Hi
Just used the CyanogenMod Wiki tutorial to try and install ClockworkMod, however after downloading the kernel onto the device, it doesn't start up now. Doesn't flash into recovery or boot up at all, just keeps flashing the first "Galaxy S GT-I900" screen until you pull the battery. Any ideas on how to get my phone working again? Or at least what I might've done wrong?
Thanks!
I guess u flashed the wrong file. Try getting to recovery. Keep holding vol-up +home+ power till screen lights up. Then reflash ur ROM.
Else reflash a GB ROM with ticking partition via Odin.
Let me know if it helped

I can't actually get to recovery at all, I was trying to install recovery in the first place. I am only able to access the download via USB part.
Flash latest GB ROM via Odin, preferably pre-rooted, so that it has CWM recovery.
And when you flash, make sure u tick re-partition in Odin and use 512.pit file.
Hit thanks if helpful

^^ What he said, I just got an i9000 from a friend that is having the boot problem and I'm trying to fix it, but almost all of the links are outdated.
here is a recovery kit containing ezodin, ezbase rom, root kernel and .txt instructions, download, unzip, read and fash....any problems/queries post back here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d382m2kyorzum16/ezbase recovery kit gb.zip
you will end up with a stripped rooted gb rom from which you can then go on to flash a custom rom

Did the flash go ok, did it boot up after initial room flash, and then did it bit after kernel flash?

The flash went well, it didn't boot up fully after the flash, it just rebooted and went to the battery charging screen

What do you want to flash? If you want to flash slim go to website and follow instructions, you will need to get a Cm9 nightly also, then base, essentials, and gapps, and get them onto your sd card, then do the flashing as per instructions on the website

i did the same thing when i flashed my first kernel. Your just bootlooping, this is no biggie. Also the CWM is packaged witht the kernel so thats why you cant get into it. Just flash CF root first this is the guide to get to CM9
1. root w/super1click OR Go and straight flash a kernel such as CF root via ODIN
2. flash ICS via CWM
3. Flash new Kernel like Devil from CWM
4. Sucess!

You should try to put your Note in download mode and flash a stock rom with Odin.
You must flash the PIT file to repartition your phone's storage, chose the right one (16 or 32 Gb).
I am almost sure that your phone is soft bricked and it is recoverable.
If it don't work, thant mean that your have bad blocks in your phone's storage. Have you wiped your note while under ICS android ?
what rom were you on? if JB, try a factory reset.

You shouldn't be doing a reset on ICS stock at all.. Install Philz kernel for ICS and wipe data and cache.. When flashing a stock rom using odin, is it a success?

I have successfully flashed rom on my phone which is : N7000ZSLPF_N7000OZSLPF_OZS
My phone is now out of bootloop but now I face a different issue that I cant get my sim card work, it gives no signal and I noticed one more thing that IMEI of my phone is blank.
I went into recovery mode and it is still showing that efs error as it was showing before...
Any suggestion what should I try to fix this ?
So you never installed any rom or a custom kernel?

Look for a file on your storage named efs.autobackup.img. If nothing like that, check on this site http://www.cvxcvx.pl/en/podstrona-0/naprawa-efs-w-i9100-n7000/ for some instructions. Read carefully and proceed.

