Attempted to flash my first rom (dmodv6) and I got stuck in a boot loop... I wiped cache and all that to no avail.... Now, I'm simply attempting to flash back to stock firmware. The problem is upon visiting the sites with all the listed firmware, I have no clue which one I am supposed to choose. What PDA version number is the correct one? Can someone help me please?

load the latest
next time do a nandroid backup before loading a new ROM to make it easier to recover from a bootloop

an unlocked GT-i8190... not sure of the model... I use straight talk but it came with a t-mobile apn... and region is part of the problem... I'm from the USA but there's no USA or North America region firmware that I could find.
And I did a backup but not thru CWM (like I imagine I should have).... I used titanium backup...
I think the reason I probably ended up with a boot loop is because I placed the dmodv6 rom on the external sdcard and booted from there... I probably should have put it in the phone sd... whoops....
I read somewhere that region didn't really matter as long as it was the latest... Is this true?
Thanks.

yup absolutely
providing you load the right model firmware it should be fine
you could also try one of the rooted firmwares in the custom ROM section
Oh, awesome! Maybe I'll try one of those.

So I attempted to flash the stock firmware but the same thing is happening... BOOT LOOP!
I'm at a loss... I don't know what to do from here. Any ideas?
What rom did you have before you tried dmod? If it was anything else but stock--based you will have to do a factory reset to get out of boot loop.

It was the stock jellybean 4.1.1... I've done the factory reset and cache wiping and such to no avail. It also gave me the boot loop when attempting to flash back to a stock firmware... but I just noticed it was for 4.1.2... I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not... but I just downloaded a rooted stock 4.1.1 firmware and am attempting to flash it now....
EDIT: Same deal... didn't work. Should I do format/ system? I've read lots of info today about boot loop problems but it seems most have it fixed via some of the options I've tried. I don't care if I lose all of my data or anything... I just want my phone to work again!
Now whenever I boot in cwm it asks me if I want to install an untrusted package... some sort of update.zip... Should I be booting into cwm after flashing the stock firmware and wiping anything? I was under the impression it would simply reboot and my phone would work if all went well. I'm just unsure about all of the steps.

Everything looks good on Odin until I go to reboot... CWM is still the recovery. I remember having a hell of a time flashing CWM... It kept booting to stock recovery and then, one time, it worked. I've tried over and over to get it back to stock recovery but it's not happening.
I'll keep trying, though. What is this PIT thing? I hear it's a last resort... I'm starting to think it may be my only option unless you good people have any more ideas.
I appreciate it, guys!

It means you are still able to access the recovery? If yes then install a other ROM from external SD card. I think this will help you : remove your external SD card (if you have one) put it in a other phone or some else download an other ROM, move it to your external SD card, put the SD card back to your s3 mini and install it via CWM under the section "install ZIP from external sd".
Do a nandroid backup before and don't forget to wipe factory data and cache

Good and don't forget if you flash a new ROM and wiped factory and cache then do the first boot take often 5-10mins or longer.

Hi
Can someone kindly help me here please. I'm fairly new to flashing custom ROMs and was eager to try out the Ultimate 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ROM I found here on XDA. I installed and setup the ROM no problem. However, was unable to format the Internal SD for Settings - Storage. I really wanted to start with a new, clean system so I (stupidly) connected the Note to my Mac via USB Mass Storage Mode, and formatted the Internal SD Card using Disk Utility.
Now I am unable to use the Note. However, I am able to boot into CWM 6xxxxxx. Under Mounts/StorageI have managed to mount the Internal SD, I can copy files onto it from my Mac and format using Disk Utility. But I am unable to get the device up and running again. As I get messages in CWM saying can't mount SD, and similar.
I do have some Nandroid backups on my Mac and copied these across to the SD Card using CWM Mounts and Storage. However, as I get the message can't mount SD card, I am unable to restore the system.
Please help someone. I love my Note and want her back.
Thank you in anticipation.
What format did / does your mac format in ? It needs to be FAT32, try reformatting it in recovery
Also, the error mounting sd card, is this internal or external ? I get this error a lot but i can still flash from both cards.

