Pa Quick settings - Moto X Q&A

Is there anyway we can have PA Quick settings on stock rom.
I searched a lot but couldn't find any thing

Is this like the quick settings management through gravitybox?

I don't know what's special about PA quick settings, but GravityBox has awesome quicksettings.

Yea but it is more awesome, like when you swipe wifi tile you get a tile for Hotspot. So that way you need an extra tile for that.
This way it groups a lot of related tiles. So it would be smartly arranged. You can watch its video on YT

I looked it up. That is pretty awesome how they grouped similar tiles. :good:
I haven't seen anything else like that....so I don't think there is anything available yet. Give it some time. PA stuff always seems to trickle down to the masses.

[App] Tile World Clock, Now Supports Wide Tile, more customizations available

Since the keyboard disappearing issue has been resolved with the new ROM, it may be a good time to share the Tile World Clock Tool.
Features:
1. Pin the clock for any timezone you choose to your desktop
2. Clock will be updated every minute.
3. 8 different clock types to choose from.
4. Dynamic updated tile according to your theme.
Disclaimer: The clock on the tile may not be correct for various reasons. Please use the system clock for important times.
1. When background updating is working, the clock may delay for 1 minute.
2. When backgrond updating is not working for various reasions, for example, battery saving mode. The clock on the tile will stop.
2012.01.11: Update to 2.2. Minor update. The clock will be slightly more accurate (Delay within 5 seconds in my test)
2012.01.31: Update to 2.3. Supporting Wide Tile as requested. Require InterOp Unlock. This version may not be very stable at this moment. Is this the first Home Brew that supports dynamic wide tile?
Help Needed: Is there any good code who can save PNG file with low footprint and high quality?
2012.02.29: Found a really memory efficient PNG encoder. Now it is time to continue my development.
2012.03.14: Update to 2.5. More customization options available. You can even choose a picture from your library as background.
2012.03.22: Added a slightly updated new 2.5 XAP. Changed a few background images. Fixed a bug so that two line style Time/Date is correctly displayed at center.
For me it took around 5-6 (sometimes around 10) minutes to update the tile, with background tasks running. Nothing can be done i guess.
But an awesome app, nonetheless.
Thanks
Very Nice App. I had no issues in time update with background update turned on. We also did a video review on wpxbox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBoreopVpuk
I will suggest you to give user option to how often they want to which can be anything between one minute to 30 minutes.
A bit more but you can think of combining reminders with each tile so it triggers them in that time zone.
Thanks.....Good application works properly on my Omnia 7

Thanks for the review.
Is there anyone interested in a clock that can delay upto 30 minutes?
As for the reminder, I think counting down and time ellapsed/stop watch could be good ideas.
could you make this app luks more offficial? Obiviously you used the wired font fron the default OS tile font, it need tweaks

That's good suggestions that I should take. Unfortunately, I am not so good at UI designing. If you have more specific suggestions, pleaes let me know.
Delay till 30 minutes can be only suitable for one set of time, When I get to sleep. Saves Battery. Please do correct me if I am wrong.
If you could make the tile look the the HTC sense flip clock this would get a gazillion downloads especially if it does update properly every minute

In my app, this won't happen. I mentioned this in response to your suggestion to allow user to select how frequent they could update the clock.

The clock images can change but no animation is possible. But my intention is to match the tile format since art is not my specialty. If anybody interested in making it more beautiful, please let me know.
Clock Name bug
I discovered a bug when entering a Clock Name that uses a space such as "New York". After using a space I am unable to enter any more characters - the keys no longer worked. But, I could get around this by exiting the app and starting it again and continuing the "York" part of the clock name.
Other people that only include cities without a space in the name would not encounter this bug.
So far, a good & practical app otherwise as I have only used it for 20 mins.
Well done!
Another cool app after the office/pdf uploader. I really like it !
Could you allow to add a custom background (.jpg) image for the live tile ?

Can't find any code in this page that will lead to this behavior. And the same issue did not appear in my test. However, your symptom looks very similiar to the keyboard disappearing bug of Mango. You may want to upgrade to 8107 or disable background task to verify.

