It was enabled in the 4.4 ROM.
And the spec's on Verizon's web site properly reflect the X supports LTE Band 4 and 13. Moto has not yet updated its web page.
how do we check what band our Moto X is on?

You can't. The X does not tell you.
The way I tested is by putting my T-Mobile SIM into my Verizon X, and got T-Mobile LTE. This is because T-Mobile also uses Band 4. With 4.2.2, my X only got Edge on T-Mobile SIM.

Sorry if this has been answered, but I did a forum search and Google search and can't seem to find one. Does the VZW Moto X support Band 4/AWS LTE? If not now, does it have the hardware capability to support it in the future with a software update? Thanks.

Yes, it has Band 4 hardware (source: FCC). Not sure if it was enabled, but I believe it is. A Verizon user could confirm, I'm on T-Mobile.

From what I've seen, it will be enabled in a future radio release once Verizon actually enables the AWS spectrum.

I just ordered a developer edition for Verizon, it only supports Band 13 on 4G LTE as per Motorola's own spec sheet.

I trust the FCC docs that show band 4 support over what is listed other places.

Band 4 is active. I used T-Mobile LTE on my phone. Also as per the Verizon website it states band4.

Hello all,
So I have an XT1058 Moto X (unlocked) and running on T-Mobile's network.
When I used to have my Nexus 4 (still on T-mobile's network), I would seem to have HSPA+ and get speeds of over 10MB/s in my house.
When I use my XT1058 Moto X, I am only getting EDGE service and am getting speeds of 0.05MB/s.
Is this due to the whole not having AWS nonsense?
Thank you.
Yes

T-Mo has not yet "modernized" their network in your area. Until that happens you'll need a T-Mo or GSM Developer Edition Moto X to get HSPA+ speeds.

Thank you sir! This is exactly what I was trying to figure out.
I already sold my XT1058. I will be purchasing the XT1053 on cyber monday then
Yay.
Does anyone know whether the radios packed into Verizon's Moto X will be able to get 4G data in Hong Kong or Singapore? If I walk into a 7eleven, would I just be able to pick up any SIM and get voice + decent data speeds?
Any help would be most appreciated!
Anthony.
Short and simple answer: no. I believe voice and 3G data shouldn't be a problem, but 4G spectra adopted by both Hong Kong and Singapore are not compatible with that used by Verizon.
Here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Yes you can use it on Asia, mostly UTMS / 3G/WCDMA Is using band 2100 mhz, I'm also use Att Moto X unlocked on Indonesia, and Verizon Moto x GSM is already unlock, so you just put you local sim card

I don't think the VZW ones support the 4G data in HongKong. AFAIK, the reogers ones support it.

Thanks for the info. I guess having 3G data will be better than nothing. Maybe i won't blow through my data allowance so quickly. Thanks!

In addition to CDMA for Verizon, the XT1060 Verizon X supports the following bands...
EDGE/GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSPA/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100 with Rates of 42.2 Mbps down and 5.76Mbps up depending on the carrier network you connect to.
LTE band 4(AWS) and 13 <- likely not used outside the USA.
So if your carrier uses those, then you should be able to make use of the Verizon X.
You might also have to adjust the phone's APN settings for your carrier.
If you have a Retail or Moto Maker Verizon X, you might have troubles saving any changes you make to the APN settings due to write protection being enabled. (If you have 4.2.2 or 4.4 on your phone, you can Root and Disable Write Protection with the RockMyMoto, SlapMyMoto and MotoWpNoMo processes). If you have a Developer Edition Verizon X, you can unlock its bootloader which will disable Write Protection and makes it easy to root too (once bootloader unlocked, you can flash custom recovery, and install SuperSU from custom recovery to root).
Ok..so does 4.4.2 finally give us AWS on verizon? Need it badly here in NYC. Delay is activating this band is ridiculous

4.4 on my Verizon Dev X appears to give me AWS LTE... I say that because I get LTE signal when using my T-Mobile USA SIM in my X. And T-Mobile supports Band 4, not Band 13.

4.4 VZ Dev Ed gives me band 4 LTE with a TMo SIM. Have yet to try it since flashing a EU 4.4.2 file (kept my 4.4 VZ radios, so I can't imagine it would change much, but Play Store recognizes my device as XT1052 now, which I find funny).
What app do you use to check the band?

I have nothing that will display the LTE Band. I would love to find one that does.
For me, its process of Elimination.. VZW X initially supported LTE Band 13, which T-mobile doesn't support. T-Mobile does support LTE Band 4, which is the only other VZW LTE Band. (VZW lists Band 13 and 4 on their page for the X). Since I get LTE with my T-Mobile SIM it must be LTE band 4.
If you get T-Mobile LTE in any device, it supports AWS LTE, period.
I understand the process of elimination but on my SGS3 it would give me a band number (Band 13 in my case) but my Moto X gives me no band number. Is there a way to find out what band it is actually connected to?

As far as I know, no, not on vanilla Android. I also own a Galaxy S4 and what you're talking about is integrated into TouchWiz.
The Moto X used to tell you what Band it was on...this was prior to the Kitkat update. After that, I have been unable to find an app that tells me what band it is using. If anyone else has ideas, let me know. (BTW I am not rooted.)
Hi,
I have a Verizon Moto X Dev. Edition that I would like to use on T-Mobile network. So far I'm only able to get voice and data by disabling LTE and usting H+. Is there a way to use my XT1060 as a XT1053? in other words are the two models hardware different? or can i install the T-Mobile software and my phone so that I can use T-Mobile's LTE and have voice and data?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Best regards,
Rene
