Just because an IMEI is good doesn't mean the phone isn't locked to one network( doesn't apply to you but someone else maybe). Also, all these IMEI checking sites are very misleading. If a phone is under contract the IMEI always shows good. They sell the phone but later stop paying, guess what happens?
Hi guys,

Hello,
i'm on the same page as you.. Check my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/help/sim-lock-how-to-sim-unlock-sfr-france-t3116514
The only method i found is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659430, and i'm willing to try it but i don't know if i must downgrade or not..
Also i'm afraid that that i may end up like this guy here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/help-sim-unlocking-m8-t2988838 if i don't downgrade.
But since i'm on lollipop i don't know how far back i can go without bricking the device..
Any advice would be really appreciated..
Edit: According to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60372706&postcount=1419 we can downgrade without any problem. Check his previous post's to be sure.. He downgrade from lollipop to jelly bean..

are you talking about the HTC one M8 in your signature ?
if so, 401 WWE (generic) are already unlocked, if that is the original firmware, if not, you need to have stock rom on the phone to unlock it.
I have a Vodafone M7 sat by me which came with 401 firmware on it rather than the Vodafone branded firmware which is already unlocked, and the same goes for my virgin mobile M8 sat by me, 401 firmware, already unlocked.

No I'm talking about an M7 that is locked to SFR France and only gets 4G signal..
No 2G or 3G and this happens only with a Vodafone sim, with other carriers I have no signal..

strange, do you have stock rom on it ?
Not at the moment but I had checked it with stock untouched rom without any luck.
I am looking to buy an S4 Active with an unlocked bootloader that will allow flashing of custom ROMs. I have found a vendor in Hong Kong that appears to be selling the S4 Active with either what appears to be the AT&T configuration ("i537 For ATT"), or a non-ATT configuration ("I9295"). Can anyone confirm that this is what the "I9295" is and if it will work with North American GSM networks? Is there another avenue to get an S5 Active with an unlocked bootloader that I am missing?
Here is the link to the vendor and phone.

The i9295 has the unlocked bootloader that you're looking for. I bought mine off eBay for $200 but had to weed through a ton of items claiming they were the i9295 but in reality were the i537. I used the i9295 on AT&T and am currently using it on T-Mobile. It works great, however you only get HSPA+ and not LTE, I'm trying to figure out it it's just a modem issue where I can just flash the i537 modems but I haven't been able to spend enough time to really figure it out.
If you want an S5 Active with an unlocked bootloader, try searching for the SM-G870F. It's the international version of the S5 Active, so theoretically it should have an unlocked bootloader. There are people posting on XDA who have this phone, so you might want to try asking them.
Thanks for the response.
I just pulled the trigger on one of these.,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/111235467917
I have confirmed w/the seller that it is a T-mobile unit.
In theory the bootloader should be unlocked.

There is no such thing as a T-Mobile version. That is an i537, an AT&T phone. IT DOES NOT HAVE AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER. You can see the AT&T logo on the back cover. The phone has been SIM unlocked to work on T-Mobile, but the bootloader is still locked. This not the phone you want. If it's not too late I would cancel the order.
EDIT:
Try this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...406?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c56327bfe
Or this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...444?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2803e961ec
Thanks. I suspect that even though the seller said that the bootloader is unlocked and it is a Tmobile phone that you are 100% correct in your assessment that it's only carrier unlocked. I sent a similar message to an S4 Active motherboard seller in California who also told me that all of their mobos had unlocked bootloaders. I strongly suspect that most vendors have no idea what a locked bootloader is...

You're right. If you want to be 100% sure you are getting an i9295 with an unlocked bootloader, have them send you a photo of the phone's About screen showing:
Device Model
Baseband version
Kernel version
Build number.
Those should tell you whether or not it is an i9295, particularly the baseband version which is linked to the bootloader. The other information can be faked if they know what they're doing, but the baseband information is pulled directly from the modem and there is no way to fake it on the i537.

Thanks for the information.
So am I correct in assuming that all non-ATT phones have a Device Name/Model number that is SAMSUNG-SGH-i9295?
What is specific to the non-ATT phones in the Baseband version?

