Recently bought a brand new phone .The phone wasn't activated on SPRINT.Could successfully unlock it for gsm usage outside US.But cant find data settings under mobile network settings and also no WiFi tethering.
Tried stock and customs ROMs(bad boyz ,viper ) but nothing..
Is there a way to get these settings without the phone been activated on SPRINT ???

Hi all...
i just bought a brand new HTC Incredible S...
I am to tally new to use an Android phone & on this forum so please get me absorbed.
I just want to know why cant i do native 3G video calls from this highly priced gadget...? is there any solution for this ( Except Fring,Skype...Etc.)
When this facility is available on any other samsung & nokia phones which are 1/5 th priced than this...
Also when I went in roaming my phone didnt work but i pull out the same SIM & inserted in another cheap phone it does work normal.
Thanx
Android does not support native 3g videocalling.
For your roaming problem, I think it is disabled.
Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks and check Data roaming

Hi. I live in Europe, I was jealous of you guys, so I ordered Moto on ebay. To save some cash, I ordered locked AT&T version. Everything went great, I was able to unlock the phone, it accepted the sim card, I can make calls and send SMS. So far, so good.
Then I turned on mobile data. And...nothing happend.
To clarify: Using the same sim card, I was able to use mobile data on good old Samsung i9000, so the data is activated. It's there and should work.
So I started looking around in settings, tried turning on the data roaming and looked into the "about phone" section.
Here's what it says:
Mobile Network Type: EDGE
Service state: In service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Is there something I need to do to "force" the connection, or should I rather discuss this with my mobile network provider?
Thanks for any help
P.S. I tried the usual stuff like reboot and eject sim and put it back, I even switched from ART back to Dalvik, The phone is running latest avaliable KitKat and is not rooted.

You didn't mention whether you checked the APN settings. My guess is that because you purchased a locked AT&T device and then unlocked it, you don't have an APN setup for your European provider. APN will be in Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks ->Access Point Names. If you go in there and either there is nothing listed or it's not the APN your mobile provider recommends, you will need to manually create the proper APN. I'm sure a quick Google Search for your provider's APN settings on Android will get you the answer.

I knew I was missing something important "Copied" the APN settings from old phone and it worked like charm. Thanks a lot
Interesting thing is that on that old Samsung, I tried new ROM every month or so and never had this problem. The phone just "knew" what to do. Guess these are the perks of unlocked devices, right?

Glad that worked. Correct, Custom ROM's often self-provision based on a database of Carrier/APN's.
Hi im new to the forum my question is my brother just give his glfex phone he was with Rogers (brand) and i unlock the phone with (unlock river.com site it cost me 13$ to convert it with Fido brand. So I put my old sim card in it of my old xperia sp and every thing seems to work exept my network data ... so no internet at all exept wi-fi, i check every thing in the phone the only thing i didn't do is call Fido thank you all
You won't get data unless you set up your network APN, Settings - Networks - Tethering & Networks - Mobile Networks.

Paid $1.50 us on ebay 2 nights ago had code in 30 mins, had to change apn and all worked well.Change the apn and you should be all set.
Hi everyone! I recently had a problem with my phone (hard brick on Moto G 2014) while traveling in Canada and had to buy my device locally. After some research I saw that the nexus 6 (XT1103) works fine in Brazil and with our carriers.
I set up the device just fine, upgraded to M and my SIM Card (carrier is VIVO from Brazil) is recognized normally with functional call and SMS, but no data on International Roaming. I checked the APN and looks fine, also tried to reset APNs, configure manually and even wipe data, but no luck. I try to connect and it shows the ! signal on mobile icon, and even shows that some KB of data was used in the process (currently data usage shows 0.12, and it increases every time I activate Data and Roaming).
And finally, I tried to "input the code *#*#4636#*#* on dialer > phone info > set preferred network type as LTE only" as I saw in some places and also didn't work.
----------------
What did work though, while I was writing this post, was changing "set preferred network type" as GSM only.
Is this normal? Or is there anything that I can do to use as LTE or to have this working automatically without the need of changing phone options to GSM only?
And to finish, if any brazilian see this post and had a similar experience, it would be good to know your experience with International Roaming and local data usage (especially if you use VIVO).
Thanks and sorry for long post.
hi
i got the phone from korea, the problem is when connecting to 4G the phone would lose internet and calls then lose the network, i get a message saying "failed to register to network (15)" but if i forced the phone to connect to 3G then it works fine. here's what i tried to fix the problem :
turning off the mobile network then turning it on
resetting the network settings
removing NR Whitelist
and none of them fixed the issue. there's a korean menu in the service mode, but i didn't miss with it. i have attached screen shots of the software information and the korean menu in the service menu.
Who provides your service? Have you tried going into network settings and APN and see what that says
If it is a Korean phone and you aren't in Korea and it is locked into the network then you won't be able to get service somewhere else I don't think
