Hi All,
I had made couple of changes to my lg optimus 2x p990, when i had rooted it long back.
some of the changes are related to : CPU clock speed , RAM optimisation and couple more i don't remember all of them.
and later i had flashed original stock rom. this stock rom is creating issues now and i am not sure those settings still holds good for the stock rom. whether settings get reset or still stays intact in stock rom also.
my concern is :
can i set all the cpu ram and other settings to its factory default. i know, i should not play with processor and
ram capabilities. but to check i did and now facing some issues like. backlight wont turn off sometimes.
battery runs out very fast.display comes back after screen locked.
i am not new to this root , flash or recovery and i understand this concern well before posting in forum.
does, flashing stock rom will reset everything or do we have any tool which can bring back the entire mobile to very new state. the state to which factory reset
thanks forum contributors. we live with technology which sometime demands better knowledge. hence asking all your help to get this rectified.
in TWRP, delete user data partition 1.5 GB one. it'll reset all customized settings. flashing stock ROM will also do it for you
Do a full wipe via recovery or even write the bootloader and recovery anew and repartition via option 4 in the awesome AIO toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
will try today

Hello guys.
Before I go into it, let me start by saying I'm a complete noob at these things.
A couple of months ago (following guide on the net), I rooted my Optimus P990 and installed my first custom ROM.
Tonight I looked on the net to look at how to restore my device to stock.
I followed this guide.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
It didn't work!!!!
Although the phone is still working, I have completely lost internet connection on network and wireless.
I'm worried about trying anything else in case I mess my phone up!!
Can anyone out there help me restore back to stock in noob dialogue??
Thanks in advance
Make a backup of everything.
Then go to recovery and wipe everything!
Perform a fresh install of your current rom + kernel combination.
Boot phone and everything should work now don't forget to restore your backups.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Will try it tomorrow.
Stupid question but what is the kernal?
Every rom comes with stock kernel, which is more or less a sort of 'driver' for your phone. Anyway, you don't really have to know what it is, only what you can do with it.
Custom kernels allow you to overclock your CPU frequency, this will make your phone faster and smoother. For example, stock kernel only allows your CPUto clock at the standard 1.0 Ghz, and custom kernels will let you overclock to 1.5 Ghz.
Custom kernels also allows you to Undervolt your phone. This means that you can turn down the voltages used at each CPU frequency. This will improve battery life. Custom kernels do much more things... But these two are the most important.
Look at my signature for the ETaNa Kernel, and read it for more information.
Ah ok thanks.
Is there a stock ROM that your aware of?
Sorry. When I say stock I mean revert my phone back to how it was when I first got it.

Have you tried restoring it using LG's PC Suite?
No not yet. I'm currently using a custom ROM. Cant remember which one it is.
Would an update via LG's PC Suite overwrite this firmware??
To reach your goal you must flash with nvflash technique, search in dev section thread about this. It will restore a stock phone, erasing recovery and root.
Lg PC suite won't be able to flash over a modified phone.
Ok. Thanks. What's the risk to my phone?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
If you want to restore your phone to stock then head over to the MoDaCo site and look for a pinned topic in section on the LG O2X entitled "NVflash stock ROM release."
Following the instructions will restore the stock ROM from March 2011 to your phone.
Hi Guys! I have a Galaxy S1 (I-9000). I've used a custom ICS rom until yesterday, but it was slow, and drained my battery very quick. So I XXJW4 (as far as I know this is the latest official release with value pack), but there are wierd issues (very quick battery draining, wifi disconnecting, doesn't remember my mobile network settings, sluggish browser, etc).
I did the usual stuff like cleaning cache/dalvik/factory reset. Usually I like hacking around with theese things, but now I just want to use my phone, so I would like to restore it to a "very" official state. I'm not sure about the technical details, but afaik some of the update packages are not completely reinstall everything. So what is the correct way to clean my phone so it would look like a brand new one like it has never been modded?
I think I need to repartition. Even if I don't want to change the file systems I would prefer to have a fresh start so no previous data could remain. After that I would need a firmware that contains everything (kernel, bootloader (?), modem, dbdata, factory file system, etc etc) I've already found a lot of roms out there, but I'm not certain witch one will do the job. After I installed the value pack update I realized that dbdata was not part of that package, and I had to find one after googling for a while. So I'd really appreciate some pointers
So that's my story, to sum up the question is how to restore a galaxy s to an older version my making sure everything is completely wiped, overwriten, reinstalled, etc.
Thanks in advance.
go to sammobile dot com webpage and search what firmware you need and download. Flash this rom with odin.
Use Odin to flash the.rom that you like
why dun try ICS infinitum by bhu1...amazing,,...
It is not true. In the past i flashed with odin and it did not even remove all of the apps i had installed with 2.2 ...

