I'm not very familiar with this. I've have data (4g lte) connection issues for a while now with my m8.so much so that I'm considering going back to Capts fastboot recovery file just to wipe everything and start over. I'm constantly in a 4G area, but can't get it unless I switch to airplane mode and back. Even then it's short-lived in multiple known 4g areas.
Anyway, tried updating prl. Get an error 1012. But when connected to my airave no problem. Just wondering if that's good to update while hooked up to airave cause I can't in a data area.
Thanks

Ok no one has said anything lol
I've been reading and trying to research my problem. I thought I saw a thread on this same issue but haven't found it yet (hard juggling wife kids work & Android).
Anyway I've spoke with sprint and I just don't trust them.
Been watching my signal on net monitor and everytime I connect to am ehrpd tower my phone tries to connect to lte but apparently didn't want to and jumps down to 3g. I can get lte but has to be a lte tower. Not real knowledgeable yet in this stuff but I'm trying.
Currently on Viper
Firmware 1.54.401.5
Prl 51100

I'm having similar symptoms. I upgraded this past Monday from a Samsung S3 that had good LTE and CDMA voice inside my home (Plano, TX) and my new M8 cannot maintain any stable connection on the voice or data sides. Even at my workplace, I can only get a weak LTE/Spark connection and no voice. I've already worked with several techs and support people at Sprint throughout the week and even exchanged to another new M8 with no better success. I believe it has to do with the Spark (which is actually one of the LTE-Advanced features) and the CSFB (Circuit-Switched Fall Back) that allows us voice on the old CDMA network until VoLTE to rolled out. I am frustrated enough to turn it back in and just go back to using my old S3.

I have no problem with the voice. This is where it seems many are having problems. I'm trying to figure out if this phone is supposed to behave this way with ehrpd towers.

I've mentioned in a different thread that LTE for me is mostly stable, but it does get a little wonky on me. For example, one day at work the LTE will be strong and solid and the following day it drops out intermittently and toggles 3g on.
Probably a sprint issue, not an m8 issue
I had the same prob with my first M8. Could not got 4g until I switched airplane mode off/on. Took it back withing 14 days and got a new one. This one gets 4g/LTE now but have had to switch airplane mode a couple times. Also, my airave does not like this phone. Sometimes it will give it full signal and then other times 4g will be showing and I have no signal and miss calls. I called airave support and the solution they gave me was to switch to cdma when at home.
This is a known issue with the M8. Some people have had success with HTC replacing the defective phone. http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one-m8/390449-sprint-signal-issues.html
Yep, defective phone
I had terrible connection problems after buying a brand new phone! Ex: No service, Dropped calls every minute, No LTE, 3G was rare. Basically it was not even a phone! I had to ship mine back to HTC. This was after hours at the Sprint store, and many customer service chats with HTC reps. I also had to unroot my phone which was a huge hassle considering I just found out how to root it. After getting a new one, works fine.
Don't let them tell you it is a service problem if you are having the same symptoms. THIS IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM and HTC needs to fix your phone. Hope this helps

