I don't have an answer for you... not only because I didn't read, but also thanks to the little information you provide
but what's the difference between this thread, and the one you posted a few minutes earlier
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764871
I am not a forum mod, but am somewhat active in this thread and try to help when I can, however multi-threading and cross-posting, in my very humbly opinion, is not viewed upon favourably here.

Program to have Stock Ticker On Home Screen?

Anyone know of a program that displays the stock ticker on your home screen, preferably that updates regularly or on demand, similar to the htc weather.
Thanks.

I agree with kumar00455. This was completely unnecessary. This forum is here for a reason and you cannot guarantee that he didn't search the forum. Sometimes things are harder to find. Try going through a few hundred threads. If someone gets misdirected or makes an error, I think we must all use our good judgment and direct them to where they can be address properly . Not turn them down--that defeats the purpose of a community!
Anywho, I found something you may like that displays stocks on the Today screen as a plug in. Personally, I haven't used it myself, but you may want to give it a try.

thanks for the links guys i appreciate it,...and i did search the forum, didnt really find much. Not only was i looking for a program that displays the stocks on the homescreen updated, but as well anyone's feedback about which programs are better for this purpose, or which ones have worked better for you.
Thank you for explaining that i should learn to count to 10. That post was extremely helpful and i would like to express my deepest gratitude to that wonderful moderator for such an insightful tip. That was definately feedback at its finest.
lol thanks guys.

The coolest boot animation ever!

Apologies to those of you who come accross this thread in the anticipation to see an absolute killer of a boot animation, but I am afraid I have a noob question for you all.
I can see a lot of different boot animations in the roms that I have tried it today (my first time doing this ****), and I found some really amazing ones and some that are just pants.
What are the best boot animations in your opinions?
Furthermore, how easy is it to apply a boot animation to any rom that you download and install? Can I make one myself? Is it a GIF format? Are boot animations specific to devices? Eg: Will a boot animation from a droid work on my Nexus s?
I do however love the boot animation that is installed with NEXUS SENSE ROM. i mean WOW... have you guys seen that? I wish there were others like that around, but my search efforts on XDA as well as google were fruitless.. everything is crap!
Prepare to get flamed... This isn't the section bud, please learn to read the forum rules. You're more likely to get your answers if you posted in the proper section...
inc flames.
The search button is your friend. furthermore, boot animations aren't the territory of development, thats more of a theming thing and finally, threads like this that don't release things are generally a nono in XDA unless they're in general or Q&A.

The MODS should just move this thread before the useless debacle of flaming or debates increase.

[Q] Noob alert

Hi guys/girls, I just got an Xperia SP yesterday. Although I'm reasonably tech savvy, these days I'm not to clever. Just introducing myself really and hope to learn from the forum. I will endeavour to research as much as I can myself, however I'm on a few other forums ( none phone ) and have always found people very helpful. Thanks in advance ..... Mikey

Ok so any questions about the phone? Had to stop visiting Sony forums as I can't stand the continuous complains:crying: XDA is not just for developers but also in general for people who want to learn.
Just a few basics:
1. Always use the search button. Many, including me are particularly annoyed by people who can't be bothered to search
2. Press the thanks button for helpful posts. It helps a lot by pointing out the useful replies and for the poster's ego...
3. Finally, the video
Please don't feel offended LOL.
As always, feel free to ask questions.
such stertywo
No questions yet Jason, just looking around for tricks/ tips etc at the mo. I just find forums a plethora of info and thought I best join one first. No doubt I will have plenty soon. Thanks for the reply. In fact I would like to configure specific sms tones for specific people if you knew off hand, only just noticed I can't seem to personalise my missus's profile

I don't understand why my thread was closed. Can I have an explanation?

I've seen many many threads about obvious stuff (which apparently mine was although Google Search did not find what I was looking for.)
So, why was my thread closed but other people get the opportunity to have someone help them, even if it was an (so you say) obvious answer?

Moderator closed your thread probably because a simple search on the forum about htc one kernel should had be enough to find your answer.
Maybe you should start by reading the OP of some kernel threads like elementalx, bulletproof, teamseven etc....
and im sure you'll find an asnwer in like 5 min.
hope it help
I'll try again but I've never been successful searching in xda - only with Google. And the Google search I did only referenced a sense kernel. Hence my question. But I will read and search. Thank you for replying although I still don't understand why my thread was closed when so many others are not!

if you don't want to use the search bar, just go at the root of the htc one forum then click on the ''kernel'' tab. All kernel should be listed there
See! Awesome info follows a "stupid" question!

It did and you were right. I thought it would be rather haphazard to just start reading kernel OPs but once I ruled out the sense kernels (including the first two you named) I was able to find TeaMSeven which did the trick. I'm a happy camper and I appreciate your help and advice!!
Btw, I was hesitant to flash a kernel without being really familiar with it and the Rom I'm using because, in my experience, developers do not support alternate kernels and I didn't want problems. But in this case my desire to have a menu button overrode all caution.

:highfive:
Could always use the XDA search plug in for browsers.
Bat cave One
I wasn't aware of an xda search add-on. I wonder how much more effective it is than just putting xda as a Google search criteria? Guess I'll have to check it out.
(So digging my menu button!! :thumbup

Ok, here's another dumb question I've wondered about for a while: I often see someone reference a "link in my signature" but I don't see any links. I must have an xda setting wrong but sure can't find it.

You may have the setting to show sig set to off.
Bat cave One
If you cant seem to make the link work then try doing a search for xda search plug in.

it's cause you're using a mobile app, you need to switch to web-view or use a real browser to see the signatures.

Unfortunately http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=xda (from your sig) only gives me "Network Error", any other place to see that search engine.
Oh, and at OP, you can always use google, but in the search box, add "site:http://forum.xda-developers.com" that will give you results only from xda forums.
Thread closed,
Note to the OP. If you have an issue with a moderator decision this is not the way to get it addressed. Please contact the moderator directly and ask why the thread was closed. Moderator discussions will not be discussed like this on an open forum.
If the moderator does not get back to you or you do not receive an answer you are looking for please feel free to contact any of the moderators in the team that looks after the forum, in this case the HTC International Team. We will happily deal with any issues you may have.
In terms on answering your original question which was regarding the HTC logo as a menu option there are a number of custom kernels that offer this feature along with other features
Here are two examples to get you going.
[KERNEL] [Jan 6] ElementalX 11.4 10.10.1 8.4
[KERNEL] [Dec 15] Bulletproof | S2W | L2M | DT2W | BLN
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact myself or any of the moderators on my team. For quick reference the moderators are:

Now this is in the right section. The moderators moved it. Such posts should be on Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section and not on the development.
