Hi Guys I flashed a Miui rom. But there was some error and even when I wiped/factory reset and installed cm11 rom on top of it showed successful installation. Now when I pressed the reboot system the phone just never turned on. I also checked my version is the GT-S5830 normal one. I can flash cm11 earlier so it that.I mean cm11 booted when I tried the initial builds but now it just won't power on.
Also I tried using the connecting to PC and then tried this method. But I could only get a port if I pressed all the keys including vol up.
Even on odin it shows an error. can you help me fix it?. Attaching the photos
Sorry for tagging you guys . I think only you can help

At the time of flashing Miui rom, were you using CWM 6? Can you also specify which CM 11 you flashed? Are you able to go to Recovery Mode? Also it seems you are going to Emergency Download Mode rather than the Download Mode. You go to Emergency Download Mode by holding down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode" and you go to Download mode by holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…". Please make sure you are going to the Download Mode. Now even if odin starts flashing in Emergency Download Mode, you will get the "setup connection" error in the end. If you can't bring you phone to Download Mode, try USB Jig as last resort. As for the odin error, try changing the USB ports. Try reinstalling the drivers. As a final resort to odin error, try to flashing odin in another pc. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

Thank You for your precious replies. I am not able to power on my phone in any way. Nothing appears on my screen. Also I used CWM 5 modded version of cm11 and flashed miui and cm11 on cwm5. I tried using the method Viper mentioned. But as I said odin won't even give me a yellow port with this. I used Jig but nothing appears on my screen. Also I gave the phone to a shop for Jtag. But I don't know why even they couldn't fix it.
It happened to me a year ago. I flashed a wrong rom. After the Jtag the stock rom was back. But now it doesn't come back. Please help. I only flashed my phone compatible rom and even that bricked it. And yes about the cm11 version. I think it was the KK for All

Guys I am sorry to disturb you all !!!
First of all it is an AT&T unlocked Galaxy S Captivate phone in India.
It had UCKK4 ROM.
So I tried to flash CornKernel_UCKK4_v70A.tar via odin 1.85 rightly placed the file in PDA.
The ODIN failed and gives the error, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and Try again" :crying:
I will be highly thankful to helps. :good::good:
Before flashing the kernel, I'm assuming you had put the phone into download mode, correct?
If not, make sure you shut the phone down, then hold Vol- and Vol+ and insert the USB cable. Once it's in download mode, try flashing again.
If that doesn't work, take a look at the "Captivate Connection Issues and Download Mode Help" thread in my signature for some more ideas.

Thanks for your reply.
I had been in recovery mode. With drivers installed.
I have tried Vol+/Vol- method about 10 times but always have the same screen.
NO DOWNLOAD mode.
Even tried the jig I used for SGS but now with jig also the download mode is not coming.
Btw I am very very thankful for your reply.
That's odd. A jig that's putting 301 kOhm between pins 4 and 5 should kick you into download mode no matter what.
What exactly happens when you hold V+/V- and insert the USB cable? And are you doing it with the phone completely off?
Also, if you are able to get into recovery, is it stock recovery (with 4 options to choose from) or ClockworkMod Recovery (with about 7-9 options to choose from)?
If it's Clockworkmod recovery (CWM), mtcarey released a CWM-flashable version of his kernel that you could try.
Just to be sure...
Battery Out
USB Plugged in
Hold vol+ and vol-
Insert battery
Should take you into download mode

I am using jig when the phone is off but battery in place. Some how I get the same screen.
To get recovery mode? All the buttons (V+/- and Power) pressed simultaneously. Right?
To be frank its my friends phone. I got SGS. :silly:
Attached in next reply.

You can use that screen as a download mode screen. Open odin first, then plug phone in while it is already at that screen.

The instructions aren't necessarily wrong, it's dependent on whether you have the I9000 or I897 bootloaders. The steps you've described are specific to the I9000 bootloaders - the steps mentioned above are for the I897.

If you're wanting to try ICS, take a look in the development section. There are several roms to try out - just look around and see if any of them look appealing to you.
Just as a word of caution, look for the "Encryption Unsuccessful" thread and read about that error message in there. ICS roms have a small chance of causing a serious issue for your phone, and it would be good to make sure you know the risks before flashing.
Other than that, just know that you'll probably have to flash your first ICS rom twice - once to set up the framework, and the second time to fully install the rom.

Try using 1.85. I believe that is the newest version. Make sure you're using a good cable. One of my captivates would always take 2 tries to flash kernels. Not sure why.
You could also use the one-click found in the EXE folder of the utility in my signature

Hi
I've been having problems with the HOME button on my phone. I've been running PA2.51 on it so thought it was probably the ROM. I went to flash the newer 2.99 ROM from here:

After I followed the instructions I rebooted the phone and now I'm stuck with loads of FC! I can't even reboot into recovery or download mode because the stupid HOME button doesn't work.
I don't know what to do??
Can anyone help or advise please? I'd want to get my files off the thing if I can't save it sigh