So when I first got the phone I had zero connectivity issues. After about 2 weeks I started having very occasional problems with it taking awhile to re-connect to 4g going in and out of weak signal areas. Now my phone refuses to connect to a mobile data connection of any sort. W T F.....and of course this happens after having the phone for 38 days.
Running Liberty 3 2.0 atm w/ 5.5.886.
What is the latest official release so I can flash to it before calling and *****ing at Verizon?
idk bout the probs you're having other than you're rooted, etc, yada.
i'm still stock, no available updates, running sysver 5.5.886.XT875
Verizon is having nationwide data issues right now. Try switching to CDMA only. If I'm on CDMA/LTE it won't connect to any data but if I switch to CDMA only I at least get 3G.
I was thinking the same thing, I haven't had the data issues that a lot of people have with the Bionic. I was getting 34mbs download speeds this morning on 4G, then when I got to work, no data.....so I did all the known fixes, and still nothing, thought it was my phone until I read about the Verizon issue. Took me a while to get 3G running, but now it seems OK, just no 4G. Hopefully it will be back up soon.
Yup, the outage has been acknowledged by VZW. I think this is the 5th nationwide LTE outage I've experienced since purchasing the Tbolt on launch day back in March. It proves once again that VZW is very good at selling phones and not so good at running a reliable network.
I know that if the network where I work experienced 5 major outages in 7 months people would be fired. I'm sure the lower level engineers are hard at work fixing the problem but the Director or VP of wireless networks needs to go .... now.
As an operations guy who runs applications for a major health care system I know I plan changes in stages and must present and document validated back out procedures before I get to do the change. The change control process at VZW is SERIOUSLY BROKEN. I know what you network engineers are thinking .... someone fat-fingered a change. Nope, the severity and duration of this outage (and the ones before it) are a sign of much bigger problems.
I never thought I'd see the day where I seriously contemplated leaving a carrier because of network unreliability. Bad coverage is one thing but not knowing how to run a major network speaks to bigger problems.
Tried switching to cdma only first thing and no connection there either. Guy right beside me with a Samsung Charge was still getting 4g with 20mbps down.
For those keeping track you can add another data outage today. I'll echo my comments from above ... VZW is great at selling phones and not so good at running a reliable network.
Oh yeah, wasn't it Verizon that used to make fun of AT&T's network reliability? Sounds like they are following AT&T's footsteps. I just came back from Chicago which should be a strong 4G area, and I kept losing my data connection and my phone was already set to CDMA only. At home in the southeast I will occasionally lose data connectivity but not as bad a what I experienced in Chicago.
So to start out, this is my 3rd HTC ONE. First one had a bad camera. The next one was a refurb with a screen burn-in problem.
I'm now on my 2nd refurb, everything looks good and checks out, but I'm noticing that I'm not connecting to 4G. Like, ever. I've called Sprint and their reply is that I'm on in a fully launched LTE market, which is true. But on my commute to and from work every day I connect to a minimum of 2 towers with LTE, using both my old GS3 and the first 2 HTC ONES that I had.
Also in settings -> about -> network it's showing CDMA rev A instead of the usual eHRPD that has shown there for months, even before LTE towers started coming up.
So I'm 99% convinced something is wrong with the radio on this phone.
Do you guys think the same? All the settings are in place for LTE to connect. My SIM (UICC) number is in Sprints system, my network mode is LTE/CDMA, I've updated PRL and Profile about 10 times each. I've toggled airplane mode numerous times near the towers I know have LTE. I'm just at a loss here, and I'm sick of these crappy refurbished phones!
Thanks guys.
It must be the phone my phone has a similar problem by not connecting 3G only 1x and LTE. Take it to a sprint store and see what they say about it.

So been having many issues with the HTC one and the latest airave. So I just wanted to share a little bit of information I discovered. First off, the first time I brought my one home I couldn't connect to the airave and when I did I couldn't send any text(seen this issue posted here many times). After many calls to tech support, we discovered that the airave settings on sprint.com was set to restricted which somehow that get reset when switching from evo 3d to the one.
Next issue couple months later, every other day I could not connect to the airave period no matter how many times I reset the airave, restarted phone, updated profile and prl.it would not connect. Spent hrs with Sprint airave techs for them to only tell me my device was effed and to take it to store for replacement. With that said, I get replacement and get home and bam no connection to airave. So another call to airave support and this tech puzzled on the probs I'm having he then has me dial ##debug# and click on 1x engineering and tell him what the # is under CH#. That number is 476. He replies with its a known issue that when a phone is on channel 476 the airave will not connect period and there is a patch being worked on with no eta lol. Anyways so since I got replacement phone over a week ago I been having the same no connection issues, I got home from work today and had connection to the airave and the channel was set on 75. I left to go pickup my son from a friends down the rd and got home and had no connection to the airave..checked channel and it was set to 476. Have no idea what makes the channel change?? Or if there is a way to change it manually?? So hopefully people with airave problems can use the info I posted here.
Mine is set to 125. I've never had an issue connecting to my Airave.
Sent from my One and only.
Our Airrave at work stopped working. My IT guy called sprint and they said a recent update to the Airrave can damage the power supply. they sent us a new one and :victory: all is working well. I would request a new power supply and profit!
If this helps, hit the thanks.
I don't know if this is related, but I too had problems with an Airave that was using a bad power supply. One would think that providing current at a voltage would be nailed down by now, but sometimes some middle manager orders the cheap one...
Only issue I have with mine is the GPS light turning red every other day, then I have to unplug the antenna, and wait and that usually fixes it, no rhyme or reason why it does this.
When I first got mine it worked flawless for months than the mobile light and gps light would turn red, tech support was no help.
I also notice the airave is hot to the touch, I wonder if that could be part of the issue.

