Hello, first of all, I apologise if this has already been posted or solved.
I totally formatted my LG G Flex yesturday after my phone completely stopped holding charge (It held at about 14% while on charge from the mains over about a 2 hour period). To my suprise, my phone began charging almost the same speed as it did when I first purchased it. I eventually got round to putting a new password on my phone. I forgot this password and my g-mail account is not working to recover my phone. I have tried multiple times to 'Hard Reset' my phone but the process doesn't seem to work (After holding the power and the volume down button, releasing after the LG icon appears then holding the said buttons down again the LG icon just seems too keep re-appearing).
What else can I do, or can someone tell me a different menthod of resetting my phone or unlocking it.
(Added detail: Almost all of the settings are default).
Thanks!
Matt.

The reason so many people are messing up their phones is due to testing with out a custom recovery for a while but now that's solved and due this phone being in such early development. The rest is due to jackasses not reading forums and just clicking on the first hot link they see " ohhhhh kitkat and root and TWRP , I wonder if it gives my phone wings so it can fly n $#!+.". No you idiot you have to submerge it in REDBULL everyone knows that.
That's why we have all messed our phones up a time or two. From testing out recoveries, ota's , to kernels. So that you my friend and the rest of our wonderful g flex community can have stuff to flash safely with a custom recovery. And yeah the subject of hard reset factory reset has been covered on several occasions . And every where I googles looking for it gave me the correct method as well as the discussions on here.
Happy flashing.

keep pressing for 10 seconds?
I have read "hold down the Volume Down and Enter (round navigation) keys and press soft reset while they are pressed" but it seems not working on mine.
Let me know (nothing about the power button)
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_diamond_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
follow the instruktions try using google and every search mean...
That should do the trick and if it does not either www.youfail.org or the phone is broken in some way.

Actually, it's Start - settings - clear storage - 1234
Just clearing that up for those that can't find it under programs.
how if press power (hold) and press reset with ur sylus .. ?!
I had to hard reset my Diamond a few days ago.
Press and hold volume down and the action key,
press and hold for a few seconds soft reset button with the stylus (while still holding volume down and action),
release soft reset button but keep the others pressed until the message appears on the screen.
Once the message appears you either press volume up to hard reset and leave internal storage intact or volume down to hard reset and clear internal storage.
If you get the timing wrong the phone will just soft reset and you will need to try again. It took me about six goes to get it right.
i dont understand the hard reset. why would i want to do this!?!

There are many reasons:
1. Youve installed a new ROM and just restored via Sprite backup, only to find that its corrupt
2. Your having problems with your phone hanging / crashing and a soft reset wont work
3. Seems to solve alot of problems (from what ive read on this forum)
4. I dont do it very often, but I did have the issue I listed at the top so it was very handy to not have to reflash the ROM again just because of a software problem
Hope this helps!

you and some of yr friends here didn't even bother to read the manual...where does it write that you use power button?????
the first place to look for an answer must be yr user manual.
if you still have problems use the search button and you'll find lots of info about this trivial subject.
just to prove my point i did a search for you.
hope that next time you'll think twice before you stat a thread.

I did some testing on my Diamond, and despite the documentation, this worked to hard-reset my phone; however, the POWER button must be pushed down LAST. Otherwise you'll simply turn the phone on.
This is the order:
Code:
volume down button + action button {middle button} + power button + reset
Once you have all buttons pressed, hit the reset button with your stylus and in seconds the hard-reset screen will display.
Have done this several times to confirm (CDMA).
Cheers.
TRied all but finally got it...
power button not needed to actually do the H.Reset, actually you need to press power to make device go in stanby & then press vol down + middle button & then press the reset & leave it... keep holding vol down & middle till the message appears...

Sorry it sounds very silly question but I tried different combinations:
power+ volume up/down (for long seconds)
Dell screen + power
etc..
It did not work..
And it does not have camera button , so those guide written for streak 5 may not apply on it?
Thanks for any inputs/sharing
Answer.
Yes, I figured it out but the Streak 7 that I am trying to fix will not reboot even in recovery mode... crazy thing
1.Turn device off. If power button will not work, then use a paperclip to hit the soft reset key in the pin hole next to the Sd card slot.
2. Press and Hold the volume up key ( the plus + sign)
3. Keep holding Volume key and now hold Power key as well until Boot Mode displays.
Use the volume keys to select and power key to choose.
Thanks!
The menu is
Boot up
Factory reset (erase user data)
Upgrade software through update.pkg in sdcard
Factor reset (erase user data and internal tablet storage)
Power off
hmmm.... which one is to take a backup image of it...
Got it.
To enter into normal factor reset, press Volume Up as mentioned in previous replies.
To enter into fastboot, press Volume Down instead.
dumb question
How do I get it out of fastboot mode? On my evo I would just pull the battery, but that is not possible on this device.
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it using the reset button. Guess I didn't read enough in this thread.
I actually got a safemode boot once, but not sure what the button combo was