Okay, let us be more specific:
- format /sdcard
- format /system
- wide data/factory reset
- flash with odin
Nothing and I mean nothing will be left on your phone. That process formats everything you need to in order to wipe your phone.
Good luck!
Read this https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-flashing-to-original-rom.46/
Value pack made my phone weird to.
just download some original Rom and flash via odin that will work
Hi Seniors,
This became like a mystery for me..please help me to solve it.
Issue is like this if I install any custom or stock Gingerbread ROMS by phone works like a butter, no issue at all I can say.
But when I install any ICS or JellyBean ROM's it starts creating pain in my neck.
If I am using my phone it never restarts itself but when I lock my phone screen and keep it my pocket M finding that my phone is restarting into recovery mode itself.
Now here comes the strange part...If I play music using any music player and lock my screen it works fine, its not restarting itself ...but once I stop that music player and lock my handset screen in idle mode it goes to recovery in few secs
This only happens if I upgrade to ICS or JellyBean ROM's
One more issue...my wifi works fine If am having GingerBread install on my phone but when I install ICS/JB I cant even start it.
Have tried a lot to get it fixed....but
.....Even I want to taste ICS/JB Rom's like u guys...Please Help Your Rookie.
Thanks & Regards

Hey EwOkie,
Thanks for your courtesy mate...really appreciate it,
So here we go,
I had stock GB 2.3.6 ROM installed on my phone ;ie GT-I9000_XEU_I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_I9000XXJW4.zip,
after that I rooted my phone using CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS,
then I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cashe and installed GamerzRom v11.0 which is a GB ROM,
so far no issue...wifi is working fine, phone is not at all giving me any auto restart issue...its was working like a charm,
then I found ICS_F4k_MOD_v4.0.4_I9000_r3.zip which is an ICS ROM,
I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache, the I installed ICS_F4k_MOD_v4.0.4_I9000_r3.zip using CWM Recovery console,
it was booted fine to home screen...later on I tried connecting my phone using my wifi router I found that WiFi was not switching on at all,
I locked my phone using lock button then after few secs I am finding my phone is restarting itself in recovery mode,
restarted my back to normal and again the same issue,
I ignored it,
Then I downloaded C-RoM Mix v7 Latest 4.2.1.zip in which had a wifi bug fix,
I did factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache,
I flashed it using clockworkmod recovery and had eactly that same issue which I had on ICS ROM,
for WIFI issue I tried flashing wififix.zip and found no resolution,
my phone went into boot loop of Samsung Logo,
then I flashed it back to original stock rom GB 2.3.6 and my phone started working like the way it should be.
This is the whole story
I moved from GB to ICS and then to JB.
Seriously brother I have no idea why its causing this weird issue...this is why I am looking for help from AndroidXperts on XDA site
Kindly help me to sort it out.
Thanks & Regards

Ok first up thanks for the info....
When doing a complete wipe before installing another rom make sure you wipe all 4 :
Data / Factory Reset
Cache Partition
Dalvik Cache
Battery Stats
Unless the Developer for the Rom States otherwise.
I know that there are a few ICS Roms that have a lot of bugs please check Info on them before Downloading
Should tell you whats working and whats notto save hassle
As I really only use GB Roms (my own preference)
Might help to try different Modems for your Romas this can help signal/network strength, where do you stay?
Yeah flashing back to 2.3.6 will work all the time as its basically stock.
No matter what Custom Rom I try I always flash JVU 2.3.6 then Root it > then the Custom Rom I want
I never just overwrite it with another Rom...
Hopefully someone with the same Rom as yourself may help as I dont want to give wrong info ....
Or Ask on the Rom site the issue your having with it
If you do need my help ... just ask