I currently have an imei but it is some random number starting with "004999" and I do get signals but cant make a call .. Do you know if there is some hope for me or not .. and what else I can try.
This is the developer imei. You may be able to make calls of you try a GB rom. Or there is one rom by ThaiDai which had some work around built into it. I don't know which one.
Else the site I mentioned earlier has contact info of cvxcvx. He can fix your phone remotely but by charging about 10 euros.
Need help for a bricked N7000
Hi guys,Im a complete newbie to the whole custom rom scenario. Yet, after being fed up of touchwiz on my N7000 i decided i wanted to taste some KitKat on my phone. After seeing many videos with positive reviews I thought it would be a rather easy process. But somehow I seem to have made a mistake and now my phone is stuck on Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 logo. I cant get into recovery mode as suggested on most places. As of now I only have access to the download mode but dont know what to do with it.
Here's what I tried doing :
1) I was on stock OS, and these are my specifics : Galaxy Note N-7000 running JB 4.1.2
Baseband version : N7000DDLS6
Kernel version: 3.3.31-906407
BUild number:JZO54K.N7000DDLSC
2) As I was following the procedure from Omnirom's official website, I first rooted my phone using Framaroot's single click root app. This gave me SuperSU app.
3) Then I tried installing TWRP recovery (recommended by Omni) but they dont support the N7000. I read a few other tutorials where it was stated the CWM recovery and that too Philz CWM recovery is the best to go with. Apparently it is just stock kernel with CWM recovery. Since the latest one(philz_touch_6.07.9-n7000) was not being installed, I installed the one before that which worked (PhilZ-cwm6-DDLSC-ODD-5.11.2-signed).
4) I even installed the ROM Manager as per the tutorial. However, uptil now I could access recovery mode ( Vol UP+Home+Power) and i saw the touch enabled philz recovery mode once. Then i did system reboot.
5)After reboot, this is where I did a mistake in my opinion. I opened ROM Manger and clicked on "open in recovery mode" option. Since then the phone is stuck on the Galaxy Note N7000 logo. Please help me revive the phone. Thanks in advance. Again, Im doing this for the first time and most terms are new to me. So please explain the procedure as other tutorials are not very clear.
You missed on reading the most important instructions.
Rom manager will not work with note. Recovery is built into the kernel on note and not as a separate partition.
Try harder to get into recovery mode. If you still can't, get the ddlsc Philz kernel tar version. Flash it using Odin. Then power off the device and boot into recovery. Then flash raw kernel. Reboot recovery. Flash omni and other required zips.

Hi
I have a p7320 which I am trying to install a custom ROM to, and I am having some trouble.
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569122
1: flashed cwd through odin
2: flashed superuser through cwm
All fine until now
3: then I flashed the kernel from the same site through cwm
4: bootloop
I didnt take backup, so I couldnt nandroid back
I couldnt turn the device on, so I couldnt transfer another kernel
There were no "mount USB" in cwm so I couldnt transfer the files there either.
I was able to go into download mode, and I flashed the only stock rom I could find in .tar (flashable through odin)
from here: http://androidromupdate.com/2012/12/12/u-s-att-samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-lte-sgh-i957-android-4-0-4-ice-cream-sandwich-update-finally-arrives/
flashing went fine and the tab booted.
Now I went back and flashed cwm again through odin, but when I was going to place superuser and the new rom on the sdcard.... there is no room on the tab.
In explorer it says : 0 byte available out of 26.9MB
This tab is 16GB.... what happened?
I cant transfer files to it, so the only thing I can flash is the .tar files through odin.
please help

Hmmm, this is usually a sdcard mount thing
so maybe all you have to do is reboot to CWM do a format /sdcard from mount and unmount section in CWM
then reboot to system and see if the problem still there

this probably means that your CWM version is old [5.5.0.4 I guess]
I don't know if your tab has a newer CWM cuz my tab is p7300,
so try to find a newer one or even try TWRP instead, cuz it also has sdcard format function
one little thing, you said your tab is P7320 and yet you have installed a SGH-I957 ROM {read it from your link}
I honestly don't know the deference between the two devices
what I'm trying to say is: maybe the problem is because you're using a ROM for a different device
so maybe you should try THIS [the latest ICS Odin tar samsung framework for P7320]
I have a p7320 and I am using this ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554877
Fast, no bloatware, no freezing.
I followed the instructions no problems. My recovery UI has an option partition SD card under advanced. Dont know if that will help you.

Hi
I was able to download another .tar full stock rom which I flashed with odin.
Worked out fine, and the memory of the SD card is back.
However... I once again flashed cwm and superuser, then i tried the rom you are linking to but the tab wont boot with it
Its just stuck with a black screen after the logo.
Now I have reflashed the stock rom with working sd card
Sorry about that. I remember I had a black screen for a few minutes but eventually it booted. The developer also pointed out boot animations are missing

Hi,
I'm the developer working on the CM10 ROM for the P7320 - yes, the first boot might take a while, and it doesn't show a boot animation, so it might look like it's crashed. But I have tested going from the stock ICS image to my ROM a few times and it seems to work fine, eventually. Perhaps you could give it another go and see?
Cheers.

Can i flash superuser, your rom and gapps in one go? Or do I have to boot it in between?

The ROM should have super user already, so you shouldn't need that. You can do the ROM and gapps together.
I tried again, and this time it worked like a charm!

