Hello everyone. I hope this topic hasn't been covered yet, but it looks like I'm the only one who encountered the following problem:
A few months ago my Wi Fi suddenly started to behave strangely. I was connected to my router at the time, but there was no data coming through. My phone didn't show up on my network anymore, though the phone itself kept saying it's connected. When I turned the Wi Fi off and back on, it was stuck on the "Activating Wi Fi" screen - I still could use my phone, but Wi Fi wouldn't turn back on.
Some time ago (I can't tell how long) I chose to reboot my phone (I don't know why), and - my Wi Fi was working again. But not for long. This happened a few times now, and every time Wi Fi was only working for 24 hours maximum.
The funny thing is: Bluetooth and GPS seem to suffer from the exact same problem - meaning when Wi Fi screws up, those two stop working also. I can't tell if NFC is affected, since I don't really use it.
Since m bootloader is unlocked, I can't get my phone fixed on warranty (not even here in Germany). Factory reset or flashing original firmware didn't work either.
I'm really getting desperate. I *can* use my phone on mobile data, that's not the problem, but since I have limited traffic (luckily I just get my bandwith cut when I'm over my traffic) I would really like Wi Fi to work again. Also, some apps even require Wi Fi to get their latest updates, and OTA updates of Android (since KitKat is just around the corner) wouldn't work either.
Does anyone have a solution for my problem that I can do myself and - if possible - don't cost me money? Otherwise I'd have to revive my old Samsung Galaxy S...

Hi everyone,
I was driving from Wash DC to Montreal about 3 weeks ago. Once I got to Syracuse NY my N1 just froze. I took off the battery and then it wouldn't boot. ( I was running frf50 + froyo radio since the first day it was leaked). I thought maybe a routine wipe would fix it. It didn't work. I was out of options and had to wait until I get to montreal to use a laptop and see whatsup. Once in Montreal I downloaded a Rordriguez Froyo and the phone booted up. Now the problem started. Wifi doesn't work. Whenever I turn it on it says unable to scan for networks and then another error pops up saying " Sorry! Activity wifi settings (in application settings) is not responding." I tried a million different roms and radios and the problem persists... Yesterday I flashed another froyo rom and wifi worked and actually connected to my home WLAN. Then suddenly it stopped working again... Can anybody help me? this is so frustrating, especially since I have only 2 bars of EDGE in my basement. I think it might be the Wifi driver that is causing all this. If somebody can link me with the Wifi driver I might be able to fix this problem...
Thanks!
PS: All radio related stuff work ( bluetooth, 3G...)
if you flashed a lot of roms....and it didnt work, chances are its a hardware issue, not a wifi driver issue as thats reinstalled with all roms
Hello there,
As a newcomer, I found out these foruns filled up with great information and guys willing to help, so came here to ask for some help ....I am both excited and dissapointed with my brand new Milestone. Bought the handset about 5 days ago, which came with Android 2.0. Then updated it straight away to version 2.1 via "Motorola Software Update". So far so good ...here´s the problem I am facing :
While connected to wi-fi or 3g(issue is easier to notice due to 3G icon at the task bar, which points out in those small arrows data that is being sent/received) phone stops to receive data out of the blue. All connectios are cut off(it also happens when the handset is locked up). Some basic trouble shooting i did:
- tested all pcs connected to the same wi-fi network. No issues detected for these
- reset wi-fi router configs. Didn´t work
- tried other wi-fi router. Presented same issue
- swapped another carrier chip to test 3g connection. Presented the same issue
- tested my GSM chip on ther phone. Worked properly
- Reset phone to default settings. This time the connection took longer to drop, like 30 minutes, instead of the usual 10 minutes. After the first drop, it´s started behaving the same way again.
It seems pretty much that there an issue going on here (obvious...hehehe). I am considering the following:
- Might be a software issue. So, right now i am downgrading it back to 2.0 version, check if it works properly and then move to 2.1 hopping to get the issue fixed.
- Use retailer warranty and claim for a new phone =/
Could you guys help me out ??
Thanks in advance and Best Regards !!!
Guys, after downgrading version to 2.0, phone stills presenting the same issue. I think it´s turning into hardware issue =/....does anyone have a clue about it?
Thanks and Best Regards!!!
Hi
After much playing around I have my phone upgraded to 2.2
I had to restart to get it work but all appears ok.
The only problem I have is I seem to have lost my connection with the 3 network, Wi Fi is ok.
I will have to put my programs etc back on but before I do that would like my 3 internet working again, has anybody any ideas of what process I need to follow.
Thanks
Martin
I am using an HTC One with Rogers. Ever since the KitKat 4.4 upgrade, my WiFi doesn't work properly. I am not able to connect to WiFi access points. Attempting to connect to any WiFi network will give me the error "Failed to connect to network". I cannot turn off the WiFi either. The button will grey out for a while, and then remain in the On state. Rebooting the phone will give me back control of WiFi for a while, but it will soon not work again.
Also, since the 4.3 upgrade, my Google Text-to-Speech will continuously crash when I use Google Maps for navigation. Once it crashes, Maps will not be able to read out street names. I was hoping the 4.4 upgrade would fix this issue, but this is still broken. My wife's phone has the exact same issue.
No one else has seen any similar issues with their One?
have you tried factory reset?
My wifi says turning on but never turns on after i updated to kitkat

I have similar problem . my is Sgh I337 . After updating my phone wifi worked for a day and it stopped working permanently . It says turning on but never turns on and never turns off . Any solution ?
So this actually happened about 3 months ago or 4
i was just using my phone to text a friend with messenger, when the WiFi suddenly turned off.
i restarted the phone hoping that would fix it but it didn't .
It is stuck on "turning the WiFi on"
i tried hard resetting the phone but it didn't fix it, tried flashing other roms, flashing stock roms even and taking a backup from my brother's phone ( we happen to both have a GT-I9000) and restoring it in my phone and it didn't help either .
I went to a repair shop to check the hardware and they said nothing seemed off.
So i'm really confused, i need a solution for this.
been using phone's data since then though.
and i'm currently using paranoidandroid 4.6-beta4
android version 4.4.4
and btw
in settings it shows that the wifi mac address is unavailable if that's means something