Hi EwOkie,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I am followed everything what u just mentioned in ur reply allready...but no go
Me & my GF we both have i9000 and I have followed same installation process on both the phones...her phones works like a charm but mine is like an incomplete soul.
One more thing mate,I really dont understand this ......can you tell me what difference it makes to have JVU 2.3.6 or some other version...how exactly its works....u know what I mean to say.
No idea why we use 2.3.6 JVU with CF Root (Kernel for Recovery) we just do ,, suppose its the best to start with before flashing a Custom Rom
So your partners phone works ok and yours doesnt.. did you try using the PIT File and re-partition?
Check my signature at bottom its a HOW TO Guide incase you get lost
As I says I dont have a lot of experience with ICS or JB Roms as the ones i flashed in the past werent as stable and had some bugs in them
Thats why i stuck with GB Roms
plz help me
today i install a custom rom lollipop in sony xperia c3 dual
but now my phone refused to start even same issue recovery mode... now my phone completely death.. when i try to start it red +green blink but fast mode work easily .. & when i connect my phone to charger it restart it self again & again ... its show only sony logo and its restart again ..plz help me
ive had the phone since at&t had it on display. rooted it and had various roms for the last couple years and never had any serious issues. last night i flashed jellycream v2 and then did a factory reset inside the rom. the phone prompted that it would reboot twice and that it was normal. it rebooted into twrp and did nothing afterwards. i rebooted it from the recovery and all it did was reboot back into recovery. i decided to flash a different version of twrp and still the same. then flashed clockwork and still got the same result. i wiped the bootloader and basically went through the rooting process again. flashed the latest version of twrp and the phone is still only booting into recovery.
i am at a loss because this is as far as my knowledge goes. its like the phone is stuck still trying to wait for that factory reset from the jellycream rom or something and it wont do anything else but load TWRP.
If factory hard reset will not work (with phone off, press power and volume up together for some seconds. You might want to try also holding home on the touch screen.) flashing firmware will fix it unless you have hardware failure, which I doubt.

Part 1 can be tricky, so take your time and get that right before proceeding.

so far i get the grey LG screen with 'booti mmc_read xxxx' at the upper left with the hard reset. it only takes 2 seconds to show up but the phone shuts off if i continue to hold the power and volume buttons. ill read up on that link here.
I missed that you wiped bootloader. You need that . So you could maybe just install the wkpark bootloader in recovery. You would do 1 and 3 here (1.25a file is down the page)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39130435
I think Jellycream actually requires you have it, if I remember correctly.
Not sure why factory reset would cause that issue, but it will definitely not start without bootloader.
Flashing firmware will also write the (stock) bootloader if that does not do it. It will also reinstall the OS if system is corrupt or missing.
I can't find the thread for Jellycream2. Would you post a link? Are you sure it is for P920/P925 (same device, one is AT&T branded. I have the Thrill P925). If it is not for those device numbers, you may need xbsall's unbrick guide.
Also, if Jellycream2 is based on ICS and you were on a GB ROM, you would likely have needed to first upgrade to ICS and then install the ROM.
I'm just trying to understand why a factory reset could brick your phone...

ok basic rundown of what i did in the last year;
when first played around with rooted it about a year ago i used all-in-one to do it. i had already upgraded to ics using the lg mobile support tool prior to rooting. rooting went off fine until i installed a Beats Audio app from the play store. when the phone rebooted after it would be stuck at the grey LG logo. i didnt know what to do so i used twrp and wiped the whole phone. then i used all-in-one and flashed the ICS bootloader and did the flash kernel 4 fix or something its one of the last options to do. then using twrp i flashed ICS_V20_P20, Stock_V20P_Rooted, and a Thrill Update, the phone rebooted fine in an ICS rom but it ran like complete ****, so i tried various roms and the one i settled with was called OptimusRS V1. i used that up until 2 days ago when i flashed the jellycream rom.
after i factory reset that i tried to flash the different wkpark bootloader and twrp that came with the megatron tool hoping that would fix the issue. but it did so i reflashed the original twrp and ics bootloader from all-in-one.
failed to mention this before but i tried 3 different recovery files in between each attempt and it would flash and reboot fine but the phone would still do the same thing and just load recovery.
ill find links when i get off work today. thats the basic history of the phone though.
Hmm. Stil not sure then . Maybe a corrupt zip or you wiped something important. Flashing with LG Flashtool should recover it. And always make a Nandroid backup before installing anything from recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392309
thats the jellycream rom.
im downloading the files for your xbsa rom at the moment. i do remember yesterday when i used the megatron tool i saw an option to flash the stock bootloader and recovery. i tried it but all i got was the pink LG logo then a security error message below it and the phone shut off.
Oh, ok, OptimusRS's ROM.
Hmm, I thought v20 was GB or something... If it is not ICS then that would be the problem. Also it does say there you need wkpark bootloader for that ROM.
Also, xbsall's v28B includes recovery but it is in system partition. I don't know if that ROM requires you install it from recovery partition or not.
If you still want Jellycream you should be able to flash xbsall's ICS v28B (the normal partitions one, not large partitions), then install wkpark bootloader 1.25a in recovery, then the ROM.

