A question for the devs - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hey guys,i was thinking a bit,and i thought, since we have fixed video recording on grouper blobs, couldnt we now get offical roms from grouper blobs? Im mainly thinking about Cyanogenmod, since the majority of officaly supported roms for our phone sync with cyanogenmod repo (like aospa) so can anyone tell me is it possible?

Perhaps it is possible, however the way these Roms are built using Jenkins? I think it's called Jenkins for automated builds, it builds all devices at the same time, as we are using grouper blobs and audio and camera wrappers etc. it may cause dependency issues with other devices and therefore will stop the whole batch of nightlies. Which they will not be happy about or even want.
Also the wrappers are using legacy modules too i think? Which don't like some devices so will need adds/removes i think i might be wrong. The sources will need to be modified with ifneq and endif to filter the adaptations for our device in the Android.mk's? and it would seem like too much trouble for what it's worth. I think CM dropped legacy support as well didn't they? maybe? I'm not too sure about that....
Although i may be wrong, and all corrections will be editted in if i have made a mistake, i don't mean to mislead, still new to this stuff :3
ifneq ($(filter p880,$(TARGET_DEVICE)),)
endif

No such conditionals must be present, it works well with the default build system. It's just a few commits needed and it would work. Otherwise it's usually preferred not to use other blobs than those supplied with the device.

Yeah,i know that some times stock blobs are the best, but don't you think that Grouper blobs are better? And we should be getting offical Paranoid android, since our device is practically a nexus with a lg logo and worse battery,am i right?

Yes, they are and in our case they certainly are the best. No, it's not a Nexus.

I am kidding about the nexus, and i was just wondering why we're not implementing them offically, because now they don't have no more bugs than Cyanogenmod sources.
Sent from my LG-P880 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

they still have issues with camera... special functionalities doesnt work with grouper blobs on e.g. blur lens in google camera... barcodes cant be scanned in a realtime...
i think official blobs and grouper blobs are on the same level of awesomeness now when @Adam77Root will repair rest of camera things grouper blobs will own

Well, the CM team would have to accept the grouper blobs, and I honestly don't think they would. Partly also because it is (theoretically) not allowed to use grouper blobs, and if one would, he/she could file charges for using grouper blobs. So I guess this will never happen.
But, the p880-dev sources are publicly available, so everyone can use them for their ROM. And regarding CM11, I am compiling CM almost every day with the grouper blobs, so this shouldn't be a problem as well

[ROM] Cyanogenmod 7 Source Builds for Incredible (1/11/11) (Big speed increase)

(All credit to Cyanogenmod team and a huge thank you to gridlock32404 for taking over until the official nightlies are back)
The builds I link to now are maintained by gridlock32404 and are built from the most current github code around twice a day. These are NOT put out by the official CM team but they are the same code that they would build from. Please keep any discussions about the older nightlies in the other "CM Nightlies" topic here. So with that, the current CM7 source build:
Recent Changes:
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/
Known Issues:
-USB mounting of any kind (fixed as of gridlock build #28)
-LED blinking (fixed as of gridlock build #40)
-Some people report location issues (I haven't heard any reports lately)
-Rom Manager interaction with current Clockwork Mod is broken (fixed)
-No hardware acceleration yet (appears to be huge graphics speed boost as of build #45 though)
-Camcorder missing 720p (recording should now work though as of build #40)
Installation:
Rom & Gapps Download (Torch app is now included):
http://phones.crackflashers.com/inc/
Download both the Gapps and the CM7 zip files. If you download build 27, you will need a new kernel as the default one bootloops. I will still try to keep the list of known issues up to date with the nightlies so let me know if some bug is either fixed or appears as time goes on. The source builds are really coming together now so I highly encourage users to check them out! Cheers
Rule of thumb: If you are having issues and haven't already, do a clean wipe. Please lets keep bug reports down to what is actually wrong and not issues caused by upgrading from stable, nightly, or and older source build to the newest source build.

[DEV] TW port from I9000 to Nexus S (alpha)

New! Follow my updates on the project on Twitter with the #NexusTW hashtag.
Update: extremely close to an early build now, minor kernel updates needed then I should be able to successfully boot into the ROM. Last time I tried it did boot, but got stuck.
Just setting it up ready for my TW port and anyone else who is interested in helping me port the leaked 2.3.3 firmware for our Nexus S. Started to separate the previous Sense and TW threads upon JD's advice.
In the next few days I'm going to poke around the firmware and see what I can get working. Hopefully bits and pieces like codecs and FM radio can be then used in other custom ROMs (like my ROM, infin1y).

That would be nice might be a bit hacky though, lower FPS or something to compensate for the lack of high speed chip or whatever that's missing.
I'd definitely try to keep as many file systems the same as what's currently on the Nexus S. Obviously sometimes this might not work at the start but I will aim that way.
As far as I can tell at the moment, it wouldn't be too hard to get it to work on the 9023 if it doesn't already. Probably a few different drivers needed but other than that it should be fine.

It's another bit of customization that makes your phone (or screenshots), unique against everyone else's.

The app patches your framework-res, and that file is unique per version of Android (and sometimes by ROM), so I'm guessing it's an app issue. Not being ready for ICS. Since you're on CM9, I'm guessing you could just wait a few weeks, that feature might be built in to the rom itself. (It's built into CM7.)

