edges. I have a tempered glass screen protector on the phone and it helps makes the front of the phone flush with the edges of the case. Even with this, the edges of the case are sharp. The sides aren't particularly noticeable but the cutout for the camera near the top of the phone becomes very apparent when using the phone landscape. MSRP for this case is $25 dollars and at that price range, I believe rounding the edges to make the case feel a little nicer in your hands is not an absurd expectation.
Overall I really like the case. The fitment issues isn't big enough to affect the performance of the case. It snaps on strong and stays on. The fact that there's a bit of flexing annoys me, that's all. My biggest gripe with the case has to be the rough edges. If you could overlook that, this case is a definite winner if you're looking for a sleek clear case to show off and protect the beautiful aluminum finish of the M8.

You can get it from Amazon for cheaper:

I'll post some pictures soon.
I agree it's not as "snug" as other Barely There cases I've had in the past. I wish they would have covered the top and bottom some what though.
I've upgraded now to the Naked Tough which is essentially the Barely There but with a TPU bumper. In fact if the Barely There was just like the hard section of the Naked Tough, it would be perfect.

Thanks for the review. I used to love the Barely There cases, but as you mentioned, the edges are kind of rough and sharp. Too bad.
I agree that the edges are a little on the rough side but my case has no play in it at all. Its almost to tight, which I guess is good expect for when I've had to remove it. I ordered mine from amazon so maybe with it sitting in storage it shrunk?
This has been the best slim case I have found. I only use the case for light protection and grip mostly. not really for protection.

Yeah that's the trade off with these slim cases. You're getting pretty much zero drop protection and only minor cosmetic damage protection. I could deal without drop protection if only the Barely There covered the top and bottom, I'd be happy with just all round cosmetic damage protection from it. Ended up opting for its bigger brother the Naked Tough.

Just got mine. Fits like a glove, no play whatsoever, and the edges don't bother me a bit. I used this case on my S3, and was glad to see it available for this phone.
what is the difference between this case and much cheaper ones in ebay?
with new coupon is 22usd to send to Brazil.

One is made by Case Mate.
The other is made by a Chinese kid in a dingy factory in China for pittance pay and of inferior quality.
You really have to ask!?

I also bought this case and was fully satisfied with it for a while, then the soft touch coating began to peel off. I guess it was my fault, I work in a hospital and clean my phones daily with alcohol. For a long time I've been using spigen ultra fit cases that are also soft touch, and never has the soft touch coating peeled off. On the barely there case it only lasted 3 weeks. Now I forcefully rinsed off almost all the coating. It still works, but it's slippery and looks awfull.

I ordered a Case-Mate Barely There clear too.
The fit is not very tight and the grip isn't so good like from the HTC Translucent Case.
It don't protect the top and bottom sides nor the plugs nor the buttons.
It's very thin and you can see the beautiful brushed metal back of your M8. :good:
Both are made in China.