Any specifics for this request? Select a picture from the phone library? If so, that will involve quite a bit of image resizing work.

Selecting a picture from the picture hub only allows to use .jpg files.
I would prefer to choose a picture from the isolated storage of your app so it´s possible to use .jpg or .png files. The files can be copied easyly to the isolated storage with Windows Phone Power Tools. Just a suggestion...
Anyway it´s great. I have tested it over the night and the tile didn´t stop to work.
The difference to the system time is max. 1 minute....

Understand your point. Don't think this a common request but I will try when I got time.
As for the time difference, my application currently runs every 60 seconds. That's where the difference comes from. But I recently found a way to reduce the difference to, let's say, five seconds. I upload the new verion when I complete it.

Weather Flow background stopped moving

Hello, not sure if this is the right place to put this, the thing is my Weather Flow medium live tile has stopped moving (like photo live tile moves), have no idea what happened.
Tried all kind of solutions i could find on the web, unpined it, reinstalled it, deleted IE history, restarted the phone etc.. It's still not moving, and it looked damn fine when moving
Anyone got some solution? Thanks..
The images on third party live tiles cannot move.
The tiles can flip around and show different images/text, but they cannot move in the way that the Photos tile moves (the slow pan of the photo, and then a fast slide to the next photo).
Totally forgot about iconic since barely anyone uses it. XD

Actually, in WP8 (even in WP7.8 i believe) they can move.
It's called an iconic tile.
The reason it stops moving is because you probably exceeded the maximum number of live tile processes you can have running around in the background.

Hey cheers for reply, actually i only have Weather Flow and Photos as a medium live tile, or the ones that move around and flip. I have Here Maps and Here Drive as medium but they don't do anything.. now i'm hearing that the Weather Flow never moved it's background, could it be that i've imagened it? Anyone willing to test this?

No. the actual number of tiles on the screen has little impact.
go to settings>slide to application>background tasks.
If too many are running, live tile processes may not be getting to run anymore, thus the live tiles will die.
You certainly did not imagine it, tiles like the pictures hub are available for third parties.
Just checked, disabled some like My notes, Here drive is allowed but i've made it a small tile. Atm only Here drive and Weather Flow are allowed, and it's still not moving..
I was thinking if someone can confirm to me that Weather Flow actually does move it's background

Maybe there is a problem on their end.

Samsung has removed the ability to disable the brightness slider...

Samsung has really started to annoy me in the past few iterations of their Galaxy Note series, and this is really starting to get a bit ridiculous...
They have now removed the ability to disable the brightness slider on the Note 4.
Between the ridiculously large Quick Toggles (which I would remove if possible), and the completely useless S-Finder & Quick Connect shortcuts, plus the now non-removable brightness slider, 50% of the notification area is completely unusable.
I can't post pictures or outside links yet, but feel free to check out my post on Google+. (Luke Saladyga)

Actually, no, currently it can't... unless you'd like to expand on your statement with a link.
If you take a look at the screenshots, you'll see that the new Quick Toggle bar integrates the Brightness slider into it. So no, the Xposed or previous ways to remove it, not to mention the simple menu item are no longer relevant. There is not a single TW based ROM that I've seen that has removed the Quick Toggles, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
And NOTE 3 ROM's aren't useful at this point obviously...

This didn't work for me but wanam was updated to get rid of s finder and quick connect. I still haven't found anything to remove the brightness slider though.
AllianceRom on the S5 was a touchwiz ROM that had the ability to remove the quick toggles. It also had about 2553523 other options....I hope we get it on our GN4.

So I have the ugly stock notification panel on my P30 Pro MIUI 10.
I was wondering if there's any way of modding it without rooting.?

Hi,
Is power shade actually fully compatible with dark mode in EMUI 10??
Cause I read that auto brightness toggle is screwed up (which I use) and others say it doesn't fully work for Quick Settings or re-asks from time to time accessibility permission. And others mention poorer battery life and performance as Power Shade is always running.
Not sure if it's worth paying for the app that might have those glitches.