Blank Screen
I installed the wrong cwm on mine and when I tried to boot into recovery all I got was a blank screen, so I waited for a bit, then pulled the battery, turned phone on and nothing but a blank screen, tried getting into DL mode and nothing, but when I plug it into the PC, it wants to recognize as a modem instead. I think its toast, I even made a jig, tried getting into DL mode and nothing, the phone is on just no screen, it charges the battery when plugged into usb port but nothing on the screen. It had worked until I flashed cwm on it...

why don't you just enter into stock recovery and factory reset the phone , you can also flash the stock rom with odin after puting your phone in download mode . to go to recovery vol+ and vol- and power on the phone at te same time

Hello everyone,
I've been using this community for a while, but this is my first post. One or two months ago I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and installed Imaginary ICS Final along with CWM Recovery 5.0.2.6. Everything worked fine but today I decided to update to a 4.4 custom rom. I installed CM 11 from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2659269, but after selecting my language a popup apeared which said "The setup aplication has stopped working", so I looked for another ROM. I found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684893, but it required TWRP Recovery to be installed. I downloaded it, copied it to my SD and tried to install it form CWM 5.0.2.6.
Now, my phone goes into a blue screen whether I try to boot normally or into the recovery menu and I don't now how to solve it. Since I can boot into download mode, I've tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize my phone. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks a lot in advance.
PS: I'm using Windows 8.1 x64.
EDIT: Now Odin recognizes it, but it gets stuck in "<1> setup connection...".
EDIT 2: I've solved it flashing through Odin with a PC running a clean installation of Windows 7.

You usually get the "setup connection" error when you are in the Emergency Download Mode instead of Download Mode. You go to Emergency Download Mode by holding down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode" and you go to Download mode by holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…". try updating ur drivers online first, go to the download mode by pressing the vol up, down and the power button simultaneously, and then odin vud recognise it..
when u have successfully installed the stock rom from Odin, go to recoverymode, then to clockworkmod, remove cahe and dalvik data and then install the rom that u want.
This shud do as it worked for me..

Bro, this question is solved. See "Edit 2" in the question where the author has specified what he did to solve this problem.
hello, I have a problem with my galaxy note 9. I mistakenly started an update with a different firmware from mine (I have SM-N960F). So now it is in bootloop on the screen installing system update. If I press Power + Volume Down the phone can simulate the removal of the battery by switching off and then restarting immediately. I can not get into recovery mode nor download mode. The phone is not recognized by the PC and therefore I can not use odin. How can i do?
Hold down Bixby, volume down, and power button until you see the download screen. Then flash through proper firmware.
if I try this combination of keys the phone will reboot on the logo screen until I stop (and then go back to that of the installing system update)

Ok. Try Bixby, Power, and Volume UP. See if you can get into recovery.
no, nothing happens..
If one wants to remove the carrier boot/flashscreen does one just flash an unbranded firmware? hate the carrier startup splash screen...

Dang. That sounds like a hard brick to me. If you can't get into download, there's nothing you can do. Hopefully someone here can find a solution for you, but sounds like you're bricked.

I think you accidentally clicked on for wrong thread. Your question has nothing to do with the OP's problem.

hello, I have a problem with my galaxy note 9. How can i do?

contrary to what some might have suggested in this case dl mode can only be achieved if phone is OFF. ( on the note 9 dl mode button combo changed so... :cyclops: )
so if you cant get to recovery and select power off. let it drain out. then plug the power for 10 min to charge it. leave it powered off
then unplug. hold vol down and bixby with one hand. while holding those 2 buttons plug the usb cable from your pc.
should revive to dl mode

Yes, but I celebrated too early ... now I have another problem. I downloaded a firmware from updato.com and unzipped. I assigned the entries bl ap cl and csc, and started .. now the process is started on "set partition" and on the device the horizontal bar has not loaded. now it is still .. and yet the phone has been recognized.

you need to know what model phone you have and flash the matching firmware.(get latest)
you can also use samfirm tool to get latest firmwares.
you cant downgraded bootloader so maybe you just choose a too old of a firmware.
also be sure you use Odin v. 3.13.1
also check that you are using a good USB c cable/USB port on PC.

Yes.. there was an error non odin 12.3
It's finally work:good:
Glad you got it working. Sorry if I steered you the wrong direction. I wasn't implying you could get to Download mode with it powered on. I assumed you were trying it with the device powered down. I should've been more clear and I almost asked you that.
Glad Bober got you up and running.
Hi all, I got a boot loop on my note 9 n960n after I was enable the "encryption"(didn't think straight..). After I pressed "reset and the phone will go to TWRP recovery but it will not allow me to stop so it just keep looping whenever I press "reset". I cannot power off the phone also. Any advise is appreciated, thanks in advance.
I solved the problem eventually..

Have you tried:
1. Plug phone into computer, with odin running
2. Turn phone off (if bootlooping skip to next step)
3. Hold bixby and volume down buttons, then turn phone on( or wait for phone to power cycle if bootlooping)
4. You should now be in download mode
if i press power button it will stuck in installing system info again

seems you might not have flashed a complete firmware set ( all 4 bl ap cp and csc .md5 files. were you trying to downgrade by any chance?)
also u should state what got you in that jam in the 1st place. because just responding to an old thread dosen't give much info on your current situation.