Hello knowledgeable people!
I did a very stupid thing!... I took an official Samsung ROM package .tar.md5, remove the .md5 extension, extracted it, replaced boot.img with a custom kernel boot.img and re-compressed into a .tar package.
Then I took this .tar package and flashed it on the phone with Odin on my PC.
That didn't work, as expected.
The process blocked at one point.
I thought I will then just have to flash the Samsung official ROM to get everything back.
Well... not! I can flash the Samsung official ROM with Odin on my PC, but when the phone starts, it get stucked on bootloop on the glowing samsung logo.
I tried many things, including:
* wipe cache
* wipe data
but nothing worked...
At this point, I think I need to repartition/format everything and start from scratch but I don't know how to do this...
I tried to flash the Partition Identification Table kindly uploaded by @lyriquidperfection, but it didn't work (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950591) and it gets stuck in Odin as @narcarsiss mentions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33145970&postcount=2

Yes enter recovery after flashing with Odin.
When u power on hold volume up home key and power all at the same time release them when u see Samsung gt i9305 then wipe cach and wipe the other one. There are 2 wipe options.
Your phone should boot now it takes some time the first time around a minute.
Let me know if it worked
- flash stock Samsung ROM for your country with Odin
- go to recovery wipe the 2 options When u power on hold volume up home key and power all at the same time release them when u see Samsung gt i9305

I fear sending S3 to Samsung for repair is the only way, unfortunately... This is what I will do tomorrow (in 10hrs from now) unless a white knight arrives on this thread and gives me the golden solution!
You havent mentioned what rom version you tried.
I guess you used 4.3 official?
I could only guess but ther is probably more then just boot.img containing Knox code.
Knox is hindering users from downgrading bootloader and that maight be your problem now.
You did not mention wich version you try to recover to either.
So if you try with the old 4.1.2 it may be impossible.
Perhaps you need the newest official rom to get it working.

A bit far feched but is it possible your download is broken? Try DL again.
And either it is or not you could try installing 4.3 from different region as yours. Just to try every possability.
It shouldnt be impossible to fix this stupid phone
You dont have any nandroid backup some where.
Last option. Throw it on a brick wall to release som aggrevation and then you buy a Nexus 5. Problem solved.

I had a brick once, butthe situation was a bit different. I have knox bootloader and tried to downgrade to a 4.1.2 rom without the bootloader package. The flash went ok, but my phone was stucked on Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9305 screen. After that, i was quite desperate and tried to reflash stock 4.3 via odin, but it failed :S
Then i tried to flash official Germany's 4.3 again, this time with the ODIN version inside CF-Root package (http://download.chainfire.eu/232/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305.zip?retrieve_file=1), put the cable in another USB port, killed every kies proccess and rebooted phone in dowwnload mode. This time the flash went ok, i rebooted the phone into recovery (got bootloop) and wipe cache and factory reset. After this the phone booted up normally. Hope you can fix your phone

Thanks! Any idea is valuable!
How did you create the ball pack of "4.1.2 rom without the bootloader" - in other words: how did you remove the bootloader from there?

I'd used this tutotial (just the part of commands, added everything that the original ".md5" has, removing just the "sboot.img", i'm not 100% sure if this is the only file to be off the new package, as i said, didnt work for me ), the only difference is that i'm using cygwin instead of linux itself, it worked like a charm
Basically all u need to do is unpack a original .md5 firmware (use winrar or so) and move the files (except sboot.img) to your home directory of linux or, in my case, cygwin (originally C:\cygwin\home\user-name), start the console and type the command bellow, switching the ".imgs" to match yours, of course:
Code:
cd $HOME
tar -H ustar -c image_1 image_2 > your_odin_package.tar
After this you must have a 1Gb+ .tar file (considering you will make a stock samsung flashable), now you will add md5 checksum to that, just to avoid troubles:
Code:
md5sum -t your_odin_package.tar >> your_odin_package.tar
mv your_odin_package.tar your_odin_package.tar.md5
and voilà, you have your flashable odin package. Of course you can try making one with just the system.img, boot.img and modem.img. If the phone boots up, do a factory reset. I have no idea if this will work in any occasion having knox bootloader trying to flash official 4.1.x, but you can also try with a samsung 4.3 rom.
In the last scenario, try to CF auto-root your phone, then flash an official CWM recovery via odin using this method i told u, boot into recovery and flash a custom rom, do a factory reset and wiping cache and dalvik cache. I hope one of the options work for you.
I'd recommend trying to flash a custom recovery and then a custom rom. If phone boots up and is functional, try to flash samsung official 4.3 again (if your desire is having the stock of course), not forgeting to factory reset via cwm first to avoid troubles.
Been in maybe like pratically the same situation
1st flash philz touch recovery ( install latest version)
2nd backup ur efs in external sd and copy it to a pc just in case (important if u mess up imei )
3rd Copy and rom in the external sd
4th Wipe data,cache,dilvik
5th In mount and storage Format everything except external sd ( u can backup ur internal sd card with 3rd step)
6th Flash Rom and reboot
7th If no imei then try a newer modem

