[Q] Recovery Issue. - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hello,
I have had two of the HTC ONE (M7) Sprint from when they just came out and rooted, installed TWRP 2.5.0.0 HBOOT-1.44.0000 S-OFF and no issues and just got a new phone for my son so I wanted to unlock the boot loader and install TWRP, and maybe a custom ROM later so my adventures start.
HTC ONE (M7) Sprint
HBOOT-1.56.0000
S-ON
So everything was going good got the boot loader unlocked and was following: http://qbking77.com/development/how-to-root-the-htc-one-international-sprint-att/
Which I have used before with no problems.
My issue is I flashed TWRP 2.5.0.0 and I believe this version does not work with Hboot 1.56 because I am not able to touch any of the buttons to do anything and then when I refresh the screen I get the padlock icon with the slider to unlock, but still no control it was like frozen only way to get it back is to hold down the power button and the vol down keys. Phone reboots and when I go into the Boot loader I get" Tampered (which I believe means that I have a custom recovery (that doesn't work...lol) then unlocked witch is the boot loader, which I believe is correct to have.
So then I when to try to just flash the newest version TWRP 2.7.0.1 and I also tried 2.6.3.0, and I kept getting the same error in CMD fastboot:
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
error: cannot load 'recovery.img': No error
I thought maybe I should try to put CWM on and then I could then put back on TWRP, but when I did this I got the same error:
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
error: cannot load 'recovery.img': No error
Need some help and guidance of how to get this so I can put a working custom recovery on this phone. I don't have an issue to have to go back to factory reset if that is the only way to fix this.
Thanks in Advance
Jon

You have the recovery.img in the folder you are using to open the cmd window?

Not sure if I have hidden file extentions?
Here is a screen shot of the Folder I am in when I hold down the shift key and right click the mouse and select "Open command window here"
You can see I was trying CWM this last time
Okay update I was able to get CWM v6.0.4.6 on but when it boots up into recovery I get :
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.6
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
If I hit Backup and Restore then backup to /sdcard I get:
SD Card space free: 0MB
There may not be enough free space to complete backup... continuing...
Backing up boot image
and then does nothing.
I then tried to flash TWRP 2.0.7.1 threw fast boot and got this error:
C:\Users\Jon\Desktop\OneDrivers_Fastboot\Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery openre
covery-twrp-2.7.0.1-m7wls.img
target reported max download size of 1514139648 bytes
error: cannot load 'openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.1-m7wls.img': No error
Hope this helps
Jon

I have Root Access and TWRP Custom Recovery and SuperSU all working now.
Thanks again.
Jon

I HAVE THE SAME NO ERROR ... ISSUE ..... AND I AM USING supersu v1.25 .... And did u type .img in the end of image m7 file in fastboot folder ?

For the "can't mount /cache/" error, search for "fix a corrupted partition android" in google, it's from Android Revolution, that worked for me.
BTW, the CWM gives me a lot of problems, so I flashed TWRP 2.8, with no problems, be sure that you are s-off and type correctly the name of the file. Try changing the name to "recovery.img", just to be more easy.

Hmm. Have you attempted to format data while in TWRP recovery? Also a few more details please--once you had unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, did you attempt to install a ROM from that point or boot into stock? If it's the latter, have you attempted to fastboot flash a boot.img from a stock ROM/NAND backup?

I have always had better luck with CWM clockworkmod recovery than TWRP for these kind of situations. So you might want to use the all in one and put Clockwork on. Also when sideloading a rom make sure to rename the rom something nice and short like rom.zip no spaces no numbers just simple and short or it will fail.

1. Have NOT tried to format data
2. Originally tried to install cm touch, which at that time seemed like it didnt work (could not boot into rom) so I tried to install TWRP for some reason
3. I have attempted to boot stock rom, but always gets hung up on "beats audio" audio screen

Two things here:
1) Clearing Cache fixes the cache issue you see...
2) To fix the boot loop, you need to `Format /data and /data/media` under `Mounts and Storage`.
That should fix you up.... side loading wont fix a bad /data partition.

It sounds like you have a ROM loaded if its cycling at the BeatsAudio screen. Yes, you can do the ROM now. Make sure you do a factory reset before installing the ROM (or after I suppose)

Are you using Mac OSX? What is the format of the external_sd card? Is it formatted FAT, FAT32, or EX_FAT?
Clockworkmod does not support EX_FAT, so you must format it to FAT in order for it to mount. OSX can't format FAT32, so you must format FAT.

Stock Recovery Infected?

I'm having issues flashing a custom recovery. After booting into the Clockwork Mod recovery (just flashed) I get the error codes:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I also only have 118MB of free space on the SD Card (seen through recovery).
So I'm trying to download the stock recovery from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2158763
so that I can flash it to start all over to see if it helps, but ESET is coming up with it as infected with a trojan. I'd like to flash it but I'm not sure if I can trust it...
Any help?
That link downloads a rar archive that contains the stock recovery image plus other stuff. My virus protection also picked it up, but I downloaded and check it out and even had another user flash that recovery image so I am pretty sure the download is not infected.
Alright, I'm going to flash it.
Any ideas on the error codes?
Looks like you got fungi on your recovery. DON'T LET IT GET EXPOSED TO WATER!