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] Pons AOKP JB Inc builds

AOKP JB Pons
Goo.Im Download for Kangs
Dev-Host Mirror
(updated only on request)
MediaFire Mirror
(updated only on request)
Evervolv Gapps
(recommended due to their smaller size)
Goo.Im Gapps
Merged Commits for Jellybean
(aka Changelog)
What this ROM is:
Full version of AOKP JB using tiny's/chad's incredikernel synced and compiled from source
Uses only AOKP, and...
missing components from Evervolv
incredikernel source from tiny4579
and my HTC Incredible device tree
Now supports OTA updating via the Goo Manager app
Removed (with my suggested replacements, if any)
SuperSU (I use Superuser compiled from source instead)
Known issues:
PREFACE: I haven't tested this as extensively as CM10, so there may be hidden bugs. It's early, and I'm going for coffee.
Currently doesn't boot. Working on it to get it fixed.
Performance settings, particularly CPU, don't stick
Watching YouTube videos causes the phone to reboot flickers occasionally
Video camera has a very low fps (it stutters)
USB Tether (and the toggle for it) FC's
anymore, let me know
Source/Sauce (in case you missed it)
AOKP (I use their manifest.xml)
Evervolv (I use parts of their frameworks and other repositories to fix qsd8k specific issues)
My device tree for the Inc
Incredikernel by tiny
FAQ:
[Q] Gee, Pons, this here looks fun. How do I compile it myself?
[A]Here ya go, lil guy. Just follow these instructions: How to Compile AOKP JB for the Inc (if you encounter any issues using this to compile, please report here so I can troubleshoot and update if need be)
Why a thread? Basically, a couple of users have asked me to do this, and jellybellys hasn't pushed one out in almost two months, nor responded to his thread in even longer. I did ask him if he plans to continue support via PM, and he said yes (but is busy with a thing called life), so this is only to tide those over who like AOKP over CM10. I'll quit building them when he starts up again.
Credits/Thanks
All credit goes to Cyanogen and the rest of the CM team (who's work Team Kang borrows heavily from), and especially our HTC Incredible maintainers, as listed by the CyanogenMod site: jistone (aka CUViper/This Guy), slayher, and of course, koush. Of course, don't forget about the Evervolv team, who has given our qsd8k device a lot of love. And how could we forget Team Kang, since this is AOKP, after all
In addition, I'd like to thank Albinoman for bringing AOSP JB to the Inc first, Zimeron for bringing CM10 to the Inc first, tiny4579 for his incredikernel, and JellyBellys for bringing AOKP to the Inc first.
For some reason, I have received several requests to put a donation link in my profile. You can always donate to the CyanogenMod project or the Evervolv project or Team Kang, but if you feel you HAVE to donate to me, I've put a link in my profile, and all donations will go towards upgrading my computer, so I can stay on top of this for CM10/11/and beyond.

If anyone runs into bugs that aren't listed in the OP, (especially big ones), please let me know. If I get enough confirmations or if I can replicate it myself, I'll add it to the OP.
Also these probably won't be nightly. I'll look at how AOKP does their releases and their merges, but a tentative schedule will be I'll release when AOKP releases or if there's a lot of merges or if I fix a groundbreaking bug.
It has been running great for me; nice and responsive, stable in what I've done.
One thing that I've noticed is that for some reason, it seems that switching activities holds the possibility to cause some graphical glitches (visually similar to what we see with the camera, but on the UI). Not a big thing, and it doesn't happen every time, but I figured I'd mention it.

Hey, Pons, loving this ROM so far. it is very smooth and responsive. Any idea why performance settings (frequency, governor, and scheduler) don't stick after a reboot? They return to default even though I enabled the set on boot toggle. Not sure if it's a bug, kernel design, or something else altogether. Thanks again.
Anyone else have this problem or any recommendations? Should I be using a third party app like SetCPU?

Going to test this out, then add to bug list once I confirm. Depending on how long work takes tonight, I might or might not get a chance to fix it. It's probably a permission issue somewhere.

Not sure. I never really used AOKP. To double check, you'd have to look at an officially supported device (with WiFi AP capabilities) and see if they have it.

Just tossing in my observations as well, in case it's possibly related: in my instance, the ROM Control app was unable to modify build.prop to change the DPI setting. It told me that it had, but in fact the file was untouched. I just did it with ROM Toolbox instead, but ROM Control offered me no error messages or information.

I hear you there. Granted I come from a Samsung Fascinate with much more development and ease of development (unlocked boot loader, etc.) But this thing Is getting passed on so I can grab something a little more developer friendly and fun to toy with. Every night I get home to a basically new ROM for the Fascinate and I'm spending more time playing on a basically 3 yr old phone most of the time lol

To turn on NFC:
1. Make a Backup of rom after install
2. Install stock rom/return to stock backup.
3. Turn NFC on within the stock ROM.
4. Restore back to CM10 and NFC will be turned on.
Your welcome.

This really sucks I was hopping for a really good 4.2 rom for my M. I wouldn't hold my breath with the Sony ZL, while it looks like a great device, you know how Sony LOVE to lock down their phones/tablets. I have the original Tablet S some was able to root, before Sony pushed out the last firmware which left me in the cold.

Dave is having some trouble getting the framebuffer for our qHD panel going in the 4.2 kernel if I understand correctly, but he's working at it. Once that's set we should see some quicker development because CM10.1 is in pretty good shape for the RAZR HD, which shares a lot of our hardware.

Another quick hint it looks like Hashcode and dhacker29 have set up another github for our QCOM-based devices, while leaving the STS-DEV-TEAM github going for the older OMAP-based products. The new github can be found here: https://github.com/razrqcom-dev-team