I've never had an issue with my Airave 2.5 but this is good to know in case I start having problems.
I also had problem with bad power supply. I called support when would not connect and agent asked if power light was on the power brick. It was but she said power supply problems have popped up and Sprint would send a new one. After call I unplugged the power supply and when I plugged in again the light would not light up. New power supply is different design and no problems since.
This is all some good info. Guess maybe I should check out my power supply. My phone is going to channel 476 every other day. Would like to know what causes the channel change? I work in the city and live out in the boonies, so maybe somehow the switch is happening on the way home hitting different towers or sumtin.
I had a power supply go bad on mine. Never had any issues connecting to the Airave. Although now I have 800 in my area, so a lot of the times it won't even connect to the airave anymore. This of course has nothing to do with the airave not working, can anyone confirm the new airwave 2.5 will connect at 800? I was thinking about swapping it out.

I am not in an 800MHz area, but I have the Airave 2.5 and my 1x engineering shows connected to "CDMA PCS" frequency (which I think is 1900MHz). I remember reading that the Airave 2.5 is supposed to have a 800MHz beacon in it, so maybe it just broadcasts it but connects at 1900MHz. I'm not sure how I could tell if it is actually broadcasting 800MHz though.
Just wanted to chime in here and say that I had a power supply take a dump on me last week.
Lights would flash on all orange for about .5 seconds and off. Rinse and repeat.
Substituted another PS and it booted right up, but had reverted to factory defaults and tried issuing IP addresses to all of my clients on my network. I unplugged its LAN connection and left the WAN port connected and it works fine. Called tech support and a new PS is supposed to be in the mail.

Mine kills my internet sometimes as well and also gets very hot. Just went a few days with solid connection and then back to none.
Channel 476
Im having the same issue with my Optimus G on channel 476. The only way I can connect to the Airave is go into the basement where no 1X800 signal is present, (no service) then enter airplane mode momentarily. This forces the phone to search for a signal. Then and only then will it see the 1900mhz signal of the Airave. This is a pain and it's taking Sprint far to long to push a software fix.
Multiple power supply failures
I have had a Sprint Airave for several years. The power supply has failed 3 times. Just find a third party 12V 2A power supply that ISN'T from the original mfg as a backup, and keep requesting replacements from Sprint
Update 12/31/15 Been a sprint customer for 7 years. Had multiple Airave units with failures, but Sprint was cool and replaced each at no charge. Just purchased a new Galaxy S6. Hours / days on the phone with tech support: Channel problem still an issue. Yup , customer support says they are still working on it (software bug) and closed my case. The woman I spoke to understood why I wanted to change carriers...
BTW, you get a new phone for $700 and set it for CDMA mode (3g only) because the Airave 2.5 ONLY works in 3g. Final research from Airavana (mfg for Airave) . They have a newer Airave that is designed to work in LTE (4g) mode. Why is sprint not supporting these new units? The channel issue dates back over 2 years and Sprint in not resolving.
Time to move on to Verizon as they have towers near me. No more lost call ....

I'm still using the same old airave from when I posted this lol. I was told to switch to cdma when at my house. Which isn't a big deal, but I then forget to switch back when I leave. Also started just shutting off the airave and using WiFi calling when it works.

I just got my new M8 today. Did the update, activated it, did the profile & PRL update, etc.
I am constantly getting the message that I am roaming on data. It seems to go back and forth between roaming and not roaming. Even outside I only get 1 bar of LTE and the LTE signal is a good 10dBvm worse than my old M7. My M7 never switched to roaming in the same location.
Anyone else noticing worse reception on this phone than the old HTC One?
I'm having the same issue.