Maybe fastboot erase cache. Perhaps reflash and try TWRP recovery.
Any idea which recovery to flash. The file I downloaded came with a bunch to choose from.
Oh yeah, I remember now. I didn't use those because I thought they were labeled weird. Here is a zip that contains the stock recovery.img :
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36946918/ResetRecovery.zip
I would just try to reflash a custom recovery.
Go to this thread and get TWRP. Rename the file to twrp.img and place it in the same folder as your fastboot. Your phone should still be in fastboot, if not, get there.
Type: fastboot erase cache
Type: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
since acipen
I can't flash any other recoveries...
When I try to flash another one, the one with go to the "Entering recovery" screen for several seconds and then turn off.

I sometimes get those error messages when I go from Twrp to Cwm, but after I do a backup or flash something it goes away the next time I boot into recovery.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
The other issue is that when I'm backing up in CW, it says:
Backing up system..
Can't mount /system!
Is this a problem or should I ignore it?
I have CW flashed, but now I can't start my phone. Everything's been flashed (data/factory reset, etc.). I don't think I wiped the system, but now I'm not sure. Any help guys? This kind of blows.

Stuck with Clockworkmod non-touch

Hi
I was able to s-off, install a recovery and root my device OK.
I installed TWRP as part of that process and then installed Clockworkmod while I was testing out Cyanogenmod.
I want to go back to TWRP (or at least Clockworkmod touch) but my phone will only boot into Clockworkmod (non-touch)
Things I've tried:
Flashed TWRP from fastboot
fastboot erase cache
But every time the phone only boots into Clockworkmod 5.x.x.x
The clockworkmod app tells me I have TWRP and Clockworkmod installed already, but same problem when I try to reboot into TWRP from there.
This log comes up in Clockworkmod. Maybe it's relevant:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Anyone kind enough to help I'll be very grateful
Thanks
Flash TWRP, reboot into the phone. Go back to fastboot, flash TWRP again, and check. A different combination may work. It may take a few tries to get it going.

first this should be a zip file, not a rar. You have to push or sideload the file to your phone prior to installing it.
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/

Very frustrating especially with the fact that there isn't a EXE file version so I can't go and try that way either. Running out of options. Hoping somebody here to diagnosis this situation

The Guru Reset your trying to flash is flashed in custom recovery
Unlock the bootloader first then
Flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 >> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
now boot to recovery and push the Guru reset to the phone
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
just put the rom in the same folder as adb and fastboot and rename it rom.zip
the last step is to install the rom in TWRP / Install
During the install you can choose to keep the custom recovery you have now or return to stock recovery so you can recieve OTA updates again .. that's up to you

Okay up until this point everything was going great except when I typed "adb push rom.zip /sdcard/" (I copied and pasted what you wrote) into the command prompt and this message appeared:
>adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
cannot stat 'rom.zip': No such file or directory
Now what did I do wrong? I renamed the file as rom.zip just like you said and I placed it in the same folder as adb and fastboot. Was I suppose to go to a specific part of TWRP recovery? ADB sideload? I already tried ADB sideload but nothing happened....

I don't understand this part; do you mean to actually drag and drop the rom.zip to command prompt? It didn't work
Sorry if I'm making this more harder than it should be, and yes I'm using Windows as my operating system

Okay so I left the ZIP file as "rom" and then I re-did the whole process again. After that I finally got that GURU Reset file in the SD card. But when trying to install it it just gave me an error message! I'm assuming that it wasn't compatible with my software even though it match specifically with mines. Do you think I may have gotten the wrong software even though it's HTC One (M7) Sense 6 5.502.2(which was the last stock rom I got before rooting) ? Is there even a version released in the US specifically?

I tried all of them. Not one matched! I think something occurred between the day that they were put out and now that caused this to happen...
Want proof? I 've attached a screenshot of what I've been getting. This occurred over the nine different places that the ROM was from
Is there any chance of a EXE file version of this? Or any other places for a complete ZIP file? Oh and just to let you know the website said 1.2 GB, but the actual downloaded file had only 1.18 GB, not sure if this helps or not, just to let you know

No actually that was my computer that automatically set it. And, I'm still stuck at the TWRP installation again but this time it says:
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
Sorry I'm losing your patience here, if it helps I'll donate, because I'm getting help at least! I WILL DONATE

LOL sorry man it's fine, I just expect a lot from those i'm helping.
the cache error is meaningless you erased the cache so you get the error ...it has nothing to do with flashing the guru reset
what happens when you go to install the rom (post a picture if possible)
