Hi everyone, i just purchased the sprint g flex, i love most of the phone with one exception. I hate how things look a bit fuzzy. The icons and bright colors for example. Is there a way to sharpen how things look on this screen? The fuzziness is driving me crazy.
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
I've found if you increase the brightness the "fuzziness" all but disappears. If you don't want to do that and can't live with it, the flex may not be for you. I will say that initially it was a concern for me as well but eventually it for to the point where I didn't even notice it so don't be too quick to return it.

In the display setting you have choices of display quality. I chose vivid. Uncheck auto brightness. Move slider to at least 80%.

Is there any way with an app like AnyCut or SQLITE to edit a field to make the screen brighter? I know this may be a longshot, but with some of the other parts of the phone being capable of manipulation, I thought I'd at least ask. I understand the drain on the battery and possible other risks, but the screen, even at 100% brightness, seems to just not be that bright..
What? I can see my screen in bright clear skies daylight.... that's a bright screen! You live on Mercury or what?
If I stand outside with my screen set to 100% and auto turned off.. I have a hard time plaing contract killer because some of the characters become extremly hard to see.. If I play it on the galaxy tab in the same conditions, the characters are easy to see.. But it is true of most things I look at on the screen.. Out and about in direct daylight, the screen just isnt as bright as it needs to be..
That has nothing to do with screen brightness. The galaxy tab is a Super Amoled screen and the Thrill is LCD. That is why Samsung phones are more visible in direct sunlight too.

Im only interested in whether or not this can be accomplished..
It can't.

Nope. Can't get any brighter then it is at full.

I wish mine would go dimmer. I like to keep it on auto and its usually pretty good but at night it keeps my screen way too bright. If I use the built in widget to toggle the brightness it just puts it too dim. The only way to get it to a decent dimness in the dark is to use the slider. I say the screen it too bright 90% of the time.

Now that is do-able. I'm not sure how to do it though. Cm7 has the option to adjust the auto-brightness levels based on specific light sensor values.

Anyone noticing a screen door effect with their LCD screen? Mine definitely has it, wondering if this is normal. My last two phones have been AMOLED, so I'm not sure.
Do you mean like this?
Nexus 4 has a pattern on the display.
(I'm trying to consolidate all these threads as more and more people finally get their hands on the phone)

No, it's not dots like the digitizer. It's very fine horizontal and vertical lines like seen on some cheap TN panel monitors.
Unfortunately it's so fine I doubt I could capture it with a picture. But it seems to detract from the sharpness of the screen.
Guessing it's just me. I assume if I think my Galaxy Nexus screen looks better than the Nexus 4, then I probably got a defective Nexus 4. RMA time it seems.
I'm cursed. Had to RMA my Galaxy Nexus a couple times because of the purple effect. My Nexus 7 because of the lifted glass, now this. Ugh.
If I look close, I can make out a very slight screen door effect at times. I'm guessing all of them have this to some extent, but maybe it's worse on yours if it's so noticeable as to bother you.

Is it as bad as the pentile screens like gs3 or note?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Can't see it at all on mine, although I'm coming from a 50 dollar cheapo Optimus V so this thing just looks incredible no matter what lol

Well good news for me, I no longer see this issue on my screen. It seems to have cleared up and it looks sharp and clear now. *Whew* I'm happy and love the screen.

I can definitely see it on mine, grays make it pop out more. It's not too bad to warrant the hassle of trying an exchange, though.
Not sure why it would clear up by itself, but if it does I am not gonna mind it
My LG thrill has that, and so does the HTC inspire.
Its normal I guess

No way, not even close to as bad as pentile.
I also see these vertical lines. Been driving me crazy when I focus on them. No worries though. Great phone.

You are right, it didn't. I think after using a while, I started seeing past it. Then I was messing around with my Galaxy Nexus and tablet. Then went back to the phone and I can notice those lines again.
It also depends on what I'm looking at. It really stands out looking at the XDA forums, on the brown colors (I'm using the XDA 2010 theme).
Hey, I have read many threads but none explained if this is an issue or what. I found that someone call this digitizer, but digitizer is normally a lot different. Only thread with picture was on Android Central (I added is as extension. my own picture would look the same). The position matches position where digitizer is normally, but it has just weird pattern. Thanks for answer

i myself never understood this. even my display looks same when off. and my frds say why your phone has so many boxes. And I tell them it's to store the pixels in standby mode.
Jokes apart, are all nexus screens like this? I've never seen any other phone to have such display
Mine has this too. It is the digitizer. Also read some threads that they RMA'd the device and got a new one. Bit too much hassle for something that I cant see when the screen is on.

I have this too, I thought it was because it's normal for an IPS screen. Is it normal, do you guys have it too??

Completely normal. Carry on.
My first N4 didn't have this, but after doing an RMA the replacement did. They may have started using a different digitizer or something. Another interesting thing is that my replacement device doesn't seem to have much of an oleophobic coating either.

