To be able to look at that you should be drunk.

Each to their own, but that is HORRIBLE!

ewwwww so bulky!

Unless I am completely blind, I fail to see an offering for the m8 on any of the four so-called "official" sites. I see plenty of links for the m7 though...
I agree its fugly, but if it performs how its described, and being this is the first "lifeproof" type case for the m8, I'd be interested in it.

SInce M8 is quite new phone, the aren't many cases so far. In a couple of month there would be plenty of cases that offers extreme protection. Of course, I would never carry them on the phone all the time.

Whoa..umm.. How about an Otterbox Defender insead?

Definitely looks better, but that really isn't my priority. I'm looking for an extreme protection, which includes waterresistance (not for diving, just for splashing), suffering extreme hits, and dust (and sand) protection too.
This video pretty much envolves everything im looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMKt_h-EdCo

You seen the video on YouTube of a HTC ONE M8 being submerged in a basin of water for awhile and coming out 100% working order? I don't think you need be too worried about the odd 'splash'.

I've seen the video your referring to. While it's impressive, there isn't any "certification" for water resistance which might not mean much, but some people just like to be careful. I recommend that rather than cover the phone up with a nasty case simply get it treated with liquipel. Then you can use any case you want and still have a water proof/resistant phone.

Maybe you can save some money by using your current case and putting your phone in a zip lock freezer bag when you go to the beach.

I've seen that video, but there are maybe consequences that will appear later. And m8 isn't officially waterresistant. So i wouldn't play with that..

Absolutely. But I think it proves that it can withstand some light splashing at the very least.

Build quality is excellent of course, but if some material isn't waterressistant, then it doesn't matter if build quality is excellent, it will still broke down.

Has anyone here used liquipel with the m8 I ask because my microphone went out after a splash of water. On my second one now and I'm happy because the replacement is brighter. Does liquipel work with the front speaker set up

Yea, I really want to get the pre production one...but for one, I'm not looking to get a new back cover any time soon and they're probably all going to be gone by the time I am...and I'm not willing to shell out $50-$100 for it either...the most I would pay is $25

A lot of people bought them from this place for $20
http://www.repairhppda.com/htc-htc-...Csid=77e6c8b862df41cb4f300e432c01c06b&sort=3a
They are sold out right now but keep checking they may get more in stock (not sure how but its worth a look if you really want one)
I kind of like the look of the red aluminum cover they have there.
I don't think the ones on that website are the pre production covers...
I nabbed one off EBay too:

The red ones they did have were the same exact ones as in your photos. But they are sold out.
Has anyone been able to successfully order a white one yet? I have called about 4-5 times and gotten the same "i don't know" answer...
Oh wow I like the pre-production cover, I'd never seen one til now. The white one looks pretty nice too, but I feel like with a white back and a black front the phone would look too iPhone 3G like to me. It does look pretty clean though...hmmm.
Edit: delete.

I ordered one of each. I just called in and gave them the part number for each.
I hope they fit better because my battery door is starting to get loose and not snap on tight. It squeeks too so hopefully this is more snug.
Edit: just picked up the white one at my local verizon wireless retail store, they only had one. Looks really good, definitely makes my incredible a lot more unique.

Nah that's a waste of money.. I'm going to put it in my case and never take it out anyway. I'd rather blow that on a car dock. if HTC made one.
My battery doors just arrived. Both look great, but the red is awesome. It's Ferrari Red.

Could you take some pics. Thanks in advance.

*shock* His name is Andy thank you very much! =p
Unless I get an extended battery that needs more room (which I might have to get... for some reason when I upgraded from 2.1-update1 to the official 2.2 OTA my phone doesn't last more than a day, when before I could easily get 2 - 3 days of standby/short calls), I think I am going to customize it myself with a yet undecided design + goldleaf. I think the real gold would offset well with the stock black.

I found a Quality case

Thought i'd share a case I bought for my nexus s because I feel like they are all super cheap quality... Like hard plastic that scratches the phone and traps dust, or rubber that attracts dust and doesn't slide into your pocket right... And the brand name cases look ugly overall... I found this one on ebay for about $12. It's not too bulky, is hard put pliable, and looks good imo (its got pearl in it).
Here some pics...

Wow, these actually look very nice with the marble-like look of the case. Especially looking at the black one, the front view of the phone with the case on almost looks like there's nothing on.
However, I don't like the branding on the back. While the "Nexus | S" is nice, the "Mercury, design by New York" is a dealbreaker. Shouldn't it be "designed IN New York?" Don't want a spelling mistake on my phone.
That is really a dealbreaker for you, one word? I suppose you could rub it off with some kinda solvent.
oh I forgot to add the seller included 2 screenprotectors which was a nice surprise.

