Every day, the phone gets to about 20% and then straight up falls to 14% - 9% - 4% and then dead within a two minute time span. If I connect to the charger it jumps right back to 20% only to die near instantly if I disconnect the charger. What could be the problem here? I use my phone all day every day, could I have simply used up the battery?

Try looking up battery calibration. There's some stuff around saying that you should drain to 0 then charge all the way (with power off). I've also heard doing that then pressing and holding the power button for two minutes straight does something, but I'm not sure.

My Kaiser never had great battery life, 12 hour max.
But nowdays its just ridicilous, device turns itself off during calls. This is normal due battery failures.
But the real question that I am asking: Is it normal that battery indicator is not accurate at all? Ill give a few examples.
1) I charge the battery overnight (7 hours). When I wake up, it says 100% battery, but I notice that orange LED is not lit (not charging). I restart the phone, still 100%. I shut it down, remove battery, plug it back in, start the phone and it says 80% battery? Has the phone stopped recharging when it hit 100% the first time?
2) I'm making a call. 70% Battery. Phone shuts down. I restart it. Battery 70%. I shut it down, remove battery, plug it back, start the phone and it says 0% battery.
3) Battery 10%. I charge it to 100%. Shut down, remove battery, plug it back in, restart phone. Battery 75%. Recharge it to 100%. Shut it down, remove battery, plug it back in, restart phone. Battery 85%. Recharge it to 100%, repeat this few times and I finally get to "real" battery charge of 95%. And the phone stays on the whole day.
Seems that my phone is a BIT too optimistic about the 100%
I'm just hoping this is all about the fact that the battery is dying. Ordered a new one few days ago.
Same problems with WM 6.0 and 6.1.
I would like to find out what is the best charging strategy to extend the life of your phone battery. Is is better to use the phone all day and charge at night for 8 hours? Or is it better to plug in while working in the office? Should I not charge the phone that night if I have more than 50% left at the end of the day? Is less charging cycle better for the battery?
Since HTC One does not have replaceable battery, I need to make sure my battery will last at least the 2 years of my contract.
Try to charge as often as possible to keep it topped off. Avoid letting the phone drain completely. However, it has been noted it's good to let the phone completely drain once every month or two to calibrate the battery.
Doesn't really matter what schedule you use, nor does keeping it plugged in hurt any. Whether you charge it starting at 80% or 40% won't make any difference.
Personally I don't want to be plugging/unplugging my phone frequently throughout the day. My method is very simple: I use the phone all day like a normal person, and let it charge overnight on the night stand. The kernel, of course, won't allow the battery to be overcharged from keeping it plugged in all night.
There's a science to all this, but it isn't really worth it!
It has been suggested that Li-Ion (and in this case, Li-poly) remain at half charge for best battery life (about 0% - 60%). Keeping batteries at 100% (in the case of overnight charging) or near 0% (in the case of letting it run out) can be harmful, but you probably won't notice it..
What I do:
-Use the supplied AC adapter and USB cable as each is made specifically to support the One (other AC adapters are clocked in at different voltages and certain USBs don't supply the same power).
-Installed Battery Monitor Widget (or you can install CurrentWidget) to keep an eye on the incoming current (and sometimes outgoing).
-Lately I've been letting my battery drain to 0% to get an initial calibration set up since the phone is new (<4days old). I've been "bump charging" the device:
Go to settings, select power, uncheck fastboot
Let battery drain to 0%
Connect to charger and charge all the way to 100% MAKING SURE that the incoming current is 0 (sometimes it's at 100% but it's still charging)
Shut off device and charge for approx 30min (will turn green, but continue waiting to ensure it maxes out the battery)
unplug, boot phone up, and wait till the phone is fully on, then plug in the charger again
Wait till the LED is green @ 100% and 0 current
Unplug after 0 current and then replug 5 minutes later, waiting again for it to reach 100% and 0 incoming current
Enable fastboot
Do the above maybe once a month? I'm going to do it maybe 1 or 2 more times (only have done it once) this month to ensure proper calibration. Doing this too often will probably damage your battery. Just do it once a month or as many times you feel comfortable. It's a bad idea to keep topping it at 100%
I do the above before I sleep, and as I sleep I just turn on airplane mode, close all running apps, and let it sit there till the morning where I have Tasker set up to disable airplane mode, enable wifi, syncing, and change my ringers 15 minutes before my alarm on the phone goes off.
On normal days (normal charge) I just let it finish the charge BEFORE I sleep, wait till it hits 0mA current and then just pull it off the plug. In the morning I would have only lost 1 or 2% and can get on with my day without worries. Ideally, the battery should remain around 50%. Doing so will probably increase the longevity of its life.
I've been having some issues with my battery life on CM12. The battery drains about 35% in about 20 minutes during light use, mainly just browsing reddit using reddit sync. It does fine during standby, using about 10% in around 6 to 7 hours. It also seems to heat up while idling. Right now it's on my desk, charging, at 40 degrees. I've ran a factory reset and it hasn't helped.

35 is 20 min is huge but it could be because some apps are draining battery. Use gsam battery monitor to see what is draining the battery so fast. Your battery might also need replacement.

Have you tried a hardware battery recalibration?
The battery calibration starts with the phone completely off. The steps are as follows: Charge the device for at least 10 minutes using the original charging cable in a wall outlet. With the device powered off while still plugged into the wall outlet, press and hold the volume up, volume down and power button for two full minutes. Use three fingers to hold these buttons and do not let go at any time. They will be held in at the same time for this to work. The phone will switch on and off every 15 seconds, After two minutes, you can let go, whilst the screen is on, At this point, the device should boot up and battery/charging logic will be re-calibrated.

Just installed this. Going to report back with what it says tomorrow. Also will post a battery graph if the recalibration doesn't help.

Just did this as well. Going to see how it goes tomorrow.
I've had this phone for 2 years and I m sure the battery is almost good as dead.
I get around 3 hours of SOT with airplane mode on and WiFi only. I am having trouble getting the battery to recalibrate. I charged the phone all the way to 100 then I let it stay at a 100 for half hour then I pull the plug. When I restart the phone the battery shows at 82-83 percent. Then I recharge it all the way to 100 again. I keep doing this until it stays at 100 after pulling plug.
Can anyone tell me whats going on here?
Every time when I charge my phone and then I remove the charger, my phone shows that my battery is empty.
It can't be empty if I have charged it almost 3 hours.
And also my phone charges faster than before. When my battery is 1% it takes only 5 minutes to 100%.
I watch my phone, it's 5% then 3 minutes later it's 40% and then it jumps to 70% and so on. And phone was turned off.
I was thinking to calibrate my battery but it's almost impossible.