Auto brightness works, but if you have that enabled then you cannot manually change brightness, the slider does nothing unless you disable auto
Ok, but how about other icons like Huawei Share that I use often? Are they still present? And how's battery life and performance? Any difference with Power Shade running all the time?

Can the brightness slider be removed from the quick settings panel? It's something that i'll never need and it just takes up room.

[MODULE] N3O No Nonsense Notch Overlay

N3O (or Nitrous Oxide i guess )
Who is it for:
devices with punchole or cutout displays
the black bar REALLY annoys you in landscape
clock behind camera annoys you just as much!
What it does:
Uses full screen in landscape mode
respects the cutout in portrait to ensure a normal status bar
Device Support
Preset for Oneplus 8/8T & 8 Pro
Preset for Pixel 5
Other devices via custom config (left/right cutouts, center cutouts experimental)
Custom mode for other left or right cutouts without presets (please share your values)
OS:
13 - Experimental builds (here)
12 - Experemental builds (here)
11 - AOSP based Roms
10 - Currently not supported (can install but bootloops reported)
Nonsense:
The only nonsesne here, is that devices that switch resolution need to have a specific cutout to match it. if you dynamically change resolution using tasker you need to switch overlays when you do so (seems to not affect powersave mode when at full resolution)
For up-to date information on features in the module and how to use it, check the documentation on git here
Where do i get it:
Github Releases: Releases · logmd/N3O-No-Nonsense-Notch-Overlay (github.com)
Here: N3O_v1.4I4Z.003.zip
Recognition
Gnonymous7 for Script base and install logic
Zackptg5 for MMT-Ex template.

Thanks, works perfect for my Pixel 5
Only disadvantage is the blurry border ring around the hole punch camera.

Yeah think this happens for all "notch killer" ones as well.
Tbh a non root app with just a customizable circle would work to anti Alias the cutout
I could not find any existing ones from a quick search but may create one in the future.

Oneplus did something funky with the system UI customisations.
I think immersive doesn't work for the same reason you can't truly change the status bar height.
I tested a module I built to disable as many systemUi overlays by oneplus and the statusbar started reacting correctly (not sure about immersive but it let me change the height properly)
Inadvertently it also caused brightness to stay on max and a bunch of other weird things but hey

Probably you need to be using gestures instead of navbar, but that's just a guess. The mod is made to get rid of the little white line/pill at the bottom of the screen which also creates a small thin black bar when gestures is used.

Ah yeah I use it like this with gesyures. But immersive mode historically came with settings.
No navbar.
No statusbar.
Fullscreen (no status and navbar)
I'm assuming that's what's being considered immersive mode that's broken.
Would it be possible to go full screen in portrait apps as well? Can't we push all status bar elements to the right? (punch hole on the top left)

With the custom setting you can push it as far right as you want.
Oneplus 8 series
However there's no ridding of the statusbar or even changing its size at the moment.
G-visual mod alters the status bar height and yes the content of the statusbar shrinks. But can't move the line below the camera that separates the statusbar from the action bar (this is not normal behaviour)
I've spent countless nights modding this to hell but the only way I got anything to work is remove all the system UI overlays using magisk - but then things like brightness control etc stop working
other devices
you could enable immersive (other mods should be compatible with this)
This mod however just inserts an object to the left which obstructs elements underneath to move, pushing all the content to the right would mean modifying a lot of XML files across different devices and compatibility would be hard (device specific)
What we perceive as the "status bar" is actually not just in one place in android, it consists of, status bar, keyboard status bar, heads up status bar and notification status bar.
My original pre release no nonsense mod was built like this, but I found it was version specific to even minor upgrades and was too volatile causing bootloops etc.
Not that it cannot be done.
sorry for the essay just sharing my findings

I appreciate the information you shared. I'm trying to find info on the status bar and possible mods to get rid of the black bar in some games.
I'm actually using an oneplus 8 pro. I tried g-visual mod but it didn't work properly. (There is also a possibility I did something completely wrong).
Adding status bar padding changed nothing. There were elements behind the punch hole.
What custom settings are you referring to?