Hi - I flashed the UK Stock Rom successfully and the internal SD is there and fine. Thank you so much for your help - I've learned so much. One final question, the phone rebooted automatically after the flash, at this point it was still connected to the PC with a USB cable and Odin was open. On the phone I saw a message saying MTP syncronizing. I then quit Odin and unplugged the USB cable. Can I confirm that this will not harm the newly installed ROM on the phone?
Thank you again for your help and guidance
That's normal. Phone boots automatically because auto reboot is checked in odin. You have a perfectly working phone now ciao

You should try to put your Note in download mode and flash a stock rom with Odin.
You must flash the PIT file to repartition your phone's storage, chose the right one (16 or 32 Gb).
I am almost sure that your phone is soft bricked and it is recoverable.
If it don't work, thant mean that your have bad blocks in your phone's storage. Have you wiped your note while under ICS android ?
what rom were you on? if JB, try a factory reset.

My phone is now out of bootloop but now I face a different issue that I cant get my sim card work, it gives no signal and I noticed one more thing that IMEI of my phone is blank.

I currently have an imei but it is some random number starting with "004999" and I do get signals but cant make a call .. Do you know if there is some hope for me or not .. and what else I can try.
This is the developer imei. You may be able to make calls of you try a GB rom. Or there is one rom by ThaiDai which had some work around built into it. I don't know which one.
Else the site I mentioned earlier has contact info of cvxcvx. He can fix your phone remotely but by charging about 10 euros.
Need help for a bricked N7000
Hi guys,Im a complete newbie to the whole custom rom scenario. Yet, after being fed up of touchwiz on my N7000 i decided i wanted to taste some KitKat on my phone. After seeing many videos with positive reviews I thought it would be a rather easy process. But somehow I seem to have made a mistake and now my phone is stuck on Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 logo. I cant get into recovery mode as suggested on most places. As of now I only have access to the download mode but dont know what to do with it.
Here's what I tried doing :
1) I was on stock OS, and these are my specifics : Galaxy Note N-7000 running JB 4.1.2
Baseband version : N7000DDLS6
Kernel version: 3.3.31-906407
BUild number:JZO54K.N7000DDLSC
2) As I was following the procedure from Omnirom's official website, I first rooted my phone using Framaroot's single click root app. This gave me SuperSU app.
3) Then I tried installing TWRP recovery (recommended by Omni) but they dont support the N7000. I read a few other tutorials where it was stated the CWM recovery and that too Philz CWM recovery is the best to go with. Apparently it is just stock kernel with CWM recovery. Since the latest one(philz_touch_6.07.9-n7000) was not being installed, I installed the one before that which worked (PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2-signed).
4) I even installed the ROM Manager as per the tutorial. However, uptil now I could access recovery mode ( Vol UP+Home+Power) and i saw the touch enabled philz recovery mode once. Then i did system reboot.
5)After reboot, this is where I did a mistake in my opinion. I opened ROM Manger and clicked on "open in recovery mode" option. Since then the phone is stuck on the Galaxy Note N7000 logo. Please help me revive the phone. Thanks in advance. Again, Im doing this for the first time and most terms are new to me. So please explain the procedure as other tutorials are not very clear.
You missed on reading the most important instructions.
Rom manager will not work with note. Recovery is built into the kernel on note and not as a separate partition.
Try harder to get into recovery mode. If you still can't, get the ddlsc Philz kernel tar version. Flash it using Odin. Then power off the device and boot into recovery. Then flash raw kernel. Reboot recovery. Flash omni and other required zips.

Flashing stock firmware with Odin will not delete your data from SD card. You will probably need to do factory reset, it will delete your contacts, sms, apps... But stuff from internal and external sd will remain there.
You bricked it because 4.4.2 uses preload partition for a swap, and it is partitioned in different way. And on PA 3.69 is probably different.
Or ROM zip of PA was corrupted.
thankyou and one more question

You can't brick phone with clearing cache. Did you wipe system partition? Try to install same ROM that you had (if you had).
Give us a screenshot of Odin fail. What exactly happen. And what is the full name of md5 that you put in pda of Odin. Try different version of Odin too.

Go back to recovery, and if you have ROMs zip install it again.
Ofcourse you shouldn't wipe system partition, system files are there...
And if you can't install ROM again, what error do you get in Odin?

I didn't think twice before wiping it. My bad.
Anyways, That's the issue. I can't go to recovery. Phone only shows the odin mode (if i press VOL. DOWN+HOME+POWER).
Odin simply says FAILS.

Well then you did not just wipe system, you installed some GB based ROM over?
You have log window in Odin, where it fails? Try to redownlaod firmware again, and then install again.
What version of Odin do you use? Try 3.x.

