At this point in time 4g phones cannot be used anywhere other than the united states. In June, Verizon will be sending software updates to all 4g phones that will enable them to work globally though

Hey guys, just curious, as I'm having withdrawals from actually having a decent phone that doesn't make me want to use it as a hockey puck.
I have access to a tmobile Samsung galaxy s2, for a cheap price, if I were to unlock it, would it be capable of running on the Verizon network? Obviously with owning a d3, I have a sim card, would it work? Also, again out of pure curiosity, would an unlocked att phone work on our network?

It all depends on if the phones are capable of running on CDMA/EVDO. Do some research on the phones sorry I'm not much help

Google (your phone model) specs and see if the radio bands are ones that are supported by verizon.

No the SGS2 uses GSM and Verizon uses CDMA. Maybe someone would trade you phones?
Even if the phone has CDMA hardware like any Sprint phone, Verizon will only allow devices on their network if they are authorized for use on Verizon.

I have the XT1058. Mine was locked to AT&T, but I unlocked it with a code. There is some bloatware, but most of it can be disabled without root. The only thing I had to use root to uninstall was the AT&T address book. It should pick up LTE just fine, but I'll let you know for sure later tonight. I'm not in an LTE area right now.
LTE works great.

Ok... So you're thinking about buying an unlocked phone that was originally a Verizon phone but was used on T-Mobile that you want to use on AT&T? That is a bit convoluted, each vendor uses different bits of spectrum and a Verizon phone isn't a pure GSM phone such as AT&T or T-Mobile might have, I would be cautious, why not just get an unlocked AT&T device?
That being said, if it can be used on a GSM network like T-Mobile it should work on AT&T, the problem being that - as I said - each carrier uses different bits of the spectrum.
Save yourself the potential hassle and buy the proper AT&T model.
Yeah i am being cautious I'm passing on it thanks for the responses

I'm thinking about switching to tmobile from verizon as I'm tired of them locking all there devices and you can't do what you want. Just wondering what tmobiles policy about this is. Do they also locked there devices?

Main reason I just made that switch.

Same here, got tired of ATT locking my phone up so i made the switch and haven't been more happy. Tmo at best doesn't even mind the phone being unlocked and rooted, have read comments from people that have exchanged phones using warranty and didn't even bother to restore stock firmware.