well that breaks down that a bit better. my progress at the moment is step f6. when i connect the phone nothing installs though. it just reconnects and disconnects every second or so. im guessing its because i already have those files. dunno though. i cant get my pc to install the adb drivers for the life of me when the phone is connected in recovery mode.it sees the new hardware just cant find the files.
actually i got it. for some reason the phone wouldnt install anything until i put the battery back in at that step. i continued successfully to step M. the phone is setting up my google account at the moment.
will flashing the baseband be necessary if my apn and sim work like the phone is now? my provider is h20(canadian i heard) but im the usa.
HUGE thanks regardless
Cool :thumbup::beer:
The no battery part is just for driver install, which is fiddly for this phone. Sometimes trial and error is a factor.
The baseband you have now would be the one you had previously. If it works, no problem. The one in the v28B pack is supposed to be optimized for the v28B .bin file, but hey, whatever works.

im only getting E for data. i tried to flash a baseband meant for at&t but it says failed after about 90 seconds. still no 4g though. i did flash the xbsav8 before i set my apn up. i might just go with an optimusRS rom again though. i was happy with it. probably not jellycream this time.
Baseband fail after 80 or so sec is normal. It means it worked. Check your baseband in android settings/about phone.
You might try speed test app to compare actual speed. ATT 4G icon is a lie on this phone IMO.
Now that your pc is set up you can flash any P925/920 bin. Kdz files (combo of bin and fls, there is another tool for flashing those files) can be extracted into separate bin and fls, but I have not done it. The advantage is you can flash baseband separately.
Xbsalls vX3D (see his page) with the P925G fls file gives me 4G icon on Straight Talk in the US, but I like his vR3D better, and I can't tell a speed difference, honestly.
I have not actually measured the speed in either, however.
And for either of those ROMs, you must flash his large partition version of v28B first...very important.
oh its definitely like 2g speeds. its pretty slow. i tried using my providers app and website and its saying the phone i have isnt registered to them anymore so it might be just that. if thats the case ill just bring it in so they can do that for me. when i rooted it the first time i wasnt getting any data and they had to re-register the phone to get it to work right.
my baseband says OMAPP4430/XMM6260. for comparison and/or confirm differences. i have no idea lol.
side question though; my sdcard still has recovery files for the optimusRS v1 rom i had on it. i really liked the setup i had when i made the recovery for it. Im tempted to reinstall it but im really not too sure if itll work or worse harm my phone again.
Lots of variables, but you must remember that xbsall's P940 recovery app he he uses has recovery in system partition. The recovery you had before was probably in recovery partition. They write restores from two different places. Probably you would get an error, but not positive. Understanding that may take some Googling...
If you try it, back up before trying to restore the old backup. Then you could hopefully restore if the restore fails, know what I mean?
Probably the safest thing is to use the all in one tool to install recovery in recovery partition and use that one to restore backup.
I do know when I have restored backups, I have wiped Dalvik, Cache, and Factory Reset (in recovery) and then restore. Then it works. Some people wipe system too.
You can usually flash to recover from a problem, but then you have to set your phone up again
Well I recovered everything. All settings and personalized stuff. Just everything. Everything is running normal again. Just now my data is saying im using an h20 microcell instead of just H20 with a 4g connection. This 2g stuff is for the birds. I'm almost thinking the firmware we flashed has something to do with it. The phone is functional though. Just slow and no mms. I haven't been able to find much on the forums about it. I'll poke around more tomorrow.
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
I'd try another baseband.
Hi !
I'm on a french GT-N7000 on stock french JB (updated OTA a few month ago) and not rooted and stock recovery.
I'm not sure of the baseband version, I think it's the XXLT5 but I can't check it.
My phone had 0% battery and shut down, since then when I boot it it's stuck on the glowing SAMSUNG logo with the menu and return buttons backlit.
I still have the download mode and the recovery menu.
What should I do?
I looked up a lot of threads but I couldn't find one with this exact issue.
Install philz kernel from external sd card. Then boot into recovery and perform a factory reset if you are not worried about the data.
Actually, I should be on the XXLSO, is there a way to check it?
Whould there be a way to keep my data ? (some contacts and maybe some photos)?
I'm not realy up to date with rooting etc. on android, it has been 2 years I didn't do anything (I played with a nexus One), the kernels are not the same anymore but I couldn't find the exact one that fits my version.
Can I try an other one?
Edit : should I try the LSZ version ?
You can use any of the updated JB kernels. LSZ is a good option.
2. Wiping data will not delete photos videos or documents stored in the internal storage.
Ain't your contacts synced to Google or samsung cloud?
Thanks my phone works now !!!
Good to know that any kernel works.
I didn't want to try it before but now I'll go further and will try custom firmwares.