Well I'm not a fan of all that writing and the logo on the back to begin with so the grammar mistake was the dealbreaker.
Anyways, the white one looks pretty good and hides the logo and writing fairly well. Just wondering, how much bulk does it add? Considering it's a hard case, they are usually fairly bulky so I'm just wondering if you can compare it to any other case.
Thanks.

Truthfully i haven't tried any other cases, i just have an invisible shield on the phone. I'm not sure how to describe the "bulk" but it does make the phone feel larger in the hand. The back portion is also kinda thick so... overall it becomes a slightly thicker phone.
I want that white silicon case now ....
I just ordered one.
Thanks for the info.
I want one of these for an i9023 Looks great (though the text really shouldn't be there).
Guess I'll have to stick with my hard black mesh.

Ordered mine last week. Should take about 2 weeks-ish to reach here. lol.
I just bought a white one myself...
So I have a transparent/diamond plaid pattern TPU case and i'll get that shiny white TPU case in a lil while.
So many cases, too little time.

I was pretty much planning to alter it if I ended up buying it. Basically to remove the flap that covers the bottom, and I had no intentions to use a screen protector.
I have quite a few different cases I was looking at, but this was just a curiosity

My bad, I thought you were spamming and trying to promote your own product here.
Personally though, not a fan of these types of cases. They're really bulky and I think they completely ruin the look of the phone and makes it look cheap.
I don't sell anything online. I'm just looking for something that with offer a decent amount of protection. I don't want a lot of bulk, but I want something that is sturdy enough offer that much. I've seen drops cracking the screen and figured I may as well look for a case to pop the phone in when I get it. I don't usually punish my phones, but I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry.

[Q] Slight warping on back?

Has anybody else experience any slight warping or denting on the back of the phone? My fiancé has an X and is careful with it and it also has a case. I was messing with the phone and removed the case the other day and noticed that there seemed to be slight warping on the back. My Razr M has a similar warping on it. Not sure if it's the battery heat or what. It's minor but I was just curious. I'll be upgrading to the X shortly.

I couldn't quite tell if he was being sarcastic, which is why I shot him a "Thanks". She is still under warranty since she only got it a little over a month ago so I'll shoot her the feedback I get here. I've attached two pictures. The original and then an edited photo highlighting the area in question. It's very slight and hard to see, but if I move my fingers over the upper left area on the back I can feel what I can only describe as a dent or slight warping. The right side in the same area feels smooth to the touch. There seems to be a speaker on the right side. Not sure if the two sides are slightly different because of this or not.

Hmmm, does the bump cause anything to malfunction? My thought is if it's not outright noticeable to you a warranty center could possibly overlook it. My fear here is that you send it back and they tell you they didn't notice anything. Anyway, I think you got what you needed.

I wasn't being sarcastic, just eliminating the obvious first. Like the other guy said, never assume someone knows something.
I haven't seen that on an X before, but my experience with battery warping has been closer to the center of the device/battery rather than on one side or a corner. Not sure what would cause that, but I'm not terribly familiar with what's located where under the back this phone. There's got to be a teardown somewhere, though.
Oh, and not to nitpick, but "he" is a "she."

M8 carbon fiber case

Nothing special but thought I'd share. Loving it. Just arrived from Hong Kong today...it's a very tight fit to the phone and provides great shell protection to the back and ends of the phone. It cost 12 bucks with free shipping and came with an anti reflective screen protector. Shipped in about 10 days.
EBay seller's name is platinumarrow if anyone's interested.

Looks similar to an OSIR one I used to have for my iPhone.
I'm a huge fan of anything carbon fiber. But 12 bucks? That seems a little cheap for something made out of CF, doesn't it?
EDIT: It's plastic with a CF finish. Still cool. But now you've got me looking for a case actually made of carbon fiber lol

Let me know if you come across one.. I would love a real CF case even though they might be pricey

I will. Haven't found one yet, all of the ones I've found are plastic with a CF finish. I'll keep looking though

I've read that real carbon fiber can interfere with cell signals, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Maybe that's why I'm having such a hard time finding one

I still love it. For what it cost and the protection it's giving me I am happy

Is it real carbon fiber or is it "carbon fiber"?

Oops sorry. We're having our first heat wave here in California and I'm drained.

Lol fair, that's a legit excuse. Up in NY I'd be down for a heat wave after this winter we've had

The only thing I've found so far is this: http://blog.laptopmag.com/best-htc-one-cases?slide=7
CF case for the M7, nothing at all for the M8 but skins. Also, this particular case isn't on their website anymore. So I dunno. But maybe CaseMate will release a real CF case for the M8 at some point or another