On older nexus phones (without nipples on the back) dont have digitizer visible. On models with nipples and onwards its visible like hell. No idea why, different implementation or.. Conspiracy

I beg to differ. I ordered mine on release. I can see the dots and the squares. Always could.

Its visible but not that much and other digitizers consist of dots not patterns like this
Thanks for your addins. It seems its normal for Nexus 4, but no other phone I saw out there doesn't have it. Its not that big deal as stripes on screen (AMOLED) I had on my previous phone.

I can see both, the dots and this pattern on my device (on strong sunlight).
Only time I can see mine is if I lock the screen and angle it under light... even then its hard to tell...
Same here-i just received my Nexus 4 3 days ago and I immediately noticed the pattern( I used to have the Galaxy Nexus). It is most visible at sunlight in an angle with the screen off. I figured it was normal...I understand now that almost everyone has it...
My first N4 had no visible screen pattern, although in daylight I could see the dot matrix, wasn't a big deal though. However, I recently RMA'd due to a vaulty earpiece and my new N4 has the same pattern in the OP. Very annoying, visible when the phone's off but can also be seen, on occasion, when the phone's on. I don't know if my OCD will last much longer...I'm fighting the urge to RMA again.

Hey guys, so I got my Pebble a few days ago and I noticed when driving in the car that there was purple "wrinkles" all over the screen. I turned off the pebble and sure enough they were still there. I took a picture http://imgur.com/OAp5D31
So, once I got inside the house I noticed it disappeared for the most part. I can still see it if I look at the screen from the side but not if I was looking at it head on. I figured it might have to do something with temperature because it was fairly cold in the car. Has this happened to anyone? I'm fine if this is normal, but if this is a defect I would definitely want to exchange it for another one.
I have definitely seen the "wrinkles" you're describing. I'll try to make sure I look at them next time I walk the dog and report back.

Thanks, I'm sitting in a warm room and they seem to be mostly gone. If I tilt the watch though and look at it horizontally I do see like a "wrinkled frame" around the screen. Would you be able to look at it from the same angle and tell me if you get the same thing?

Definitely do, and always have. I believe it's something that all Pebbles experience due to the type of screen.

This is the nature of the screen even though they don't say it's lcd, it seems like these type of screens ha very this effect.
Typically seen on lcd watches and calculator screen.
Normal finding.

Thanks a lot guys. I just wanted to make sure I didn't have a defective unit and have the screen stop working on me later on when it would be too late to exchange/return.
I think there is a polarizing film to add contrast that shows the waves in certain light
Sent from my HSG1279 using Tapatalk 2
I see that when I look at my watch through my polarized sunglasses.. in 65 degree weather. Strange..
I have the new Oakley red based polarized lenses and can't read it at all, but the older gray based I can
Sent from my HSG1279 using Tapatalk 2
I sure see that on my screen too, but not necessarily in cold weather only, here in India in my city, the coldest it gets is 15-16degree Celsius which is 60degree farenheit... Also, my screen is a little yellow-ish at the bottom. Anybody notice that?
I have actually had the same thing. I originally saw it when wearing my polarized Oakley's but I thought if was just the lenses. I actually can barely see my Nexus 5 screen with them on as well.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Its funny their new red based polarized lenses are supposed to be better with polarized LCD screens..I can see my phone better with the new ones but the pebble not so much
Sent from my HSG1279 using Tapatalk 2
My Pebble was the same but I notice that this only happen when you use a white watch face, now I use a dark watch face and the problem is gone. Maybe you guys can try that trick.
Good luck.
So just noticed the screen STILL has grain to it. If you look close it looks hazy and grainy like film grain. You can see it on whites easily and in lower brightness.
I wonder if Samsung can ever fix this.
Also the screen has lines on it on low brightness on grey and white areas. Also very annoying.
Anyone else notice this?

Yes. I noticed this all the way back to the S2. I was actually wishing they would go with an IPS screen for the S5.
Yeah this is annoying me to no end. The note 3 had it worse since it was bigger and had only 1080p still. Honestly I love the screen colors and such but my eyes are really sensitive to all this and I am a photographer and work with calibrated devices all day :/ I'd what to do. I'd go with the m8 but the phone is way too big

I don't know what to tell ya. It's bothered me, but its one of those perks that comes with Super Amoled technology. :/ This is why I prefer the iPhone's screen to amoled.
Damn Samsung lol. My girlfriend hates that I swap phones so much lol but I just paid 700 for this and I want to be content... guess I'll wait a little and see how I adjust to it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
It's a sacrifice to have infinite contrast? I had the M7 and I have no idea what you are talking about. what did you ever do before 720p displays and before the iPhone 4? Holy crap.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Infinite contrast isn't that appealing to me. Accurate colors and sharp screens without grain and horrible color shifting or tinting is.

I don't hold the phone to my face so I can't really tell. Compared to the n2 I came from its world's better.