Notice I only could get to run 4.3 to run after formating everything through philz touch recovery
Attempted to flash my first rom (dmodv6) and I got stuck in a boot loop... I wiped cache and all that to no avail.... Now, I'm simply attempting to flash back to stock firmware. The problem is upon visiting the sites with all the listed firmware, I have no clue which one I am supposed to choose. What PDA version number is the correct one? Can someone help me please?

an unlocked GT-i8190... not sure of the model... I use straight talk but it came with a t-mobile apn... and region is part of the problem... I'm from the USA but there's no USA or North America region firmware that I could find.
And I did a backup but not thru CWM (like I imagine I should have).... I used titanium backup...
I think the reason I probably ended up with a boot loop is because I placed the dmodv6 rom on the external sdcard and booted from there... I probably should have put it in the phone sd... whoops....
I read somewhere that region didn't really matter as long as it was the latest... Is this true?
Thanks.

yup absolutely
providing you load the right model firmware it should be fine
you could also try one of the rooted firmwares in the custom ROM section
Oh, awesome! Maybe I'll try one of those.
Thanks! (I clicked the 'thanks' button for ya)
community is here to help each other get the most out of the S3 mini
So I attempted to flash the stock firmware but the same thing is happening... BOOT LOOP!
I'm at a loss... I don't know what to do from here. Any ideas?
What rom did you have before you tried dmod? If it was anything else but stock--based you will have to do a factory reset to get out of boot loop.

It was the stock jellybean 4.1.1... I've done the factory reset and cache wiping and such to no avail. It also gave me the boot loop when attempting to flash back to a stock firmware... but I just noticed it was for 4.1.2... I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not... but I just downloaded a rooted stock 4.1.1 firmware and am attempting to flash it now....
EDIT: Same deal... didn't work. Should I do format/ system? I've read lots of info today about boot loop problems but it seems most have it fixed via some of the options I've tried. I don't care if I lose all of my data or anything... I just want my phone to work again!
Now whenever I boot in cwm it asks me if I want to install an untrusted package... some sort of update.zip... Should I be booting into cwm after flashing the stock firmware and wiping anything? I was under the impression it would simply reboot and my phone would work if all went well. I'm just unsure about all of the steps.

Flash stock recovery before you flash firmware in Odin. Otherwise the CSC zip will fail.

Everything looks good on Odin until I go to reboot... CWM is still the recovery. I remember having a hell of a time flashing CWM... It kept booting to stock recovery and then, one time, it worked. I've tried over and over to get it back to stock recovery but it's not happening.
I'll keep trying, though. What is this PIT thing? I hear it's a last resort... I'm starting to think it may be my only option unless you good people have any more ideas.
I appreciate it, guys!

It means you are still able to access the recovery? If yes then install a other ROM from external SD card. I think this will help you : remove your external SD card (if you have one) put it in a other phone or some else download an other ROM, move it to your external SD card, put the SD card back to your s3 mini and install it via CWM under the section "install ZIP from external sd".
Do a nandroid backup before and don't forget to wipe factory data and cache

Yep... I can get into CWM just fine. And yes, I have an external SD card. I'll try it out and check back. Thanks, xXPR0T0TYPEXx!

No, I've been trying to flash stock recovery through Odin.... You can do it through CWM? And I have 3.07 and 3.09... I've tried them both.

Good and don't forget if you flash a new ROM and wiped factory and cache then do the first boot take often 5-10mins or longer.

Never mind... I know what you mean. But that's how I ran into this boot loop, initially... I tried to flash dmodv6 via CWM. Everything was successful it said, but it caused the boot loop.
