Thanks. That's what I was confused about. I wasn't sure if I could use that one to restore MJ5 to MJ5. The reason I needed to is because when I unrooted kingo with kingo, I couldn't reroot and the custom lock won't go away.

Yeah the restore would remove the custom padlock if you decide not to root. Would wipe everything though so be sure to back up important stuff.

kernels dont give you root. to have root, you need to flash the latest supersu whenever you flash a rom. otherwise, you wont have root. this is the latest http://download.chainfire.eu/735/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.48.zip
So do I just go to twrp and use the install menu for that?

yes. pick it, let it flash, then just reboot. when flashing a kernel, dont worry about it. after flashing a rom, you always have to flash the latest supersu.
I just did that and it still says root access is broken. I am running cm12 and Franco kernel

ah, now you tell us. in cm root can be enabled/disabled. you just needed to enable it. but now its too late, because you flashed supersu. just reflash your rom, then enable root in your settings.

Just flash CM12, Gapps, custom kernel and superSU.zip in that order in recovery and you`re done.
If its not working look in developer options and enable it.

And in order to access developer options tap the build number 5 times and you should see it in settings.
Yeah I figured it out. I guess I have to flash the kernel and supersu after cm and gapps like gee2012 said. That option wouldn't show up, even when I searched and tapped on the result.

Not to my knowledge. Always make a backup before modding your phone.
Yeah, I should have. Thanks
Update: I got really lucky and used "elliwigy's" G925VVRU1AOE2_G925VVZW1AOE2_VZW.ZIP and odin the phone. What did you know my I didn't loose anything from it.
I'm about to experiment with my build.prop regarding memory management. One thing I'm not sure I understand with Flashfire backups is restoring after a boot loop. I assume i need to odin back to stock, then ping-pong root again, then load Flashfire and restore my backup? I hope I'm missing something and there is an easier way. Sure miss having TWRP!

That sounds right. When restoring with flashfire you obviously have to have root but also you need to be on the same build that you were on when you did your backup in the first place. I don't believe you can be on OC3 and restore a OE2 backup.

Not out yet. Waiting, but it seems that your post has been looked at 155 times so far today...
What would you do with it anyway? If you Odin it, you won't have root when you get done and if you had root, it won't be there after....POOF...
MAYBE WHEN IT COMES OUT, SOMEONE MIGHT BE ABLE TO PRE-ROOT IT, BUT THEN IT WILL JUST BE CRAPPY STOCK ANYWAY....
I just want the original .zip file to put on the external card and update manually.
When this file does actually come out, do you think it can be used on the pre-installed OF3 firmware? I Realllllly need firmware OF3 or above... Thanks!

NEED??? LOL. Well if it stock OF3, then you can update it because you probably do not have root. If you have root with OF3, that means you used @muniz_ri procedures, and he said a while ago that 5.1.1 probably wont be rootable, but he also recently said he will look at it when/if the file is available , whenever that may be (I am watching several sites). If you are not rooted, you can always try to update thru OTA, when that is available. I will not download it because once it downloads it just updates and that ain't gonna happen on my phone and also because I am on a custom rom and am not willing to even try it unless he can come up with a rooted version which will keep the BL at OA1 so one can go back. For me this would only be a test to see if it was any better than 5.0, but soon after I would go back to my beloved TMS5 3.0 rom. IT'S GREAT!!!

download the .cfg file, rename it update.zip, put it on the root of your external sd card. Then power off the phone and hold vol up+home+power until you see recovery in the corner, then let go of power and volume and keep olding home till you see the recovery menu. use volume down to choose update from sd card and power to select it then find the update.zip file and select it. BTW this will wipe your data so backup whatever you need before hand.

if you are on Kit Kat, then update to OC4 using
Update to oc4 using what? And later, how to update to oi5?
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900A) device with Cricket Wireless service.
I upgraded to OC4 by downloading the OTA update and tried doing the same to OI5 from the link shared in this thread and received 'E: Error in /..../package.zip (status 7)' the following preceding the error. 'Package expects build fingerprint of samsung/...../G900AUCU4BOF3' and then says I'm on G900AUCU3BOC4, which is accurate.
Device is not rooted, nor have any system files been altered.
These are the listed updates on the AT&T website. I don't see OF3 update.
Released 2015 OCT 22: G900AUCU4COI5
Released 2015 AUG 12: G900AUCU2AOA2
Released 2015 JUL 1: G900AUCU4BOF2
Released 2015 APR : G900AUCU3BOC4
Why are they expecting OF3 if they've only released OF2 and OA2 after the OC4 update?
And ... anyone else running into this?
UPDATE: As others have said (from searching) Best Buy can do the update at no charge. That's what a Samsung rep told me and also said since I have the device from AT&T, but service through Cricket Wireless, I will have to get updates from Best Buy and will not get them OTA.
UPDATE2: Saturday I went to Best Buy, they updated my phone to OF3 and I went home and used the file posted earlier in the thread to update to 5.1.1. No issues.

a factory reset doesn't give you the original rom, the update will still be there, the downgrade is a very tricky process, and i answered you only because you asked, but i repeat myself, you should really keep your tab the way it is now, i regretted having done the update for months until someone finally found a way to roll-back to kitkat.
With lollipop you'll have:
-memory leak (can be fixed anyway).
-overheating.
-crashes.
-apps closing themselves or refusing to launch.
-random reboots of the tab itself.
-some users even had clock issues on the tab (too slow).
-others had battery life issue (tablet discharging too fast).