I was worried bout the same myself. In the office with the M7, I wan't able to get LTE, but luckily with the M8 I am able too. I would have your phone checked at a corporate Sprint Store to see if it's faulty

I had the same issue yesterday when I upgraded my radios to the new version (1.54). I was stuck in 3G roaming at my house which was normally low end LTE service before the upgrade. After flashing the radios I did a Profile and PRL update using WIFI, then restated my M8. After the restart I am back to having LTE coverage floating around -90-95 dBvm. I also notice that if LTE fails to connect swithing airplane mode On/Off helps as well as dialing *18 from the dialer. Hope it helps.

I already did the profile/prl updates, and my phone isn't stuck on 3G. It will go 3G roaming, then 3G on sprint, then LTE. Seems to not be able to make up its mind. On my old phone it would usually toggle between LTE and 3G in this area, but NEVER did it go roaming. Even when I'm on WIFI I still get the annoying roaming notification in the notification bar every 5 minutes.
I also noticed my WiFi download speed on wireless AC is significantly worse than my M7. I used to be able to get 70mpbs on a speed test, this phone won't even break 12mbps. When I first turned the phone on it would only work on WiFi for the first 3 seconds after connecting and then it would stop. I had to keep connecting and disconnecting to WiFi to limp the software update download along. After it updated it at least stays connected and working on WiFi, but a lot slower than my old M7.
This phone was purchased on a SWAC account so I'm not sure if a Sprint store (which is 40 minutes away for the nearest one) would swap it for me.
Moved to Q&A...all questions should be posted in Q&A.
Thank You,

My phone used to work great on LTE, but one day it showed the LTE icon, but I couldn't get it to work. If I toggle airplane mode, then wait for LTE to connect it will work for a few minutes, but then go back to showing the LTE icon but not transferring any data. The phone works fine on cdma only, but I want the strong LTE I used to have. I've been dealing with it for over a month, and other people on sprint with different phones have strong LTE that works fine. I have updated the radio, tried AOSP and sense roms, updated radios, removed and inserted the sim card, flashed an RUU back to completely stock, updated profile and PRL.
On sense roms, I would occasionally get the message "Unable to establish a wireless data connection. LTE: EMM-65535, EHRPD: 65535"
Very frustrating, as 3g speeds in my area are awful, and everyone around me can take advantage of the faster LTE signal. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution, or is it a hardware issue?

Do you expericne this everywhere, or just in certain places? Are you "side by side" (i.e. in the same area) with your colleagues who have Sprint when they get LTE and you don't?
After nearly a year of strong LTE at our house, we rarely get LTE now and mostly 3G. This started about three months ago. When it first started, I only had an EVO 4G LTE, but we have also since gotten a One, and both phones behave the same. We live within 500 yards on the west side of the tower, according to SignalCheckPro. In fact, I can go outside and see the tower. When we do get LTE, SCP will sometimes indicate that the phone is connected to a tower futher away. If the phones have been inactive for awhile, they will initially show 4G, but quickly switch to 3G if we try any type network access (i.e. web, email, etc). If we go to the east side of that tower, we get strong LTE and 5-10 Mbps transfer speeds on both phones.
I reported this to Sprint a couple of months ago, and got a response that they were doing another phase of upgrades on that particular tower. I reported it again a couple of weeks ago, but got no response. There is a major retail business street on the east side of the tower, so Sprint may have re-focused the signal on the business corridor. I have also noted a couple of other towers in other areas of the city where I work that have this same highly directional behavior, and unfortnately, the places where I have to be are on the wrong side of the towers.
So, you could very well have a phone hardware issue, but it could also be Sprint. If you check other fourms, you will find similar reports of areas losing LTE after having it for some time. Which is why I asked if you can get LTE in some places, and not others. You might consider getting SignalCheckPro to see where you are in relation to the towers. IMO, Sprint's LTE network seems to be messed up in many places.

Yes, most my friends have sprint Iphone 5c's and a few android LTE Phones and live in my area. they all have strong LTE. I'm pretty sure it is a sim card/hardware issue because my phone has been completely stock and unrooted for about 2 weeks now, and the LTE Only worked for the first day. Unfortunately I got the phone on the day it was launched, so my warranty is gone. Unless there is some trick to get it to stay connected. :crying:

Yes I tried updating those, and updating the radios. Just wondering, when it was new it would always say the sim card was removed when it really wasn't. Is it possible that it has a faulty sim card? I'm pretty sure the sim card is only used for LTE.