ROM is fine. And you was on GB or JB before? If you was on GB then this problem you got is normal. You must be on JB (flash JB firmware) if you install JB ROM.
And again, if you get FAIL on Odin DO A SCREENSHOT AND POST IT HERE. To see what cause that fail. Left part of this screenshot is a log http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gkWcapOu2...gingerbread+s5570jpq8+samsung+galaxy+Mini.jpg
Blue, where it says Message.
This is for other phone, do not pay attention on that, I just told you what I need to see.

And no, you must install Firmware not, not ROM. Because you probably installed JB ROM over GB. That is why you do not have working recovery.
Finally unbricked !!!

Hi guys im stuck in twrp and i cant transfer any downloaded rom to my sd card or internal storage in twrp. I thought i had a good backup but i dont i need help cause im out of town and need my phone to be working asap thanks in advance
This happened to me once, i called T-Mobile and got replacement.
Can you get to a pc?
Then use Odin to flash ank stock image.
yes im downloading a stock image on my moms pc she gets under 1mbps down so its taking forever to download the 1.5GB file. Already have ODIN downloaded is this gonna erase my sd card when i flash the stock image ?
If you can, use a Micro SD card adapter, download the latest TWRP into the SD card. Try flashing the latest TWRP. Wipe and restore your backup.
If that didn't work, see if you can access a windows. Odin to stock, factory reset and you should be good to go.
If you're going to Odin to stock, all files on your phones memory will be deleted.
think im gonna change my recovery to philz when i root again , not having the ability mtp in recovery is a huge problem

You might be able to use ADB to pull all your important files from your internal storage
guys you wouldnt believe this i just flashed back to stock using odin 3.10 and to my surprise all of my files remained intact ! all my pictures of my daughter and my music are still on my phone and im not running a clean unrooted stock build of 4.4 kitkat
That's awesome man. Congrats.

If you don't factory reset on top of an odin flash you still seem to retain pics, ringtones, wallpapers, etc.

You should backup all of your files and do a full factory reset to avoid problems

Dont wipe system after you flash the ROM. Only wipe cache. If you wipe system you are earasing the ROM.

Help!
Did you end up figuring this out? I've just had the same thing happen to me!
This build is a COD6..
have you folks updated your bootloader and modem???
If your flashing the partial firmware using odin.. then you need to boot directly into recovery and flash the Rom.
Please post a screen shot of "about device" so i can see your baseband..

I'm not really sure what you mean, I'm still relatively new at this.
It wouldn't boot at all, but I managed to install twrp through the recovery. Afterwards I put the rooted stock ROM on the SD card and did a wipe/install from recovery and now it's stuck doing the loop and vibrating twice each time.
I can't figure out how to find that information when I only have access to recovery, it's the Bell version in Canada, SM-N910W8. I had it up to date and just rooted it last night.
Thanks for your quick reply!
Edit: I did change a couple of things with build.prop.editor before it happened, that's what I'm thinking screwed this.

So you have twrp installed..
Ok. Do you have a nandroid back on your ext sd by chance?? If so reboot recovery under advanced wipe sys/data/dal/cache.. then navigate to your ext were your restore is and flash it..
If not follow these steps.[emoji16]
Step #1 download either a stock rom of your choice or something like This
And a copy of the bioshock kernal. If you decide to use the rom i provided the link for. Check the md5 sums from the download source after you download the files to make sure they match. Download them onto your ext sd card.
Step#2 reboot recovery go to wipe advanced and check/ system/data/dalvik/cache/and internal.. ×3
Then factory data reset x3
Then nav to ext sd and flash the rom.
Note: if you flash the link i provided you have to flash the kernel in the same session... READ THE OP..
Note: #2 when you wipe internal your internal sd card will be wiped so if you need to save pics or whatever do so prior..
You can try skipping the internal once but if it loops then you prob should wipe it like i said and flash kernal such as bioshock.
Ok thats it for now please follow and read what i wrote carefully..
And for now stay away from COD6 for now.. unless you understand the procedure... its all about the kernal flashing in the same session before you boot up..[emoji41]
One last thing.. its dangerous to be
"NEW AT THIS" and just start flashing stuff you need to be carefull and read read read.. in your case W8 you need to flash a kernel 90% of the time same setting..

Hes on W8 so unless im mistakin COD6 bootloader and modem will not work.
He can flash the builds but needs a kern to complete the boot... like bio..
And doesnt need the COD6 firmware..
He prob can flash the rom he wanted he just needs to follow it with the kern before he booted...
Easypeasy..[emoji3]