Hello,
I am considering HTC One as a new device for my and DFT hobby developing.
But I have a question about soft reset function. (at least it was called so in old good WM PDA days ).
During hardcore development it's very important to be able reset device at any time in any state.
I know that holding reset button for more than 10 seconds _usually_ resets any modern phone.
But from my experience _sometimes_ it doesn't work.
And it can be a very big problem for such device like HTC One with non-removable battery.
As well as it seems very hard to disassemble HTC One to unplug and plug back battery.
So my question:
Has anyone had any similar problems with reset function on HTC One?
It's especially interesting to hear experience from kernel developers, who often got non booting kernels.
if you keep holding the power button it will activate a hardware reboot function
this is hardware safeguard function, the touch buttons will flicker as an alert till the reboot actually happens
basically its the alternative to battery pull
hope this helps in convincing you
If holding the power button doesn't work, holding the power and volume down buttons together has always worked for me.
I have done a LOT of flashing and other crap, and had a lot of mistakes, the only time I came across that the Holding Power OR Power + Volume did NOT work, was when it was (hard) bricked, the phone will go into a QHSUSB_DLOAD mode which I have not found anyway to get it out, after sending it for repairs it came back with a boardswap.
So as far as I have tried about everythign is "resetable" except for this DLOAD Mode
Same as everyone above, i have mad silly mistakes bootloop, stuck on HTC logo etc, after hours of panicking I discovered holding the power hardware button will reset the phone no matter what state it is in

Hi,
I've never seen this mechanism fail in the 13 months I've owned the HTC One X nor in the ~2 months I've owned the One and Ive used it A LOT. The only thing which happens on the One is that sometimes the sensor needs to be facing a light source when holding the power button to reboot while holding the power button, quite weird honestly, but that's how it is.
I think that you are able to soft reset it any time, because when I wanted to change my MID to fully convert my One into a Google Edition I had to flash an ENG hboot, after trying to flash the GPE hboot (which succeeded) it was in a QHSUSB_DLOAD mode, but I was able to soft reset it and flash the hboot immediately again.

I had the same. I held down power and volume down (while near a light) and was able to boot to the RUU mode bootloader (with the silver HTC logo)
To the OP:
If you're in a dark room, you'll need to hold the photodetector up to a light in order to do a hard reset by holding the power button. Otherwise the buttons will just continue blinking but it will not reset.
This is a safety measure I believe, so that the phone doesn't accidentally hard reset in your pocket.

this is right way, first VOL DOWN +then Power for 10 secounds : P,will power off no more way i think.
I have hard reset my One dozens of times. From bootloops, stuck at HTC logo, aroma freezes, kernel issues, you name it. I have never held down the volume button. The only times just holding down the power button hasn't worked was while in a dark environment. Holding top of the phone (where the light sensor is) in a light source does the trick.
The only time I hold the volume and power buttons together is immediately after the phone shuts down to get back to hboot and recovery.

This is correct. Holding down volume button is only needed to enter bootloader.

Hold down the power button, touch-sensitive buttons will flash, if you need to go to hboot, then hold down even after the screen goes blank button decrease the volume, if not you press, then just reboot the phone or turn off.
Quick question, what's the small hole next to the audio jack for? Is it the reset button, like instead of removing battery?
Its a microphone.

power and vol down goes to the recovery??
Yes volume down is recovery. Remember it from when I unlocked bootloader. he meant there's option to wipe from there.
For the most part, I haven't had any issues with my phone after lollipop. I'm liking the new features and the new pull down quick access buttons. For some reason though, when I boot into recovery mode, I can't seem to get the menu to pop up. I've tried every combination I can think off with the power button and volume buttons but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
I've recently had to wipe the cache on my Turbo and the recovery mode does seem to have changed. With the phone powered off, hold the power button and volume down button until you get to the bootloader. Use the volume keys to navigate the menu and press the power button to select. Select recovery and you should see the Android icon laying down. Hold the power button FIRST for about two seconds and then tap the volume up button.
Yes, if you're wiping the cache it will take a long time. Do not freak out! :good: The ETA should be about 20+ minutes.
I've done it before on kitkat and know that it takes forever. The first time I did it though I was flipping out cause I thought it was deleting everything haha.
I did finally get it to come up using that method, and your right it has changed. You have to be really accurate when holding the power button and using the vol up arrow because I was trying that before and never could get it to come up.
Anyway thanks for the help.
After lolipop update it is reversed. Hold power button and tap on up volume... For sure