Locked Bootloader = SGH-i537 (AT&T version)
Unlocked Bootloader = GT-i9295 (international version)
The i9295 baseband will say something like "I9295XXUCNE5" while the i537 will say something like "I537UCUCOC6". There an entire list of i9295 firmware on the Sammobile site in case you want to check where the exact baseband is from. So basically as long as it has i9295 in the baseband it is safe to assume it has an unlocked bootloader. When I was looking for my phone the first thing I did was look at the picture to see if it had the AT&T globe on the back cover, if it didn't I then asked for the photo showing the About screen to confirm. As long as both of those things check out I say you have a 99.9% chance of getting the i9295. You're probably going to have better luck with sellers in Europe because that where a majority of the i9295 sales occurred.
Hi guys,
I need some clarification re: carrier unlocking and how it works. I recently purchased a carrier unlocked G920T, and I was going to start messing with custom roms/kernels and other goodies. My question is: Will the phone revert back to being locked if I do a factory reset or if I unlock the bootloader and flash custom roms?
I'm not a T-Mobile user, so I can't get another unlock code from them.
Thanks!!
The G920T has a carrier unlocked version, which is probably the one you have, not the T-Mobile one. Even if it is, usually a carrier unlocked device will remain unlocked forever unless it was unlocked using a different or hacky method, then there is a possibility that it will relock
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
Yeahh go ahead, mess with it. when it is carrier unlocked, the software doesn't affect it, unless it is a hacky method like @serio22 said, but there isnt such hacky method for the GS6 so have fun.
If it is a G920T (the T means it's from T-Mobile), then carrier unlocking is not a guaranteed state. I paid T-Mobile the full price to get my GS6 and they "permanently" unlocked it. Then after a OTA software patch all of a sudden it locked itself again and I couldn't use my phone for 2 days while they tried to unlock it. T-Mobile's new device unlocking uses a new system which has the phone "phone home" to their servers to check if you're allowed to use it outside of their network. It happened again when I accepted the Android 5.1.1 OTA. So...beware of T-Mobile's not-very-permanent permanent carrier unlocking.
I am living in india..
My relatives brought me the t model ( i wanted f model instead of i sold in india for quicker updates but got t model...lol )
Anyways,
The moment i inserted my sim, it worked like a charm so its unlocked at the moment.
I dont know how they made payment their or how it was unlocked, but the way used must be legit coz its still stock at the moment without root / recovery etc. .
I read humo saying it can get locked again...
My main question, what are the odds of that happening?
Also since i live in india, i wont be able to contact t mobile via phone/walk in, are there ways i can get it unlocked again?
I dont have the bill too if it matters
i believe they have an app that unlock ur device since that is how i unlocked mine. if not u can try to contact customer service online since u r not in US.
With device unlock app , will i have to pay for unlock my s6 g920t or it'll unlock my device for free.
I have an unlocked s6 tmobile from usa, i heard the flashing stock rom will relock the device.
If the phone will relock then how can i unlock it again?
I'm not sure about flashing a stock ROM relocking the device. Mine re-locked when T-Mobile sent Android security patches. This week I did the Android 6.0 OTA update and it has remained unlocked.

Got it done remotely!
I have a Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T) from T-Mobile. It was locked. But it has an "Unlock" app installed by default. I used it and phone was instantly unlocked! Fast, easy and free!
I used to live in the US for a year and bought a g920T. Since i had the requirements i Unlocked and came back to my country but because of a problem, I had to install a stock firmware and now the unlock is gone.
So i'm wondering, if someone with a unlocked phone made firmware backup, remove the IMEI, and send it online would it work? I mean, right now it works just fine, so i can backup my IMEI and ID and just restore it if needed.
Please help

Have you tried with the tmobile device unloced app.? If that doesnt work then head over to this awesome guy, he can help you unlock it remotely. https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/general/sim-unlock-honestly-free-t3601740
So i bought an at&t XT1097 from ebay and it came with sim locked, i tried to unlock it with no succes via at&t because they told me the imei was not in their database.
After looking at the imei displayed on the box i found out it wasnt the same displaying at the phone (i checked this imei and this was the original imei). So now what should i do? I have my moto x rooted and bootloader unlocked still i dont know if i should just return the phone since i live in Chile and bought on the USA, or try to upload the correct imei.
well as far as i know if it was att variant, then bootloader should not be unlocked, as att isnt allowing it, your device seems too be from a diffrent carrier, i guess xt1097 is not only own by att, retail ca, retail brazil and many others carriers also use xt1097. search by the imei might be you find something help full, and also check sim tray, it contains the original imei also.. you can also check imei from bootloader, just boot into bootloader and press volume down and select barcodes from the menu by pressing volume up. last thing you can do is RMA
It IS an at&t variant, i just unlocked the bootloader via sunshine. The sim tray doesnt contain the imei either and in the bootloader barcodes it shows the IMEI that im unable to unlock.
What is RMA?

The barcode imei is what the real imei is.. Box imei might be different, so if you have unlockbootloader and imei is not on database have you tried 3rd party unlock providers? I got mine in 3$ from unlockbase.. Give it a try.
Ive tried to unlock it via 3rd party, where most of them refunded me claiming that they couldnt get the unlock code. Its all so weird since now at&t says i cant ask for the unlock code since its attached to an account (previously they said it wasnt from at&t), and now i asked for the owner to try and get me the code.
I really hope i can get the code, im using a really bad phone right now.
Thanks for the help!
Seems suspicious. Is it possible the phone is stolen and has had the IMEI changed?
